We hired DJ Collin for our wedding in October in Long Island, and we were so excited from the music samples on their website that they were the first vendor we picked (even before our venue!). We thought that we needed a good DJ to set the vibe for the wedding, and I was really concerned about having music which reflected our style as a couple. I went through a lot of preparation with Collin in designing sample play lists and the schedule for the day, and it clearly paid off because the music was perfect for our day. I'm from Philadelphia and my husband is from Greece, and we have diverse family origins (Quebec, Greece, etc.). Collin played everything from my high school favorites, to recent hits, to Greek and French hits. My favorite part was when Collin played "Motown Philly" by Boyz II Men and got all my Philly friends dancing. My wedding was in the morning, and I arrived with like 10 minutes left before the start, but Collin had already set everything up and was completely prepared. Do not get a DJ with no demos online! We went with The Remixologists for our wedding in Brooklyn because we really liked the style of the mixes on their website. They hooked us up with DJ Colin, who I think was relatively new to the Remixologists at the time. He also had several fantastic mixes we could listen to, and a quick conversation with him made it clear that he understood our tastes in music and that he would be able to put together a night we would enjoy. Working with Colin was super easy. We made a list of songs we liked, must plays, no plays. and special songs (like first dance), and shared it with him online. Then we talked to him on the phone about the general feel we wanted the night of (no hammy announcements, no electric slide, etc.). That's it! Colin took what we gave him and ran with it. We had one more conversation a few days before the wedding to double-check all the special songs and cues. Colin arrived on time, in style, and set up well before guests arrived. He got all our cues right and kept the party going from start to finish. Everyone loved the music and raved about how fun the wedding was. Colin was really great at reading the crowd and stringing them along from one hit to another. I should also point out that his actual DJing skills are excellent - I often notice lesser wedding DJs flub the transitions, but Colin aced them all. It's clear that Colin really enjoys his job, and it comes across in the music! If I ever have the fortune / misfortune to have another wedding, there are some things I might do differently, but one choice would be easy - The Remixologists. We got married last month and Simon aka DJ Taiga was our DJ from start to finish! Pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail, reception all provided by him. I knew our venue was not big enough for a band so from the get go we had to get a DJ. Now the search sucked, we asked our venue for recommendations, weddingwire, and finally Yelp and Remixologist popped up. By far the easiest experience in terms of communication and setting things up. So like any other search, I read the reviews, combed through their website, listened to a few tracks, and watched a few videos. Ok, liked what we saw and heard and click sent an email to inquire. Now, here is what set Simon apart from the others right away. I GET A RESPONSE FROM SIMON HIMSELF. Not an admin asking me more questions, not a rep interviewing me to match me to a DJ, but Simon, the person I already did research on and wanted to know his availability and set up a call to talk things through and see if we matched. Once we booked, we get follow up emails to help us along the way. We probably exchanged a handful of emails and always a prompt response. A few weeks before the big day, we sent Simon some songs we wanted to be played and some we absolutely did not want to hear. His attention to detail really made the day go so smoothly. Looking back we are so thankful that Simon helped us make sure we laid out the evening because once he knew what we wanted, we did not see him the rest of the night. From the moment we arrived at the venue, he greeted us and I forgot I had a DJ. He never had to follow up with me or the hubs because he knew what he needed to do already. He started making announcements when needed and I remember thinking I had forgotten the timeline because it was just running so smoothly. And yes even the 93 year old grandpa was poppin and lockin on the dance floor! One other thing I cannot stress more on was Simon's professionalism. It was our wedding day and not once did he try to advertise or was there any gaudy signs promoting the company. No shout outs and he used music to get everyone on the dance floor not shouting into a mic. YES WE HAVE ALL BEEN TO A WEDDING LIKE THAT BEFORE! PS. He did a very professional job of pre-planning for the event, making sure he was early with his equipment and getting set up before any of the guests arrived so that as soon as the reception started people would be ready to party. My husband had one task for the wedding- to find the DJ. He did his research and came across DJ Taiga (Simon), who was NOT on any of our venue-recommended lists. And thank goodness, since he was so great! We were "generally specific" with our playlist, meaning we had several 'play this song' and 'DON'T play this song' along with 'play current top hits' instructions. I was nervous because I have been to clubs where they play the current jams, but the DJ's are terrible! There can be messed up transitions, or weird song selections, which absolutely ruins the party. Luckily. Simon was amazing!! He turned our song suggestions into a seamless party session. Everybody was on the floor dancing all night! I've never seen anything like it :) He was very helpful with narrowing down song selections that I chose for the ceremony, as well as suggesting song edits for my walk down the aisle (which was dramatic and amazing) and editing the mother-son dance for my husband (who originally suggested a 4-minute song lol). He was very accommodating in that I wanted a specific version of "a thousand years" to walk down the aisle to. He found it and cut it and it was absolutely amazing. I keep saying 'amazing' because it's true! Throughout the entire process, he was incredibly communicative and took the time to coordinate with the wedding venue for both the ceremony and the party events. He even scheduled a phone call a few days before the event just to iron out details- which I greatly appreciated. People have REPEATEDLY told us that ours was the "best wedding ever" which, I think, had a lot to do with the DJ :) Just hire him. This will be one less thing to worry about. Epic party -- thank you so much Simon (DJ Taiga)! To start with, I had no recommendations for a wedding DJ (we knew we didn't want a live band) from friends or family. I spoke to another DJ but didn't get a great vibe so I turned to Yelp and found Simon's company, The Remixologists. After listening to awesome mixes on their site, I reached out and was impressed with Simon's quick reply. We scheduled a call and spoke briefly over the phone, we told him what kind of music we like, what kind of party we were looking to have, and he totally met all our expectations and exceeded them. We actually had to pay our venue to extend our wedding for an extra hour because people wouldn't stop dancing. This was also on a Sunday night from 12a-1a, so you could imagine how good it was if people were staying out late on a Sunday night. We discussed songs that would be played and wouldn't play, at first I wanted to compile a huge spreadsheet with my favorite songs, but it felt too controlled, and I really wanted the DJ to do his thing and go with the energy of the party. Working with The Remixologists for our wedding was a fantastic experience! Our DJ was one of the highest priorities when looking for vendors and when we found The Remixologists, we knew we were set. DJ Taiga (Simon) was incredibly helpful and informative right from the start of our conversations, walking through the details of The Remixologists' services and answering our questions over the course of several phone calls. Once we had decided on them, DJ Ben reached out to us almost immediately with a great template that made sure all our bases were covered in terms of everything from ceremony music to cocktail hour to the first dance to the "must play" and "do not play" lists. In terms of the wedding itself, everything was executed flawlessly. Music was really important to us, and we really wanted to throw a great party for our guests. We had been to some otherwise nice weddings where no one really danced and wanted to avoid that! The second we met with DJ Ben we knew we were in good hands. He understood exactly what we were going for, and with his extensive experience I knew he would be perfect. I loved that he took the time to consider all of our requests, and both Ben and Simon (DJ Taiga) responded to all of my (many) emails really quickly. Ben was our DJ from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception and did a seamless job for each part of the day. We even had a traditional Korean ceremony during cocktail hour that required specific music, and he worked with our vendor to make sure it was played at the appropriate time. Ben read the mood of the crowd perfectly, starting out with some feel good motown and then transitioning to more hip hop and top 40 towards the end of the night (exactly what we wanted). All of our guests can not stop raving about what a great time they had at our wedding. Even my mom, who is super picky, went up to him personally to thank him. My only regret is that with all the running around I had to do, I didn't get to hit the dance floor as much as I wanted to. Thank goodness my best friend also hired DJ Ben for her wedding in January. My wife did a ton of research and planning for our wedding so I wasn't worried at all about her vendor selections. Simon was easy to get in touch with and was very quick with any questions or emails we had. We scheduled a meeting with him and he was there early and was prepared to answer any questions we had. After a few minutes of chatting with him we pretty much knew we were going to go with him as our wedding DJ. His prices are very reasonable. DJ 9-Volt (Tristan) DJed our wedding in Hawaii and the whole experience was top-notch from A to Z. I've always viewed a wedding as a massive food and dance party so having the right music vibe was important to us. As a disclaimer, I've known DJ 9-Volt for many years as a personal friend, but having been to many events that he's DJed, knowing his charismatic personality, I knew he would be a perfect fit for our wedding. Simon met our need as a DJ that is fluent in both Mandarin and English. He took time to learn how to properly pronounce our parents names for the tea ceremony and also our bridal party's names and home towns for our NBA style intros which was a huge plus! Simon took great care in answering all of our questions and even offered great tips on our wedding timeline to maximize the time for dancing. Having DJ Taiga (Simon) from the remixologists as our wedding DJ was one of the best choices we could have ever made for our wedding! He is amazing, professional, helpful, and worked with us to create the atmosphere and the party that we and our guests loved. In our minds, music was going to be one of the most important parts of our wedding, so we spent a lot of time searching and reviewing various DJs. We love to dance and wanted our friends and family to have a great time at our reception. We didn't want someone who would just shuffle through an iPod of songs that we had picked without reading the crowd, and we also didn't want a DJ who would spend ten minutes transitioning from one song to the next without our guests getting to hear the songs they love and recognize. After meeting with Simon, we knew he and the Remixologists were for us. He genuinely loves music and dancing like we do, he was fun to talk to, always prompt in his responses, and after looking at a list of songs that we loved, he was immediately able to read us and select other songs that were perfect for us. As wedding novices ourselves, Simon was also key in our event planning. He gave us a 'general' reception schedule to help us know when things typically go down (cake cutting, speeches, and such), which really helped us tailor our day. He also easily improvised throughout the evening when changes or requests came up, and seamlessly set up and moved his station three times: for the ceremony on an outdoor patio, to our indoor cocktail hour, to our reception in the indoor banquet hall. In developing our Wedding Playlist, we gave Ben a list of our "must-have" songs and "do not play artists" and then told him to just play what he felt the crowd wanted for the rest. Simon (Taiga) and the Remixologists were a big hit at our wedding. We received numerous positive comments during the wedding and afterwards regarding the music selection, the flow of the music and the professionalism of the DJ staff. They were more than willing to accommodate our requests whether big or small such as having a screen projector for our slideshow, play video clips/sound clips during the best men speeches and even helped pick songs when our parents requested special music for ballroom dancing! Hiring Ben (DJ Benja Styles) was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. From the beginning the two things I cared about most for my wedding were photography and having a killer dance party, and Ben really delivered on the dancing! He had everyone, including me, dancing all night long. I was having so much fun on the dance floor that I missed other parts of the reception like the photo booth and the beautiful terrace looking out over the water. Simon was so professional and engaged from the start with helping us craft the vision we had for our wedding -- not just in the music selections but in the overall tonality and feel of our wedding day. This review is SO OVERDUE...but I was cleaning out my email and found the reminder from a few years ago to write a review of our experience, so here I am! My husband and I were married in 2015 and had DJ Ben at our wedding. He was fantastic and was instrumental in some serious venue sound system troubleshooting. Turns out he was a sound engineer (or something like this, the memory is a little fuzzy) and saved the freakin' day! My husband didn't tell me any of this until the next day because he didn't want me to have a meltdown that we were so very close to having no music at our wedding.
