I was in search of some catfish in the area and came across this place. They had decent reviews and pictures so why not. I ordered the 10pc catfish nugget with fries and it did not meet my expectations. I expected the nuggets to be bigger or at least thicker. What I received, I could barely call nuggets. It appeared like cracklings... barely any fish at all. Because of this, I had to toss at least 4 of them (see video). On top of that, it was not seasoned well so I didn't even get a taste of satisfaction. Same with the fries - it was bland. These people know how to cook and they do it well, but the dining experience is where opportunity lies. They have karaoke and music, but it's too loud. By the time I left my family had a headache. The amount of time it took to cook was around 30 minutes, and with the continuous loud music, by the time we left, I felt overstimulated. Jambalaya was different from what I'm used to, but it was still good. Nice flavor with decent amount of shrimp and sausage tossed in. The basket also came with a corn cob which was surprisingly seasoned very well with some kind of Cajun magic. I don't even like corn, but I ate it. Hot Honey Lemon Pepper Wings- So I'm not a fan of wet wings or buffalo sauce but I tried them anyway bc they were recommended. They were delicious and seasoned well. The sauce was a perfect spicy/sweet balance and they were cooked just right. I'll be trying the dry lemon pepper wings on my next visit. Fried Okra- Best fried okra I've had in a very long time. Ask them to fry it hard. Delicious! Shrimp- Basic fried shrimp. But it was fresh and good sized pieces. Fries- Basic crinkled fries, but not greasy and cooked perfectly. I would've loved to have a dash of cajun magic on em. Maybe I need to request it next time. And they had HUSHPUPPIES!!! Yes Lawd! I ordered catfish fillets, corn cob, candied yams, collard greens, and jambalaya. The nice lady with the smile (didn't get her name) while she didn't want my order to be more delayed then need be. If you know me, then you know I love a good strong Daiquiri but living in Plano my options are pretty much anywhere but close to me. Luckily, I have a friend in Mesquite who recommend we stop by Mardi Gras Daiquiris since her & her boyfriend had previously stopped by and enjoyed their drinks. Upon entering the first thing my eyes drew to was this beautiful hanging ball light they have for decor. Might I add the decor and finishes overall are spot on. They give a good vibe to the place -- way better than all the other places I've been. Next, was figuring out what drink mix to get. First step was letting the staff know I was allergic to pineapples so I needed to knock out whichever ones might get to me. Luckily, Jazmine and Chyna were very helpful in helping me pick out a mix to try, they even let me sample a few -- this was me more so making sure if it did have pineapple juice it wasn't too strong. I didn't flare up after any so I ended up getting a mix of: Hurricane Punch, Octane & Dallas Punch. Yes ladies ! The daiquiri was strong & right on point with the seafood I paired it with later. My friend also got 5 lbs of crawfish and said they were just right not too spicy or overpowering. Although I am relocating, I hope to be able to come back by soon to try some of their food as well. This place was so pleasant to go to. Great music, lively and relatively close to where I live etc so it actually was pretty great to find this hidden gem. Let's start with the positives: the food came out hot, the customer service of the host were pretty attentive and even the staff at the door greeted us and offered to take our picture. The drinks had a great slush to them and they had a variety of flavors to choose from. I mixed mine with peach, mango and margarita and loved it. I believe the cost for the size I got a medium was $7 and my food possibly $10+ because the overall total was $19. Although there were few negatives ; have to realistic and state them. My food came out really slow and I had to go up and remind them of my order. That in mind working in the food industry you know it gets really busy and sometimes things fall through the cracks, was not intentional and they got it out pretty fast after . I was super disappointed that they advertised crawfish for today through Sunday on social media but when my party and I got there we were told that crawfish is served on Saturday and Sunday.
