Been to this REI a few times and it's super nice and always kept pristine. Employees are helpful if you want anything and there's so much to explore. In a recent time I finally decided I would invest in som hiking shoes, so it was really nice to have help from an employee when I chose several pairs, and then she brought out and extra pair that she said are more comfortable, and well I ended up purchasing that extra pair, thanks to her thoughtfulness. They have just about everything you need here for your backpacking, camping or hiking trip. But it can certainly get spendy. It's all the super high quality brands here so the price does not budge. There's a few sales here and there but that's why I wouldn't shop here so often. But once in a while it's nice and even to get inspiration for outdoors adventures. Something else cool about REI is they offer classes to members & nonmembers to teach you about backpacking, survival tips, and how to prepare for certain trips. I finally went into this REI for the first time looking for some very specific outdoor wear. The people working there were very nice and helpful. The level of assistance and customer service was great. The store didn't have what I was looking for currently in stock, however I was able to order and have it shipped directly to my house, which was great. I took a long look around the store, exploring the offerings and the clearance sections. REI seems to carry some good items and many seem to be of good quality. I went ahead and joined the membership - it seems to have some good perks, and I think that I'll be back to shop again at some point. REI also offers classes on various outdoor-related activities, some are free and some have a fee. It is too soon for me to say what I think of the price or value of the items that they carry. I can say that I paid more than I was hoping to pay for the item that I purchased and haven't yet used it to say if it was worth it. The shelves and racks were well organized, and it was quick and easy to identify what was and was not available. Thus far, I like it. read more

My first time going to REI and was utterly disappointed and embarassed by the customer service. I purchased a pair of Birkenstocks for my wife as a gift on 05/12/2026 at 2:43PM. Mihir kindly assisted me with getting the shoes from the back and handed me the box to proceed to checkout without checking the contents of the box. Lindsay the cashier proposed the membership since it was my first time at the store. I was interested in the membership, but I felt like I should wait until after this purchase to see if I'd want to come back for anything else. Lindsay rang up the shoes and took payment without checking the contents of the box. I hand my wife the Birkenstocks and notice the shoes are not the same. One of the shoes was grabbed from the display shelf and it was not the correct shoe. Of course mistakes happen, but this mistake now costs me another 45 minute trip back to the store. Upon arriving to the store around 5PM, the staff was unsympathetic and took no responsibility for the mistake. Not a single apology or even a thank you after resolving the issue. Instead they ask if I wanted to become a member. Is that really appropriate after having to fix your mistake? You would think a store like REI would act professional in acknowleding their mistake, and attempt to make the situation better by not losing a future customer or future member. The female cashier put the correct shoe in the box and said "You should be good now". End of conversation after having to explain that they sold me the incorrect shoe due to their lack of checking the product. They were confused as to why I had brought back shoes that didn't match and really made it seem like they were not on my side, which was ridiculous because why would I want to purchase a pair of shoes that clearly wasn't what I wanted. I've purchased a pair of Birkenstocks from Tilly's and the staff always double checked that the shoes matched and confirmed the sizing was correct. It's astonishing that REI didn't follow a simple protocol and really has changed my impression of the store after this entire ordeal. Incredibly disappointed by how the staff handled the situation and it was absolutely embarassing having to explain the situation. This transaction felt more like getting a pair of shoes from Walmart or a thrift store or something. I hope REI reads this and improves their customer service for the next time. read more

I saw a pair of shoes in the clearance section and they were $170 with 30% off. Sorry but $50 off a shoe isn't clearance that's just a sale. I found a pair of socks from the garage section. This is a sale area for members only. These socks were possibly used ... they were for certain returned .. I am sorry but what are you smoking to sell returned socks for over $30. This is one of the nicest REIs I have ever been in. I couldn't recommend becoming a member more highly. Your membership is for life, it allows returns for up to a year and tons of additional benefits. This store is so well laid out and the rotating classes and events are great! They even have stickers by locals near the register for impulse buyers like me. Wow!!! This store is HUGE!! If you need anything sports related they have it! I was looking for some workout clothes and I had no problem finding something that I liked. The people that work there are very nice and instead of just saying "It's over there" when you ask for something they walk you over and show you where it's at. The value is ok. The workout clothes I bought was on sale so that was definitely a bonus! Love this store, but wish it was closer! The selections of socks and shoe types was ginormous, and the assistance from the team members in that area was amazing. Really friendly associates; but, also very well-informed and knowledgeable about the shoe fits and what the best options would be. The store also has an incredible selection of outdoor equipment...everything. In the back left corner are slightly used items that have been returned by members that you can get for pretty big discounts. Full disclosure I am not an REI member. I don't buy enough for the perks of membership. How we, I have shopped here a few times over the years. What have I shopped for? Snowboarding clothes. Hiking clothes. Accessories - like a new spout for my camelback and a microfiber liner for a sleeping bag. Shopping in store is dangerous- they have so much stuff you could be there for hours! Instead, I prefer to shop online and pick up when ready. Their website is easy to navigate, when you buy the item they send you a confirmation and then another notification when your order is ready for pickup. I have found that my orders are typically ready really fast. When you arrive, there is a dedicated parking spot for online orders that they will bring to your car when you check in on the email. Otherwise, park and go inside. They'll have your item ready to go, just show your photo ID. Service is always friendly. The store is clean. Parking is pretty good. They have dressing rooms if you wanna try something on. They have a great deal of shoes/boots. They do have a sale rack. They also have rei outlet online. And if you're feeling adventurous, they have trips online you can sign up for to go hike in New Zealand and all kinds of fun places. Great gift spot for outdoorsy people. read more

I'm a long time member and huge fan of REI, and this is a GREAT store! The staff hit that sweet spot of being friendly and ready to help but not in your face. They're also knowledgeable but conversational. One of the reasons REI is my preferred spot for outdoor equipment is that I can speak with people who actually spend time in nature and have opinions about gear based on experience. Yes, please! The selection is awesome and while I was there for a new pair of hiking pants, I wound up adding two shirts to my stash. Both were great deals and fit well. I prefer the fit of "men's" pants (by measurements rather than ambiguous "sizes") and while some silly customer made sure to proclaim that they were "men's" pants, I'd like to affirm right here that clothes don't have a gender. The cashier, on the other hand, was super cool. So whatever. As usual, I already have a plan for my next visit. There are a few items I realize I need and that list seems to grow all the time. Love this place. Just walking in and you feel welcome but not overwhelmed with sales employees. When I do have a question, I've never felt that I couldn't ask someone and not receive helpful information. Occasionally you'll get someone who thinks they know just a little too much if you catch my drift but that's what they're there for, right? Prices are reasonable and I trust their brands. They're return policy can't be beat and if you're a Co-op member then you can shop at their garage sale. Only down part is that they share a parking lot with a brunch spot so parking on the weekend mornings is dicey. read more

I recently attended one of their classes. This was a talk put on by an expert in outdoor adventures and sponsored by a Backpacker magazine. In my opinion classes are one of best benefits of being an REI member besides their return policy. This event was free to all who showed up. REI staff had set up folding chairs in the parking lot near the entrance to the store. BACKPACKER Magazine's ambassador, Randy Propster, is an expert in the outdoor industry. He spends over 200 days out of the year on the road, pursuing his passions---hiking, backpacking, camping, and outdoor adventure of all kinds! The interactive 90-minute seminar educated and inspired participants while covering a wide range of topics including: backpacking essentials, the latest in gear and apparel, living a van life, survival skills, trail-tested tips. At the end they gave away a lot (40 or more) raffle door prizes but I did not win. I did get some fun giveaway samples, protein bars and REI swag. read more

I do not shop at Rei often because of the location but when I do make a point of driving out of my way the staff is always friendly and the store is clean. On my last visit my daughter called ahead of time to inquire about their Patagonia inventory. We had a long list of items that we wanted to purchase for an upcoming hiking trip. She was assured that they stocked a significant amount of Patagonia items. It turned out that it is a true statement but they did not have a single item off of our long shopping list. While shopping I asked questions to three different employees that were on the sales floor. Each employee was familiar with their inventory and quickly able to assist. read more

Such a pretty store! First time in and enjoyed the good service and the pretty environment. Feel like this is like Anthropology but for the outdoorsy type people. The bike repair area, hanging paddle boards, and lots of displays of stretchy hiking pants surrounded me. All the items arranged in a way to arouse your senses, wake up your instincts, and make you feel like you need get outside way more often than you actually do. The store is a bit pricey, but I get it, buy only what you really need to travel light. There are lots of gadgets, knapsacks, clothes, and various items for warmth. In Florida we really don't need all of these things, just some of them. If you're planning to travel to a national park or go camping, this store if perfect for picking up essentials. Really like that there is a lifetime membership for $20 and you get special invites, discounts, and coupons. Also, in the back of the store is a meeting area for REI classes like yoga, photography, and travel planning. Love they they are fostering a sense of community with local events and learning. Will be back to buy a few select items that are definitely worth the price for upcoming travel and maybe drop in for a class. read more

I can't help it. I love REI. I remember being super excited when this location opened up. The staff is always super friendly and very helpful. You can easily talk with anyone there about your needs and if they can't help you they know someone else on the staff that can. It's a very comfortable feeling in the store and it is always well stocked. I'm a member and I highly recommend that program as well. You get to shop the garage sale items as well as they throw a few special sales every year. They also give you dividends to spend in the store. That's a must for me. read more

REI is fairly new to Florida, but luckily it is working it's way South and West. If you have never been, it is all all-encompassing outdoor enthusiast store. Its pretty crunchy, so they dont sell guns and ammo. It is a place for exploring..camping, biking, kayaks, mountain climbing, etc. They carry all the high end brands for extreme treks..north face, patagonia, osprey, etc, but also have a really well made store brand that is significantly cheaper and always works just as well in my experience. REI is also a co-op, so you pay a one time $20 fee, and then get an annual dividend, which is a certain percentage of your spending on regular priced items. Pair this with a 20% off sale that they run, and you can get some good gear at a nice price. As far as this location goes, its new and wonderful. The parking lot isn't huge, but you can park in the large lot next door. They offer classes and seminars on all different sorts of subjects, so check the calendar on that. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can schedule complimentary pack shakedowns, backpack fittings, and other things. being from the North, I have always relied on REI for my outdoor gear, and am happy there is finally a location in Florida. I was an REI Co-Op virgin until this location opened recently in Winter Park. Although I am not into camping or outdoor adventures, I am definitely into Yoga-wear by Lucy and Chacos sport sandals and Hydro-Flask! This place is brand new and located in WInter Park Shopping Village where Chambelain's used to be next to Another Broken Egg. Tons of gear up in here, y'all. Patagonia, Camel Back, Eagle Creek and Columbia are a few more brands they stock. We went the 1st Saturday after they opened and lots of the sizes in men's Chacos were sold out. Guess I'll they underestimated their popularity! The customer service was really good in spite of the high volume of customer traffic the day we visited. Prices were competitive. read more

I've been to this location several times. Everyone is great. I have yet to have any problems with the staff. I'm satisfied with the staff's knowledge. No one is going to know every little thing about all of the products. They will help my look it up or look it up for more technical specs. No one is going to use every product they have. They have good info about the products they have used or customers claims on the items. I have zero problem returning an unused item and service. It's funny that the Florida REI doesn't have snow stuff lol. I guess the Colorado REI doesn't have deep sea fishing gear. Just my guess. ;) I'm pleased with the store. Not as big as I expected it to be but it's very well organized and the selection is incredible. I was really surprised by the wide selection of products available here. There was a good amount of cold weather and rock climbing gear that I wouldn't not expect any store in Florida to have. I love how friendly and knowledgeable the staff is. They're great and were super helpful with gear and sizing recommendations. I love that all around the store there are plenty of displays that help you to understand the features of gear or the ins and outs of a sport. It's great to get a basic understanding from these displays and then talk to the staff about your sporting good needs. read more

4 Stars for a fab outdoors store with pretty good service and a great return policy! I visited REI for my first time recently and was overwhelmed by the beautiful displays and crazy tools I'll never need, but HAVE TO HAVE. As I perused, I found myself wandering like a lost puppy. A sales associate saw me and asked if I was looking for something specific, to which I answered that I am going camping and need a few things, but I don't even truly know what I need. It was clear I was not in my element. *flummoxed would be an appropriate description here* She asked me to describe the camping I'd be doing and kept asking, "Is it car camping?" And I kept saying no because I would be camping in a tent. Finally she explained that car camping meant when you drive up to a camping spot and set up your tent near where you park. And then she laughed and said, "so, you're glamping." Was that a tad of shade being through my way? Did I feel a tinge of condescension? I'm not gonna lie, I did. For this city gal, anything in a tent is outdoorsy af and definitely not what I'd consider "glamping." But to an REI employee, I guess I was a noob. If I could offer a suggestion, I'd say that you can turn off new, green adventurers by minimizing their adventuring... Besides that, she was somewhat helpful by pointing to the section I'd want to peruse. But then I found my true REI sherpa. Alicia, helped me find the perfect hiking shoes for my "glamping." (not bitter, I promise...) I had legit worn out my previous hiking shoes over ten years to the point that they literally fell apart at the end of my last big hike. Alicia was informative, knowledgeable, and totally understood when I said that I didn't want something too heavy duty, but needed traction and for it to be waterproof. Then she told me about the REI membership ($20 one-time fee) that gives you great deals and access to fun classes and I was sold! In terms of prices, they're not cheap. BUT, I dig their stance on returns and the company culture in general, so I wasn't too bummed to spend the money. Luckily, I was able to return a few things that I ended up not needing on the camping trip with no questions asked. Overall, a great shop. It's not anywhere as big as a Bass Pro Shops (that I've been to a lot), but it feels more inviting and the staff is, for the most part, available and kind. read more

Absolutely grateful for REI. I traveled all the way from Miami to buy a Thule Roof Rack which i initially ordered from Travel Country Outfitters and as soon as i arrived there, they installed the carho box to my car then as soon as i was about to drive away, i made a split decision to try and open the box and it wouldn't open, only to fond out the cargo box in which i paid for more than 800 bucks was defective/cracked. The staff at Travel Country new they were installing a cracked box on my car and yet they did anyways and thought they were gonna get away with it but that split decision i made Just saved me a whole lot of travel. I immediately contacted REI and a nice yoong woman was able to help me out immediately, so I drove there and was able to purchase a new and non defective cargo box. I'm very happy with my purchase, I can't be thankful enough cuz i really needed it on my ling road trip across the country. read more

I had been in this store once with no actual purchase. But, this time my girlfriend and I were there to purchase triathlon bikes. We met a very kind red headed associate who was very knowledgeable. She walked us through our options and even allowed us to test drive a couple of the bikes and seats. When we went to purchase them, they tested them, made sure they were in working order before leaving. They even gave us complimentary water bottles. I was blown away by their kindness. In the end, we choose one of the lighter options with an upgraded seat. read more

Checked out this place to see what the hubbub was about. If you're an adventurer who loves the outdoors , this is your playground. They have everything you could possible need for cycling, hiking, camping, kayaking, the list goes on! While it's not really a place I would frequent, it was neat to browse and wander the store which is stunning by the way. There is also a rather extensive clothing section for women. I saw many familiar brands like Lucy (Loooove), Brooks, Patagonia. REI even has their own line of clothing. Also, good to know that they offer free classes to the public for everything from bike maintenance to camp cooking basics! Make sure to check the chalkboard in store. They also list some community events that they partner with. While I don't really have a need for any of their services/products at the moment- so nice to have them nearby if I ever do! read more

Careful walking into this store, because you WILL, upon entry, feel called to hike the pacific crest trail and spend all of your money on camping gear, windbreakers, and freeze dried macaroni and cheese. His rudeness occurs every time I attempt to purchase something from the bike shop. Today was no exception. I love REI. I've been a member for a while. Joined at the Asheville NC store when it opened in 2008. This is a fantastic business, and I am so glad to have one here in Orlando. The selection in this particular store is pretty good, especially for being so far from the "mountains." The staff are very knowledgable and helpful. They have sales fairly frequently, and even if you pay full price, the value is appropriate, as the brands they carry are high quality. And you get the dividend back next spring if you are a member. read more
