No one asked me for this review but since I used the reviews from their happy customers to make my decision, I had to give the business the stars they deserve! I got a few quotes for concrete work and Christian was the last one we had come out for an estimate. He came out on a Saturday morning and I felt confident moving forward after our first meeting. Christian was a great communicator, he didn't try to sell me anything and just offered solutions for the concerns we had. We weren't sure if I'd need a channel drain and he actually explained the maintenance behind it. He said we'd figure it out once they got into the work and we ended up getting one installed. Christian also replaced some withering poles that were on their last legs. None of the other bids mentioned it. He was willing to do the job right not just halfway. It was a five day job and his team put in some serious work. Patio looks great with the new poles he made that perfectly match the originals. They even hauled away some other junk we had in the yard for us which we were grateful for since the last guy who removed our trash made us feel uncomfortable. Garcia's Concrete did a wonderful job in replacing our patio. Our old, cracked patio (which lacked rebar) was demolished and a new stronger, wider patio was done. Unlike the old patio which was only painted, the new one is dyed all throughout. Christian was very nice and easy to talk to. The conditions were difficult with lots of shallow tree roots and having to match up to an existing sloped sidewalk and driveway. They dealt with all this and kept us informed the whole time. Christian and his crew were very skilled at leveling and setting the grade, they worked quickly and did an outstanding job pouring the slabs and finishing it with an Old Granite stamp. It goes a long way when the owner of the company, Christian, is there every single day of the job supervising and working alongside his crew to ensure the job gets done well (and we're very happy with the results)! Christian and his crew are happy and polite, and get to work done quickly and efficiently. Another great thing about Christian is that he's honest and transparent about the work they are doing. We received quotes from three different well reviewed companies, and Garcia's Concrete was by far the most competitive in pricing. However we'd like to note that for the other two companies, they likely pay sales guys and contract out to other companies and crew -- Christian is the one who personally does the project analysis and pricing, and it's his crew. Our project was scheduled in December, and we had heavy rains in the area during our scheduled week that caused some delays, but Christian and the crew handled the scheduling delays well and timed their work accordingly. He even came on his own one of the days to get some of the prep work done before more rains came. Amazing work ethic from everyone - our concrete looks great. Another thing that we valued was that Christian explained what was happening to us every step of the way (or whenever we had questions). They even made accommodations for our drainage needs, and took care not to hurt our tree, whose roots were somewhat in the way. Christian has a great eye for design also. We were a bit flexible in the design and he had suggestions for us - we just sent him pictures of general designs we liked, and told him where we wanted the concrete to be laid, and he did the rest. We love the final outcome, and our yard is finally functional. We've had several projects on our home for different things, and even though the other companies were also rated well, Christian and the entire Garcia's Concrete crew rose above all of them in their attention to detail, communication (through Christian) and end to end excellence. It's really rare to find a contractor that actually cares about your renovation. I'm so glad that I hire Christian and his company. This is the type of small business I'm glad I supported. Best part about working with Christian is that he's the only point of contact from estimate, schedule, daily walk through and any questions throughout the project. I completely changed out the old 1980s expose aggregate concrete in the backyard from patio, pool deck and converted lawn to concrete. Out of all the concrete and landscape companies I had come over Christian had the most knowledge. Other companies sent an estimator out that couldn't ask questions I had from type of concrete to drainage. Christian looked at my plans, asked tons of questions then explained in detail how he would execute. I had follow up questions several days later and he even came out here a second time. Everyday he was here we would do a walkthrough ok what was done. Converting part of grass to concrete was tough. 3D and 2d drawing are different than seeing it in real life. We made several revision throughout the prep work and Christian was always giving us advice which ended up having less concrete that the original estimate. Concrete came out great. Even had our artificial turf contractor comment on his work that he did a really great job with the drainage and transition areas between turf and concrete. We had Garcia's concrete do two large cement slabs for our outbuilding, raise ground and extend a gravel driveway around another side, place a smaller pad for a garage man door, and do a 16 by 18 stamped and dyed concrete pad for a future gazebo. They all came out great and very close to the bid price that he gave. Some parts of the bid had to be estimates, like how many loads of fill dirt and gravel were going to be needed for the rather long gravel section (approximately 20 feet wide and perhaps 100 feet long with irregular soil levels to start out with). The best part of the whole experience is that Christian is friendly and easy to work with. When he came out for the bid we really wanted someone with knowledge to help us figure out the details of the project. We knew overall what we wanted, but some of the details needed refining, and Christian had great ideas but wasn't pushy about it. Christian and his main colleague Elvis both worked like crazy in the heat. Pretty much every day for 5 days usually 12 hours a day, and pretty much non-stop for the most part. We've had a lot of work done at our house in the last few years and I gotta say -- these two are by far the hardest working crew I've ever seen. Christian's attention to detail was also outstanding. At the end of the last day he was by himself and still took the time to clean up the little bits of garbage and drink bottles here and there that the cement finishing crew had left. In my experience, these crews always leave a little bit of a mess, but unfortunately the main contractors often leave the clean up for the home-owner. Another way I judge contractors is how they handle the eventual little problems that happen. While trenching a small rock kicked up and punched a hole in the flashing of our steel building. Christian was honest and open and we resolved that to my satisfaction. To top it all off, my wife and I had decided that we were going to do our own irrigation line repair after a trench through the front yard. It turned out there were way more broken lines than we expected, and a pretty big supply line where we didn't think there was one. Christian helped us repair some of those, even though we had said we would do it ourselves: And he didn't charge extra. So, I am going to say that this was truly a 5 start experience. read more
