I used to take my kids to the old flippers fascination all the time. They loved going there but this place is weird and yucky. I agree with the person who says it is dirty and smells very bad of mildew. And I don't get the no pictures rule. The reason I don't understand is I had known Randy for years and, and we were in there and he thought I was taking a picture when I was texting my pet sitter. He came up to me telling me to stop and he acted like he didn't believe me. Anyway, later I saw a Facebook post someone put on there about taking pictures. I added to that asked him why he didn't allow it because people adding photos of the old machines to their reviews could get him more business, and next thing you know I was blocked. You don't need to go somewhere for fun and be followed around by spies and getting an asthma attack from the mold. Save your money. read more

We live in Oregon and often visit the Fascination parlor in Seaside, where my wife's family has played the game for at least four generations. When we were planning a visit to my home state, New Jersey, we wanted to go to Wildwood to play Fascination. It is two hours from where we were staying, but we had never been there. So, we looked up the hours, planned our trip, and got there when it was supposed to be open - after 4pm on a Thursday. The place was closed. We lost a whole day of our vacation trying to get to this place, and from what we could see looking in from the outside, the arcade looks more like a storage unit. A total and complete mess. After this unfortunate, eye opening experience, I honestly don't have many kind words for the people who own and run this place. We were visiting Wildwood with the family and randomly walked into the retro arcade. My kids were interested in those silly call games but once we made it past the front door, here at this place with something special, as if I had stepped into a tunnel back in time. This retro arcade was full of antique coin operated arcade games and other novelties even older. We enjoyed Gallagher and astroid, Miss Packman and a few others. It is amazing to me that these upright arcade machines were still working after all these years. To be fair, some thing this old can't be in perfect shape and your expectations should be sad accordingly there are some other types of games in the back but overall it was pretty fun. read more

If you remember Flipper's Fascination or Remember When arcade--or have seen Randy Senna on the show Hoarders--just know this is Randy's latest amusement hall venture. Back on the boardwalk where it belongs. The Fascination play is much better than at the Boardwalk Mall "Remember When" location but not quite as good as it used to be at the Flipper's Fascination spot several years back. But this is Randy's first year here, and no doubt improvements will come. This spot is a nice blend of pure Fascination (like Flipper's) and the Boardwalk Mall arcade, which I thought was weighted too heavily toward the vintage coin-op machines at the expense of Fascination. Don't know Fascination?! It's like a mash-up of bingo and Skee-Ball and is weirdly addictive. Be careful. Even though it's 50¢ a game--and there are often 2-for-1 games and even special hours where it's $5 all hour--you can easily get caught up in the thrill of it and blow through $50 (especially if you're playing with your family). Best money you'll spend in Wildwood, though. Randy is a character, and his personality can be big and, frankly, hard to take for some folks, but he's a truly interesting guy who cares deeply about these machines. Randy has the best little arcade on the boardwalk. But it shouldn't be so little. This place is packed to the gills with fun old games and Wildwood history and nostalgia. Randy has tons more like this stored away lots over at randy land wich the city of wildwood has been keeping away from us since the mid 90's. There's an amazing museum of all things Jersey shore in there that they won't let Randy open. Imagine 11,000 square feet of history and fun from all of Jerseys boardwalks. Visit his arcades ask him if you can donate to his dream of one day opening it all up for everyone to experience again or for the first time. Don't let Randy become a that never was. Help him build his dream. Which is my dream as well, btw. Everyone needs to visit this small arcade, the time machine of joy that it is. Everyone needs to hear about Randyland the Museum of Merriment that for some reason the city of Wildwood seems to want to keep from ever happening. It's a real cool place that holds a lot of old school arcade games! A lot of them are mostly games that I played during my childhood years in the 90s and 2000s. In fact, I consider this place to be more of an arcade museum than just an ordinary arcade because it feels like I'm reliving my past. They also have some kiddie rides from that generation that I used to ride as well. I also remember when they used to have pinball machines from the days of my Mom and Dad. Those were super cool! Even though there are some games that are jumbled up and don't work, I still think they're really a piece of history. If you're a fan of old school arcade games, this place is for you. read more

This place is one of the strangest places I have been to in quite some time. Unfortunately that is not because of all the wonderful pinball machines and vintage games. Unfortunately they are in terrible disrepair if they work at all. Strangely enough the bizarrely confrontational and very off putting owner is almost an attraction in and of himself. You have to meet him (oh you will meet him) to even slightly understand where I am coming from. In most any situation I would never mention the proprietor of am establishment in any sort of a personal manner. I would just mention the establishment that they created. In this particular case though the owner "Randy" virtually insists that he is 'front and center' as then there are the 50-100+ dolls/dummy's etc. bearing his likeness. He also pops up everywhere like some sort of peculiar wizard. Randy is watching you...Indeed, Randy is watching. Weather it is in one of the MANY cameras or silently popping up around a corner he is always there, just waiting for any 'mess-ups'. The golden rule "No photography" but you get the vibe he can't wait for you to do it. Very strangely enough my all time favorite pinball machine "Funhouse" has a lot in common with the establishment itself. In the pinball machine there is a dummy named "Rudy" (essentially a head mounted on the game board) who "follows you around" the game in the role of crabby obsessed theme park night watchman. If you look up the game (or play it) you will see Randy (the owner) is Rudy incarnate(!) hence I give a technically awful place two stars (instead of one), how often do you get to step into a real creepy game! *Again look up the Funhouse pinball machine. It is almost as if Randy (the owner) played it and said to himself: "that's who I wish to model myself after" regarding the games 'funhouse keeper' mascot. Weird. Really weird. read more

Awful awful service. Machines are in terrible condition. All the pay to play games are overpriced and barely work. I drove from Philadelphia to Wildwood just to go to this place and was treated like scum by its ape-like staff. Apparently you can't even have your phone out without getting accused of taking pictures by these idiots. My dad and I used to frequent the warehouse sized arcade that Randy had in the 90s. Many family pictures were taken there. I guess the TV show has gone to Randy's head. The Silverball in Asbury Park is much nicer, cleaner and well kept. read more

Do not go here. I care a lot about pinball and arcades in general, and the owner is a disgrace to the hobby. The machines are in absolutely terrible condition- we're talking non-working flippers, playfields that haven't been waxed in 20 years, and many that are more like projects than real pinball machines. I've been to a few places where almost 1/3 of the machines are out of order because the place is a small business in a rural area. That's fine- not everyone can afford to have pros on staff 24/7 to fix the games, but this is ridiculous!!! I nearly cried after seeing the condition of these machines- I think they should just be sold to some collectors that really care. If you go to the Silverball in Asbury Park, Modern Pinball in NYC, or Pinball Parlour in Earlington, PA, then you will see what I mean. These guys actually care about their machines and preserving the hobby. This guy does not- Remember When is really a storage room meant to turn a profit for the owner by exploiting the customer. I can't really comment negatively on the staff as they treated me with respect, but I did not get what I paid for. Shabby. The machines in the section that you can pay admission for, as opposed to paying for individual games, are in ill repair. Sure, you could view it as a museum. But the other places I've had the opportunity to experience that have vintage pinball machines have machines that are maintained and functional. Some also share information on index cards as to what makes that particular machine special. Not the case at Remember When. It's a collection of old machines that haven't been respected. My girl and I are both big fans of the old EM pinball machines, so we were super excited to find this place. However, many of the machines were in poor condition but given their age, that would be excusable IF you knew that before you paid the flat rate ($5 for 30 minutes) to play. The owner's banned all photos and video in the arcade, and had his change boy follow us around after I took a picture of us playing a game. He says its about "control". An attempt at a friendly conversation about the good-old days of WW turned into him informing me what he would do if he found I had posted any pics. I'm giving it 2 stars just for the unique vintage tables. I really wish I had a better experience there. I'm a lifelong fan of Wildwood AND pinball, but I won't go here again. I don't expect to be hassled while on vacation. What a turn-off. May be time to check out Ocean City or Asbury Park. read more

Love the machines, but they are a little run down. Big Bertha didn't keep score (couldn't put a pound on her), and the Whack-a-mole had no mallet ("use your hand" we were told). There is a big story about this arcade and the man behind it. Randy is the owner and long-time collector of vintage games, amusement park memorabilia, etc. Apparently he has some of the rarest stuff around. He is also self-taught in this industry and works on some of the chance games on the boardwalk itself. E.g.: water gun games, etc. He worked for Disney in the past too. Has the personality of a showman and a serious collector...even had a huge spot on the boardwalk in the 90's full of hundreds of games. There aren't many people like this around anymore, especially true showmen. I've met Randy personally, I've been at the same arcade auctions as him, and he's truly a unique individual that is dedicated to preserving history. He appreciates history, in general, the history of Wildwood and other towns, and of the amusement industry. He knows an incredible amount about games. I can appreciate this because I have had collections of things over the years, including arcade & pinball machines, and I know my share as well but probably nothing compared to him. I'm glad he brought some of his games to the Boardwalk Mall so he can run an arcade and people can play a mix of games, some rare. He has been trying to open Randy Land, which would be a museum-like atmosphere for his rare collection, for a long time unsuccessfully. Not totally sure what the problem is. I hear the City is being a pain but who knows. To the arcade part. I've been in here over the years. There are a lot of games and I was surprised at how many work. It's common to see down games in arcades, after all, and these are old machines. It would be hard to keep all this up & running. What was cool was that Randy would walk around and ask to let him know if something wasn't working so he could fix it. He again seemed dedicated to keeping the games up and the experience going. Some said in their reviews that these games are too beat up. Look, they're really old games and I've seen some of the worst stuff out there...these aren't as bad as people are saying. They've been played for decades and they work. I feel like he's holding the real good stuff for Randy Land, if it opens. Yes, he does have lots of cameras & tv's around the room and rules about no picture taking. I'm sure he wants to keep his collection in good shape and, let's face it, some Wildwood kids can be pretty rough. Arcades before present day were places where people carved their names into games and left cigarette burns all over too. So, yes, he wants to keep his games nice, but the cameras surely scare people away. This is where it would be more appropriate to be in a museum-like setting where people won't beat games up. This is a place that's supposed to be relaxing and fun. If the owner is going to make guests feel like they're being watched, that's not going to work. I think Randy's collection would be much more appropriate & successful in a different environment like a museum. My advice, take the rare games out and wait until the museum is ready. Leave games that you can still get parts for so that if they do get some bumps & bruises you can keep them going. Same goes for the aesthetics like side art and control panel overlays, etc. More direction in the arcade would be nice. Maybe segment the room out and place games in areas by era. Show some history and explain through signage. Keep it simple and reduce the feeling of clutter. There are too many games everywhere and not so much direction for the guest, besides the rules for not taking pictures. If the arcade is more organized then the games will be respected more, which may ease the worry about their condition in an active arcade environment. And, finally, the focus should be on the guest and them being comfortable. Expect games to get some bumps from use. Expect people to take pics. It's good publicity after all! The signs with rules should be taken down. Randy, I loved when you were talking to me about the games and their history. Educate people, but allow them to play themselves, and stay at a distance so they don't feel pressure. Then just allow people to play your awesome games and spread the word! Get rid of the mannequin heads and change the music. If people think they're off-putting like the no cameras rule, then there should be a revision. I appreciate the sense of humor and the personal touch, but the masses don't always get it. This place is cool and unique with its contents. Great collection! Has some opportunity for improvement, but what place doesn't? I would probably be a regular at Randy Land if it opens up! read more

I love vintage arcade games and I really did like this place last year. the gate was pulled shut on 7/14/14 my son and I were just looking in a employee was walking past and I asked are you going to be open, simple yes or no question he tells me there is a electrical problem and it could explode I'd move back if I was you. what a total dick, Randy heard what that guy said and yelled at him. I too, like many others on here, got squawked at for taking pictures. I love old mechanical machines and old pinball machines and love to take pictures of them when I encounter them. This person, I assume is the Randy that keeps getting mentioned in the other comments, was sitting at a machine and gave me a nice big "HEY!!! YOU CAN"T TAKE PICTURES IN HERE!" I looked at him, thought he was a customer, and said "Excuse me?" He again said, "No pictures in here.", and pointed to a sign, the size of a business card on the back of a pinball machine, that read "No pictures or video allowed in the arcade". These cards were on some of the machines but not all, I would say on less than half. Much like in the other reviews, he kept an eye on me. I guess he didn't trust that I wasn't going to take pictures. Needless to say I spent no money in the arcade, if he had approached the situation differently maybe not been so anal about it, I would have spent a decent amount to play some of the games that I've never seen or haven't played in 40 some years. This guy, like any business owner, is a representative of Wildwood, an ambassador if you will. He didn't make me feel welcome and this was the low point to an otherwise great vacation in Wildwood. I've not vacationed in Wildwood before and consider to be one of the best vacation spots I've been to but this arcade is a blemish on the boardwalk and a place that should be avoided. read more

This place is a must see attraction on the Boardwalks. It may be a bit dated and dusty for some but meeting Randy and talking vintage games and pinball with him was a pleasure in itself. Meeting Randy is like meeting PT Barnum if you're into this stuff as many of us are. He also has a vintage chicken style whack-a-mole "Clucky, Plucky, Lucky, Ducky, annnnd Crispy!" Sega machine with the volume cranked up that is located in the front gaming area that will drive you nuts but will thrill the little children - what a 'Carnie' vibe that game supplies. My favorite machine there was Galaga and I had tons of fun playing there. Many vintage pinball machines to chose from also and old vintage relics from days past in Wildwood, NJ. I recognized some ancient fun-house decorations from my childhood and took a few photos (Randy prohibits photos but WTF). Enough said - at least he has vintage machines since the other arcades on the Boardwalk have gone way too modern with their $3 a play Tomb Raiders LCD sit-down machines - boring. We want original Pac-Man, Asteroids and older driving and classic pinball games from the '70s thru '90s and I hope Randy will one day find a vintage ATARI 'Sprint One' or 'Sprint Two' machine in good working order with the spinning steering wheel and slap-shifter for my future visits!!! Remember When isn't such a strange place if you have a decent understanding of what OCD is and the mania associated with obsession and compulsion, however, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around my experience here and a negative encounter with the owner, Randy. Let it be known that I was immediately enamored with the quality, breadth, and amount of vintage games in front of me upon walking down the stairs and into Remember When: there are games in here from multiple decades ago that were produced all around the country. Pinball, Skee Ball, drop your quarter into the atomic age machine and launch it to make the racehorse go, etc., anyone who loves games or functional vintage objects for their originality and history, in theory, should have a great time here. So, I was clearly excited about spending some time in this arcade. In typical tourist fashion, I was checking out all the games with my SLR slung around my neck. After a while, I spotted a particularly well-crafted game, and shot a photo of it. Within ten seconds, a disheveled-looking guy who looked to be in his early 50s approached my boyfriend and I and told me that photography was not allowed and he needed to watch me delete all photos that were shot within the arcade. Although I am a photographer by profession who will go at great lengths to get a shot, I quickly complied and apologized: whoops! These things happen, right? I was ready to move on and play some games, but he kept standing there and said "You know, there are 20 signs in here that say no photography". I apologized again and said "Well, this is a very visually stimulating place, I must have missed them". Then it seemed like Randy wanted to get into with me. My answer really seemed to agitate him. He started to angrily speak about photography laws of the boardwalk in a way that made me feel really uncomfortable, so I turned away in the hopes he'd get off his soapbox and walk away, which he did. If it weren't for my boyfriend quickly loading a bunch of quarters into a Skee Ball machine and joking about Captain Bringdown effectively sucking the fun out of what should be a great place, I would have walked out of there on the spot. I mean, really? Who goes into an arcade and scans the walls for instructions? What kind of business owner verbally berates their customers until they start avoiding eye contact with them? Especially after they politely comply with the business owner's requests? As someone else mentioned after their run-in with Randy, we were then followed by an employee. Creeptastic! Whatever, dude. The OWNER, RANDY SENNA, got in my girlfriends face today because she innocently almost took a picture of an old game that she liked. RANDY saw her with her phone in her hand and quickly ran up to her yelling that those pictures need to get deleted right now. She told him that you dont have to be so rude about it (as She was laughing at how pathetic he was) and then he started to get closer to her as he was berating her. He then said that I wasnt even a customer, even though, 5 minutes earlier, He was sitting near me as I was playing one of his shooting games. I guess he tried to intimate me and got closer to me also, and then quickly came to his senses and turned around and walked away which was a really good decision on his part. HE IS AN ANGRY MAN. It was okay. However, most of the games were in major disrepair. The air hockey works as does a few handful of 'newer' looking games. It was a fairly good experience to see what our parents and possibly grandparents used to play in their arcades. I advise young teens and children don't go in there if they wanna play games. You will be constantly followed around like a criminal as my friends and I (freshmen) were followed. If you decide to press your luck and go there obey all the rules even though they are ridiculous. We did, but from the other reviews it would not be a very pleasant experience. There are cameras everywhere, so don't even try to sneak a picture. I can't help but wonder why you can't take pictures? I am such a fan of this place! I at least spend two to three dollars every night here while I'm on vacation. Yes the machines are old but isn't that the point. I have never had a machine that doesn't work and if the machine ate my quarter (which has maybe happened two or three over the years) Randy and his workers will gladly help you out and give you a quarter back in return. I have never had a problem with the staff. They are friendly and helpful when I need it and stay out of my way while I'm playing. As far as the photos, I have never tried to take a photo in here before because even with all the sounds and lights you are still able to see and read the signs that state no photos or video. Like others have mentioned on here (should've taken it as a warning) the staff at this arcade have some sort of psychological problem. They really yelled at me and even called me stupid because they thought I was taking pictures of their precious machines with my Iphone, when back in reality all I was doing was answering a text. According to the old, ancient "love" machine in this fine establishment, I am corrupted. I have been called worse, so I'll take it. Plenty of interesting and old school games here. Some were way before my time. It's cool that they are still working. Games are usually a quarter to fittee cent. A game we were playing for awhile was where you throw/slide balls into a bunch of holes and had to connect a row of them. Hard to describe but it was a bit addictive. You play against a bunch of people, and winner gets to play 3-4 free games. Randy the infamous hoarder who owns the joint, was happily and busily announcing the action. I think that the Retro Arcade it's like a museum ,the machin are very old , you have to expect that maybe the machines will not work perfectly. In my opinion this retro arcade is awesome because you can see how your parents have fun when they were young . They didn't had iPhones or computers PlayStation Xbox, they had just the boardwalk , fascination and pinball machines. I am from Romania Europe, and you can't not see this tip of retro arcade , you will see just the regular arcade like on the boardwalk. Appreciate this place because when this machines will broke nobody will replaces them and a lot of memories and history will be gone. If you whant to see the arcade , don't search for photos on internet , go there play some games have some fun and respect the only rule , don't take pictures . Horrible place! My husband- who collects retro video systems, and my son- who loves them went into the arcade on our first full day of vacation. They were walking around, and one of the machines had two credits. How many times does that happen? OFTEN. So, my husband played the credits. The guy who was working came out, claiming that my husband stole (50 cents) from him. WHAT?!? Who does that? Called him a thief, told him he is teaching my son to steal, and told him to get the hell out- in front of my son. So, I went and gave him his precious 50 cents- that he left in the machine and was nowhere in sight- and asked him not to speak that way in front of my son. He replied, "at least you aren't a thief". Well, neither is my husband. Know what else I am not? A psychotic person that has no business owning an arcade. Awful. Terrible. Ruined our day. I have been coming here for over 20 years, and will never step foot in that place again. The guy working? The OWNER. Shame on you. This place has a HUGE selection of vintage electro-mechanical pinball games from the 1940s through the 1980s. You pay a reasonable fee by the half-hour or hour and you can play all you want. I'm a big fan of vintage arcade games and I played games here that I've never seen before. A must-stop in Wildwood! read more

This place is AMAZING. My husband and I were hesitant to check it out due to the lackluster reviews, but wtf. It's incredible. The guy who runs it is incredibly nice and really gracious to the people who actually appreciate the games and are respectful of the environment. No, you're not going to take 1,000 selfies here, nor are you going to bring your five hyperactive kids, nor are you going to be welcome if you're a drunk frat guy looking to play some games with your buddies. But if you love games and you appreciate looking at/playing really old, cool, unique arcade machines, you will lose your mind. This place rules. read more

Randy has a row of Fascination up and running...but as he is running everything down there, sometimes he is distracted. It's not the same as when he was down the street, but it's a start. He still runs a great show and makes everyone feel special when they are down there. Here's hoping he can return to street-level and get that museum up and running! How disappointing. I just dropped in while my kids were at the splash park to see if it's worth bringing them back later. The man working there would not let me LOOK at the machines. I explained that i was planning on bringing five kids back there later and he said he didn't care ...if I wanted to look (not play to be clear) I had to pay. Kind of seedy and I'm certainly not bring my kids back there! read more

The change machine coming in to the arcade from the street is a rip-off. My 10 year old son put money in the machine not realizing there was a 25% charge for change. NO he did not read the sign that said something about parking, what kids are going to read a sign on a change machine or adults for that matter. When I asked the owner about this his answer was you should've read the sign on the machine, if you wanted change for the games you should've got change at a different machine more inside the arcade. So if we would've walked 10 more feet we would not have been ripped off. I asked him to name another change machine in a arcade anywhere that charges for change and he said well I don't know of any but didn't you look to see what you were getting what if it gave you pennies or nickels? Really!!! What an idiot to say something so dumb and yes as a business person you are a idiot because instead of making 20. plus dollars that we were going to spend, you instead made a 1.25 by being a RIPOFF artist. read more
