I cant say enough positive things about Reid's. I purchased a new suit and went to Reid's on a recommendation, and I am so happy I did. I needed the length of my pants tailored as well as having my coat taken in. The suit fit better than any other pair of pants or sport coat I've had tailored anywhere else. They are very precise in their measurements and took their time to make sure everything was perfect. I would consider the pricing consistent with other tailors, but the quality of the fit they deliver is unsurpassed. They are a small, hole-in-the-wall, but what they deliver is better than any other tailor in the city. I live by the Panhandle, but I will always go to Union to see Reid's for what I need tailored. Women of the Marina, look no further than Reid's for your alteration needs! Last Saturday after I got my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding back from a different alterations place in the East Bay and it was completely botched, I needed help immediately. I went to Reid's and they completely fixed it within 3 days!! As soon as I walked in the door they put me at ease. They immediately identified the issues that I had been trying to communicate previously and more. When I tried on the newly altered dress yesterday, i could have cried from joy. Never have I had a dress go from looking so bad on me to so great! The arm holes and straps were cut and moved to perfectly fit my frame. They entirely redid the lining of the dress (since the previous seamstress had it misaligned it) so that there is no pulling or bunching. I can now confidently attend my sister's this weekend and know that the dress is complimentary rather than completely distracting. Thank you Reid's! read more

I was absolutely amazed at the outcome- Edward is truly talented and knows what he is doing. Ed is the best tailor I've ever encountered. He has awesome stories about China where he was the utmost important tailor. One suggestion, don't take just any ole alterations to Ed. He's super busy so it's a waste of his time and your money, to get something as simple as hemming of jeans. Take your most delicate and difficult alterations to Ed along with a big helping of respect. He seems to get the most spoiled persons who bring in a heaping 5 bags of crap. Ed does excellent work and has a great eye for proportion. I was a little hesitant at first, because his shop is a little messy and he doesn't exactly dress well (my tailor when I lived in NJ was an immaculately dressed Italian gentleman), but now I trust him with anything. The stitching on my dresses and pants and coats is perfect. If you bring him a something with a print, he will make sure that the prints still match at the seams and won't just randomly cut. I had him shorten the straps of a dress with a leather bodice, and when I put the dress on, he took one look at me and said "your shoulders are uneven" and then measured both straps to make sure that the bodice wouldn't look lopsided in the end. I saw the high yelp rating and decided to give this place a try. I guess I should have paid attention to the small sample size of the reviews. I went here with a suit and two pairs of pants. First he told me that he couldn't take in the suit jacket in the back because it was a double vent. That really doesn't make any sense, and I guess I should have considered that a bad omen. I didn't want to push him to do something he didn't feel comfortable doing, so I just asked him to take in the sleeves a little. When I got my suit back, there was a stain on the front of it. As mentioned by another reviewer, his store is a mess. I guess I can't say I wasn't warned, but that was frustrating to immediately have to take my suit to the dry cleaners and pay another $15 to have it cleaned. The suit pants weren't taken in enough in the waste and were too long. I thought my two other pairs of pants, which only needed to be cuffed, turned out fine, but have since realized one leg is longer than the other on one of the pairs. I'm really kind of astonished at how bad the work was. All of this took almost two weeks and cost $90 (excluding the additional cleaning). I'm in the market for a new tailor. read more

Yali is so nice and creative. I am very happy with how well they have altered my dresses and pants. They're very and have a lot of creative ideas. I brought my leather dress and wasn't sure if someone could make one size bigger. They cut some leather inside and sewn on both side. That comes up a very good idea how to make the dress bigger without changing the original design. The price that Yali charged for alterations was very reasonable. I would absolutely come back. Edward is awesome. He is pretty old-school in style but he is uncompromising at his craft. Unfortunately for me I have to have all my clothes altered before they will fit, so I rely on Edward to do the job right the first time. He has not done me wrong in close to 10 years now. Strongly recommended. UPDATE: Edward is retiring! At first I was not happy about this, but he has a really good crew taking over as he transitions out. I recently bought a made to measure suit and after receiving it I struggled to get it fit properly by the vendor. After much back and forth I decided to take it to Reid's and have it done properly. They measured my coat and lined up some fairly severe alterations. I came back for another fitting and we found a couple of small corrections which they made and when I picked it up today it was perfect and the price was quite reasonable.
