Took 10 yrs to find perfect wind resist GORE TEX, breathable, urban/hiking/winter/summer waterproof longer jkt
    Tara H.

I have been a LONG long 30 year customer of REI in Minneapolis, Mn and now at the beautiful new airy spotless store in Sarasota. I buy ALL our waterproof/down/ UV resistant / breathable summer and winter clothing and comfort footwear (urban city and rugged outdoors) for the entire family from REI. My Seattle born father climbed the Cascades and Tetons and took us camping hiking canoeing in New York's beautiful Adirondacks each year then cross country to Bryce, Zion, the Tetons, northern rim of the Grand Canyon, Black Hills, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley 60 years ago. I hitchhiked at age 20 with friends from San Francisco to Vancouver with a 70 lb backpack then took the Canadian National train ( now gone) via Jasper all the way to above Detroit. What is especially fabulous about REI's HUGE selection of products ( online) is the top TOP quality of new innovative materials, deep thought/care in manufacture by many of these once tiny companies, and outstanding long long wear and durability. Washing cleaning all these items is easy thanks to their excellent cleaning products. REI, a Co-operative, has not sacrificed resourcing the very best quality they can locate. They have not become a "mass marketer" like once excellent LL Bean. Instead REI relies very heavily upon their hundreds of consumer product reviews ( which I meticulously read before any purchase). REI genuinely LISTENS to their consumer base!! AND! Their online frequent sales, some short unexpected, are legendary! I did 70% of all my Xmas shopping at REI - - great stocking stuffers too. I became addicted to their 10 grams of protein ProBars 20 years ago- - a must have for ALL my trips. Enjoy!

Check out my new porto potty. Ready to hike!!!

This is the ultimate in outdoors stores. It's the Whole Foods of hiking, camping, paddling, cycling, rock climbing, and power bar-ing. They have it all. Florida is flat and warm. But walking through here you can imagine rappeling in the alps, ice climbing in Patagonia, camping in Yellowstone, and fly fishing in Canada. Hiking boots, $140 cork gripped aluminum hiking "sticks", camping gear. They've got you covered. Bike repairs? Check. And Whole Foods is right around the corner. So after you worked up an appetite trekking around the shop you can go over and replenish your food store. This is the life. Tampa had made it. We riiiiiiiiich!!!!! I love that there was a nerdy bro in Zelda shirt and hipsters all over. My people!!!

The store for hikers, bikers, campers, cyclists, runners and all outdoorsmen. Lots of equipment and apparel for the sports enthusiast. Go here to get totally outfitted. Ask for 23% discount coupon good for one item of REI label product. Easy deck parking in the new Midtown multi-use complex.

LOVE REI it's a great store and this location is fancy shmancy as it gets. The selection is pretty boutique-y and so they are happy to order items for you. The customer service we experienced was 5 stars and above. I love the super localized touches. Plenty of paddle boards and water sports toys available in addition to the traditional hiking and camping gear that first comes to mind when you think of REI.

Third - able to fix it right then! I also loved that they had a lot of bicycle merchandise, including riding clothing and hats. After having a rear flat tire on my bicycle, and having a local shop unable to fix the problem, I brought my bike here. The worker put it up on rack, showed me how the new tape I just paid for at the other shop was put on incorrectly, AND showed me that my tire had see through patches on it, and clearly needed to be replaced. My tape, tire and tube were replaced, the cost was reasonable, and I was in and out of the shop in under half an hour. This is my new bike repair shop.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience. I brought my e-bike in to have a tube replaced and…read moresupplied the replacement tube myself, which I had already purchased on Amazon. The bike was in the shop for less than an hour, yet I was charged $80 just for the labor. That price feels excessive for such a straightforward repair. I believe local businesses should charge fair, transparent rates, and this experience left me feeling taken advantage of. I prefer supporting local shops, but it's hard to justify coming back after this. The owner should take a closer look at their pricing because this kind of experience drives loyal customers away.

Alex seems to be the most helpful on the staff. I have called proactively to get updates and being ignored. I really want to support local biz here in Tampa/St. Pete but feel deflated and full of regret. I really don't want to post a 1 star review, but reading the others, clearly I'm not alone. They underestimated me as someone who works in PR and has access to all the cycling publications in the U.S., and local press including Tampa Bay Times, St. Pete Catalyst, and more. I will also get it inspected upon arrival by a trusted local shop near me in St Pete. Spoke to Carlos on the phone today and he didn't have the tracking number. Had to go "chase it down" from the Specialized sales rep. I now know what is likely going on: They are purposely delaying shipments and using customer deposits on expensive bikes as interest free loans to boost short-term liquidity. This is not only deceptive biz practices, but a directly violation of the FTC's rules and regulations. I'm prepared to file a report if I do get answers in the next hour.

My LBS (local bike shop) David's World Cycle - Carrollwood, has gone above and beyond, resulting in a supporting patron, a happy customer, and someone that will gladly return for future business. So what happened? My wife got a new bike via a promotional program at work, not our LBS. The crew at DWC took us in, despite repetitive return visits they were always patient with us regarding any issue with the bike. Today I got a call from the store manager to find that they had contacted Trek Bikes directly and got my wife a brand new bike. There are more details to go into but in short, they went above and beyond what we expected of them, took initiative, and remembered that taking care of the customer is always good business. I shamefully don't remember everyone's name but THANK YOU! Erik, Matt, Andrew, and crew. Thank you making my wife happy and reminding me that interpersonal relationships make customers for life!

I brought my Trek FX+ 1S to Trek Carrollwood with less than 90 miles on it and under three months…read moreof ownership. The reasons for my visit were a noticeable "thunk" noise from the motor, a spongy feeling in the front brake, and routine service. After inspecting the bike, the technician contacted me and told me the rear brake system had suffered a "catastrophic failure" and that the entire brake system needed to be replaced. I was told this would include new brake levers, hydraulic lines, calipers, and rotors, and that if they serviced the front brake it would likely have the same outcome. I was also told the motor thunk was considered "normal," despite the fact that I own another Trek FX+ 1S that does not make this noise. I was informed that the bike was not safe to ride because of the condition of the brakes. This was surprising because the bike had fewer than 90 miles on it, and the rear brake had been functioning normally when I brought it in. Before authorizing hundreds of dollars' worth of parts, I decided to take the bike home. I purchased a hydraulic brake bleed kit from Amazon and performed a brake bleed myself. The entire process took about five minutes, and the brakes immediately felt normal again. No replacement of levers, calipers, lines, or rotors was necessary. What concerns me most is that when I asked where the alleged catastrophic failure actually was, the technician couldn't identify the specific failed component or explain what had failed. Recommending replacement of an entire hydraulic braking system without being able to identify the failure point did not inspire confidence. Additionally, the technician did not reply back to my text messages when I followed up with questions. I'm disappointed because I expected accurate diagnostics from a Trek dealer, especially on a nearly new bike. Instead, I left feeling that expensive parts replacement was being recommended without sufficient evidence, while my original concern about the motor noise was dismissed as "normal." Based on this experience, I have lost confidence in the service department at this location and will be seeking service elsewhere in the future.
