Well, talk about a hidden gem. I had this place bookmarked but could not tell you where I heard…read moreabout it. It is basically a little luncheon oasis dropped right in the middle of a gigantic industrial park. On the drive over I was seriously questioning my Yelp choices. It is that kind of location. But trust Yelp and sometimes you are handily rewarded, which we absolutely were. We came after a few hours strolling around at the Botanical Gardens, so we rolled in around 1:30 and there were still plenty of people there. I can only imagine at noon this place is packed, and honestly it should be. My biggest complaint is the menus. There is one above the counter that does not include everything, and then a different, more complete version if you scan the QR code at the table (But 2 different navigations even on the website with slightly different menus). Do yourself a favor and look it up ahead of time so you are not standing there making panic decisions. There is a half sandwich and half soup combo (Not on the board but online menu), which is definitely the move. I got the pozole, which you should absolutely order, and a half grilled cheese on their housemate sourdough. Normally not my go to, but I was trying not to be completely stuffed since we had dinner plans. And they bake their own sourdough, so I had a strong feeling it would be great, and it delivered. Toasty and melty, American and cheddar. My husband got the southwestern wrap, and my friend went with the half club and half tomato soup. She immediately regretted not getting the pozole and the half birria sandwich, which tells you everything you need to know. Also need to mention the snickerdoodle. Not much to look at, kind of humble, but it completely makes up for it with flavor and that perfect soft texture. Go ahead and get the cookie. You are not here to make responsible decisions. Bottom line, it may feel like you are driving into the middle of nowhere, but keep going. This place is worth it.

Tried the watermelon refresher and it's good with free refill. Great service from staff. Great ambiance. Plenty of indoor and outdoor table to choose from. Looks busy at lunch time. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

I visited the Mesquite, Tx location this evening. When I arrived, they told me their computers were…read moredown but would take my order and I could pay when I leave. This gave the impression the computers were rebooting and would be up any minute. Upon completion of my dinner 2 young men came over and told me I was not allowed to leave unless I paid them in cash because their computers were down. I don't carry cash and asked when the computers would be back up. They told me they didn't know but the front doors were locked and I was not going to be able to leave until I paid. I let them know I could not be held hostage and had no issue calling the police, but I would be leaving and could not be made to stay due to their computer issues. When they realized the computers went down, they should have stopped taking orders or let me know I would need to pay in cash. That would have allowed me the opportunity to let them know I would dine elsewhere. The young "manager on duty" was on the phone with who I presume was the manager saying people were refusing to pay. I let her know I was not refusing to pay and have no issue returning tomorrow. I left my business card and have every intention of going back to pay but will never return to this location due to their unprofessionalism. This situation was poorly handled and the "manager on duty" needs some guidance and training. She does not have the skills nor wisdom to navigate unforseen situations and she did not handle this well.

I ordered the Pork Ba, Pickled Smashed Cucumbers, Pan-Fried Chicken & Mushroom Dumplings, Pork Bao Zi, and Peach Dessert Dumplings. The Pickled Smashed Cucumbers with the sweet and spicy chili dressing were a nice start, but the Pan-Fried Chicken & Mushroom Dumplings were fairly unremarkable. They weren't bad, but they reminded me of gyoza I've had at many other restaurants and didn't particularly stand out. The Pork Bao Zi had one of the better fillings of the meal. The pork itself was flavorful and delicious, but the bao bun was very plain and lacked enough flavor to complement the filling. I was especially interested in trying the Peach Dessert Dumplings because they sounded so unique. They were definitely an interesting treat, but ultimately fell a little short for me. The peach filling tasted more like preserves or jam than a fresh fruit-based filling, which made them sweeter and less balanced than I expected. The restaurant itself has a modern, clean, open interior and a casual atmosphere. One thing worth mentioning is that it was fairly warm inside, probably around 78°F. It wasn't unbearable for me, but with North Texas temperatures easily reaching 100°F+, some diners may find the dining room warmer than comfortable. Parking is also somewhat limited, so keep that in mind during busier times. Overall, I'm glad I tried Hello Dumpling, especially after seeing it on *Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives*. There were some enjoyable flavors and creative ideas, but based on this visit, the food didn't quite live up to the expectations I had from the TV feature. I'd give it a solid 3 stars and will go back to try some fresh noodle entrees.

The first thing I noticed was how beautiful everything is. The décor is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. And yes...those are real trees. That actually matters to me. I love restaurants with a beautiful aesthetic because it makes the whole experience feel special. Good food is wonderful, but good food in a beautiful space? That's even better. The menu is perfect if you're dining with friends because there are so many things to share. We ordered the traditional sampler, and it was such a fun way to try several Guatemalan dishes. Every plate that came out looked fresh, colorful, and made with care. The cheese pupusa was delicious, and the cotija cheese was the perfect finishing touch. Then there were the plantains. I actually stopped our server to ask, "Do y'all make the plantains from scratch?" They do. And it shows. They were fresh, perfectly cooked, and so good that I kept reaching for another one. Honestly, they may have been my favorite thing on the table. The steak was cooked exactly medium, had a great char, and was full of flavor. Portions were generous across the board, which is always a win because leftovers are basically tomorrow's gift to yourself. The spinach artichoke dip surprised me. If you're someone who genuinely loves spinach, you'll probably be very happy because spinach definitely got top billing in that relationship. It tasted incredibly fresh, and it made me realize I apparently prefer my artichokes to be just a little more competitive. The service was warm and welcoming all evening. I ordered a red sangria that never quite found its way to the table, but honestly, by the end of the meal I was so full that my stomach had already voted "maybe next time." One of my favorite parts of the evening was learning more about San Martín's history. Knowing it began in Guatemala and is especially known for its bakery and breakfast immediately put breakfast on my "I need to come back for this" list. By the end of the meal, we were full, happy, and already talking about what we'd order next time. That's usually the sign of a restaurant I'll happily recommend. Beautiful atmosphere. Fresh food. Generous portions. Outstanding plantains. I'd give San Martín a solid 9 out of 10, and I'm already looking forward to coming back.

I was instantly reminded why it is such a Dallas GEM! I did not pop in to eat this time, but to find a nice spot to work with a friend on our laptops and yap over a coffee! And while we weren't planning to do much, the experience was still a 10/10! I ended up ordering a White Chocolate latte and it was AMAZING! You can tell they actually put time and effort into their coffee and lattes! Everything is also brewed fresh! Which I love! My friend ordered a artesian hot chocolate and wow! It was probably some of the best hot chocolate I have ever had! It was def made with real cocoa! We did end up splurging on some pastries, because DUH! It's it so hard to ignore the bakery section when it is so stunning and filled with beautiful baked goods! I got a oreo croissant and tortuga concha! I did not eat them (My bf did) but they looked so great! I did try my friends banana custard filled bread and that was great! I would go back for it! Overall, we ended up sitting inside of their beautiful space for hours, just talking and catching up! It was amazing and comfy! We def want to return for some of their dinner and drink specials too! Highly recommend!

While we were waiting, we saw tons of open tables with no people. Turns out the hostess was just signing folks up, but not actually paying attention to when tables cleared. Another employee came and finally cleared the bottleneck and sat a bunch of folks. Once we sat, this same employee brought our drinks bc nobody was paying attention. We waited 10 minutes, in the back dining room which was empty except one other table. When she finally showed up, we immediately ordered bc we had been waiting so long. She took our order and left. Where we were seated, we could see into the prep area. We saw about 5 waitresses all hanging out, playing on their phones, and eating. We saw one other waitress working like crazy trying to get people taken care of. Nobody helped her or left to check on their tables. After an hour at this point, we walked out. There were still tons of folks waiting to be seated, a bunch of empty tables, and the waitresses just hanging out. 0/10 would not recommend and we won't be going back.
