My HVAC had recently died, & I was taking a break looking a SMUD approved contractor reviews; So, I took the flyer, & made an appointment for an estimate. ~ At Appointment time the Estimator come's around his car; AND It's one of the two from "Quality First Home Improvement" who sold me on a House Exterior Painting. ~{ So, I know where this is going.)* Quality First... gave the house a Good Paint-Job; However, I was Quoted a "Special Deal" Price WHICH INCREASED Several times by job end. The FINAL PRICE was a full THIRD HIGHER than what I was Originally Quoted! All without any explanation on the Increased Cost. ~ My estimator 'friend' mentioned that he had left Quality for Reliable due primarily because of business practices. Shortly after the installation, Jerry came back to my house for a few adjustments on the door to make sure I was 100% happy with everything. I also want to compliment the highly detailed work Brant did installing led lighting in my living room and kitchen. He knew exactly where to place recessed lighting to illuminate my very dark living room. The last project I did with Reliable was a new shower tub and floor for my bathroom. We were very happy with the work done by Reliable Home Improvement. They installed lighting, wiring, and upgraded outlets for 11 can lights, an entryway fixture, and a 6-light bath fixture. Also, Brant saw and fixed a problem with a previously installed can light and replaced an outlet in another room. Destiny helped with questions about my chosen entry and bath fixtures. Next thing I know this young man named Dallas came out and met with my husband and myself. Dallas was amazing, very professional and personable. Dallas worked with us and we ended up getting our dry-rot fixed and our exterior house painted. The Project manager Pat was great! This job was actually done about a year ago, but I wanted to post my experience along with how happy I was with the quality in how nice my house paint job came out. This was the second time I hired reliable home improvement to do a job completion. I live in a community where we all had to have our house painted because it had been 16 years when I bought new and my house paint was starting to fade badly and endanger of the framing of the house and Wood areas going bad because the paint was also starting to chip away. There were guidelines and certain colors and structure we had to follow for the my HOA. Reliable is not so reliable. They were scheduled for August 25, 7:30. Two guys showed up but the equipment to take out the driveway didn't show up until 9:15. The next day the driveway was poured, and they did a good job. But they left ditches on on the sides and broke a sprinkler. I called Patrick, left him a message telling him about the sprinkler and asking him where the dirt was to fill in the sides. A week later, I called him again. He answered and said that he got my message. I told him I had had the sprinkler fixed and he said he would reimburse me for the charge and that the dirt would be on the way. I called the company number, and explained all this, and was told it would be sent up to the owner. It is now October, and I have still heard nothing, I don't have my dirt, and I have not been reimbursed. read more

RELIABLE Home Improvement? That's a joke in itself. Where do I begin with this review? I promise I won't bore you with a long story, so for those just wanting a quick review, here it is: these guys are mediocre. Once they get their money, they ghost you and don't care about you. They give you a 5 year warranty, but will draw it out and ignore your concerns and their mistakes. I got my house worked on by them last year, which by the way, the team themselves did not communicate with each other on what needed to get done, so the cost fluctuated three times. They do the job, but as time went by, I noticed mishaps with the house. First, my 1st floor bedroom's ceiling started to leak. I called them and thought it was a window leak, but it was because they jammed my dryer vent lid open during the entire fall/winter season and water and gunk had been blown up there. I told them to please fix their mistake and they said they would, but kept putting me off. Patrick, the head project manager then said he would only replace the lid, but not fix the ceiling. I ask him to fix their mistake and he just ghosted me. Secondly, my side fence was blown over during the winter because they didn't nail it into the house or any post! The side fence blew down and damaged the molding. They took a week to get there and put it up, but didn't change or smooth out the molding. The dents are still there. This company is unreliable and if I could give them zero stars, I would. They may have done some good work, but a project worth $50k should have been taken more seriously. We had a large driveway and walkway replaced, as the existing was breaking up. Reliable's crew removed the existing, cut out many large redwood tree roots, installed several drainage inlets and piping to the street gutter. I was impressed about how hard they worked nonstop. Rebar 2'x2', compacted base and full 3.5 inch concrete. The concrete work was excellent. We provided a sketch as to how we would like the expansion joints to be done; somewhat complicated. In the early winter of 2023 the Reliable Home Improvement came to our house to resolve the issue with the patio roof, and whole fixing the roof they have destroyed the patio - it has slides of the main structure/house that it was attached to creating hazardous conditions for my little kids and the rest of the family if we were to use it. This business claims to have the warranty-resolve any issues within 5 years from the time the job done, but they do not follow their own guarantee guideline. Multiple times we tried to contact them but the owner has never responded or took ownership of the bad job done. We paid them $7k. And after the issues they created with patio we had to pay another $7k to fix it. Their excuse was that this was unauthorized structure. How come they have never brought it up to our attention until after they damaged it more than fixed, and collected their payment ‍‍‍We bought this house and did not know that. It was expensive but they did a nice job on remodeling my bathroom. The technician was very good and professional. The reason I did not give them a 5 was because I have a crackling noise in the wall. I called 3 different people in their company, but nobody returned my call. I had to repair the problem myself. They were very helpful in picking materials for the remodel. They just failed in follow up support. I called them also to ask if a final inspection by the county was necessary, but they never returned my call. Had an 8-foot sliding glass Door replaced. Jerry verified that it could be replaced, took measurements, asked if I had any concerns. He then ordered the door and called me several times to let me know how things were coming along. SO nice not to have to call, leave a message, and hope for a call back. Then Colton arrived yesterday morning with the replacement window. He proceeded to remove the old slider door which seemed to be a challenge, but he just kept going after it and shortly thereafter had it out. Then installed the new slider. which took him a considerable amount of time as he was adjusting it until it squared up and opened and closed SO smoothly. He then trimmed it out and it looks like it has always been there. It looks better than what I was expecting. If you want it done right, this is the team to have. read more

We had previously hired Reliable to replace our storm door and upgrade our kitchen lighting from a fluorescent light box to recessed lighting. This time around we replaced our front patio cover with a pergola, had gutter guards installed, and had the attic insulation increased. Because of issues with the City Planning Department, the pergola took seven months to get permitted. Pat worked with us to come up with a design that the City finally approved; while not exactly what we originally envisioned, it turned out quite nice. Frank and the installation team put the pergola up to one morning. We did get the gutter guard installed pretty quickly, as was the addition of insulation in the attic. In both cases the crews were done in one morning. We've been in our house 40 years now and we noted that Reliable was the first contractor among the many we've dealt with who showed up when they said they would and got the work done in the time frame specified. Kudos to them for that alone! Michael has been our sales contact and he's been great, working with us to make sure each project falls within our comfort level. We were looking for a company who could do a cut in dog door into a sliding glass door rather than cutting into a wall. The new slider door with a cut in XL dog door is great; it's much more substantial than the old builder-grade slider door and I'm sure the slider will keep a lot of the hot/cold air outside where it belongs. Jerry was the project coordinator (great) and Colton was the installer, who by the way, did an awesome job, was very focused and is a true craftsman ... he even cleaned the slider door glass and hung back my drapery rod when the install was completed!
