He consulted with us prior to commencing our project and are glad we followed all of his recommendations because the outcome was better than we could have hoped! We have a 50+ year old Spanish colonial style home with stucco walls and adobe brick, but the exterior planter boxes were built with regular brick that didn't match the house and also had 50 years of accumulated efflorescence. Ulisses rebuilt the planter boxes with concrete block then faced them with a matching adobe brick veneer and the result was so outstanding we also had him reface our fountain and part of the entryway. Mendosa Masonry was a very professional company that does exceptional work. They extended our block wall 15 feet, removed a concrete stone firepit and planter wall, added concrete in the corner of the yard, and built a BBQ seating bar. Bidding went easy and they were priced very competitively. Ulisses was always very friendly throughout the project and informed me of each step. His team are skilled, and they always clean up after themselves. Of the work I mentioned above, these were 3 different projects. I live in a HOA residential community. I was rquired to repair a retaining wall on my property. I found Mendoza Masonry. Contacted Ulisses who came out and gave a reasonable quote for the job. The wall had large cracks and a visible opening. A real eye sore. Within five days Ulisses came out to do the work. After completing the job I couldn't even tell the wall was ever in disrepair. The HOA was also satisfied. Mendoza Masonry is a small family business. Ulisses took over the company from his father. He worked with both me and the next door neighbor by splitting the invoice and contacting the neighbor separately for their half of the payment. A few weeks up to the job start date, he communicated often and was very professional. In fact the crew was also very professional, and the entire experience was perfect. The wall also came out great. They dug a deep trench, laid rebar and poured the foundation and then built the wall on top of it. Ulisses said it would take 3 days but it actually took only 2. Ulisses Mendoza did a fantastic job repairing a front planter bin where one side had completely separated due to a large tree root. He removed that wall section and preserved the original used red brick on top. He properly rebuild that section using rebar this time and proper footing. Then he made many small repairs in my brick walkway and some walls, by replacing several cracked bricks and fill in cracks. He built backwalls in my brick planter bins against the house that were original done without it such that it now complies with building code and protects the house siding from dirt and water. I can highly recommend him to my neighbors in Portola Hills and Lake Forest. He is easy to work with and his quality of work is outstanding! His prices are in line with industry practices. We hired Mendoza Masonry to apply waterproofing to the back wall of a planter which runs along the side of our house. They also installed a French drain in the planter and raised the existing sprinklers to the correct height. Ulysses and his crew did a wonderful job from start to finish. They carefully dug out the existing plants so that we can replant them. They showed us each stage of progress along the way so that we could verify it was done the way we wanted.
