I had driven my rental truck to Chico and waited for the two movers I had hired off of the U-Haul website. In our phone conversation I was assured stairs and heavy objects, including pianos, were not an issue. When I met them, I had great hesitation as to their ability to lift, carry, and move heavy boxes and furniture. The two movers had problems moving simple items out of the truck and took numerous breaks. My teen grandson and I had to start moving boxes and items just to get the truck unpacked. To make matters worse, the furniture dolly holding my very heavy and antique upright piano had broken during transit. Moving it was tremendously difficult and when the movers begin to tell me they could move the piano down the ramp, in spite of the broken dolly, I became very upset and had no faith in their abilities. I quickly Googled movers and Sorenson Moving and Storage came up. I called and asked if anyone could come right away to help and direct the move of my piano and was referred to Rick's son, Richard. I was very upset and I'm sure he could sense my anxiety over the phone and assured me he would have help there immediately. I told the movers not touch the piano until help arrived. True to his word, he arrived with another gentleman, and basically transferred the piano to another furniture dolly. The two of them, with minimal assistance from my hired movers, moved the piano off the trunk, inside my new home, did most of the work to transfer it off the dolly and got it placed where I wanted it. Without this help, I know my piano would have been destroyed. I am so grateful for the help, assistance and expertise these two men brought to my move in spite of the hired movers. I know I have one more move in the future and when that time comes, I will call Sorenson's again, this time to take care of my entire move!

Three of the four did come to our location and were to provide a quote. We did ask for three-four quotes due to the complexities of our move, thank you Covid, and gave everyone the opportunity to put on their thinking caps and come up with figures that made sense and wouldn't put us into one of the cardboard boxes we were moving our things with. Rich Sorenson called prior to our appointment to get a sense of the dates we were thinking about and to be the first on the planet of cell phones to ask where we were located. That never can be a good sign when you're getting ready to hire a moving company, amirite? He showed up without a mask (smack in the middle of Covid). We gave him one of our prepackaged spares since we're a first responder family. He claims he must have left it on the ground at the gas station. Nice. Asked a lot of questions. Took measurements. Seemed checked out (this isn't our first rodeo when it comes to getting estimates and moving). And then crickets. No email. No quote. No phone call. And yes, we did check our spam. Unless he was emailing in broken English from Nigeria, nothing in the spam box was from Sorenson's. I did read another review that spoke of the same net result. I feel bad for the employees who are missing out on work because their estimator is slacking off. But I can't be bothered with making a follow-up call to light a fire under the owner's son's butt when I found some phenomenal out of state movers here locally that were johnny-on-the-spot with their estimates. If you're like us and looking to move out of this godforsaken place, you might want to check out the smaller guys who are working hard to make a name for themselves.

I am posting this review based on my experience trying to get Cubix Asset Management to respond…read moreregarding a serious issue at Skyway Self Storage in Chico. My storage unit at Skyway was burglarized and property was stolen. I had been told at move-in that security cameras were functional and that walkthroughs were done daily at close of business. The facility's website also repeatedly advertised 24/7 security cameras / 24/7 video surveillance. After the burglary, I learned that the cameras near my unit were apparently not connected to Wi-Fi, and there was no useful footage available. I repeatedly requested basic claim information: ownership contact, insurance information, preservation of video/access logs, and a substantive response. I also contacted Cubix through a general contact account because of its apparent involvement with the facility. No meaningful response followed. Meanwhile, my same unit was later targeted again in a second attempted break-in, where the bracket securing the lock had been cut. I was eventually referred to Nestor Campos, Cubix's regional manager, who said he was waiting to hear back regarding insurance information and next steps. I followed up again. Still no insurance information, no explanation, no meaningful response, and no accountability. At one point, documents in the payment portal, including my lease, appeared to have links removed or disabled, preventing me from downloading or viewing them during an active dispute. In my opinion, the handling of this matter has felt dismissive, evasive, and in bad faith. A company involved in managing or overseeing storage facilities should not advertise security, fail to provide usable security footage when a tenant is burglarized, ignore preservation and insurance requests, and then leave the tenant chasing basic information for months. If Cubix is not the proper party, it could have simply said so and directed me to the correct owner, insurer, or claims contact. Instead, the silence and lack of accountability have been the most consistent part of this entire process. Based on this experience, I would be extremely cautious dealing with Cubix Asset Management or any facility connected to them. Before renting at a property they manage or oversee, I would ask: Who actually owns the facility? Who manages claims? What insurance contact is provided after a loss? Are the cameras actually connected and recording? Who preserves footage and access logs? Can tenants reach anyone with authority when something goes wrong? My experience has been that getting answers to those questions after a loss is nearly impossible.
