I spilled coffee on my laptop keyboard. I looked on the web and found Remachines; I called and was told my computer probably wouldn't work. If I brought it in, the turn around would be around 72 hours to see if anything could be done; I could live with this. I brought my computer in that afternoon and yes, the keyboard was corroded, which I expected. I was able to have my old computer looked at while there and the hardware on my old computer was saved. I was asked if I needed a computer and yes I did. They had a refurbished computer like the one I had; the hardware was put in and I was able to see everything from my old computer. I didn't have to learn a new computer system. I was a little skeptical at first but I felt very comfortable with who I was dealing with; she knew her business and I felt was very honest and upfront with me. I was very comfortable with the price of the refurbished computer. I would highly recommend this place and will go back, if necessary. read more

The technician I work closest with, Bao, has always been very helpful, and very fun to talk to. She knows how to establish personal relationships with her clients in a really genuine way, I can always trust her. Bao is one of the straightest shooters I've met. 2. Remachines has a great website but their electronics inventory in-store is fantastic. You have to see it yourself, she genuinely carries really good technology for great deals. i7 laptops for ~250$ last I checked, both PC and Apple. Even for little doodads like cords or webcams, Bao carries a lot of stuff. I can't drive home enough how good the deals are. 3. Bao fixes my stuff. Bao really, really fixes my stuff. They rebuild and offer for sale, high quality laptops and desktops, monitors, docking stations and various peripherals. I bought a very nice rebuilt business workstation laptop there six weeks ago and was so happy with the experience that I returned this week and bought another high quality rebuilt laptop set-up for my civil engineer wife who's remoting into the office from home. These machines are a total bargain and the tech support is awesome. Bao did the intial set-up on both machines and then spent a significant time with us on the second one when we had difficulty with home set-up on my wife's huge high resolution monitors. My computer crashed and I needed it repaired ASAP. I got a referral from the company I used to work with. I called Remachines on Sherman Avenue and was told to bring my computer in and they would take a look at it. I went there Monday morning and was told they would have it ready for me on Wednesday unless they needed to order some part or what might come up that was unexpected. I got a call the next day telling me my computer was done and the cost was less than they had estimated. I picked my computer up and they not only fixed it but checked everything over completely just to make sure there weren't any hidden issues. We've been dealing with Nate for probably over 10 years - built our last 3 (?) computers with only what we needed, plus he's been over to the house when we had problems. We really trust him with our security and personal info on our computers. Of course there's been a few problems over the years, but he always stands behind his work. As of mid-2019 he has a young Asian woman (Bau - I probably totally misspelled her name) at Sherman Ave. who is great to work with & really knows her stuff. For us, a very trusted business. For first timers to the Sherman Ave shop the WOW! inventory may seem daunting. Unique!! in Madison, Remachines funky interior design is pretty cool. I came to the shop as it was the only pc repair store open on Saturday. The person behind the desk was Bai who was both charming and knowledgeable. I left my machine with her for about 2 hours, she called and said no problems. I asked if the problem could be internet which she affirmed. We discussed several fixes and I settled on a wi-fi dongle to speed up internet. I admired her approach which was much more of a "let's see if we can identify the problem," rather than the usual "I know what's wrong and we'll try this." I wound up spending $20 for an answer that satisfied me and she wound up with a happy customer. Will definitely return following the next computer crash. read more

I had 2 HP laptops in need of hard drive replacements and an iMAC with other issues. I brought them all to Remachines and within 24 hours I had a diagnosis and quote of what my laptops needed. Within 48 hours, I had my laptops back in working condition. And for the iMac, that was also exceptionally fast work for needing to wait on parts. Unfortunately my existing iMAC simply required too many unknowns to feasibly repair it but they were able to transfer my harddrive to another iMAC. I cannot recommend this business more highly for how quick their response and repair time is, along with the affordability. read more

My wife's laptop was slower than an old dog in the August heat. We had a tight window for service. Boa did a fantastic job and was a pleasure to work with. She was thoughtful and the communication was wonderful. We ended up buying a refurbished laptop for less than the cost of fixing our old machine. Plenty of RAM, SSD, clean windows 10 install and faster than a cat being chased by a puppy. She transferred all the important stuff from the old machine and we were up and running in less than an hour once we got it home. Great find in case you need something quick. read more

My computer randomly died one day and when looking around I saw this place has great reviews, I'm ever skeptical so I wasn't sure if they're the real deal but going in for a quick diagnosis I can assure you they are! The work on my computer was quick and effective, she asked professional questions to get to the root of my problem quickly and helped assure me of what my problem is and the solution. This place is a real find. Bao is great to work with. I had a laptop battery issue which Best Buy said couldn't be fixed. I went to Remachines, and within a week, I got a new battery that saved a lot of data. It was reasonably priced too. I was very impressed with Bao's knowledge, prompt service, honest opinion and fairness. I would highly recommend Remachines for any computer repairs, especially with older laptops or PCs. I bought a refurbished laptop set-up for teleworking from RE's Sherman Ave location. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. I got a great set up for a very reasonable price. When I had trouble connecting my two company-owned external monitors to the new set-up, Boa, the technician I worked with, offered to have me bring them in and set them up for me. Remachines once again saved the day! My computer started showing some weird Bitlocker message that I couldn't get past. I tried everything I could find online and it didn't look like there were any options left besides wiping it and starting over (and I'd lose all my data). The geniuses at Remachines first tried to walk me through some things over the phone, and when I took it in they were able to fix it for a mere $45! No lost data! We all know how frustrating it is when our technology fails us. My computer wouldn't turn on on morning when I got to work, so I called bunch of places around Madison. They all wanted to charge me a minimum of $140 for a diagnostic test, then additional charges for the repairs. I took it into Remachines and an amazing woman there named Boa fixed my computer in like 10 minutes and it was only $40. I will definitely go back there next time my computer acts up. They fixed my stuck modem in less than 5 minutes, after I spent the better part of three days, trying many the the step-by-step instructions from YouTube. And went above and beyond to help with my bad day. When I went to leave, my car was dead, one of there employees, offered to jump my car.
