Let me first start by saying Claudia always gives a wonderful massage, which is how my deep tissue massage began. Unfortunately the reception desk was just outside my massage room and fifteen minutes in, having truly enjoyed that time, the receptionist began this loud conversation with a gentleman that went on for a good 20 minutes. Claudia raised the music and the white noise two different times, trying to soften the effects of this loud conversation. I was so upset since this conversation totally interfered with the calm, quiet, peaceful atmosphere you are supposed to enjoy while experiencing a massage. How could the receptionist not realize her extended loud conversation wouldn't interfere with what this facility supposedly offers: a 60 minute respite - RELAXATION! Following my massage I relayed my annoyance and disappointment to the receptionist, who apologized repeatedly, but offered nothing else. Should you consider visiting this venue, definitely ask for Claudia, and most definitely a room quite a distance away from the reception desk. - read more

Holy moly, I had the most amazing prenatal massage here! My therapist used just the perfect amount of pressure and got to all my sore spots, and there are many given that I'm in my ninth month of pregnancy. I left feeling amazing! Thank you! I have been coming to Relax on cloud 9 for 17 years and have been rejuvenated by Claudia so many times thinking I would never get back to myself again, but she pushed me through and got my arms working again and now she's working on my legs! I love this place, it is my sanctuary. Doreen is one of the best owners you would ever meet and cares a bout everyone (even the mean ones). The house is to die for, it's over 200 years old I believe and each time I visit it's got a way of saying hello and welcome. I wish I could be there everyday. I came here yesterday for what I hope to be the first of many prenatal massages. As the two little boys in my belly grow, so does my belly...at an insanely rapid rate!! I am feeling the associated aches and pains of a protruding middle and carrying around 15lbs of extra weight. I need relief and relaxation. I pass this place every time I visit my parents...so...here goes nuthin. Well, nuthing but $80. Speaking of nothing, I can find nothing wrong with Cloud Nine. It was a nice experience from beginning to end. It is easy to find, there is off street parking, the atmosphere is calm and cozy, the staff is warm and kind, and the massage room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. My massage therapist did a fine job. And yet...I was not blown away. I did not experience bliss. I would have liked...uh...less oil and more pressure. It felt more like a relaxing rub down than the remove my aches kind of massage I was wanting. I did tell him he could increase the pressure during massage, but still got pretty much the same. I have a feeling if you book one of their many other massage types, you will get just that. Perhaps the nature of a prenatal massage lingers on the assumption that preggo mom is delicate and mustn't be rubbed too vigorously. CRAP is what i say to that. read more

My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time at this spa recently. We each had a 45-min massage and enjoyed the sauna beforehand. The last time we got to do this together was 8 years ago, which was before I moved to CA and we all got hitched and had kids. I was surprised that there weren't any reviews on Yelp for this place (with the exception of 1 but it has this place listed under "yoga"). But I'm glad to put it on the Yelp map. The staff were kind - Doreen is awesome - and accommodating, and the facilities are absolutely charming (the spa is located in a pre-1900s house). The prices are very reasonable given the quality of the massage, the atmosphere, the staff's attention to detail, lovely waiting area and facilities. We look forward to going again. I know my friends are planning to bring their hubbies for a romantic escape. It was very man-friendly. They had rooms with 2 massage beds, their sauna and shower room accommodated at least 2 people and the decor wasn't frilly and pink. The sauna before the massage is a must - it's so inexpensive too - and we are definitely going to hang out in the sauna after the massage next time. And we will probably try some of the other services, like a facial. They carry Dermalogica, and I love those products. Super place. Lovely spa experience. read more

We usually only go for the massages which are really good. Like one reviewer before me mentioned the massages are not a full 60 minutes. The ambiance and the classical musical playing in the background is very relaxing. I've had a spray tan, facials, massages and a mineral bath at RC9 and all except for the spray tan were really very good. I'll stick to beach bum for the tan. I'm booked for a sauna and massage combo next, can't wait! read more

I really enjoyed my massage at Relax on Cloud 9. First, they fit me in last minute, even though I had never been there before. Then the massage therapist really listened to me as I explained what I wanted done, and worked extensively to relax me, particularly focusing on TMJ trouble spots. She even went about 10 minutes over time, and took the time to ask me if the pressure was good enough and adjusting accordingly. Not only was the massage wonderful, but the place itself is a delight. I've been going to Cloud 9 for years, and it is by far the most relaxing and peaceful experience I've had in terms of massages. Dawn is an amazing massage therapist, and I'm pretty sure she has magic fingers because she finds problem spots in muscles and aches that I didn't even know existed! In response to the one negative review, every employee working at Cloud 9 has always been professional, welcoming and accommodating. Please consider the majority of the reviews if considering cloud 9. While the prices are definitely up there, if you get a massage therapist like Dawn, it's totally worth it. read more

The massage was good, however my fiancé pointed out that we paid for a couples 60 minute massage that lasted about 40 minutes. I love this place. It is my favorite place to get a massage even though I don't even live in Staten Island anymore and beats any of the places I have been to in other states. The prices are very reasonable and I've never had an issue getting a timely appointment. Yesterday I saw Dawn after straining a muscle in my shoulder (which is a chronic problem) and sitting on a cross-country flight and she did an amazing job. She asked a lot of questions to make sure I was comfortable and alternated massage and heat to help relax the shoulder muscle, which felt so good. She instructed me to ice it when I got home and I feel so much better today! One of the best massages I have ever had. read more

My husband and I had a couples massage here for our Anniversary a couple of weeks ago. It was a very relaxing experience. My masseuse was Claudia and my husband's was Maria. I have received several massages from Claudia but this was my husband's first time with Maria. Claudia was very attentive and accommodating as always. She is very receptive to the client and has a relaxing soft touch. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the firm touch of Maria and she relieved some muscle aches he had in his lower back. The massages were so relaxing that at some point we both nearly fell asleep! The overall experience was wonderful. Both masseuses made sure we were comfortable the entire time. well let me just say my experience was AWFUL! ... Definitely way better places on the island. Took me a half hour later than my appointment, so i sat there for a half hour as DAWN ate her lunch when she had a client booked and knew i was waiting. Then finally got in the room payed for the 45 minutes and got a half hour. I timed the massage therapist little did she know. When she told me I was done i looked at my watch and realized that was only a half hour. When asked to speak to a manager DAWN left the room so fast and made one of her co workers deal with the situation ( feeling GUILTY much dawn ?)... DISGUSTING! UNPROFESSIONAL to say the least. Never again will i waste my time or money. Oh and was in major pain after wards from probably what was the worst massage of my life ! read more

I always loved Relax on Cloud Nine and enjoyed my experiences there. It has been a while since I have visited but after receiving a gift certificate for my birthday I set up an appointment. Let me first say that my massage was excellent, the massage therapist was very professional and knowledgable. Where I had a problem was the stray cat roaming around the spa. I can not believe that a stray would be let in the spa not knowing if he had fleas or worse. Between not feeling comfortable with the cat all over the place and the litter box at the desk, I did not find this to be a very Zen experience. There are too many other spas around to go back to an unsanitary place. read more
