summary: although I really want to like BB+P for the values they represent and their food is decent, it's really becoming a bit of a tough sell for me. I went because they sent me a promotion email for $10 off for a birthday meal. So, I went for a weekday early lunch when it wasn't busy. I think there must've been like 1 server for a 10 table section, but in either case, I had to wait like 10-15 minute just for my first interaction. I didn't really see the waiter again for another 20-30 minutes and when I did there were issues on their end honoring the birthday meal. At the end of it, the manager wasn't able to give me the $10 off, but rather they "settled" for 10% off the final bill... which isn't the same thing? Felt frustrating considering that was the primary reason I was there. At that point, I had already spent way more time than I allotted for, so I didn't argue. The food is pretty good and they have some legitimately cool events, but their service has been pretty spotty every time I've gone and it's hard to give a recommendation for it.

The staff seemed more focused on themselves than the guests. We waited over 15 minutes without a server and had to ask the host to send someone to our table. Service remained slow the entire time. The nachos took a while, our entrees took even longer, and the runner left our dirty appetizer plates on the already crowded table. At one point, we were even brought two entrees that weren't ours. The food was just okay. The mashed potatoes were creamy and the fried chicken was good, but the grits were hard. The hot wings were advertised as hot but tasted more sweet than spicy. Overall, very slow service and average food.

Delicious food, wonderful service, relaxing and poetic atmosphere. So happy we finally have one close to us now, no need to drive all the way to DC any more. Highly recommend by this foodie !

Food was good. I ordered on their website for pickup. My food was ready when I got there. This is a really nice location. The outdoor eating area is beautiful and there's a shared parking lot. I would definitely go for dine in service at another time.

Food: All of the food was good. The fries were a bit overdone. The shrimp had good flavor but was a bit spicy. I loved the antioxidant. Service: The service was great but a little slow since they were busy. Ambiance: The restaurant is very unique and decorated well. There's also a small selection of books for sale.

Decent brunch place in the area! Really liked their crab grits for brunch :) Service is usually pretty fast and the place is very spacious, so you never have to wait too long to get a seat - even during the weekends which is WILD. They also offer a ton of gluten free options which I find surprising rare in the area. There is also a bookstore attached to the restaurant which is nice. Food-wise, I'd say it's generally about average, nothing mind blowing but never a bad dish. If you are looking for a chill brunch spot and want to avoid the wait, this is the spot for you!

Food: my friend and I split the portabella shawarma (just ok) with the sweet potato fries (delicious and a generous portion), the blackened mahi mahi with green beans (solid, I loved the green beans), and shrimp and crab fritters (fritters were ok, dill pickle aioli was too watery and not flavorful enough). Had the "grown & sexy" cocktail, which was small but tasty. Overall, I think the food is solid for the price point and I love how many vegetarian and vegan options they have! Service: fast and friendly Ambiance: cute vibe, clean, good location with lots of nearby parking

Happy 20th anniversary to Busboys and Poets! From beginning to end, every dish was flavorful and fresh. The cauliflower bites were crispy with a creamy dipping sauce. The firecracker shrimp had the perfect amount of spice and the fennel salad complemented it well. I love how inclusive the menu is with halal, and vegan options. Their mocktails are also just as fun as their alcoholic drinks. I ordered the tropical breeze and it took me on a trip to the islands. My main dish was so good, I savored it until every grain of rice was gone. Everything went so well together, with the cream sauce bringing everything together. I can't go without mentioning how attentive and friendly the staff are. Our server, Mariana consistently checked on us and made sure our needs were met. Support a restaurant with a purpose and head over to busboys and poets -- you won't regret it!

Hey friends! We came here to celebrate my godmother's birthday. She's vegan so Busboys & Poets was the perfect place for her. Busboys & Poets is a chic, trendy, inclusive spot that offers traditional American dishes along with an extensive vegan menu. They host open mics often for local artists. My meal was a split decision, I was in the mood for everything lol. I ordered the firecracker shrimp, a side of pancakes and a side of fries. Everything was delicious! Pancakes were fluffy, shrimp was flavorful but not spicy, fries were golden crispy. I ordered a mimosa, which are half off on weekends until 3pm. It was strong! -Customer service was great! Our waiter was attentive and personable. -There are two levels for dine-in as well as an outdoor patio. -There's free garage and lot parking close by. -Gets very busy on weekends, set a reservation! -Prices are average. -Great for groups/parties. I would definitely return to see what their open mic nights are like. Hope you enjoy! With love, The Picky Pescatarian

My friends and I came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. It was a little busy, but we were seated right away as it was an early dinner. Food: My friends and I shared the vegan nachos. They were pretty good, and I enjoyed them! The portion size was great to share. I ordered the vegan bbq beef sandwich with a side salad as my main. The sandwich was pretty good, and I would order it again. The side salad was pretty standard. Service: Service was a little slow. It wasn't too bad as it was a bit busy. Our nachos came out in a timely manner. It took some time for our entrees to come out. TL;DR - Lots of vegan options! Service can be a little slow.

Amazing happy hour AND it's available throughout the restaurant. We OBVIOUSLY ordered TWO of everything. The brussel sprouts and crispy shrimp were the group favorites. I really also liked the lamb meatballs and chicken sliders. I was surprised the vegan nachos looked/ tasted like cheese.

Finally made it to happy hour. Ordered some, wings and a new fashion. Wings were crispy and tasty. The new fashion was a different take of the original drink(old fashion). It was a good drink but a tad sweet to me. I followed up with an original old fashion and it was well done! Shot out to Jill for the great bartending! She had a great attitude and was very attentive. Although it seems like a lot of people were there it wasn't super loud. And the place was very clean.

Busboys and Poets never disappoints when it comes to a chill vibe and seriously good eats. This burger? Juicy, stacked just right, and crowned with a mini pickle for that little extra flair. The sweet potato fries were perfectly crisp--like they knew exactly what my taste buds were craving. Bonus points for a menu that's just as thoughtful as the atmosphere. Whether you're there for the food, the art, or the convo--this spot brings it all together. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20-30

Is there a Sunday brunch buffet?

It's not a buffet. You order off the brunch menu.

How do I make a reservation?

    There are no reservations.

Do you have a parking lot? Is parking free or do you have to pay?

Yes they have a large parking lot right outside of the restaurant. And it's free.

Should I make a reservation for lunchtime on a weekday?

I would definitely make a reservation. I've never seen it easy to walk in, even at lunchtime ☺️

It was spectacular with an order of fresh, garlicky naan. The spicy mango margarita cocktail was also amazing! The service was very good. The ambiance was nice, with an upscale feel. Was a bit skeptical, but for someone who hasn't drank wine in a while, I would definitely come back here just to drink wine! Half off a bottle on Mondays and the appetizers! We had the Charred Octopus and it was amazing! The way it was cooked with the tomatoes and also the flavors were to die for! We ordered two that day. The service was fantastic, the room was clean and cute on the bar side. I was so busy with my octopus and wine that I couldn't bring myself to check out the dining room! We did order the corn crab fritters off the happy hour menu - they were good, but they were not the WOW like the Charred Octopus. Even my boyfriend was impressed and he does not drink wine, but he was definitely all about the Charred Octopus. Now I'm worried since I'm telling you about it, they may run out of Charred Octopus the next time I go visit! I'm hoping to make this a normal Monday thing to have wine and charcuterie, since this place is so cute and awesome! Also, on the plus, I had to mention, the server heard we were celebrating my friends birthday and brought up champagne which was awesome and impressive. Now that is thoughtful service! Save your money. Warning the review is long. TLDR: service is so bad and so expensive for shitty quality food. Though their coffee and sangria were delicious. We were seated promptly and while waiting for the rest of my family arrived the waiter brought us water. He claimed the appetizers were good for sharing so I was expecting the portions to be good. Our party was 8 adults and 2 kids. We got 4 appetizers and it's good we got 4 of them because had we gotten 1 or 2, literally everyone would get like 1/2-1/4 piece of appetizer. So not sure why he said the appetizer was good sharing size. Also I want to note these appetizers are not cheap. They were very expensive for the amount you get. You would think if you paid $20-$22 per app you would get more. Literally paying for an entree with significantly less food. Onto the food: The waiter claimed that the Lemongrass chicken was "juicy". We got two of these and it was SO SO DRY. The Mediterranean salad I got was so salty. And the mussels that I also ordered were disappointing. I want to say 60% of the mussels were closed. This indicates that these might have been undercooked, poor quality or simply did not get checked. The mussels were so salty as well. What really pissed me off is that my mom ordered the shrimp tacos. Nothing complicated about that right? Well they never came out. We find out that there was a mixup so they sent it to a different table and we're "working" on a new one. Tell me why almost two hours later they never came out till we asked for the check? Then they magically come out in a to-go container. Literally the sloppiest mess you can imagine. How is that acceptable? You're telling me it took 2 hours to make this pile of shit? And what's even more absurd is their own menu says it comes with fries. Well in that small ass container they did not include fries. I asked about this and they looked confused and said it should come with fries and that they would get it. I have never experience such ABYSMAL, ATROCIOUS service. Sure the waiters and front staff were nice but nice doesn't make up for the terrible service. Something is going on in the kitchen for sure. Why does it take 1 hour for appetizers to come out. And then 45 min after only 3 people's meals come out. In polite company you would wait for everyone's food to come out to begin eating, but idk what they were doing back there that there was such a delay. Once the 4 of us finished our meal well the 5 people's food comes out, they got an entire order wrong. Ordered a kids pepperoni pizza and they brought cheese. We told the waiter that this was wrong and literally 5 min after he brings what I can say is the SAME DAMN CHEESE PIZZA with pepperoni slices right on top and a bit of Parmesan cheese. We could tell it was the same pizza because the pepperoni were sitting right on top like someone just added it on. We complained to the manager and he brought a new pepperoni pizza that was good this time. We had to ask multiple times for condiments and water refills. I could give a little leeway if this restaurant was so busy but it was not busy at all. Our waiter kept peeking over at us and not coming over like he was scared. And if your service is gonna be this bad, at least the food should be good but no. You have terrible service and shitty food that you're paying $$$ for. And gratuity being included is laughable because the service provided was not worth an almost $80 tip. We had to get up and find the waiter to ask for the check and where the hell the shrimp tacos were. In the end they tried to comp only the pizza and the shrimp tacos, but that was unacceptable. They did comp the appetizers. But they tried to give us brunch vouchers but why the hell would we come back to this place that had terrible service?? Make it make sense. And now that I review the 1 star reviews, it is consistent with everything we experienced. Terrible service, missing food, and hunting down the staff. Also the owner responds to bad reviews with AI responses. Shame.
