We hired nick Lambdin masonry to extend the height of all our existing columns using rocks at our property. We have an existing rock fence however the columns were short and we wanted to raise the height. Nick was very nice and friendly at first when we met in person, and he said that job was easy and it is something he can take care of. We met twice before we agreed to proceed. Once the job started we started seeing some issues. First of all Nick does not do any of the work. Unfortunately this translates to speaking to multiple people if we have concerns. On occasion it was difficult to get in contact with him to address any changes. The workers could not proceed at certain times w/o discussing with him. Our 2nd issue is really that the work doesn't match the initial work that was there. The new work has rocks that are stacked where the old work had rocks that were carefully chosen to mesh with each other leaving a flat vertical surface. I did bring this up and the response was that we didn't have "good" rocks to use. This baffled me as we paid for new rock (per the contract), however new rocks were never provided. This brings me to my 3rd issue. We paid for additional rock in the event we did not have enough on the property. Turns out we had plenty and therefore nick never brought new rocks over. I never received a refund on this since I paid for a product that was never used. I brought this up and nicks response was "rocks are cheap". 4th issue is that the final finished work is of poor quality. The tops are made of brick and some are raised in the middle from too much mortar while others are leaning. A handful of the tops are not level, bad enough to see with naked eye. See attached picture. Once again I brought up all these issues at the end with Nick, and Nick's response was "I think it looks good". When Nick came to collect payment, cleanup was still left to be completed. His team did come the following day to clean up any debris on the ground, however the tops of the columns have mortar all over the rocks that was never cleaned. See attached pictures. Unfortunately 1 week after, some of the tops are in worse condition, I assume from poor mortar/water mixture, from the work being rushed. Nick mentioned he had to rush the job because it was taking too long.... This brings me to my final concern, which is poor customer service: I paid Nick March 17th. One week later we noticed the tops sliding and one column beginning to lean. I contacted Nick multiple times via text and phone with out a response. I have done my part to work with Nick to resolve these issues. I have given Nick the courtesy to get back to me over close to 2 months without avail. I was hoping to take care of my concerns w/o 3rd party involvement. Once again I think Nick is a nice person and truly wanted to resolve the issues with him. I don't expect Nick to fix all the issues however I did expect to fix things like leveling the top. However avoiding phone calls and messages really speaks volumes of inability to stand behind his work. Unfortunately I don't have time or interest to play these games, and will now be taking legal action against Nick Lambdin masonry. Please avoid this contractor. There are many other masonry contractors out there that stand by their work. read more

Nick eventually got back to me as it's the busy time of the year and said he could fit my small job in his schedule. He spent a good amount of time texting with me to help me understand what I needed and what he could provide. Just waiting a bit more time to save up some money and get my job done. I called Nick to get an estimate on some brick work I needed done, and he was able to come out that same day. I told him all of my concerns and he gave me his opinion on what should be done. He called me later that evening and gave me a fair price on the repairs we had discussed earlier. He said he could come out later that week if that would work for me. Nick is a talented mason who, unfortunately, is a complete flake. Don't use him if you care about honest communication and integrity. He does good work, but will not stand behind it. He laid slate on my front porch, and the result was beautiful, but a year later, there was a minor issue that needed repair. One of the pieces of slate had come loose, and I contacted him rather than trying to fix it myself. He answered my text by asking for a photo, which I sent to him immediately, and then I never heard from him again. I tried several more times, asking him take a look at the minor repair needed, but to no avail. Keep doing your research and find someone else who is talented and also has reviews that highlight honest, straight-forward professionalism. Nick Lambdin is not that person. read more

This review is for a job back in the spring of 2017. This was for a full-brick 3 foot wall around the front of the house, below the stucco. Nick quoted the job for a reasonable amount and was helpful in recommending "high quality" material and selecting the finish. When it came time to do the job, Nick's team got to work. He claimed that he is a perfectionist and would give great detail to the job. Half-way through, he realized he had not told me to get enough brick. Instead of obtaining more, he used some of the more damaged pieces. So much for being a perfectionist. In the most visible area of the work, is where many of the damage bricks were used, and are obvious to the naked eye without looking for them. To be clear, this is not a tumbled brick that is supposed to look worn/used. As to the "high quality" bricks he recommended, these appear to be extremely fragile. The real problem was when Nick's crew started working on the sill at the top of the partial-wall. About this time or before, Nick claimed that he under-bid the job and would not be able to finish because he didn't charge enough. He told me I had to pay more, even though the job did not change. I argued with him against this kind of strong-arm tactic and he acquiesced to complete the agreed upon job. However, this lead to poor quality work on the sill row and sloppy quick work by the crew at the end of the day. Two corners have since fallen off the top sill row. I'm pretty sure this is because the mortar used at that time was already drying and didn't bond properly to the bricks. These corners of the sill row where the last thing done. Even though the crew acid-washed the majority of the wall, they didn't wash the corners. There is STILL visible mortar on the brick around those corners, including the corners which are no longer there. To add further insult, the crew left broken brick and dumped mortar all over my front yard. When asking Nick to fix this issue, he blamed the failing sill work on other workers who were installing stucco on the walls above the brick work. I observed the whole time, especially after getting burned by Nick and I can absolutely guarantee they did not drop objects on the brick to break off the corners. He claimed our deal was "as is" and that he would not stand by his work. TLDR: He presents professionally, but becomes emotional and petty when things don't go his way. He did not deliver quality work as punishment because he did NOT quote his own work correctly. I would NEVER recommend Nick. He is not honest or trustworthy. read more

Nick is definitely worthy of a 5 star rating. I'd give him 10 stars if that was possible. First, Nick knows his business well. He pays close attention to details. His rock work is exceptional. Wow! I am so happy with the results of Nick's work. I had a totally janky brick patio with a big hole in one corner and completely uneven (not to code) and too narrow steps leading up to a back door. Nick and his team not only took care of the hole and the steps, they were able to brick in an old fuse box opening, completely matching the old brick. He evidently can't handle large jobs, which is FINE, he should just TELL people it is out of his capability. He seemed overwhelmed by our project. He said he needed to come back. Okay. He gave us a day and time, and then he never returned for the follow up visit that HE scheduled. My husband and I took the morning off of work just to meet him again for the appointment that HE scheduled. We called him the day before, confirming the appointment. Morning of appointment comes, and he doesn't show. I called him to see if something happened, or if maybe he was just running late. He never bothered to return my call after his no-show. This man is rude, thoughtless, and very unprofessional. If you can't do the job, just SAY SO. Don't waste our time by scheduling another appointment, make us take time off to work to wait for you, and then blow people off! A simple phone call canceling would have been appreciated. This review is a bit late, but couldn't be happier with Nick & crew's work on replacing our front walkway! We've had it awhile now and it is SOLID! Everyone compliments us on it, and it adds first class curb appeal to our home. The original walkway was shoddily done and flaking off. The stones were very thin and improperly set into concrete. Nick completely tore it all out all the way to our slab foundation and laid a new concrete base. He met us at a local masonry business to select our stones and mortar colors. After the concrete set, he properly set our new thick stones in mortar on top of the concrete. He is a professional mason, and realized that thinner stones were needed near the front door to fit on top of the slab (yet under the front door frame) to create a smooth transition and slope to the driveway and down the walkway. Afterwards they acid washed the walkway to remove residue and show off the sparkle in the quartz. It still looks amazing and like new! Couldn't be happier and highly recommend Nick Lambdin to create a beautiful walkway like ours if you want that WOW factor! read more

Nick is very professional and courteous. He went way above and beyond. I had suffered an injury and was not able to drive. Nick took me to both the gas fireplace store and the stone store to help me choose the gas insert and the stone for the fireplace and hearth. His expertise and love for his work was very evident. My project was masonry to replace slate tiles on a outdoor fountain. My search on the Internet for a Mason in Carmichael came up with Nick Lambdin Masonry in Carmichael. On his website I noted he was on Angie's List. His reviews were generally positive. I e-mailed him describing the project and sent a picture of the fountain, measurements , etc. Three days went by without a response. What? that should have been an indication of the upcoming poor service. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I e-mailed him a second time, same content with a note advising him if he did not respond by the following day he had lost a potential customer.He called that evening. We went over the project and then conversed to about his expertise: a 3 consecutive year top award from Angie's List, many other awards, career since the age of 18 ( 19 yrs experience)( apprenticing with a master Mason.), owns his own business has only one apprentice who he is teaching, provides excellent customer service etc,etc. Wow! This guy must be really great. So this was Thursday night. We made an appointment for him to come to my house on Saturday at 1:00 pm.; agreed if the price was right he would come back on Wednesday and do the job. So far, so good. Friday night I e-mailed him to confirm the time, requesting a response. Saturday early morning no response. I called him, got the answering machine and left a message to call me ASAP. I repeated that call 2 more times. 1:00pm came and went. I have never heard from him again. I believe that from whatever is bad something good is learned. So this is what I have learned from Nick: Do Not Depend on Angie's List, especially their reward system, it means nothing, Do Not believe anything Nick Lambdin states on his website or what he tells you, Lastly I affirmed actions speak louder than words, and you snooze you loose! I am grateful for this experience and thank Nick for being a no show. He proved to me he was not the right person to do my job and hopefully anyone else that reads this review will agree and find someone whose priority is customer service! I can't say enough about Nick and his awesome work. I had a horrendous 70's fireplace that I have lived with for 28 years. I called Nick and let him know specifically what I was looking for. We went over options on websites he referred me to and insisted I go with him to choose the stone, as he said sometimes it looks different in person vs on line. Nick made sure the electrician knew exactly what I wanted, and all of the tv cords were put behind the fireplace wall to make a nice, net presentation.
