Years ago, I was a loyal customer and was extremely satisfied with their services. They did a great job removing the tattoo on my arm. I don't remember how many sessions it took, probably six or more. I needed lidocaine shots I think to help manage the pain of the first few sessions. Thereafter, they put lidocaine cream on my skin since the sessions were getting shorter due to less ink. I was happy with the removal and customer service back then. Five stars. Fast forward to recent visit, my opinion of them has changed. Due to their lack of professionalism and hostility, I have to give them one star. I wish they had canceled my appointment if they were in that bad of a mood, or at least reschedule me. This was NOT how I wanted to start the new year. Friendly, helpful, professional staff. Very clean and safe office and practice. I'm sooooo extremely pleased with the results of my Pico laser treatment. I'll need to go back for another round, and I think the hyperpigmentation will go away and just require a few treatments every few years for maintenance in the future. Mark was super nice and walked me through the treatment last winter. I ended up rescheduling due to illness and wanting to await Covid vaccination. I greatly appreciate them not charging me cancellations, and I definitely won't take it for granted in future. They called in my prescription to Kaiser Permanente which made it easy for my to apply the numbing ointment an hour and a half before the procedure. Yes, it is a laser, so you can hear and smell it striking your skin! Jeannie, the licensed nurse, who did my treatment was excellent; and, she was very communicative during the entire process - both in informing me of what she was doing as well as checking in with me to see that I was okay. One point of feedback is that they should make sure that clients are given pre- and post-care information as I had to reschedule after learning that I should not have used retinol or glycolic products the week prior. I can't express how much I appreciate this business... it's been really depressing to have this scar/hyperpigmentation on my face the past years... I did a lot of research on Asian American skin and what are the safest, effective laser treatments for hyperpigmentation. This was the only place that came up in the area (More available in NYC and LA dermatology offices). I was happy wearing masks during Covid so I would not have to put on makeup to cover it, which would never last very long... and now I feel so much gratitude for being able to go without makeup again (but don't forget 50+ uva/uvb mineral- based sunblock, a very Asian thing!). So yes, I highly recommend them! For background on the before and after photos of my first treatment: In my mid-20s, an aesthetician (Shia of Glow Med Spa in Richmond, VA) burned my cheek doing some fruit acid peel (or so she says - do not trust an aesthetician without dermatological education!!!). And basically, in my late 30s, the hyperpigmentation re-appeared and darkened significantly. Do not go to her (at least if you're a BIPOC, because she will damage your skin). I have a large tattoo on my lower left leg and had one appointment for laser removal of the tattoo at UntattooU. Within 24 hours I developed several large blisters, many 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter. The blisters were so large, many burst and after a few days and sign of possible infection, I visited a doctor and was put on antibiotics. When I called UntattooU to cancel my next appointment, reporting my experience, I was told that this reaction occurred due to how colorful the tattoo was, and that if I didn't want to continue, that was my choice. I booked a same day consultation. I did not have to wait long to be seen. I decided to move forward with a tattoo removal session during the consultation. I had my first PicoWay session with UnTattooU, and unfortunately I regret it. I will say the office is nice, and Arianna who works there is nice as well. However this is not a highly professional establishment. I met one of the co-owners, a young Asian man who was honestly quite rude and pompous in his customer service delivery. When discussing the after-care procedure, the young man condescendingly told me to make sure I took care of the lasered tat properly- when I ensured him I would, he was skeptical and said "well everyone says that." So rude of an owner to treat his customers this way. IMPORTANT- I asked him how UnTattooU started. He noted that he and his co-owners had the $$ for an investment, and chose this line of business. Think about it- this is an establishment who just had the $$ to buy lasers and administer treatment, WITHOUT medical backgrounds or an understanding of different types of skin. Huge red flag. If you're thinking about removing a tattoo, I highly recommend working with a doctor/dermatologist- NOT a place like UnTattooU with no medical credentials. Immediately after treatment my tattoo burned like hell. It's a small tattoo, but the blisters that followed treatment were ENORMOUS- one blister was about an inch high. UnTattooU will tell you this is normal, but this is a huge red flag. UnTattooU also recommends you immediately pop blisters- this is very poor medical advice as popping blisters increases risk for scarring and infection. My second treatment, I switched to a dermatologist. No burning after treatment, no blistering at all, and barely any pain. My dermatologist validated that no blistering should occur, and if it does, not to pop the blister right away. I'm glad I didn't listen to UnTattooU's bad after-care advice. Please stay away and find a doctor to work with your skin, especially if you have tan or sensitive skin. Hope this helps. read more

I was waiting to see my progress before writing a review, but the time has come (especially since they just used my tat on the email newsletter- ha). I feel that I probably need one final treatment before it's gone forever, but I am amazed at the outcome thus far. I've had 5 treatments on a horrible tattoo that I got when I was 16. The quality was awful, the colors were almost completely green and yellow (the hardest to remove. My luck), and it was even scarred in the middle from the crappy "artist" who inked me (supposedly makes the ink even harder to remove). I've been wanting to remove it for 13 years but I am SO glad I waited for Picosure to come around. I went in really skeptical, but I bought a package that ensured it could be treated additional times at no charge if the ink remained. 5 treatments later, I'm beyond a believer. We just started treating the orange with the "normal," old school laser, and that is the easy part. I have used the Novacaine each time because while I have an exceptionally high pain tolerance, the laser doesn't tickle. Add in the cold air blower that they utilize, and it has been a pain-free experience. I will update this after I'm 100% done, but I would absolutely recommend UntattooU to anyone. Quality, customer service, and effectiveness are all A+ here. read more

I sound like a walking billboard due to how much I believe in the new technology that is FINALLY readily available, safe, and pain-free (feels like a super mild static-electric shock from a rug and a mean friend). The assistant was friendly and helped me settle in. The complimentary consultation was hassle-free, and, as requested, they scheduled enough time for the procedure to take place almost immediately afterward. I have a 5 sq.in. tattoo on the lower and upper right side of my neck filled with red, green, yellow, blue , orange and black. Needless to say, that's a really sensitive area. I wanted to feel minimal pain, as you would imagine. They took care of that with small lidocaine injections and a cooling hose. I have approximately 4 more visits to go. It's really nice to know that when I make the two hour drive to get there for each appointment, I will be dealing with genuinely nice people who know their line of work and just want to make me outwardly resemble the person I am today. The Picosure laser is kind of mind blowing. You literally feel nothing after a topical anesthetic is applied (at least I didn't and my tattoo is on the top of my foot). I have only had one treatment and my dark green clover is several shades lighter; truly amazing technology. Should be a simple laser procedure right and it should be pain FREE. But believe it or not it was super intense pain! False advertisement! My face all swollen up and it's black n blue. No numbing cream are use. They advertise as pain free tattoo removal!!! Liar, Liar, Liar!! I was charged $150.00 for this service . Want a refund! Worked is no good. I will never recommend to anybody. Make sure whoever will have this kind of service to ask to numbing cream prior to procedure. This is tortured. For over 10 years I have had a constant reminder of when I overcame a difficult year, 3 little radiation dots on my chin, my neck and the middle of my chest. A littttle late but I had such a pleasant experience I wanted to make sure that I shared it with the world. My terrible tattoo is literally a rainbow that wraps around my arm, about 2 inches wide. My sessions are divided into two, the outside portion of my arm and the inside portion. My very first session was about a month ago. Mark performed my procedure and I really think he played a big role in my pain free experience. He's super awesome! The actual procedure is a piece of cake in my opinion, took less than 10 minutes. After care does take a little time and dedication. I developed blisters the next day (which is normal) - just kept it moisturized and wrapped up. Blisters dried up in about 3-4 days and I'm doing great. Getting a lot of comments and how much it has faded so far. :) read more

Having recently decided to get some adverse tattoos removed I began shopping around in the Va/D.C. area. UntattooU seemed to be the most professional and reasonably priced location. This held true. My consultation left me feeling very confident in the proposed results. I am having a tattoo covering about half my forearm removed (not much pain there even without numbing cream or shots, and very little blistering afterwards), and a large tattoo on my stomach removed (very painful even with cream, blistered up pretty bad but cleared up in about a week or two). My overall opinion of UnTattooU is very positive. My tattoos are vulgar, but everyone there has been very professional and I haven't felt judged by my ten year old decisions. I've had five tattoo removal treatments so far, and have been very pleased with my experience! I think everyone's laser tattoo removal "journey" will be different, depending on pain tolerance, color of tattoo, and age / location of tattoo. My type is probably not one of the more favorable, as the tattoo was almost brand new when I began treatments, and it is mostly line work which is also more difficult to remove. I've still seen significant fading so far, although it will probably take many more treatments than was initially quoted in my consultation. I have to say, it hasn't been a pain-free experience, but they have numbing injections and a cold air blower which helps a lot. It's so worth it. The staff are all extremely friendly, I can't say enough good things about everyone that works there. Sent in an email for a consultation and received a response within an hour confirming my date. When I showed up to their facility the staff were are professional and welcoming. Within 10 minutes I had my paperwork filled and had my consult (I've had laser tattoo removal done at another site years ago) UnTattooU has been such a better experience (No forcing you purchase x amount of procedures) pay as you go. The procedure hurt just as much as I remember but it goes so fast the cold air machine did help. The technician discussed aftercare and to call if I had any issues. They also followed up a few days later to check in on me which was very nice. I highly recommend them. If you need lidocaine injections they do offer that. This really should have been 5 stars but parking is not the easiest at this location. But staff and results are top notch. read more

I've had 4 sessions of PicoSure on 3 tattoos through UnTattooU in Vienna. My first 2 sessions were with a nurse who was nice but she's no Hillary. I've had the numbing injections through all of my sessions. I highly recommend Hillary if you're going to do that. I don't want to say the first nurse I had was careless because she wasn't, she just didn't take the time like Hillary did. She is also much more of a people person. And as a complete introvert she even made me feel 100% comfortable. She has a ton of knowledge about the lasers and answers anything you ask her. I can't say enough good things about her. The front desk staff is also very friendly and they want to know how your progress is going. No one in this place is judgmental about what you want removed or what drunken mistake got it there. UnTattoU is the third place I have gone to remove my ankle tattoo from my crazy, misbegotten youth! Like the old saying, third time is the charm, so is UnTattooU. The first place I went to have my tattoo removed burned my ankle so badly, I could barely walk or put pressure on my foot. I got a blister that was half the size of my actual ankle.
