Needed to replace an aging poorly engineered and constructed patio and side entrances. Having interviewed three contractors it became apparent it was a sketchy business and that experience matters. We interviewed two additional contractors and found John of Reid Concrete, the conversation, knowledge and approach was completely different. The job site had multiple level and drainage problems on all three sides which required considerable dirt to be removed beyond the concrete thickness which is difficult to assess until the concrete is removed. Reid Concrete was the only contractor that committed to a job specification and cost that guaranteed they would keep removing dirt until the correct levels were attained on all three sides sufficient to install multiple new drains which all had to drain to the front of the building, not an easy task by any means. Additionally, it was prudent to renew the weap screed flashing and stucco above the concrete line on the 1974 building. Reid arranged and handled the subcontracted specialty work beyond expectations which has made such a long term improvement. With guidance from John we selected a "sand finish" concrete which adds a higher quality/designer look instead of flat no-nothing concrete. My photo file sizes appear to be too large to upload but believe me the excavation, sand/road base, and drainage system is impressive as was the concrete pour and finish work. Additionally, they ran irrigation and landscape feeds for future use and took it upon themselves to replace a balcony post footing anchor to improve the appearance of the new patio. I waited to write this review until the recent rains in order to assess the true results of the drainage - it is perfect! Not a surprise having watched the caring and impressive supervisor and his crew laser-level every direction multiple times. A long review, but for those interested in getting it right and feel good about every aspect of the job we highly recommend John and Reid Concrete. read more

I graduated as a Landscape Architect and was very impressed with the whole process. This covered good communication, responsiveness, professionalism, thoroughness and integrity. I could see how they went above and beyond in things that couldn't be seen by the consumer. Some examples is using heavy duty galvanized post holders. They could have easily used the $30 ones instead of the $90 ones. Or they put the rebar around 18" on center. I have seen some companies use 3' spacing before. I could go on, but you get the idea. I highly recommend them without hesitation. The pricing is middle range and the value is above and beyond what I could have hoped for. May 27, 2020 . I left a detailed vm for Mr. Reid explaining exactly the type of work I wanted performed. He called back and asked what I wanted as though I hadn't left all the details. Not too big a deal but irritating. I went over the specifics (simple side driveway) and setup a time for him to come out. He came out the next morning to my house, met my son who then called me saying Mr Reid wanted to know what I wanted done? I spoke with Mr Reid, going over the specifics a 3rd time (5" fiber pour over rebar) and he said he would send me a written estimate via email. I also texted Mr Reid the details on May 28, 2020 at 11:31 am. No estimate and zero follow up. Very disappointed. My plans were very intricate with measurements and layout down to the inch - they executed flawlessly.
