I need new sneakers for upcoming 5k training I will be doing. I was greeted when I came in and had help finding the right fit. The young lady who helped me watched me walk to help figure out what type of shoe (neutral, support etc.) would work best for my feet. She brought out pairs of sneakers and explained what they did and why she picked them. To help get a better feel to the shoe I was able to walk outside the shop to test the shoes. That helped me tell differences between each shoe and helped me pick a shoe. I went with a pair of ASICS. Just a heads up they are a bit more pricey than the retail value of the sneakers. I would shop here again when I need shoes in the future. read more

This is a great shoe store. The woman who ran the place when I was there was very helpful and really knows her stuff. I have all kinds of weird feet issues and she found me a pair of shoes that worked well and was really helpful. Illl be back for another pair soon. read more

I didn't feel like dealing with the mall over a holiday weekend, so I headed to Feet First. Unfortunately, this location is in the same strip mall as a popular coffee joint, and I actually had to wait for someone to leave before I could park. Inside, I was the only customer. A young adult came over to help me, and when I told them I was in the market for some shoes to exercise walk in, they looked at me in horror and said, "But this is a RUNNING store!". I confirmed that I knew that, but also that I was pretty sure they would have some shoes for me anyway. I then consulted with the Manager, who right away had some suggestions. I really liked the pair of New Balance she recommended, and I left content with new shoes and socks. Expensive, but my feet are worth it. read more

Bought shoes for my thick-footed son. He seems happy with them. Seemed like good selection and woman was nice who worked with him for fitting. I live in Tampa and was looking for a new pair of running shoes. My friend recommended Feet First. Customer service was excellent - the manager/owner herself helped me. She picked out 8 + pairs and let me test each of them out outside. There were no time constraints - her only concern was I love the pair of shoes I purchased. She watched my walk, looked at the bottom of my feet and was diligent in her questions so that I could find the perfect pair. She even picked out inserts (different ones for each foot) that have allowed my feet to be more stabilized during my runs. Not sure there is someone more knowledgeable in the industry! I highly recommend visiting this store for running shoes and/or any running apparel for that matter. The cost of the new running shoes with inserts was less than the cost of the pair I had been wearing for years - that I had been purchasing online. Great value. For running, you should always go to a retail establishment to test out the shoes before purchasing. I will be buying all my pairs of running shoes from this store. Highly recommend. read more

I was recommending Feet First to a friend today​ and realized I've never written a Yelp review. My bad! My husband and I both have had wonderful purchasing experiences at Feet First. So when my 96-year-old mother moved to Tampa and needed supportive, stable shoes, Feet First was my first and only stop. Danny, our sales adviser, was amazing. He had endless patience, pulling out a number of athletic shoes for her to try and cataloging​ her reaction to each. He finally narrowed it down to a couple of pairs -- which she loved. One pair needed to be ordered in the correct size, and when we went in to pick them, Danny met her at the door and gave her a big hug. Mom felt so special, and her smile meant the world to me. Feet First is spectacular. They don't stop until they've found the exact right shoe for your individual needs. And what's more, they've proven they care about their customers as people! She was very thorough and patient in helping me find the best shoe for me. I was recommended by my Orangetheory Fitness coach to come here. They are my new go to store for shoes based on just one visit. Before I came here, I went to American Running Company in Clearwater. Never again. Their staff was nice but they definitely did not know what shoe was best for my feet. I am used to running in Asics and somehow they recommended Brooks (which gave me arch pain after my first run) and then Sauconys (also way too supportive). I had to ask the store manager to go against their policy and refund me, which she politely did. After all that hassle, I came to Feet First and was greeted by a very friendly associate (who I later found out was Nicki, the store manager). She looked at my stance and my walk, and then brought out 4 pairs of shoes. I liked the first pair of New Balance I tried on and bought them today. Did my first session at OrangeTheory and no pain! Only minor shin splints at first which I understand is normal for new shoes as you break them in. But these shoes are great and I can't wait to wear them for a long run! Ever since I was a child, shopping for shoes has been one of the most laborious chores for everyone. My mom dreaded taking me to shop for shoes because I always wanted them to be cute but comfortable (read:: i hate heels). So, when I needed a new pair of running sneakers, I gave careful consideration on where to go. My first thought was to go to fit2run, but the thought about dealing with the mall anxiety on top of my shoe anxiety was too stressful. I decided to try out feet first- and I'm so glad I did!! The guy helping me was so patient and knowledgable. He evaluated my walk and then brought me 8 pairs of sneakers to start with.... and then (this is the best part)...he walked away!! He gave me a few min to sort through the sneakers- and even let me run outside in them. He got me new sizes of the ones I liked, and helped make sure they fit right. He wasn't pushy- he didn't try to "sell" me on any one shoe in particular. He asked for feedback on shoes I didn't like, so he knew which ones to pull next. After 30 minutes, I had narrowed it down to 2 pairs, and after lots of test running, settled on a pair. He confirmed my decision saying that the Brooks i had decided on were "technically better built" but he didnt want to tell me that earlier so as to not sway my decision in comfort. Great inventory, solid knowledgeable and friendly staff. Looking for tail running shoes and they knew to pull out 2 types. Found the perfect Nike Wild Horse model, they knew the heel drop and fave good information about sunglasses - Yep bought a great pair of Boston Bills 57796 that didn't rest on my cheekbones! Super happy with my experience. Patiently answered questions about Garmin watches too. Ran from downtown hotel here 4 miles and across the parking lot was a Starbucks where I downed a couple of peach teavana's. A perfect ending to a great shopping experience. This is the best local running store in the S. Tampa area. The people there are knowledgeable, they carry a lot of stock, and they are always there to answer questions. When I started training for my first half marathon they made me feel less 'lost' and set me up with everything I needed to be successful. Now I'm thinking about doing a tri and I have noticed that they have a pretty good selection of tri suits/goggles/ect. I feel like it's a good neighborhood place where a lot of high school track and cross country kids work. They are runners themselves so I trust what they tell me. The only thing I wish they carried more of was vibrams and other minimalist shoes but they are certainly getting more of them in stock now verses when I first started shopping there. read more

Stopped in to get a new pair of running shoes. Took a long time to get a pair I was good with (I have bad scar tissue on one foot). Emily took a really long time to help me trying on different brands/sizes. She was great. Also, as I custom cut the insole on my scarred foot, she gave me new inserts that customers had removed when upgrading their insole, or whatever. The best place in town to be fitted for running shoes! I have never been to sporting goods store that had such a knowledgeable staff. They had me stand on the floor and were able to tell me that I was pronating inward and exactly what type of running shoe I needed. They also helped me with the correct insole for my arch. I never related my lower back pain to lack of arch support, but I'm already saving money at the chiropractor by having properly fitted shoes and support. Also, they have the latest trends in clothing, equipment, gadgets and energy foods for running! I can't say enough about my experience with them! Well worth it! read more

I was given time to walk in the store, try on a few pairs of shoes although my first pair was what I picked and they fit great! Ran my 10k last weekend without issue. After reading a detailed article about the value of choosing specialty running stores over big name chains, I decided to buy my next pair of running sneakers here - primarily due to the rave online reviews. My experience left me hugely disappointed. The saleswoman did have me walk about five steps away from her and back while she watched, but that was the extent of her assessment of my potential needs. She didn't measure my foot, have me run, ask me any questions regarding my running routine or goals, ask if I liked a particular color or brand, if I was looking for anything specific or had any problems or questions - in fact, she basically just dragged out six or seven pair of sneakers in my size and silently acted bored and remote while I tried them all on. I received none of the knowledge or expertise I anticipated - instead, I was given the sort of assistance and guidance I would expect from a detached teenager grudgingly working a part time, after school job. I basically went out of my way to receive customer service that was subpar to a larger chain store with sneakers that were much higher in price. Interestingly, I went to a different specialty running store in the area the very next day and had a completely opposite experience. The saleswoman measured my feet and tested my arches, then had me run on a treadmill while she recorded my gait. She played the recording back in slow motion, pointing out how I pronated, then brought out several different sneakers for me to try on. She explained the different features of each and why the style would help with my pronation, taking her time despite steady store traffic and allowing me to run on the treadmill in each pair. I not only bought a pair of sneakers before leaving, but paid extra to join their loyalty program knowing I'd definitely be back. THAT'S good customer service - something Feet First decidedly lacks. read more

While the selection is very good the the salesperson tried to sell shoes to my daughter that were too big instead of calling the St. Pete store to see if they had the correct size. She did call after I requested and they had them. As for price since the shoes are Brooks every place has the same price. The wrong size was not just an opinion it was very obvious that the shoes were a full size too large. She wanted to make a sale even it was wrong. No integrity! I have purchased my last 2 pairs of shoes from Feet First. Although they are a little more on the pricy side the customer service is worth it (especially if you have a groupon). Every time I have visited this location I have been greeted and assisted the moment I have entered. I love how they take the time to personalize your visits and watch you walk to gage your gait and talk to you about what you are going to be doing in the tennis shoes. Each the staff has made several selections for me and spent the entire time with me as I walked around to see what felt the best. Both pairs of shoes I have purchased from Feet First have been better than any shoes I have picked out for myself and they have also helped me discover how much of a difference buying nice socks can make on your work out! read more

Have never left a bad review for anything in my life. My experience was so extraordinary that I felt compelled to write something for others. Went in the store with my daughter who needed sneakers for high school cross country. The only employee in the store was a woman named Nicki. She was so nasty and rude it was remarkable. Sneering at us, slamming the boxes with the sneakers down on the floor, huffing, rolling eyes. It was so bad she was literally GRITTING her teeth and looked like she was forcing herself to form words when she HAD to actually address us. It was probably one of the worst 'customer service' experiences I've ever had in my 45 years on this planet. To boot- their prices are CRAZY. Please safe yourself the aggravation and just go to The Running Store off Dale Mabry in Carrollwood- they are super nice and helpful in there and always with a smile! Nicki should try this some time! This place is run by a lesbian named Amy Mandel and she instructs her employees to get the highest cost for the lowest amount of customer service. I met with a great woman named Lisa who took the time to fit me properly and find me the right pair of running shoes. One Ms. Mandel entered everyone who was employed there had to stop and bow to her, I never got the shoes I wanted and suddenly the discounted price I was told was gone. Ms. Mandel told me if I wanted to find those prices to go to Walmart or a "Big Box" store. The manager "Nicki" did nothing but stand there and look at Amy Mandel.
