Nice hidden sandwich shop that everyone needs to know! Their Nashville Hot chicken and Fried pork cutlet sandwich are my highly recommend choice. The hot chicken was really flavorful and crispy and hot enough to give you a glimpse of how Nashville hot chicken taste like (I also live in Nashville so I know about hot chicken :) ) Their fried pork is something you won't get anywhere in Howard county. It's freshly made and very crispy and juicy. The toppings in each sandwich is absolutely perfect and goes well with each of them. They have great happy hour drink selection of 6 dollar wine and beer which makes a quick bite place with friends. Service was amazing every time I went there. Definitely a must hidden gem.

I enjoyed my experience here at RegionAle. We happened to be in the area and decided to have a late lunch here. The way it works you order your food at the register first and pay and they bring it to your table. I was out with a girlfriend and we both decided to get the bacon grilled cheese. Which I might add was delicious. The only thing I didn't like was that if you wanted tomato soup as a side. You had to pay separately. Now everyone knows that tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich go together. So why isn't that an option as a side? So it was an additional $5.00 if you wanted the soup to be your side. Of course I wanted it. So I paid the additional $5.00. Now the soup was good but a little on the salty side. I end up giving the rest to my husband. I also ordered an additional meal to go. Which was the Cubano sandwich. It also came with a side. So I opted for the broccoli shred. The restaurant was clean. This was after lunchtime so there was plenty of seating available. The cashier was so nice & helpful. I would definitely return when in the area. Sandwiches were great! I also like that they have a huge selection to choose from. Very hard to decide from so you may want to check out the menu in advance.

Beautiful day for RegionAle (Ellicott City)

Really good sandwiches freshly made with great sides (homemade chips, broccoli crunch salad). If you're looking for something quick as well as a rotating list of beers, ciders and wines.

We've decided to try this place after hearing about the chicken wrap. It was absolutely delicious. It wasn't too heavy...all balanced and perfectly chopped. You can share it with someone ... it's pretty big. Crab cake was delicious as well per hubby (not a lot of filling). All is made in house. Chips were delicious and have the perfect crisp/seasoning. Def going back to try the grill cheese and tomato soup :-)

Region ale is a perfect quick service lunch spot. The options of sandwiches are perfect for anyone with any kind of taste. It really is a regional experience. I got a salad and my husband got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. My watermelon salad was hearty and felt like the perfect amount. My husband has been through a few sandwiches and Nashville hot chicken sandwich is his favorite even though they are all pretty good. We both got the potato salad and it is mustard based which I enjoy much more than the standard mayo based ones. The service is quick and quality is great. The girl at the register was also very helpful in guiding my lunch choices. I will definitely be returning!

Seasonal special - bulgogi hoagie. Not bad! Gochjang aioli is a revelation!

This place surprised me. I'm not normally a sandwich guy, but this place has found its thing and it does that thing well. The inside is a bit narrow with a bit of a cafeteria vibe, but there are lots of spots to sit (though a table can often be tricky for our party of five). You place your order at the counter and they'll bring the food to you. FWIW, the gender-neutral bathroom in the back was clean and spacious with a changing table for me to take care of Child #3. I got the seasonal special the NOM Bulgogi Hoagie and it did not disappoint! Reminiscent of a cheesesteak sub but with tasty cherry peppers and this gochujang aioli that really tied the whole thing together with a nice Korean flavor - I would get this again. My wife got the WI grilled cheese which had good cheddar but also tomato and bacon to give it a little more oopmh than the childhood classic version (no shade to that though). I was pleased to see several vegetarian options that were more than a salad on bread. Child #1 doesn't eat meat and he loved his Jackfruit Cubano (there is a regular meat one on the menu as well). Child #2 ordered the children's menu burger and this is no small burger! I think many adults would be satisfied with a burger this size. There are several sides options and we tried the standard chips and the salt and vinegar. They weren't bad, but I think I'd really like to try the sweet potato chips next time I come in. There's a decent number of beers on tap and my wife and I each got one while the kids got some of the (cane sugar) fountain sodas. Again, I went for something seasonal, some nicely-balanced pale ale that complimented my sandwich nicely. My wife liked her fruity beer, but did say it wasn't the best pairing for her grilled cheese - match at your discretion! Overall, the prices were decent and the food and drink was solid.

We also loved their taco offerings which includes some fun vegetarian options like like spicy fried mushrooms and fried avocado as well as our first ever bison meat taco along with mahi mahi, chicken tinga, and carne asada. We did not expect it but it may be the best tacos we've had. We had their seasonal strawberry margarita which may have been the best margaritas we have had along with an excellent local rose wine. The place was packed on a Friday evening and we eventually got two seats at the bar with the help of a friendly patron. The place is large, loud and lively. One of the side rooms is weirdly as bright as a school room. Speaking of weird this brewery is located in the back of an office park... The staff was friendly and hustling. I must say most of their beers are not my favorite. Too many sours and other beers that feel like they are trying too hard to be exotic. I tried their Shore pilsner and even that was a bit odd. I like lighter beers like pilsners, kolsches and hefeweizens so if I lived here I would try some of their non-beer options because I would be back for the food.

I'm breaking my own rules, because I feel the 3.9 rating is pretty accurate, with one 5 star + exception. This was a business lunch and a convenient location so there we were. The duck fries as an appetizer were good but needed to be seasoned with a little more salt. I had a strawberry salad with some grilled chicken that was good with the greens, but dry as the desert with the chicken and borderline inedible. Here's the twist!!! My two compadres both had the grilled cheese and lobster sandwich. They both looked at me sheepishly and said, you f ed up!!! William was kind enough to break off a substantial bite and let me try it. Angels sang, children wept, and I almost passed out! It was the kind of perfection we all agreed we would have eaten 5, maybe 6 of these unnaturally awesome sandwiches until we passed out! 3.5 Star service, 4 Star ambience, and some 10 Star bites! The staff are nice, but service and the kitchen seemed a bit slow on a Sunday early afternoon towards the very end of brunch despite the area we were seated only had a few tables filled. The Crab Cake Eggs Benedict was nothing special - feeling like a flat, single-note dish.. Perhaps it was that the hollandaise sauce lacked the acidity (usually from lemon juice) to brighten the dish. Or, that the nod to Maryland - the Old Bay honey - drizzled around the edges of the dish wasn't enough to elevate it to something that is savored with each bite. The Fluffernutter Blondie is a good dessert choice if you love blondies and peanut butter. Although, it was a bit drier than I'd like, the texture was still soft.

We started with Potato Cakes with crème fraiche, they had a nice crunch, a tender interior with subtle flavor. I'd never had them with crème fraiche, it was a nice change and the mild tanginess with the creamy texture complimented the Cakes well. I ordered the Main Street with Weisswurst, a Pretzel and plain Spätzle. It was my first, the veal's flavor is understated in comparison to Bratwurst or Knackwurst (not on the menu) and was a pleasant changeup. The Pretzel was little disappointing while it was a decent pretzel, it lacked the crisp crust and distinctive flavor I expected. As evident by the rating while worthy of note, it's not a game changer. I'd ordered a large plain Spätzle, which was two regular portions, but was served Spätzle with cheese I tasted it and it wasn't my thing, which is not to say it was bad, I just don't care for cheese in dishes like that. Our server swapped one cheese for plain (my wife had happily stolen the other) and enjoyed the replacement. I found that the grilled onions gave it a nice homey flavor. Mistakes happen and it turned out to be a win in the end. We shared a couple of desserts and by far, my favorite was the Black Forest Cupcake. It's on the large side, they might be able to cut on the weighty crème icing, the chocolate cake and soaked cherries were a delight. The cherries are a significant improvement over the Marchinos I had before, if only there were more. Rathskeller can get a little loud, as it is a relatively small space with hard surfaces so voices reflect, it wasn't packed this afternoon, so it wasn't an issue. HIDDEN GEM!!!! I…read morestumbled across this place while visiting Columbia, MD. I was craving a good cheesesteak, so I did what any responsible foodie would do--I consulted Google. This place kept popping up, so I figured the internet couldn't be wrong... at least not this time. The restaurant is tucked away in what feels like a residential area, making it a true hidden gem. The parking situation, however, deserves its own reality show. Spaces are limited, and getting in and out of the parking lot felt like I was participating in an advanced driving course. The establishment offers nice seating, but don't expect a formal dining experience. You place your order at the counter and then find your own seat. When we arrived, the place was packed with people ordering and eating. That's usually a good sign, and at that point I knew we had either found the jackpot or everyone in Columbia had the exact same cheesesteak craving. Because of the crowd, ordering took a little while. The dining area was also in need of some attention--we ended up cleaning our own table before sitting down. The food took longer than expected to arrive, but as soon as I took the first bite, all was forgiven. We ordered two cheesesteaks and a personal pepperoni pizza. The cheesesteaks were absolutely loaded with perfectly grilled meat, topped with grilled onions and peppers, all served on a warm, soft hoagie roll. Every bite was packed with flavor and required at least a few extra napkins. The personal pepperoni pizza was also excellent. I'd describe it as a traditional thin-crust pizza with the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. No ingredient was trying to steal the spotlight--it was a well-rehearsed pizza ensemble. As I said from the beginning, this place is a hidden gem. The food alone is worth the trip. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5 is because of the challenging parking situation and the dining area's cleanliness and service. Fix those two issues, and this place might just become my new definition of a cheesesteak pilgrimage destination
