I used this cleaner for about 9 months, and up until recently, everything was great. I felt a personal connection with the staff, and they knew me by name. However, I recently took in a new dress and when I got it back, it was completely ruined: missing buckle, frayed edges. Despite having a photo of me in the dress in perfect condition right before I brought it in, they accused me of bringing it in that way and refused to take responsibility. They continued to say I could've had a friend bring it in before since the print was recognizable...even after I told them it is a very expensive & popular brand to which I'm sure they've seen the print and possibly same dress. Furthermore I am fairly new to the city and don't have friends here. I was a loyal customer coming in 2x a month. I'm incredibly disappointed and won't be returning and advise anyone not to come here, especially if you have nicer clothes. read more

I don't even know what to say about the experience that I had at this business today. I went to pick up my outfit for a holiday party an hour before I had to leave for the event. I had dropped off the clothes 5 days prior with assurances it would be done by Wednesday. I went to pick it up on Thursday and it was never sent out and had been crumpled in a bin for the past 5 days. The woman working explained the equipment at the plant had broken down. I asked why I had never been called and she said they never took my phone number and admitted fault for this. She said they have pick ups on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the equipment broke down on Monday. I was asking why it couldn't have been sent out on Wednesday for same day service. She said the equipment at the plant was still down. She then said they could steam but it would take an hour. At this point a very aggressive man came out from the back and was combattive right off the bat telling me that I needed to be understanding and asking what did I want from them. I was truly stunned by his demeanor, especially since he was the person I dropped off the clothes with who neglected to take my number in the first place. It then devolved into him telling me to get out while the woman (who clearly started to feel bad) continued to offer to steam the clothes. I didn't understand how he expected me to leave while he himself was still digging for my clothes in the bin. I had him literally berating me while I just stood there waiting for my clothes. The entire situation was so tense that I started to tear up. Here I was an hour before my holiday party with no clean clothes and them given back to me wadded in a ball. If they had steaming capabilities onsite, why not at least steam everyone's clothes that couldn't be processed at the plant? I literally stood there - at a dry cleaners - starting to cry. This man then told me to "get my crying face out of there." This is a (presumably) the owner of the establishment saying this to a customer when I am the wronged party left with nothing to wear right before my event. The fact that the woman felt bad and continued to offer to steam my clothes is evidence that she was capable of handling this on her own and there was no need for him to come in so hot and escalate the situation. Not that this man has any empathy for a customer being left in this situation, but he has no idea what other people are going through. I have had a devastatingly difficult week which is partly why I teared up. Instead of seeing that as a sign to ease up, he leaned in further and actually mocked me for crying. I find it extremely troubling that he would speak to a customer but especially a female one in this aggressive and mocking manner. I have never in my life written a single review and would never want to say any of this about a small business. But it really shook me up and stayed with me during my holiday party (beyond just the fact that I had nothing to wear). I'm sure he will find ways to justify this interaction, blaming me for...I guess not saying thank you for leaving my clothes in a heap for 5 days? I'm disheartened to read other reviews of a similar nature so I'm sure this feedback will be met with similar defensiveness. It may seem trivial but dry cleaners play a role in important moments in people's lives - weddings, birthdays, holidays, etc. Clothes can be expensive or have sentimental value. It is unbelievable to me that he just kept repeating "you need to be understanding" I am understanding but you are lecturing me when you did not follow procedures and now I have nothing to wear to my event as a result. I see from other reviews there have been issues that also stemmed from the fact that they don't take phone numbers. There is no computer to be seen. They just take your name and hope for the best. In the end, once I got my clothes, I wished the woman happy holidays and left. I hope he treats his employees and other customers better than what I experienced today. I really do wish him and his business the best and hope that even 1% of this message breaks through. read more

I rarely write reviews but had a particularly bad experience with this business this morning. I've used silver fox before for wash and fold, and it was great. So I know first hand what their finished product looks like. This unfortunately not the case with my most recent purchase. I got my laundry, and my husband and I both observed that our laundry had a stench. Upon closer inspection, we realized our clothing was still fully dirty. I'll spare you the details, but I think we can all agree, you know when your clothing hasn't been through a wash. I went in with my still dirty laundry, explained the situation, expecting there had been some sort of mix up and the situation would be resolved. However the person helping me (I think the owner) refused to admit their mistake. He called me,"hunny" multiple times, and even seemed to be expecting me. Because he commented that he "forgot to tell me" to not put sweaty workout clothes in our laundry. This is what I always do, and they normally do fine with it. He wouldn't refund me or wash my clothes again. $70 bucks lost in the wash ;) I've been happy with this place before, but this is pretty bad. I hate to ding a small business but between calling me honey and not completing what I paid them for I'd recommend you go elsewhere. Or at least inspect your clothes when you pick them up before you pay. read more

Silver Fox does an adequate job dry cleaning inexpensive men's shirts--but God forbid you bring in a woman's blouse that requires extra care or special handling. I brought in a designer blouse that I had only worn twice. It required special care and that was explained when the blouse was dropped off. That instruction was clearly overlooked because when I got the blouse back, it was two full sizes smaller, and the beautiful unfinished edges (a design element of the piece) were frayed and showed signs of having been dumped in a large commercial washer. It was a shadow of the blouse I had brought in. Adding insult to injury, Silver Fox management did not once apologize to me but instead became incredibly defensive and even went so far as to tell me that there are certain "risks inherent to dry cleaning." Apparently we should all sign waivers when we bring in our favorite items. Add to this story, my boyfriend brought four suits in for altering, he stood and had each uniquely pinned for alteration, and when he got them back they were all different lengths. He had to go in a second time to have them fixed. Lucky him. My blouse is destroyed permanently. Buh. read more

Great Customer Service! Dry Cleaning prices were reasonable, but what makes me return is the alterations and repair of clothing. Kim, the new owner, gives me her honest opinion for all my alteration needs. She also takes the time to do my measurements correctly. I had 2 items that other businesses couldn't help me with and with a bit of time, Kim saved my 2 favorite items! They were a dress that had a rare type of trendy zipper and a faux fur replacement on a jacket. The fur replacement made my jacket look even better than when I first bought it!!! :D This is what makes me come back even when I don't live in San Francisco! read more

I only do wash and fold here but they're awesome and the cheapest I've found. I refuse to do laundry myself now. They always remember me and they take special instructions and can usually have it back next day. They've never ruined or lost any of my clothes and they are very friendly and accommodating. This place was ok, not great. My normal cleaners go on vacation once a year so I needed to find a backup for my dry cleaning and wash and fold. The guy seemed nice enough but extremely disorganized to the point where I have to wonder if I will be discovering that I didn't get all of my stuff back. I also had requested my french laundry items be hung on hangers, which he forgot and returned to me folded. To give him credit though, he did offer me a discount on those items. The cleaning over all was done well, but it would have been nice not to have to bag my own wash and fold when I came in to pick it up. Not only did they do a quick turnaround on my alterations (and a beautiful job), when I arrived to pick it up, I told them how grateful I was that they did the tailoring so quickly because I wanted to wear it for my birthday. I have been using Silver Fox Cleaners for 15 years and have never been disappointed. Dan, the owner has been in the business for a very long time. He has gotten all form of stains out of some of my favorite shirts that I thought were goners. His pricing is comparable to the area and has customers who have been with him for longer than me. He is always friendly and helpful. There is a seamstress who comes in a couple times a week and she has done well with minor repairs I have left with them. I tend to be a creature of habit when it comes to these types of services. Compared to dry cleaners I have been forced to use when on the road, Silver Fox is the best I have seen. read more

Their prices are better and the quality of work is better. They got out a stain from a work jacket that I had pretty much given up on. I used to bring all of my clothes here. Both for wash and fold and drycleaning. I thought they were very good, but then they stained one of my jackets during the cleaning process. I wasn't so upset with them, but just wanted them to fix it. They said they didn't know how. $100 later, Peninou had fixed their mess and I had my jacket back. Now, I don't take anything to the Silver Fox and all of my nice pieces go to Peninou where they really know what they are doing. read more

Wow! I had a leather coat cleaned there and my friends all asked when did I get the new coat. They get the job done and on time. If a stain is difficul,t they will ask you if you want them to try again. They will tell you if there is a risk to your item. Now that is service as good as it gets. read more
