We picked Le Café because it was full of people and busy which always a good indicator of at least passable food. We sat outside, but did go inside to wash hands after numerous surface touches on water taxi's public transit during our morning explorations. The bathroom area had sinks outside of the bank's themselves and were clean and well stocked. The service was a little slow, but once we ordered, the food showed up quickly. My clubhouse with ham, egg, tomato, rocket and cheese was very good and plentiful. The lovely K had the ballerina salad which looked and tasted great. My Sister and her husband travelling with us this trip, both had burgers and fries (?). My Sister asked for it to be well done, and when it arrived it was quite rare, but she soldiered through it as it was past 2 PM and our first food of the day. When the plates were picked up and the bill dropped our waiter said he noticed how rare it was when taking the plate away and had removed the burger from our bill. He also asked that we come back again and ask for him so he could provide us with a proper meal. I've not seen that in Italy before, it was very observant of him, and the right thing to do. Kudos to him, I wish I had got his name.

The waitstaff was one friendly guy taking orders and payment, and one guy in the back cooking. Pretty simple spot, not much seating, but fairly priced with decent food. The lunch special gets you a drink (standard apertif or non-alcoholic drink, specialty apertifs are extra), pasta, and a coffee. We started with a couple campari spritzes and a pear juice (the latter of which was quite good). For entrees we got the seafood pasta (decent amount of seafood given the price), and the squid ink pasta. Finished with three cappiucinos (sorry to the unsaid Italian cappiucino curfew). Don't expect a lavish set-up, but do expect a decent meal. If you're on a budget and only want to try squid ink pasta in once place, this is your spot. If you plan to sample other squid ink pastas, I'd say skip this place.

We did not look this up on Yelp before eating here. We simply ate here because we were headed back to the hotel and it was close. The sandwiches are in an enclosed glass case facing the street. They are pre-made but are still fresh. Tell them which one you want. Have your Euros ready. Since there is a plethora of shops, they aren't very expensive. They will take your sandwich and put it in a toaster to make the bread crisp and the sandwich hot. They are very large. We split one. It was filling but I wasn't over stuffed. It was good. Keep in mind I'm comparing to other Italian sandwiches. If you're from the US and comparing it to Subway, quit. These are much better. Tip: You can get ticketed for sitting on the curb on the narrow streets to eat. They do post warning signs. If you want to sit, do it in a designated area. We were close to the hotel so we ate there. Bottom line-Decent sandwiches. Good when you're on the run. Large enough to split. Not overly expensive. Bon appétit.
