My stay at Pine Lodge Resort, was peaceful and relaxing. Booking a room online was quick and so…read moreeasy! Location became an issue for me! The lady on the phone talked to me while I was meandering around the area in my truck on a dark road. Thank goodness!! She was so accommodating! For example: the number of nights I wanted to stay. Minimum is two nights. I was allowed to stay one. After I was assigned to one cabin, she allowed me to stay in a different cabin. Pulling up to park at my assigned cabin my headlights showed 3 deer!! Another times, I saw them from the balcony, several more deer. In fact, they seemed within an arm's reach. The balcony was clean with a covered table, hot tub and a means to charcoal meats. The grill utensils hung along the guard rails. Once inside, it appeared very clean. Every possible amenity was available (except robes or q-tips). Fireplace, cut wood, lighter, microwave, fold out couch, mini fridge, window unit, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, table and 2 chairs, tv, wifi, ceiling fan, towels (request extra if using the hot tub), shampoo, conditioner and body soap. Of course, a large cozy bed! The hot tub is small. My best guess would be that they can accommodate 4 small bodies max. Great jets and very hot water! The showers are so clean and sparkly! The shampoo, conditioner and body soap hang on the wall. All have a very mild scent. It was a perfect get away for me.

This is a review of the spectacular Christmas light display, happening now until New Year's. I…read moreread about this event in the Tulsa World and since we were running over to Grand that same day and Pine Lodge is literally a mile away from our destination, we decided to check it out. We went right at dusk, but I think if it had been truly dark, we could have seen the resort from miles away. ALL. THE. LIGHTS. (And, other decorations.) We were surprised by the amount of holiday cheer that was put up. Lots of inflatables (some quite unique). If you're in the area, I would certainly check it out. There's a donation box at the end if you're impressed.

I regret not driving a little longer to Tulsa and booking something better. The room smells so bad…read more(musty/old water) I gagged once we entered. With driving late & booking 3rd party I had to stay (non refundable). We tried to air out the room and the window was hard to open (it didn't help much anyways). The bathroom smelt even worse, like pee, and like it hasn't been cleaned in a very long time. The wall near the bathroom door looks like there's dirt or poop on it. I really didn't want to take a shower but needed one. The shower looks like it has a pee stain on it. I kept shoes on. The shower didn't drain too well so expect to stand in some water. I was grossed out hoping nothing came up from the drain. The room didn't look too clean either. I told my kids to keep their shoes on while standing on the carpet bc I'm assuming it's the carpet that smells horrible. Book somewhere else!!

If you are from the surrounding areas of Vinita, Afton, Chelsea, Miami, Big Cabin, and White Oak…read morerun away from here. Manager charges locals 50 extra deposit and almost always has a reason to not give it back. Truckers must pay to park even when getting a hotel room. There is a sign but it's so small and printed on paper from a computer that most don't see it. Non smoking guests will be charged 250 dollars for smoking in a non smoking room even if they didn't ever smoke. If guests ask to speak to the people above the manager you won't be able to. She won't allow it. Some rooms are not getting clean bedding everyday after guests check out. The pool and hot tub are broken and would appear to be a permanent break. Get used to marijuana smell from one of the employees. He thinks he can use it whenever and wherever he wants.

One market said 1807and another said 1837. Checking online, 1815 looks like the most likely date. This was originally a stagecoach stop which make sense. It's at the end of navigable water and as far up a river traffic could go. Above was the interior of what was the Virginia. It was said that one of the original owners was the Grandson of one of the Declaration of Independence signers. It's an Inn with a full service restaurant that is open to the public. You can dine with a great view of the Kanawha Falls. We did not have reservations so had to wait a bit to be seated. While we waited, we talked to another local couple. He was from the Hawk's Nest Area (Ansted WV) and she was from the Babcock area. They dated in HS and later went separate ways but eventually met and married. From them we found out that Bridge Day had been cancelled because of Covid so our big detour was unnecessary. Nice menu. I ended up with a Mushroom Swiss Burger and Peanut Butter Pie. My companion had French Onion Soup and an amazing Grilled Porkchop. Took forever but we were part of the problem. They only serve one course at a time and the Soup Course gets served first and the Main Course does not get served till the Soup Course is over. Same with the Desert Course. Does not get served till the Main Course is over. Still there were lapses in service and in more than one case, had to flag down the server to get something else like a beverage refill. Still very nice and would definitely do it again and next time, may even stay at the end to cut down on driving so much in one day.

I had the ribeye which you could cut some of with a fork and I did not need the a1 that she brought to us. The mashed potatoes were nothing special but was good. The green beans isn't my cup of tea, but my wife loved them. She said her Reuben was excellent. I had PB Pie and she had the coconut cream pie that we both shared and they were amazing. I can't pick which one was better. The waitress filled our drinks twice and was always polite and thorough even with waiting on multiple tables. We will return.

It is just west of the Vinita entrance https://www.yelp.com/biz/ok-turnpike-toll-plaza-vinita?hrid=ZmlJxbkw2ayuq_yBPFLQkg so if you're headed east from there, you'll miss out. Easy to access from either side and with plenty of parking. Inside, lots of toilets, good shopping and a nice spot to literally have an oasis in the middle of otherwise very boring Oklahoma plains. Gas station outside with plenty of space for larger vehicles, McDonald's and a nice gift shop with Oklahoma and Route 66 trinkets. Overnight parking is not permitted and there is no shade out here at all. [Review 19776 overall - 135 in Oklahoma - 748 of 2023.]

Pro tip: Don't drink a sip of anything between the MO state line and this stretch of I-44. I've driven to Tulsa twice from KC (and back), and found myself stopping here all four times. In addition to tons of gas pumps, the bathrooms are reasonably clean, there's a McDonald's (meh) and some traditional gas station snacks, and most importantly, it's super easy to veer off and back onto the road. I also kind of like the big glass archway overlook; while not scenic by any stretch, it's kind of fun to see the cars whizzing by beneath you. If you're like me and prefer to pull off far away from any city traffic, this is a spot you'll naturally gravitate to, and it's a small benefit to paying the $5 toll along this route.
