Honestly super clean! I checked in at 11pm because of flight delays; but there was someone at the front desk within a few minutes of my arrival and when I door dashed they even called my room to let me know it was there. My only qualm was I really stayed at Hampton because I love my breakfast waffles. One of the waffle machines was broken and the one that was working kept sticking the waffles; but again that's just a qualm because I was super hyped for breakfast. Overall breakfast was yummy! Checkout again was super easy and I was out in literally less than a minute! 10/10 would recommend and probably stay here again if I needed a hotel. read more

I hate to leave a bad review of any business but I am highly disappointed. I am a Honors member and I booked directly with the hotel. I was told that my Honors Member rate would be booked for the full stay. At check in, the reservation I made was not even for the correct number of nights. I booked for Wednesday thru Sunday but they only had my block of rooms for Wednesday and Thursday. We were told to come down and check out and check back in the following day. When we came down in the morning to take care of this, that front desk person said we should not have had to check in and check out and move rooms even though this is what we were told upon arrival. We then find out that our rate has gone from $187 to approximately $500 a night for the remaining stay. Of course we are shocked. We went to speak to the manager and he was not willing to meet us in the middle to find a solution. He gave us a hard no and said you won't find another hotel in this area for the remaining days. We found another hotel, three rooms left and did not stay and found other accommodations. I think there were enough issues with our reservations and being told a different story depending upon who we spoke with that the hotel. It is unfortunate that they seemed to not care to loose guests and two rooms. I am truly floored by the switch and bait and also that management/staff really seemed to not be bothered. We might only be 6 guests total but they just lost customers who that will never book with this hotel chain again. read more

Worst hospitality I have experienced at a Hilton chain! During my stay a person entered my room and woke me up, as I jumped out of bed yelling and chasing this person out of my room I called the front desk. The manager gave zero sympathy and or help to me. They tried to make them booking my room to another person somehow my fault! I will never return!! The restaurant is absolutely trash too!! I give it 5 stars simply for the kindness and friendliness of the people working here. We are here for a cheer comp and the place is overrun with teenage girls and families. The people at the front desk are overworked and overwhelmed, but they are still extremely friendly and manage to greet everyone as they come and go. They get people in and out too. Stayed at the Hampton across from the Columbus Convention Center for a recent volleyball tournament. I opted for the Hampton because it cost less than the Hilton. However, Hampton Inn is owned by Hilton and I still earned my reward points. There was no breakfast available, so I used Door Dash to order McDonald's delivery. When my daughter woke up, she had a hot McDonald's breakfast waiting for her. We ate and went to the volleyball tournament. I downloaded the Hilton app on my phone and checked in before we arrived at the hotel. I entered my preferences and I was able to pick my own room! How cool is that? I picked a room on the 5th floor that wasn't near the exits as a safety measure. I selected a room that overlooked a street leading to the North Market. Since the volleyball tournament started at 7:30 a.m., we need to be up by 6:30 a.m. so we could eat and get ready. We turned off the TV around 10:30 p.m. It was then that we noticed how loud it was outside the hotel. There were lots of cars and motorocycles with loud exhausts speeding down High Street. It's like there was a game going on where people compete to see how loud they can be by revving their engines. Totally annoying when you're trying to sleep! Oh, and then there was a verbal altercation amongst some apparently drunk people below our window. That was interesting. A little after midnight, the commotion died down. However, despite the comfortable bed and pillow, I didn't sleep well. Anyway, that's not the hotel's fault. I couldn't help but wonder which room I would've gotten had I let the receptionist choose a room for me. But I would've had to wait an hour in line to check in. I was comfortable with my choice, despite the noise. The room was really nice and it had a nice view. Using the app to check in and out is amazing. You can also use your phone to open you room door. Technology folks. I didn't have to speak to anyone at the hotel except for valet parking. I'd stay here again, but I'd pick a room that is not facing a noise street. read more

I came to Columbus from out of town for a concert and was on a strict time schedule, really counting on my 4 o'clock check-in time. I asked the front desk if I could at least get a refund for the $38 valet parking. They told me to call their manager. I tried calling, only to be put on hold for over 30 minutes. I've had two very positive stays at this Short North hotel and will probably have several more amazing stays thanks to their spot-on location across the street from the market and only a stone's throw from dozens upon dozens of shops and eateries in the neighorhood (personal favorites include Brassica and goat cheese cherry ice cream at Jeni's - - I know this is not a hidden gem, ya'll). Why even give the option to check-in a day early knowing that the rooms won't be ready? I always check-in so I can arrive and get into my room quickly. Today I arrive to a lobby full of people asking when their rooms will be ready. People have things to do when they arrive, people sometimes need to freshen up or get ready and now none of us can do that. As I type this my room is still not ready and I have to be at dinner in 25 minutes... awesome! Other than the horrible management, this hotel is in the perfect location. Beds sink under your torso area, & something was biting me all night. Bars, clubs, traffic and yelling drunk people very loud even though we were on 'the quiet side,' and despite it being a weeknight. The windows must be really thin or something, though of course they don't open. Strong smell of men's cologne in the room and especially on the night table, right where my face was, trying to sleep. No tissue in room. A/C extremely loud. Reservations agent incomprehensible. Front desk hung up on me three times. Gave poor, inaccurate directions and information about the area. Typically stay here 2X per year on biz or OSU game. Great location for restaurants and Convention Center. However, a 10-minute Uber ride or 40-minute walk to OSU. Clean and modern. Great staff - especially welcoming Clifford at front desk. Free breakfasts are typical "Hampton" - great coffee, juice, yogurt, and fruit. Take your chances with the "egg dish of the day" and mystery "meat". I was disappointed on this visit as maid never came one day and both the bathroom sink and showered barely drained (love standing in 6" of water while showering). Of course prices are jacked up on football weekends but after 17% tax the room was $330/night. I am going to search for an alternate on next visit. Valet was fast and friendly, but they don't offer self-parking. So, you have to pay $27/nt for parking. Front desk was friendly. Housekeeping was annoying. They knocked on our door at 945am and again at 1055am to say it was time to check out. We said, "No it's not. Your website says checkout is at noon." Breakfast was pretty good. Emma at the front desk is rude. I had a gut feeling I needed to check-out in person, but a snow storm was upon us and we had to get on the road. I called when we arrived home for an emailed receipt as I wasn't given one. I immediately saw an extra charge of $66 for "valet". When I asked Emma about it, I was told that the night manager put that charge on it and she didn't know why. Didn't offer to look into it, just brushed me off. 4 emails, 2 calls to the general manager (voicemails lefts and were never returned) and 8 days later, I called back to ask for the GM's direct supervisor. The GM himself, Matt, (the one ignoring VM's for a week) got on the line said it was a computer mistake and it would be refunded in the next day or so. To say I'm highly disappointed in a Hilton brand hotel is an understatement. read more

Parking nightmare, room cleaning, & late night shenanigans I prefer Hilton hotels and I am a Hilton Honors member. This is my second stay at this hotel. This trip I stayed 4 nights for work and my room was on the 4th (top) floor. The room and beds were comfortable. But you can expect late night shenanigans on Friday & Saturday night due to many bars within walking distance to the hotel. On Friday and Saturday night I had people yelling and laughing in the hallways at 3am. My room wasn't cleaned one day because someone left a Do Not Disturb sign on my door; however I didn't leave the sign on the door because I prefer my room to be cleaned daily. The next day I called the front desk and asked for my room to be cleaned. They said that they would give me a few days of free valet parking ($26/day); I was never compensated. Parking is a nightmare. The only choice available to customers is valet parking. You aren't allowed to park yourself--but the hotel should allow you to park yourself because the customer service is so bad. To get your car out of valet, you can text them--but this feature doesn't work. You can call from the phone in your room, or the front desk can call for you; but you can't call them directly from your cell phone. I needed my car each day and it took them on average anywhere from 20-45 minutes to retrieve it. Now no one else was waiting for them to get other cars. One morning I called at 7am and gave them a specific time I needed it (0730) and I stood outside waiting for it and they still didn't have the car out before 0745. read more

I think, by this point, I've managed to stay at pretty much every hotel along the High Street strip near the Greater Columbus Convention Center. After going to the Origins Game Fair for over a decade now, we've bounced around from the Hyatt to the Hilton, from the Drury and the Crowne Plaza, to the Red Roof and the Renaissance. But, up until this past show, I'd only spent one night at the Hampton--a single evening when we needed some overflow prior to a show start. However, that night made quite the impression on me--the bed was comfy, the room sizable, and the breakfast quality. As such, when time rolled around for the Origins hotel block this past year, I knew that the Hampton would be within my crosshairs. Coming in on Tuesday and staying through Sunday, I found myself on the 7th floor, just overlooking the North Market and the various other restaurants just off of High Street. Our king-sized room was well-tended and comfortable, with a nice blend of pillows and a spacious area in which to move. I was a bit confused by the lack of traditional drawers, though the baskets found in the tv stand/chest of drawers held all of my clothing with ease. The complimentary breakfast offered at the Hampton is well-made and filling, with a number of hot options which change daily. This was quite the far cry from the Red Roof, whose options were quite disappointing. I really have few complaints at all about the Hampton. I did have a slight issue with the toilet--it kept running and running, until I realized that the flush-handle had not raised the whole way, which left the internal mechanisms open and attempting flush for quite a while. However, that was a swift fix--a quick raise on the handle shut the toilet off immediately. In addition, I would have preferred a tub/shower combo, our room had only the shower. That said, the shower was spacious and enjoyable, with great pressure on the shower head. The staff at the Hampton were amiable and welcoming; one particularly jovial African-American gentleman made it a point of greeting everyone warmly and engaging in conversation at any opportunity. When I requested extra towels one evening, I received them within seconds, despite the late hour. Great customer service, to be sure. Right now, the only thing that keeps the Hampton from overtaking the Drury in my Columbus-area hotel preferences is the Drury's signature cocktail hour. But, that said, I'll absolutely be looking for a room at the Hampton again for next year's Origins Game Fair. read more

So disappointed. Unwilling to waive the cancellation fee for a room booked months ago (PRE CORONAVIRUS and Ohio State of emergency). They are hemorrhaging rooms and I can understand that. Their prices have also declined. I am NOT willing to travel right now due to all of the current Pandemic concerns & the first case hitting within 12 miles of us but My family decided they'd still keep the reservation If this property would match the price per room that they currently have. They were unwilling to match that price or cancel without standard penalties. I'll make sure everyone is aware of this property's concern for profit over the health and understanding of the current situation in Ohio. Im beyond disappointed considering the Marriott property cancelled a similar stay without any trouble. I'm going to notify the BBB and any other outlet I can at this point. I've already escalated to Hilton. Extremely unnerving, and I'm a capitalist. But a realist first. Will never stay at a Hilton property again due to the conversations UPDATE: This property was slow to react (sounds to me like lack of communication from Hilton Hotels Corp) but they did cancel my reservation without a cancellation fee. This property is lovely. I should give it 5 stars for the staff and quality of the rooms. We chose it because the price was $160 a night. I am a Hilton Honors member. The same hotel near the highway was $224. So we drove 17 miles out of our way to save almost $70. Unfortunately, what they don't tell you when you make the reservation is that there is NO parking. You are FORCED to valet park which is $33 plus a tip at drop off and pick up and often a long wait to get your car since they park it a distance away unless you demand parking under the hotel. With that said, the staff was amazing. They are friendly and helpful.I want to shout out to Roxy who ran over to Ruth Chris and made our reservations. Then when we realized that they put us in a no bathtub room when we requested one, she personally found us one and moved our belongings. Then she found us at Ruth Chris and gave us a new key to the old room just so we could double check that we hasn't left anything behind. She is a Hampton Inn Superstar. Truly when these things happen, it makes me think of dropping my Hilton loyalty because I never can get to a reservation desk at the property. When you are at a reservation. center in Philippines they don't know there is a bathtub or if parking is going to cost you $40. There were several Hampton Inns and Hilton's in Columbus,, had we access to even one of there front desks, they could have directed us to the one best suited to our needs. Hilton should rethink their system. It is not user friendly or efficient. In fact, I believe it is counter productive. read more

Ok, I give 5 stars to the staff! They were incredible. Truly professional and friendly. I really enjoyed the taller gentleman that was always there to share a smile and laugh with anyone that walked through those doors. 5 stars for location. It's extremely convenient. Just across the street from the convention center and it's right in front of North Market which is truly a gem. If you're in town for business or pleasure, this is certainly the perfect area. So my biggest concern is the mold in the air conditioner and the smell inside the rooms. I knew there was something wrong the first night I was there because I started sneezing and coughing completely out of the blue. When I looked at the walls near the window, I noticed there was mold. When I opened the air conditioner, it was filled with mold. Several of my colleagues experienced the same thing and when they went to the front desk, their answer was "they're just dust bunnies." So at least they agreed on one thing, the room wasn't clean. Nothing was done and I'm assuming since most of the rooms were occupied, there were no other options that they gave us. I was really disappointed. Location is prime but the actual hotel needs some work to it. read more

Take me to High Street! (After a particularly blah stay at the Westin DT, I was smarter this trip and stayed in the Short North...much better!) LOCATION: First off, you cannot beat the location of this Hampton. A stone's throw from North Market...where any food item you might need (including Jeni's Ice cream!) lives. Right on High Street...where a bevy of shops, restaurants, bars and galleries perch themselves sweetly. Many entertainment options, and right across the street from the Convention Center. Location is exceptional, and made my stay absolutely lovely. BREKKIE: Hampton's are known for their complimentary hot breakfast, and it was standard, per usual. Hot coffee, tea and other morning beverages plus some hot egg and meat items, cereal, pastries, fruit and yogurt. Quite substantial, and a nice eat-in dining room to watch the news or skim USA Today. To-go cups for coffee, nice touch. Despite the Christian Bible Pre-teen conference that overwhelmed (assaulted!) my pre-9am senses...this was still quite enjoyable. STAFF: Very friendly, though I would've appreciated one thing upon checkout. I had asked them to look up my HH number so I could earn points for my stay...and she told me to call an 800#. Um, no. How about you help me with it and we get it sorted out right here and I leave feeling like you actually care about where I spend my money and sleep my head at night, mmmmk!? ROOM: Besides the frigid, old AC that blasted 24 hours a day and gave me a sore throat...the room was A-OK. 2 nicely sized rooms (a suite!), clean bathroom, etc. The comforter was decidedly....lumpy? Yes, lumpy. Weird, like they washed it and weren't supposed to and it got all weird. (Can you tell I've done this personally? Well, I have...oops). GYM: Very adequate! About 10 cardio machines, full weights, full range of medicine balls, mats and bench. Water cooler, included...and headphones. Very clean, and had a good workout after drinking 4 cups of coffee at breakfast. Price: $159/night (summer/midweek) for a 2-room suite. Valet: $21 (seems a bit absurd, but I didn't have a car, so eh) Overall, great for the location and price is reasonable...it's a standard hotel chain, and no real complaints. Believe it or not, this may have been my first stay at a Hampton Inn... and while it was A-OK (with the location being it's biggest perk), it didn't exceed my expectations. The positive: *a very adequate fitness room *a complimentary full breakfast buffet each morning (available from 6am - 10am) *free internet *pleasant front desk staff *awesome location in Short North! *the price (approximately $130 a night) The *not so positive*: -the odor in the room - not bad, but not great -the thin walls -the bed not amazingly comfortable and didn't necessarily feel like the cleanest bed I've slept in -housekeeping - they never came! Bottom line: if you're heading to Columbus and want to stay in the Short North area and you don't plan on spending a ton of time in your hotel room, this is a fabulous, affordable choice. If you prefer a hotel with nicer amenities and really want a good night's sleep, perhaps look elsewhere. read more

Great hotel for a 'downtown' Hampton. I have been to many Hampton Inns so I know what to expect. LOCATION: Short North. Directly across from the convention center. Walkable neighborhood - shops, bars, dining, parks. PARKING: Valet entrance on Spruce Street. Overnight valet parking $23/night (weekend). CHECK IN/ CHECK OUT: Bellman/Doorman was very friendly. Front Desk Associate was nice - checked us in quickly. Nice lobby, with a faux-dome ceiling, and a staircase. GUEST ROOM: Upon walk in the air was off and there was a tiny 'staleness' to the room, but once the air kicked in it was fine. The rooms are decent, spacious to share. The wallpaper was peeling in multiple parts of the room, though. The bathroom was a good size and had your standard amenities. Free WI-FI which had decent speed. ON THE HOUSE BREAKFAST: Free. 6a-10a. Breakfast hostess did a good job at keeping up with all of the traffic. Food is Hampton standard, hot items (omelettes, waffles), boxed cereal, yogurt, bagels, fruit), juice machine. I like that the breakfast lounge is on the 2nd floor and not on the same floor as the front desk. POOL & HOT TUB: Decently sized. Great thing is that if you do go for a swim there is guest laundry right outside the fitness center. Who wants to pack wet clothes? SOMETHING COOL: the cool part about this hotel is that when it went up, they wanted to preserve the 'historic' feel of the old building. so they took down the old facade brick by brick, built the hotel, and then reconstructed the facade to its original form again. All in all, our weekend stay was pleasant and if I ever had to come back to Columbus I would strongly consider (and recommend) the hotel. read more

Walking distance to Arena district, bars, food and the interior is well done. We've been upgraded to the Presidential Suite multiple times, the Hampton personnel really treat Hilton Honors guests great! We will ALWAYS stay here when we stay in Downtown Columbus! read more

The only negative I will say is that I can't give more than five stars. I absolutely love this hotel. We go every year for Origins Game Fair and their staff goes way beyond every time all the time. They talk to you like they have known you for years and are just delightful humans. It's located on High Street and North Market is a block away and other restaurants and bars are all over the place. It's an absolutely amazing location and the entire hotel and staff are just perfect. This year, I had a snag in plans and had to try to change my reservation. I knew full well that the hotel was booked and that asking for a cot was going to be difficult. But, front desk fixed it in a whole minute with no worry or stress. They made it so much easier on me and the people going with me which makes me really happy and takes a lot of stress off. They're always super clean, too. The entire experience is always perfect and I cannot recommend this as your one stop stay for visiting Columbus. Their continental breakfast is also delicious! read more

Well congratulations to hands down the worst Hampton Inn I have ever stayed at!! The place was dirty! The hotel was sold out and they were rude and after not being able to check in at :4:00, the check in time because our room was not cleaned, we returned at 6:00 and then got a dirty room!! Bathroom was dirty and obvious bedding was not hanged!!! Luckily we brought blankets and our own pillows and used those!! Tried to get towels and we had to ask at front desk! The breakfast was horrible!! They were out of eggs and poor selection!!The woman working the front desk was jut plan bitchy!! The one person who was pleasant and over worked was the parking valet! One person taking care of so many people both coming and going!! It was freezing out and the woman at the front desk wouldn't let people wait in the lobby area while waiting for their cars!!! Mind you, it was mostly moms and kids after a long day of competitions at the convention center across the street!! I really hope she is at minimum reprimanded or better yet removed from dealing with the people!!! read more

I've stayed here twice on business and I would return anytime. I really enjoyed Columbus, so, I hope to find myself back there again. My room faced the North Market and the Greater Columbus Convention Center and I thought this was a good spot. Guests on the other side of the building complained about hearing the church bells too often. I think the rooms were comfortable though with a desk, couch and good bed. Standup shower, no tub. The staff is very friendly and I like the free snacks available in the lobby. I thought that the included breakfasts were great, but obviously not gourmet. The gym and pool are fine by me, but towels by the pool are a bit small, and not exactly a spa-like lounge area. There are great restaurants, galleries, breweries, and shopping in this area, so its a great location. read more

Fantastic experience when we were at a convention in Columbus! The staff truly was welcoming, genuinely wanting us to enjoy our hotel experience. The bell person was especially joyful and brought a smile to our day! Right across from the convention center was very convenient, and next to north market, a trendy emporium for seafood, flowers, coffee, and ethnic food. Several restaurants are close, Barleys, an Irish pub , and Martinis Modern Italian, made it easy to entertain clients. The staff was so accommodating that they found wine glasses for me, even though Hamptons don't usually provide that level of service. The best Hampton in the country! I have been a Hilton Diamond for 7 years. I stay in hotels about 100 nights a year. I have stayed in a LOT of Hamptons and I know that they are the less expensive Hilton properties. But they are usually clean, comfortable and well located. My wife and I stayed here about a year ago and, as soon as we walked into the lobby, I asked "is this really a Hampton?" The lobby is gorgeous and the stairway is amazing. The lobby was decorated for Christmas and looked really good. Our stay was great and we went back a couple of times when we had early appointments at OSU medical center. Every stay had been top notch- the staff is responsive, friendly, and they really understand customer service. My wife and I are now coming once a month for a two night getaway (we only live 20 miles away) but we love the hotel so much and it is well located in the short north. I cannot say enough about Tiffany Clark- a front desk supervisor. Whenever we check in, she gives us big hugs and big smiles. Right away we know we are home. We will continue to come every month and luxuriate in the wonderful room and atmosphere. read more

My family stayed here last night as we're in town for a volleyball tournament. We have stayed at a lot of Hampton hotels and this is easily one of the nicest hotels we've stayed at in the chain. The hotel is located directly across the street from the convention center where the volleyball tournament is taking place. We paid a bit of a premium to stay here because all of the hotels around the convention center are sold out. But it was worth it. All we had to do was get up. Get ready. Eat the included breakfast on the second floor. Which includes scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereals, fruit, you make your own waffle, assorted juices and coffee or tea. It's a great spread. After the first game we went back to the hotel to check out. We were able to store our luggage which was a plus since our car is in valet parking. Clifford stored our bags and has to be the friendliest person I've ever met. He brought a smile to everyone he talked to. Such a great person. I highly recommend this location. We would stay here again. Next time we'll have to request a high floor as I overheard someone at breakfast say they were in a low floor and could hear the thumps at the bar outside their window and could see people dancing at the bar. We didn't experience that so a good tip would be a higher room if possible. read more

I70 location We booked this hotel because of location traveling back from Kansas City, and had good experiences with Hampton Inn . After arriving from 12 hours in a car, the Front desk checkin was great. Other than that, hotel was uninhabitable. Doors were off rooms and against walls in hallway. Rooms that had doors the numbers were held up with painters tape. The hallways floors were covered with tarps. There was a terrible chemical smell in hallways and rooms. Upon entering our room we saw a used Qtip on floor and trash in bathroom. Bathroom door had paint peeling off. Carpets needed to be vacuumed and comforters on bed were filthy. The room above us had the tv on high volume all night long. I have stayed at Hampton inns before and always thought they were a quality hotel. I was afraid to use sheets on bed not knowing if they were even clean. If we were not so tired and it was not so late, we would have left for another hotel. I don't think this hotel should have even charged us for staying there. It should have been shut down for renovations. read more

We are here for an Ohio Elections Conference. We usually stay at the Hilton, but booked late. Upon checking into the Hampton I was behind two other people. I noticed how nasty Tiffany was to those customers. As far as a stay, the hotel would have gotten a 5, but seeing how nasty Tiffany was I downgraded it to a 3. She is the face of the company, and definitely needs training in dealing with the public. When we got up to the desk we were being helped by another worker. We had tax exempt forms because we are a government entity. She was helping others, and crossed over to our side and told us that we could not use that without a corporate card. We have been doing this across the board, and never had this experience. She just got nastier as the conversation went on. So, we just told her that we would take it up with corporate. I can understand if you believe that something is a part of the process, but there is a way to disseminate that information. In talking to several other election workers, each one of them had a negative story about her. Clifford (the Bellman) was very helpful and has a very pleasant demeanor. read more

Nice property, but the customer service and front desk staff was lacking. We had no "do not disturb" sign in our room, so we were awoken not once, but twice by very loud housekeeping trying to enter our room. Later, when I asked the front desk person for a do not disturb sign she said, "You're checking out today." Yes, we are but someone else will be in that room, right?" She didn't care that we'd been disturbed; she never apologized. In fact, she seemed bothered I was even talking to her. This is a cute hotel. The front desk staff? Not nice. read more

Great location in downtown Columbus, located next to North Market and only steps away from Short North, Goodale Park, and the Arena District and Convention Center. They have a nice gym though the pool was under construction when we were there. The free breakfast offers lots of healthy, tasty options such as oatmeal, boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, and sausage and scrambled eggs. The rooms were clean and nice as well. Docking a star as they overcharged me and I had to call and have it corrected. read more
