The staff here are so amazing! Really a great job representing the Marriot brand. The coffee shop was good, fast service and decent hotel coffee. My room was clean although the bathroom was a bit dirty. Good heat/ac that worked very well. The lamps and furniture was very 1990. I was in town for work and they switched our usual hotel out for this one. Let's just say I was more than pleased. From the superb customer services at the front desk, to the excellent breakfast bar at the restaurant, to the comforting stay provided in the room, I was glad this is where our host organization chose for us to stay. I will be returning to this location again on my next work travel. This was also the perfect location as much of my business included statehouse meetings, so the walking distance was not difficult at all and was quite reasonable. read more

We had a very good experience here. I saw all the negative reviews on Yelp but I have no complaints. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby, which includes a separate dining room and a fireplace/lounge area, was very clean and attractive. Our room was good-sized. The view sucked but I forgot to ask for a whitewater ocean view. The television was as large as a movie screen. The only negative was the sliding barn door for the bathroom. It came off the rails once (but was promptly repaired by the hotel) but why oh why do hotels use a sliding door for the bathroom? Maybe there is a safety concern with real bathroom doors with locks but no one wants these silly sliders. The bed was comfy and there was also a couch and sitting area. The downtown location of the hotel is great. It is about a five minute walk to the Capitol and there are multiple coffee houses within easy walking distance. The arena district is just over a 10 minute walk away, too. During our stay, this hotel was also slightly and surprisingly cheaper than the nearby Drury, which isn't quite as nice but does offer perks like their "Kickback" happy hour and popcorn machine, etc. I like the Drury but I gave up the extra calories for a slightly lower price and higher quality rooms. Stayed for a long weekend over Memorial Day. Located downtown. Decent location. It's $45/day for valet parking. We are in the 1107 room. It's an old room. The room smells musty of old smoke before rooms were made to be smoke free. It's going to take some days to adjust to the mustiness and antiquated stench in this room. It's a small room, but it's got a king bed. The pillows are a bit flat and have no form. It's one a few nights and days. The bed is big, but it's not comfortable, it's super bouncy and you can feel every move of your bed mate and I mean every move. The bedding is super light. No extra blankets in the room as I would have expected. The pillows are lumpy too. The first night of sleep was rough, the prior guests had set an alarm and it wasn't shut off for 6AM. No sleeping in for us. Maybe as part of the cleaning; the staff could make sure alarms are shut off for the next guests? The air in this hotel is worse than ever. I was fine late night, but the poor air and the stale musty smells in the room makes my lungs and breathing clean air impossible. This place definitely could do with clean air filters in their hotel rooms. My sinuses were bad the entire time while in the hotel room from the dust, mold and mildew. One other thing would be their incense used in the lobby, it's quite strong, maybe there don't have to run it every day, as it feels like they are trying really hard to mask a smell bad that they go over the top with out? The bathroom drain is slow to clogged. Room and parking $730. Had little to no interaction beyond our check-in and check-out, more interfaced with the valet staff every day. read more

Came here to stay for a mini vacation in Columbus. For one the parking will cost you about $45 a night through valet. Check in was easy and this is a very nice hotel. Clean comfortable modern nice looking room. Only thing for me was the toilet area was really small. They do have a 4th floor rooftop swimming pool and hot tub with lounge area, cornhole, and a mini bar area (although it closed early meaning I had to go down stairs to get drinks). Good drinks with a good happy hour and overall a beautiful hotel that I would stay at again. read more

Bit too expensive for what you get, honestly. Used one of my nightly upgrades for a suite, but had quite a few issues with the room -- ceiling tile in the bathroom was loose and barely hanging on, outlet covers were loose, the transition piece on the carpet came up (with nails poking out,) door to the bathroom was off its track. Nothing life changing by any means, but for the price I expected more. Others have mentioned, but it's worth calling out - these toilets are very low to the ground. I thought I missed, a few times. Terrible experience. I was traveling alone for business and was woken up at 5am by a loud knock on the door. I assumed it was a mistake and tried to go back to sleep--until someone opened my door and started to enter. They said, "I was told nobody would be in the room." Stayed here for a work convention. The rooms have been face-lifted but it just wasn't my jam. -Dated, dark, oversized furniture -temp controls and water temp were extreme (either really hot or really cold) -Not a fan of the large fabric covered headboards. I didn't want to put my head on it and would have felt better if it was leather. - I felt cramped in my room (it was just me), and the wallpaper in the bathroom scared me when I first entered my room. Why are there ppl with 3D glasses on in my bathroom? - The toilet was oddly low to the ground and the industrial flusher is oddly high. I just don't get it. - the light in my lighted vanity mirror didn't work and the light switch in the bathroom was crooked on the wall. Just a few of these things are acceptable but all of these things together made for an experience that will make me choose differently next time. It's not bad, just not comfortable. Beware if you book meetings at the Renaissance! I've planned and attended meetings at the Renaissance for nearly ten years, last year 2024, a decline in service was noticeable with Amanda Decker, as my catering contact. She was unresponsive, unprofessional, and lacks the capacity to perform the duties of her position. Amanda is the walking, living, and breathing epitome of incompetence at its finest. This year (2025) was more of the same. Dessa Forte caused unnecessary disruptions and stress by changing room assignments last-minute via email at 11pm on Saturday before the start of the Monday meeting. Meeting materials shipped and waiting at the hotel are now useless. However, there are some individuals I do wish to commend on their service. My interactions with them were the highlight of my stay at the Renaissance. Andrew at checkin, was warm friendly and inviting., Encore AV (Michael, Sam, Coleton) kept things running smoothly, and Thankfully, the banquet team--Ernie, Yohannes and Siti--excelled, making it a pleasure to work with them. Sherry Speaks in sales has always been consistently supportive, attentive, and professional. I met Kevin Egan during breakfast on my last day, let me tell you, this man does customer service extremely well. The catering department, however, clearly needs a complete overhaul. Great customer service and healthy relationships are critical in hospitality, and sadly, only a handful of Renaissance employees still deliver it. read more

Hotel is nice, and if I had to stay here again, I would. Check-in was fairly easy. I arrived earlier than anticipated and was a little worried that rooms would be unavailable. To my surprise, a room was available - albeit two queens instead of a king - but that was no issue. The room was spacious, clean, and updated. The bathroom was quite large as well. I opted for no housekeeping. This is because if you are a BonVoy rewards member, Marriott will credit you 500 points in lieu of housekeeping. That was a plus for me! Lastly, in terms of dining, the hotel is about .5 - 1 mile away from Short North - which is a strip of shops and restaurants. Starbucks is also directly across the street. I loved this hotel. From check in to check out the staff was outstanding. The room was very nice and comfortable. If I am going to be critical about anything, I would say that $30 a day is a bit steep in my opinion for parking, and if I go to a bar in a high-end hotel, I would like to be served a beer in a glass not plastic. These are both just personal opinions however. I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to everyone. read more

As travel and hotels go, this experience at a Renaissance was one of the lower ones. I found the staff to be discombobulated and somewhat apathetic about requests communicated to them. I found a little things and details that showed a lack of care among the hotel staff. Such as a lost shipment that I had a tracking in confirmation number for and yet they managed to loose it. This hotel looks like it could be nice, but it lacks a little of the extra things that would make it nice. It's the peak of summer, but the pool area looks closed with furniture stacked and dead bushes. Our room is missing cushions and a hair drier in comparison to other rooms. And this is my personal peeve: the fan is not operational in the bathroom. This is just unacceptable to me in a downtown, small, sealed room. This part of town really doesn't have a good vibe and it would be nice if the hotel was hospitable to four-legged friends. They have plenty of room to do more than they do. I was kinda disappointed with my stay here. To start with our room only had 2 bath towels to start with and we had clearly booked a room for 2 guests. Since when is 1 hotel bath towel enough for a person. We had to call down for more. There was a bathrobe provided but it was a super weird wooly material and they brought us another that was completely different and was missing the ties. Our neighbors were extremely noisy and woke me up several times each night plus there was a mini fridge in the room that for some reason ran extremely loud. The room itself had a weird set up where the bathroom and closet shared one sliding door and only one could be closed at a time. There was no tub. I would have loved to been able to enjoy their hot tub but their pool and hot tub are outdoors and closed for the winter. There was weirdly a sauna just off the side of the gym to be shared with men and women. I don't know if it actually worked as its position was a little more public than I was comfortable. I did use their gym a couple times. It was adequate but their fancy machines with TVs didn't get all the channels that the hotel did so I was pretty annoyed by that. They advertised a Buckeye themed breakfast but it seemed to be the pretty standard Marriott buffet. Our server the first morning didn't seem too aware of what was included with out buffet voucher and tried to upcharge us for an omelette. The one thing I did appreciate about this hotel is that hey had umbrellas for guests and they weren't those giant ones so we were easily able to take them to the stadium with us. read more

The Renaissance was a great vacation hotel and was located within walking distance of many interesting places such as across the street from the OH Statehouse and about a mile from the Short North neighborhood. The rooftop pool is on the 4th floor. It is outside and there is a large hot tub as well. The hot tub had to be about 7 feet in diameter and the jets were very powerful even stirring up the center of the tub. There are towels provided. There are plenty of cushioned chaise lounges surrounding the pool as well as couch seating by fire pits. There was a server roaming the roof deck taking food and drink orders which was a nice value add. The gym was also nice. There were cardio machines as well as many core and functional training items. There were dumbbells and a cable machine. Water, fruit and towels were provided and there was a sauna. The room was nice. 1717 had a city view. The bathroom was spacious. The walk in shower had great water pressure. There were no toiletries provided though other than bar soap - not sure if that was a housekeeping miss or a hotel policy. The bed was comfy and there were plenty of plugs around the room. There was a comfy desk chair as well and large working space. All in all a good hotel experience. Without exaggeration, one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at in the world. I want to be understanding and tolerant given what we are all going through, and especially the hospitality industry, but this is beyond the pale and beyond unacceptable across the board. This feels like a terrible hotel in New York where you overpaid and didn't expect much, but hey you're staying in the heart of Manhattan...except it's a mid-tier Marriott brand in the capitol of Ohio. Pros: The room is large. The elevators are fast. Cons: Everything else. The room is dirty, including stains on carpet and in bathroom. The doors all slam shut loudly throughout the day and night. The lobby is pumping party music all day. The "restaurant" is only open for breakfast. The "bar" is open in the evening and had a kiddie menu (albeit the chicken tenders are edible). Rooms are not cleaned unless you stay past 7 days -- unless you ask, and even then poorly. The cleaning staff walk the halls yelling to each other all day (just try working from your room). The "bar" staff stand together talking and will take 15 minutes or more to notice you even if you're one of two people in the "bar". The hotel allowed children to check into a room next to mine without adults and they are having what sounds like a really rowdy and fun (if I was 13 and not in work travel) party. I'm a usually loyal Bonvoy member. Never have I had an experience that makes me completely consider leaving the entire brand. This trip is doing just that. Do not stay here. My favorite hotel in Downtown Columbus, the staffs are very nice, helpful and attentive. The rooms they have are pretty good size, very clean, with a nice view of the city and inside you can find the normal stuff that you find in any hotel. If you are a gold member of Marriot you have access to the Longue on the last floor, in this room, the hotel has a nice party hour that includes some drinks and appetizer from 5-730 PM. They also server breakfast in that same room and you also have access to the room until 10 PM with you can have a chat with friends while you are watching any game or TV. You also can find a good bar and restaurant inside of the hotel Latitude 41 and Bar 41 with have good deals. In the Renaissance, you can find an outside pool and Jacuzzi too bad they are closed in wintertime, next to the pool you can find a nice fitness room that is open 24/7 with has a good selection of cardio equipment and few weights. Another great stuff about this hotel that is located in the heart of Downtown with make it closed to bars, restaurants, the Short North and The Ohio State University. read more

I have to say that this hotel is just dated. It is clear they have attempted to freshen it up, but you can still feel the age in the exterior/interior of the facility. While they have installed nice televisions and made over part of the bathroom the ceiling in the shower area was stained and peeling. The hotel just felt old to me. Overall the staff was friendly. I have to say one huge watchout is that if your spouse books your room on one of these new prepaid nights the hotels are using to squeeze more revenue out of you and is not with you there may be a problem. My daughter and I were trying to check in and since my wife booked the room online we had to call her and have her speak to the front desk person. While it was not an issue because she was available what if she would not have been. The hotels are playing by the airline playbook to squeeze more revenue out of you. If you want the best rate you need to prepay. No more flexibility unless yo want to pay a higher rate. To be clear this is not just the Renaissance this is the entire industry. I would look at other options in the downtown Columbus area before staying here again. read more

This location is a good central location to many areas. The staff was professional and outgoing with an authentic approach. However, the facility itself is tired and in need of updating. The pool fell short in providing a welcoming environment as it is perched on the outside decking of the 4th floor, really nothing more than an in ground pool surrounded by a slab of concrete and insignificant seating sparsely populating the surrounding area. Bottled water was nowhere to be found and coffee service was not available after 9:00 AM creating and a significant gap in on site dinning availability as the restaurant did not open until 11:00~ In summary, the staff was great but too many deficiencies to overcome in the facility to warrant another stay. read more

Well the hotel rooms were nice we had an awful service experience. At the pool there were no chairs due to them being reserved by people who were not actually sitting at them. Next the elevator situation is unbearable. Only two elevators were working for the entire 21 floors. We waited over 30 minutes to get on an elevator after 4 came by completely full. We had to take the stairs, which are not labeled correctly for employees versus guests. When we arrived the employee on the phone was very dismissive and did not know how to instruct us to the parking garage. You $43 for valet parking and they give you information to text a number to have your car waiting for you and the number does not do anything. Overall would never stay there again. read more
