But the job they did deserves recognition. Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. To summarize: The team at ATOZ was thoroughly professional and kept us informed with clear, consistent communication every step of the way. Importantly, the team worked efficiently to stay on schedule and were fair when an unexpected issues arose, providing clear solutions. The final result is exceptional, and the quality of work exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to recommend ATOZ to anyone.

One of the things hubs and I appreciated the most was that even when we questioned him about whether or not we should get an extra box of floor tiles to add to our existing 7 boxes we'd purchased back in April '21, for that "just in case" moment, Carmine wasn't hard-selling us into buying another case of tiles. Bill listened to my concerns and immediately began to educate me on how to determine if the floor was installed the right way and how I would be able to correct what had been done. Bill was genuinely interested in making sure I had the right information about tiles, the installation process and different techniques to get the best results. In the end, I had to remove everything down to the subfloor but I am so happy that I did because I will now avoid years of continuously having to repair a bad floor. Bill worked with me to pick the best floor tile for the design and price I wanted. He also met with my new contractor to make sure the floor would be installed correctly. It was such a good experience as a customer that I went back to get my counter and backsplash tiles. Bill was able to get all the products to me lightening fast and the quality was even better than I expected. Bill's expertise, compassion and great sense of humor helped me get through what started out as a nightmare. I now have a kitchen that I absolutely love! When we first started I felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work that needed to be done to renovate a 30 year old dentist office with 7 rooms to a modern beautiful spa like Acupuncture office. Everything needed to be gutted and replaced. We had to demo everything to its bones, tear up carpets and tiles, remove large pieces of walls in each room and then rebuild walls, doors, replace flooring, lights and everything to modernize and give it that spa like feeling. I was stressed....Until I talked with Fernando and we discussed the project and plans going forward. There are some people that instantly make you feel calm, relaxed and like everything is going to be okay. Fernando is one of those people. He is a true gift. The calm I felt was continually delivered over the time of the renovation as his team quickly went to work and my office moved along exactly along the time table he projected. Top quality, reasonable price, incredibly fast, and on top of all that nice and easy to work with. For more detail I should write some background. When we moved to Croton in 2019, we had plans for updating and customizing our home. We tried really hard to find good contractors, having had bad experiences in the past. Unfortunately we kept having one bad experience after another. Bad quality, unfinished work, open permits, huge delays, big increases in cost from the estimates, and in general headaches for us to deal with. Fernando came in and fixed all our problems. Other contractors took 3 months to grade, install a basic stone wall, and dig a hole for a rain garden. Then they quoted us $45k to finish the work. When we said that was too high they left us with a mess. Fernando took 6 days to do that same work for half the cost. Then on top of that he fixed a huge mistake the other crew made on the rain garden and installed a good system that makes us much more confident our home is protected from big storms. The whole time he was much more transparent about materials and cost and timing than anyone else we dealt with. We're hoping that he's available for all our future projects and so happy that we finally found such a great contractor. Don't hesitate to choose Vista Construction, and you're welcome to visit our place anytime if you want to see how nice his walls look. What's most confusing is the owner's complete lack of interest over the more than 6 months we went through this ordeal. He spoke to us twice, once when the problems started and then once at the end in an attempt to avoid bad reviews. He either didn't read or didn't care about the many emails we sent to him about our situation, since we never received responses or even acknowledgement. He simply did not care about helping fix the large quantity of problems we experienced. Again, worst customer experience of our life. Avoid KBS Kitchen.

Warning: Avoid KBS at all costs…read more I hired KBS for what was supposed to be a straightforward kitchen renovation. Prior to engaging and giving my initial deposit, they promised an estimated 12-16 weeks of total construction time. We are currently in week 24 with an additional estimated time to complete of 10-12 weeks due to cabinet delivery (which may have further delays). Even after the initial 12 weeks, the project was still in the beginning stages with no clear schedule, accountability, or progress. When questioned about the cabinet delay, they blamed "lack of workers after COVID " --which is not a valid excuse nearly five years later. After speaking with multiple other contractors in the area, I learned my experience is not unique. Other clients have kicked KBS out mid-project and switched contractors to salvage the work. I was also told there is an active lawsuit against KBS for unfinished projects. Several contractors confirmed that KBS significantly overcharges, including upcharging for the same cabinets that other suppliers sell at much lower prices. For comparison, (another local contractor) told me this same project should take 2-3 weeks maximum, and a separate local cabinet company in Westchester confirmed that I'm not the first client who came to them after a failed KBS renovation. This has been a nightmare for my family --costly, stressful, and completely mismanaged. With all this being known, the Company has not taken any action to help accommodate or offer any resolution. As a consumer, we understand there are delays in projects. But the major issue I have is the continuous false information, lack of care for their customers and treatment they've given to us as a family that includes 2 little toddlers that have gone through this whole process and KBS does not care Please take this as a serious warning: do not hire KBS.
