Good food, I had the oxtails plate and it was my first time eating oxtails, great experience

When we first arrived it was not clear whether we should seat ourselves or whether there was anyone working there at all. We saw some people seated so we grabbed menus and sat ourselves. Then we saw some new people walk in and suddenly someone appeared behind the counter. We went up to try and ask questions the person was gone again. After playing stalk the counter we were finally able to place an order. It was then when we realized the employee was a younger kid (which is perhaps why we couldn't see them occasionally). As for the food, on the outside of the establishment they advertise the jerk turkey leg so I ordered that. I found it...underwhelming, too salty (which was conclusion for most of the food), and dry (though it was covered in sauce). The mannish water was alright (though also a bit salty) and was a good size for a small. The cabbage was tasty. My partner had the curry goat. It was also too salty and he found the meat dry. During our meal the presumed proprietor/chef came to our table. She was cordial and gave me a bowl for my soup (it originally came in a Styrofoam cup so the bowl was appreciated). This place is good and bad. Some options are fantastic (goat, curry chicken and roti). However, some are gross and a slap in the face. Stew chicken. Absolutely no taste. Juice or water ever the stew base was looked weird and I had a reaction. Spinach is always good. Jerk turkey leg needs to be removed from the menu. Not good at all. Overcooked. No taste. Waste of money. Goat roti. Shrimp roti. SOOOO good and hearty!! Popcorn shrimp and fries. Immediately just threw it away. Fries were so hard and nasty. Couldn't eat. This place is a no for me. I will be honest about the portion size; they do give you a lot of slop, I mean food if you want to share it with someone, but overall, it was nasty. We got one order with curry goat, rice and peas, and coleslaw (supposed to be cabbage) and another order with curry chicken and the same sides. All of it was tasteless and I don't eat coleslaw; I was expecting cabbage similar to Jamaican Cook Shop's or Elaine's cabbage. The rice and peas were hard and dry. Both meats and their gravy were bland. I am highly disappointed because I expected it to taste better. I really should have tried the oxtails but based on my experience, I can't go back and get oxtails (scared they might be tasteless) with a repeat of that coleslaw and hard rice and peas and cabbage. I have eaten at this establishment plenty of times. However, today I purchased the oxtails with rice and peas with side of plantains. I also purchased 2 spicy beef patties. The patties for most part are always good, but the oxtails and rice were not fresh. The meat tasted salty and like it might have been cooked a couple of days ago. I went in this place last night And I ordered some shrimp and wings The only qualm I had is when I ordered off the menu it "says choice of 2 sides " because it does not specify what food actually gave the actual choice of 2 sides with the meals with no extra charge ! So I wind up accidentally buying 2 sides with my order thinking they came with my order. It just be more specified on the menu. But when I tell you the food is so damn good like omg and you get serious bang for your buck!!!! It's well worth it and at that point I wasn't even tripping about the price after I saw how you much got for the side of fires I'm so serious I highly recommend this place The seasoning,the preparation, the wait time, the environment, the staff. As a person who grew up with West Indian food ( thanks mom and dad ), I feel like I'm a little tougher on Caribbean restaurants because I know how the food is supposed to taste. The food here is authentic and good. My favorite dishes are Red snapper, curry goat, and the curry chicken. Also, the roti skins are top tier which I appreciate because it's impossible to find roti skins in DFW and they sell them individually here. 90 % of the menu is great, but I will say if it's not Caribbean food don't get it. You can get wings everywhere and this is not their specialty so it makes sense to spend your money on the items they do well which is Jamaican and West Indian food. What to get: Curry chicken Red snapper Jerk chicken Roti( they only serve the skins) Mannish water ( goat soup) Jamaica patties Pass on: Wings I will also say just so that people are aware, it does not smell great when you go into the restaurant. I usually have to order my food to go. Similar to other reviews you will experience some wait time, but depending on what you're getting, it may be worth the wait. I ordered the Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas and Plantain. The jerk chicken was jerking and giving what it needed to. The rice & peas were a bit underwhelming. It was dry and they forgot to add their gravy (sauce) to it. They gave me some gravy on the side and it made an improvement, but I'm not convinced it's worth trying again. The plantain was ripe and very thick, which was fine because I still got the sweet taste without the sogginess. On to the Beef Patties... Just do it. I've ordered from this place in the past, the food used to be really good but today it was off. First critique, Reggae Wings & Tings should invest in quality takeout plates/bowls. Every time I order takeout from here, the bags/plates are messy. The stew spills everywhere, I ordered plantains the last time and couldn't even eat them. Other than it spilling on the food, it spills outside of the bag. The cleanup is too much. Second, the stew chicken tasted bad today. Im pretty sure the recipe has changed since June of this year or there are new cooks... the stew chicken has a weird sweet smell and taste with no other flavor outside of that. Please go back to the old recipe and/or cooks. The food used to be 5/5 here. I enjoyed it so much the last few times so I'll def give it another try and update the review if it taste better. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!! STAY AWAY!! Yesterday 05/24/2025 I placed an order on uber eats and it took 3 hours for it to be made. The biggest issue then became BOLD. THE LADY WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE IS THE WORST PERSON I HAVE DEALT WITH AND I WORK IN CUSTOMER SERVICE! I politely asked about the reason for the hold up and she said "your order left 10 minutes ago MA'AM". Ok.. I had heard really great things about this place and was very excited to try it. Unfortunately the food was not amazing. The cabbage had a strong, I think, vinegar smell and taste so I did not care for them. The oxtails were not tender. Or should I say not all of the oxtails were tender. The medium to larger oxtails could have cooked a little longer as they were a bit tough. I see a few complaints about service and time it takes to get your food. The Curry Chicken had very little curry flavor, lots of bones and skin and no sauce. The chicken patty's were dry and the crust was hard. The jerk chicken plate with peas and rice and cabbage... dry, dry, dry!!!! Last the plantains... so soggy as if they soaked them in some type of liquid. There was a sewage? smell as you walked in but the place had a old but old school Jamaican atmosphere and stage. There was a little girl at the counter who took our order that was very sweet. I applaud her efforts and contribution. Getting out food did not take that long but I would rather wait longer to get better quality food. We went to the restaurant not having ordered ahead, and I think we waited for our food for an hour. So don't do that! I saw some of the other reviews mention that the oxtails were tough, but the ones we got were very tender and flavorful. I always love fried plantains and these were solid, and the mac and cheese was very good. The rice and peas was a bit dry, but it was ok if you eat it with the gravy from the main dishes. The cabbage was my least favorite, but I felt like I was being healthy ish by eating some crunchy cabbage and not only soft yellow and brown foods. :P I would definitely order from here again but I will be calling ahead next time! read more

For a few tings (see what I did there?) you expect to be really good, they are REALLY good. I'm referring to the Jerk Chicken and Jamaican Beef Patties which were both phenomenal. Unfortunately, the Curry Chicken was meh, the spinach was meh, the mac and cheese was meh, but the fried okra were DELICIOUS and perfectly seasoned but they need a dipping sauce (I had something in my fridge: a peppery, creamy sauce that I paired with them and it really made them sing!)
