Came here for a regular mani/pedi. The place is laid back and clean. However, I think some of their practices are not very hygienic. The tools for cleaning nails were already out in a bin, instead of being opened in front of me in a plastic covering. Then when cleaning under the nail, a wooden stick (for nails) was used, but she just pulled it out of the drawer, used it, wiped it and then put it back in the drawer. There are a few other things but all in all the pedicure and manicure came out nice. No shoulder massage after the service, which is normal practice in other salons. The pedicure here is expensive here though. It cost 22 dollars. I raised the issue with the manager but she said the whole area was priced this way, so I asked some neighboring salons; they charge 15-17 for their pedicures. Mera's Tip: get a manicure read more

I walked in around 11:15 on a Saturday- they were busy but said they could see me in 20 minutes. Vivian did a great job- she really took care to get my shape perfect, and the gel manicure looks great. She was very gentle with my cuticles and with the buffer, etc- unlike many nail techs I've had in the past. This was starting to become my go-to salon but on my last visit, I realized I had to find somewhere else to go. I was sorely disappointed when I asked for a pedicure (which isn't cheap here) and out of ALL the pedicure chairs (which were all empty), the tech puts me in the broken chair in which the massager was broken and malfunctioning and didn't even bother to assist me in turning it off or directing me to chair that actually worked. For $20, the pedicure is rushed and you can forget about any kind of pampering. You get bare bones service. The powder gel is usually not so bad here, but within a week of getting a powder gel last visit, one of the nails cracked. That solidified for me that I would not return. There are a zillion nail salons in Queens, so you'd be better off finding another salon (this one isn't any cheaper, IMO). read more

Walked in here yesterday early afternoon thanks to the positive reviews on yelp and I'm so glad I did. I've done powder manicures a few times but this salon is by far the best. I don't live in the area but I would definitely come back for Shirley. She suggested I try their new colors (which happen to be from the OPI powder perfection collection; not the typical SNS colors). Shirley took her time and made sure I was happy with every step of the process and even gave me a complimentary massage after finding a tough knot in my shoulder. Unfortunately there aren't many places that provide powder manicures, and those who do don't have much of a color selection. Jasmine solved the problem for both. Yes! I feel really lucky that I have found this salon. It's small and quiet and has a relaxed vibe to it. Samantha, the manager genuinely cares about her customers and does an amazing job. Call ahead because it is a small salon and walk-in appointments aren't always possible. Samantha does her absolute best to fit everyone in but is also realistic about wait times. I'd like to speak to Heather C.'s review. I don't think it's fair to give a one star review to a small salon that wasn't able to fit her in on demand. I prefer Jasmine's Nails over other salons who will lie to you and have you wait "20 minutes" for an hour! Samantha runs salon with both integrity and honesty. She was not able to take a walk-in when Jessica wanted service. She was honest and said she was booked the rest of the day. I'm so glad I stopped here after dropping off my laundry next door! The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. I had a regular place before coming here, but Samantha convinced me to try the gel powder....and let me just say that I am never going back to regular gel. It's really hard to find affordable gel powder in the area, but it's just $30 here. My gel powder manicures have lasted 3-4 weeks and the only reason I've had to go in is because my nails completely grew out during that time (not one chip!). If you ask me, that's totally worth it! I found this place thanks to Yelp. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted and treated really nicely. Everyone was very welcoming. Samantha worked on my nails. I had gone in with the intentions to do acrylic tips until she told me about the gel powder. I was a bit skeptical at first because it was different and this was my first time with her. But she knows what she's talking about! It's been a little over 2 weeks, and I absolutely love my nails. Because it's powder, there is no chipping, which is great for me because I work in retail and my nail polish is always chipping. My nails are growing out so it's almost time for another visit! Samantha was so kind and welcoming. It was easy to have a conversation with her and other customers who were in the salon at the time. She is also extremely realistic about wait times and how long the process (depending on what you want to do) is. I never ever write reviews, let alone negative reviews but the truth about the owner and the way she does business and treats her staff as well as her customers is disgusting! I have been going to jasmine nails for a while now because since a kid I have been going to that nail salon under the last owner who I miss and love. Since it became jasmine nails, I truly dislike the personality of the new owner for a few reasons. Here has been my experience. I go there to for a product they use called Gel Powder. First she told me they are the only salon that does it. OKay, I believe her and continue to go every 4-6 weeks when I am told to go every 2 weeks. I personally cannot afford to go every 2 weeks and spend $30 so I go when I can afford to. The owner puts me down and and guilt trips me for not going in sooner, every time I have went. The second issue I have is that the owner makes the customers, particularly me, feel very very uncomfortable the way she puts down and talks condescendingly to the girls that work there. The girls appear frightened and seem to walk on egg shells around her. To be honest if you have any issues with your staff- do it during after store hours or before store hours and have a meeting to reflect performance etc. The third issue that I have is her changing prices. She was charging me $30 each time. Recently she started charging me $32. My mother just went for the same service and was charged $35. WHen my mother said that you usually charge me $30 she denied that she ever charged that price. The fourth issue, under last management, the lady would service my mother for a pedicure. Because my mother has 1 leg, the old owner out of courtesy, (because my mother is a frequent customer then and now) my mother would get a discount so pay $7-$10 instead of $15 to get both feet done. She mentioned this to the owner and the owner laughed at her. The 5th issue with the owner is that I tell her how to shape and file my nails and she never listens or does what i ask. She is heavily opinionated to say, That will not look good on you. No one asked you!!! SO i am forced to be unhappy with the shape of my nails because she refuses to give customers what they want. The 6th issue was she must have hired a new front desk receptionist to answer phones who literally sits a foot away from where I get my nails done and the last time the young girl was dressed in booty shorts almost showing her butt cheeks sitting there face timing someone on her computer eating what maybe smelled like chinese food. The entire time the owner was talking and laughing with her in another language.. just very unprofessional when someone is paying to be in a spa like environment to relax and unwind! I am so relieved that I found a few places to get Gel Powder in AStoria. The other places are more relaxed, comforting and provide an overall pleasant experience from the moment you enter to the time you leave. The owner at Jasmine Nails is miserably unprofessional and just lost two customers. I hope if you are planning to go there after reading this, that you will see the owners unprofessionalism, sarcastic and condescending demeanor toward her staff and her customers and decide for yourself if you want to take your business elsewhere. read more

I've been a regular here for over 2 years. When it first opened under new management, it was great. It has steadily declined in the last year. Last time I was in, I got a half-assed pedicure (it was ruined by the time i got home) and she dripped wax in my hairline when I got my eyebrows waxed. They also raised their prices and neglected to mention it (considering i've been going there regularly for over 2 years, you'd think they'd mention it beforehand). We started with a pedicure, i wish i could remember her name but she is very gentle and thorough, even though there are couple of people waiting i did not feel rushed at all, i waited for few minutes to have my sns powder gel, this is my first time doing a powder gel, i requested for a little design as well. I like how the owner? calls you and the other clients by their name, it makes you feel good that she knows you by name and does not just call you hey or something else. I give 4 1/2 starts just because its probably partially my fault when she asked me if she should cut my cuticles, i told her its up to her coz i seriously don't know lol, it left my sides of my nails looking dirty :-( i like how the powder gel looks but it looks too thick and i think i like the regular gel just because they give more shine, beside it left a weird color on 2 of my nails when i asked her she said sometimes the powder clumped together and there is no way to fix it, its not her fault. aside from that two of nails were not colored on the side.
