We have had storage at this facility for 7 years as a result of an international move. We moved from Boston but for some reason our storage was taken to Nj. We are now back in Boston and in May 2021 I spoke to Reliable Van Lines and asked for a bunch of our boxes to be sent to us. Less than 20 boxes and I was assured it would happen quickly. Then the person I spoke to went silent, would not respond to calls or emails, and then I got a response offering no reason and we are now 3 months later and I still do not have a quote, a date, or even a call back or email back again. Total silence. Over 7 years we've been paying their storage fees and I can't even get a response out of them. They are holding our things hostage. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THEM, they don't know how to treat customers, and their customer service is absent. I want an answer and my boxes, and an apology. Maybe we'll stop paying our storage fees and see how fast they respond then. For an international moving company, they are the pits! read more

We used Reliable to move from NYC to London in 2014. The team came across very professionally, from initial estimate to pack-up to receipt of goods in our new location. The move itself went really well. Where the team fell completely flat was in post-move fee reconcilement. (Fees are based on weight of goods moved. You pay based on the estimate done in your home pre-move. If you move less than estimated, you are to receive the difference between actual and estimated weight). Five months after our move, we are still owed several hundred dollars. I was promised a response the day after my initial request. I didn't get a response until I followed-up multiple times with e-mails and phone message. I finally escalated to the CEO and got a response; a check was promised to be cut. A month later, I followed up on the check's whereabouts. It again took multiple follow-ups to discover that the check was misplaced. I thought that wiring the funds to my account would be a quick and simple way to close out our business together. Unfortunately, this has not turned out to be the case. As I write this, I'm preparing to follow-up a second time with the team for specific details to trace the funds. read more

I wholeheartedly concur with other negative reviews. The Salesman was a true salesman, the actual movers were inexperienced and careless. I have been relocated several times and corporate paid, which probably received better service. This move i paid myself (so no recourse, repeat business to Reliable). They were terrible. Specifically: Promised 3 packers, only 2 arrived - pushing my move out date back a day. Promised everything carefully wrapped - pictures careless placed in boxes, without protection. and our most valuable furniture (dining table and hutch) was barely wrapped creating a huge gash in the side and legs. stripped screws when re-attaching legs on chairs one of the delivery movers was literally first day on job, usually a stockboy at walmart, said his dad told him to come that day the driver was MIA on the road for 2 days, pushing my delivery date back 4 days completely unprofessional. submitted claims - they paid the claim, exactly as the insurance says, but to repair damage to our dining table & hutch, which will cost over $1,500, i received $0.60/pound or $322.00 no accountability, no professionalism BUY the insurance and pack anything of value yourself find another mover!! read more

All sales and no execution. Sounds like a lot of businesses. Terrible experience with Reliable. Being in the Branding business I would question their name. Hardly Reliable. Most of the movers - on both ends - were OK, but the company should reevaluate their management. In the age of Social Media, companies have to realize that poor customer service can ruin a business if they over promise and under perform. Saying the day before your belongings are to arrive - through an email no less-, "Oh, BTW, we couldn't get all your belonging on the truck so the rest ( like 25%) will be there sometime later." The kicker, " But the driver made sure he put your "important things on the truck." RU Kidding me! Who decides what important to you? The driver? What, did he go through everything and then decide what was important? Not sure it's his fault. The buck starts and stops at the top. Yes, Reliable Management. And the cover-up is always worse than the crime. When you make a mistake, fess up and correct it. Don't say, " There's nothing we can do about it." Well, there's something customers can do about it. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!! We recently moved from a 1st floor apartment to a 5th floor apartment in an elevator building. The ONLY reason we hired movers was because of a very valuable mirrored entertainment center that had been custom built built and in my family for almost 40 years. Aside from our movers being extremely rude and annoyed that they had to do work to move us. The mirrored piece was broken in 4 places. Their claims office seemed more than willing to pay for the damage, until they received the $1200 quote. They are refusing to fix it! Don't use them if you value your stuff!! read more

In the first minute of the call he asked if 4-5k was ok with me, he then said ppl in the Bronx don't like to pay more than 2k for out of state move, I asked if he or someone from the company would come for an in home estimate to get a more accurate estimate he replied no , the Bx is a bad neighborhood and there's lots of stabbing there, no one would come . We'll see how this plays out, but here's the status. In March 2017 we scheduled a moved from NYC to MT for July. Movers showed up as scheduled on 7/11/17 but managed to leave behind a dining room chair that had to be packed and shipped separately. That turned out to be lucky because the chair has arrived, while the delivery window of July 21-24 has come and gone and we're still camping in an empty house. They might be able to deliver on August 3 - when we have a long-scheduled anniversary trip planned - but maybe not, they'll let us know. There's a $40 per diem and they'd cover a hotel, except that we have pets and kids and living in a hotel would be more work than managing with borrowed everything at home. Normally I use my bike for everything but they won't cover a bike rental because it's "not a necessity." Last time I checked, I was the authority on what's a necessity in my life. We thought we were saving ourselves hassle by hiring professionals, but for $6k, I should've hired local movers, rented a U-Haul and driven myself. this is shady business at its best. we scheduled a move last year from NYC to Charlotte. we had everything packed and ready to go but they helped us with packing large items such as furniture, etc... A couple of items were damaged such as my slow cooker and a statue but this is not my major complaint. they lost my entire wardrobe and all my expensive suits (my work clothes and anything else that was hanging): this included a sweater that my grandmother had made for me long ago which is irreplaceable. They also lost a large 3 drawer plastic bin which included all my bath items (expensive shampoos, perfumes, and everything else that I had bought in bulk). The issue is that upon receiving our shipment we had to sign paperwork that claimed we received all the content. But they don't give you a chance to review all the content to ensure nothing is missing. There is simply no time to do that. So I felt the pressure to sign right then even though I pointed out to them that I was missing the plastic bin which was the most evident item missing. It's literally impossible for anyone to unpack everything and do an inventory of missing items upon receiving the shipment. It should take a day or more. So when I complained of the missing boxes/items, they told me that they could not vouch for the lost items because I had signed the release paper thus I could not claim lost items once the paperwork was signed. Is that fair? I don't think so. I did not care to get a refund, but I really wanted them to make the effort and find the missing pieces. I mean, what happened to my stuff? Shame on you!!! This was my first move with Reliable Van Lines. I moved in the end of July- beginning of August from NY to AZ. From the start, they were punctual, organized, courteous & were prompt with correspondence. The movers in NY disassembled the furniture and packed it well, & the movers in AZ did a great job reassembling whatever they could. Nothing broke except a few glass objects I failed to pack properly. However, they lost the all-important "parts box" (which had the small parts for my 2 large beds and a bookshelf). Following which, they have offered me no solution except to look for the box &, if not found, they will pay me a barely 3$, according to the insurance policy. I have had to spend my own money and efforts to replace those necessary small parts and to have the beds and shelf reassembled since it's been over 3 weeks I have not slept on a bed. The least they could have done is to reimburse me part of the money I paid them, as an apology and towards the expenses to complete the job they left incomplete. Even 50$ or 100$, since I had in advance paid for both disassembly and reassembly of my furniture, but reassembly was incomplete. read more

A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. BEWARE. Moving is a daunting experience without having any mishaps, but what we endured from these subpar movers is a cautionary tale. There was sloppy packing, which resulted in broken items. We were missing several items, which we had to search our memories or realize over time were gone. Damage was done to our hardwood floors in the process. And, the worst: several boxes (14 to be precise) were missing for hours in addition to large pieces of furniture. The moving team had no knowledge to where they were, assuming they would be found later, mixed up in someone else's move. As it happened, we found the boxes and furniture, mis-delivered and sitting on another floor in our apartment building. We spent hours and a lot of hard labor, moving about 25% of our move ourselves. After a lot of back and forth with bureaucratic red tape and rude upper management, we were offered a paltry $300 for our inconvenience, a small percentage of our $6000 move. Not reliable. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this is kind of a special case. After moving out of Jersey City and to the SF Bay Area, I researched moving companies to help move my furniture, and I came across Allied Van Lines who put me in touch with Reliable Van & Storage Co. I talked to George who walked me through options and tried to keep competitive with other quotes that I had gotten from competitors while assuring me that my furniture would get to my destination safe and sound. I had another quote from an agent of United Van Lines give me a guaranteed pickup date on a day where I was allowed to move out, and I went with Reliable because of the customer service. I was given a 4-day window and unfortunately the day they picked, the condominium complex would not allow me to move out, so it had to be rescheduled to the middle of the week... in which I'd probably not be in the area, and they agreed to come back. After they picked up my stuff, that's where the positive things ended. I was charged $150 more for rescheduling the pickup, but with United and them guaranteeing a pickup date, I could've avoided that $150 fee altogether. The coordinator did not stay in touch with me at all regarding an ETA range aside from the initial pickup and it took George to email me for the expected date of my furniture, two weeks out, which I guess is about average from NJ to CA. When the furniture finally did come, they forgot a few boxes, and the driver (Dan) kept making excuses as to leave early, to keep on schedule. The company they contracted out to for west coast (NorCal Movers) is up in Oakland, and I was in Sunnyvale/Santa Clara. So they initially set a time for 9am, left at 9:30am to get the rest, and did not come back until 3:30pm... with only one person there to assemble things and the other mover + Dan gone. The person began assembling the bed but stopped short of assembling the rest of the furniture, saying that he "felt bad" about my furniture not being put together and wanted to get something together to have me sleep on... but that it was reaching 5pm and just couldn't finish assembling furniture. Trying to contact the coordinator to leave my concerns led to a dead end. My bed frame *still* creeks when I roll to my side and I'm concerned about it falling apart. I called George, who was outraged that they did not put things fully together, and recommended I leave a message for the coordinator. They had to send somebody from NorCal Movers - a completely different person - from Oakland to Sunnyvale/Santa Clara but also expressed confusion and anguish at how much was left to be put together. So I had to leave work, which costs me money, to let another mover into my home... and this mover tried to get me to stay to help him put it together, despite me needing to work and looking up the manual on this desk. All told, he put together my computer desk, but it's also improperly put together. I did not have a lot of stuff to be put together from the beginning, a comment everyone has made from start to finish. *I'm not kidding*, I have a handful of nuts, bolts and screws that is on top of my computer desk and I'm not sure where all of this is coming from or if my furniture is about to fall apart. When I talked to the owner of Reliable Van and Storage, they were apologetic and promised to look into this, but did nothing to satisfy me and did not provide any financial compensation for awful service. My floor lamp was also missing pieces, which I also brought up with the mover who assembled my computer desk, but he shrugged. I got a call from Allied this morning (Dec 13) saying that another customer received parts of a floor lamp and parts of a bed frame that is apparently supposed to go to me. I brought up the fact that my bed was improperly put together, same with the computer desk and parts of the table lamp were bent, and the claims adjuster was shocked. I'm now following up in this process. My advice is to look at other companies and definitely do not trust Reliable with long distance moves. Thank you for reading. read more

Jose Morales and his crew were simply fantastic. Interstate move over two days; they were professional, personable, knowledgeable. I was amazed as to how quickly they loaded and unloaded the truck. They even arranged my bedroom so that all I had to do was make the bed and collapse. Mr. Morales kept in touch via his cell so that I was able to give him a heads up on an accident on 81 thereby helping him to avoid the backup. Cannot recommend Reliable enough. "Reliable" movers are reliable for exactly that. I have moved intrastate and interstate and this was by far the WORST moving EVER! The entire nightmare ended with me having to threaten to call the police on one of the movers after he cursed me (out in my own home!!) in a most threatening manner. I could write an essay on all that went wrong, but the aforementioned is just the tip of the ice berg. The coup de grace was having to deal with their claims agent "Gigi". I sent photos of the DENT in my BRAND NEW wood floors (that "Reliable" movers caused). She refused payment claiming that the dent was due to dust. Yes, dust. STAY AWAY!! read more

I could not be happier with our move (1,200 miles, originating in Central NJ). This is my 8th move of more than 500 miles over the years, and by far the best. Reliable worked with us to be flexible with the pick up date (I have a broken neck and couldn't pack as quickly as I planned). When they came for pick up and we weren't ready, they would have been within their rights to pull away, charge a fee and return another day. Instead, the driver contacted the office and we worked out a fair price for them to finish the packing. They worked like (experienced and careful) maniacs, fast and efficient. Next day, the crew (3 of them) returned to put our load on the truck. I was very impressed with their load packing skills (tightly placed, which minimizes movement and the possibility of damage). Our load's weight was within 5% of estimate. (well done!). Our sales rep who did the estimate has been a driver and packer for the company, so she really knows her stuff. Reuben (the driver) kept us informed, as did our in transit coordinator. Unloading was smooth. Inventory was well managed. Everyone we dealt with was personable and professional. Floors were protected, no door frames or walls were dinged. Thank you, Reuben, and the whole team. We appreciate you! Reliable is, from my experience, "extremely reliable." ---- Moving advice: I know that each moving experience is different (as are reviews here). Read and understand the contract. You are obligated to complete payment before delivery and work out problems afterwards. Not doing so isn't an option. Don't blame them for following the contract you signed. If you don't buy additional insurance, you are limited to a "cents per pound" valuation. For anything you pack, problems are on you (I am experienced by now, so we had zero breakage). Be sure to check the inventory when things go ON the truck (everything tagged, notes on what it is) and personally check it off the list when it comes OFF the truck (each load has a different color and move ID tag). Take pictures of the any damaged items before the truck pulls away. Note problems on the paperwork you sign. Then you can approach the mover with a basis of facts (in a polite manner) and they will usually collaborate with you to resolve problems. read more

I can't even give them a star because they were so horrible. I was moving back to London after only a year of returning to the NYC area. It was a very stressful & emotional time before hiring Reliable and became traumatic during and after. I only hired them because I made the mistake of thinking they were like Pickfords who had packed me in London. They didn't even come close. The list of offences is so long, you may glaze over! Firstly, this was an international move that should have been going straight onto a container especially since the street I lived on had the room to accommodate it. They turned up in a medium unmarked truck. They brought up their packing materials which I could see were extremely inexpensive. Flimsy cardboard, thin clear tape, no bubble wrap, small selection of boxes etc. Only two spoke English, Brandon & Rocky, so I couldn't really communicate effectively with the others. One clearly had never packed a box in his life, let alone my good china. He was stacking it up to the top with hardly any paper & no bubble wrap in it all to protect it. This is when I realized I was screwed. I had to tell him how to pack it seeing that I had moved internationally 3 times. I told Brandon, the lead guy, that I didn't like the way things were being packed but he just dismissed me. I called the office to tell Denise Brennan of how bad they were packing and she dismissed me too. She knew how what a difficult move this was for me and she later used in against me in my complaint to the BBB saying that I was a hysterical woman! Anyway, they dumped toiletries straight out of draws into boxes with no paper. They took personal things out of my own boxes & dumped them into their boxes when I told them to pack the whole box the way it was. They were bumping furniture down the stairs because they couldn't be bothered to lift it. They damaged walls in the building. They wrapped my sofa with only paper. (Remember this is going into a container for months.) Then they didn't know how to get it down the stairs so they were dumping it over the banisters and ended up in tatters at the bottom. They said they would paper it again, but when it arrived here, it was still in the same state! They did the same thing with my expensive mattress & base. It ended up here filthy! They were packing my expensive dining chairs two in a box on top of each other without any paper or bubble. I saw this tall, bulging box & noticed what they'd done & made them repack it while I watched. They didn't mark furniture that had glass doors. They packed lampshades on top of each other with no paper. I had a crate built for a very large, heavy, ornate mirror. Firstly, they couldn't get it off the wall and then they had no protective packing for it. No bubble, no blankets, nothing...just a box. Luckily, another company who came to dismantle my bedroom furniture gave them some blankets to use. But it did arrive with some damage. I had to constantly run up & down the stairs to monitor what they were doing. When I told Brandon i didn't like how they were handling my stuff, he yelled at me to get someone else or do myself!! They were cursing me in Spanish which I understood because I speak Italian. When I called Denise to tell her, he lied about it and said I wasn't letting them work. I even called Robert Gaida, who supposedly is the boss of this sham of an operation and he NEVER CALLED ME BACK. They even packed open packages of food which is illegal in an international move. They were loading my stuff onto they dirty, unmarked truck & then taking it to their yard in Jersey & packing the container there. So needless to say I was terrified that my stuff would never turn up in London. I think they didn't have a license to drive containers. Frankly, i think all of them were just recruited off a corner somewhere to work for peanuts. They charge me $12,000 for the most abysmal service I have ever experienced. When my goods arrived in London, I had warned the Pickfords crew there would be damage. The boss came to take pictures. I strongly suggested they never use Reliable again. I had thousands of $$$ worth of damage. Reliable Van should be forced to shut down. They are a horrible bunch from the top down. Do not listen to any of the good reviews on here. We are totally dissatisfied with this mover. I am into consulting and have moved at least 6 times in the last 10 years and this is by far the worst move. If you select them either take insurance covering 100% cost or pray nothing should happen during the move. They broke our appliance worth 350$ and issued a refund for $18. I had an excellent experience with this company. At each stage of the process. I was moving from NJ to NC. I did a lot of research to see who was really capable of handling the move the way I needed it done. I was not disappointed. Starting with Bill who showed up on time in the evening after work (very accommodating so I didn't have to take time off of work for the estimate) and who made sure to get the quote right and answer all my questions before leaving. Note: his quote was VERY on target. He also stayed in communication with all my questions and changes later. Great service. Then Jessica in the office. Made any change that came up with no problem and super friendly and easy to work with. Answered all my questions quickly, knowledgeable, up front, and held commitments. Great service and what I was told would happen, happened. And the best was the crew lead by Jose and his team. Hard workers, knowledge, friendly, experienced, treated my possessions and my homes with care. They were very accommodating to any requests and extremely pleasant the ENTIRE time at both locations. A horrendous experience barely describes my move with Reliable Van & Storage. From a misquote on price by their "top salesman who gets all the big jobs because of his quote accuracy" (of course, I paid more), to late and inexperienced packing crews (one of which was his 1st day and spent that whole day in my office as I am paying by the hour of course), to a move coordinator who's most memorable quote came on the day of the move-from-hell (which ended at 12:12 am the following day, I might add) when she said, "This is why we recommend that you don't move and close on the same day" (Helpful, perhaps, had I heard it a month before the move...frustrating and annoying as I am trying to keep my selling and purchase schedules on track as the loading of the truck loading literally goes from one day to the next), to their management whose only response to our disastrous move was to tell me on the phone, "I am so sorry." We are so embarrassed." "It is our busy season and we overbooked our crews." "There is nothing we can do." The final straw was the bill which came in thousands of dollars above what it should have been with no explanation other than..." we used less small boxes than we estimated, but more big ones." Buyer beware. This could not have been a one-time issue. The poor scheduling, horrible management involvement and price gouging make me think that there is a pattern to this madness. NO STARS!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR BELONGINGS. We used them for a move at the end of last year and one of the crew, SAM, knocked over our steel fireplace tools on the ceramic tile surrounding the fireplace in our new home and cracked the whole thing. Rather then telling us what had happened when we asked if he was OK (our first and foremost concern was his safety) he never said a word and piled boxes on and around the fireplace so we wouldn't notice. When it came time to sign papers I did so trusting that all was OK as I had used reliable one other time and everything had been OK. That crew was a good bunch of guys. When I got down to my last boxes a day or so after the move I noticed the crack and immediately contacted Reliable and when they sent me the paperwork I filed a claim. They asked for pictures and said they may have someone come out and check to which I welcomed it as I just wanted to get the tile fixed. I never heard back after about 2 weeks so I followed up again. Two days after my follow up I received a reply from Lorraine in the claims department saying that because I signed a piece of paper, my claim was denied. She stated they talked to the crew - which means Sam denied and in turn lied AGAIN. It is more than clear by their lack of concern and caring that "the customer is always right" is not something this company stands by. So now I have to pay $750+ to get this fixed. Moving into a new home with a newborn baby is hard and costly enough without this added stress. To top it off, Sam was degrading and was constantly making smart remarks the whole move. I smiled and dealt with it because I just wanted to get it done and because the driver and the other guys seemed to be honest and fair. Knowing now that they did not tell the truth when I filed this claim not only angers me to no end, but it makes me sad to know that people just don't care. Their job is to move and handle people's possessions with care. With this company it is not the case. They will take your money and life to your face, but not own up to a mistake if made. It's been almost a year since we used Reliable Van & Storage for our move from Norwalk, CT to Saint Augustine, FL, and still I can't get out of my mind the great service we received. We had estimates from three companies and all three had estimated about the same tonnage for the move, however Reliable's estimate was not only the lowest cost but they also guaranteed the price even if the load proved heavier, which it was by a considerable amount. Considering that we moved over 17,000 pounds, damage was extremely low and we were fairly reimbursed for same. Everyone we dealt with was courteous and professional. I still remember talking to the driver after he and his crew had spent over 12 hours unloading and setting things up. It was 10 o'clock at night and he had another four hours to drive to his next destination. My husband was telling him a story. I reminded my husband that they still had a long drive to do that night and he should cut the story short. The driver said that he was interested in what my husband was saying and wanted to hear the rest. I told the driver that he had a hard job to which he replied that he loved his job as it allowed him to meet so many nice people. I think this story sums up the great interaction and service we received from everyone. I would definitely recommend Reliable to anyone who is planning a move. read more
