As far as airport hotels, crowne plaza is a good choice. Connected to terminal 4. Clean. Standard rooms. More spacious than something you'd get in central London. The carpet and some furnishings can be dated, but the bathrooms are updated and everything looks clean. Bathrooms look updated, very meticulously clean. The food: the good news: we got in late, but luckily, they have a handful of dishes served 24/7. The food was decent, nothing special but nice. They deliver it to the room. Chicken club was good, and the chips were nice, though not super crispy. The bad news: I think the chicken wing portion was a bit small for $15. The bleu cheese wasn't great. I was charged 5 pounds for a "tray charge," which was confusing, because it's not listed on the menu and I certainly didn't need the tray. The spring rolls definitely have the frozen taste and just too sweet for me. They delivered two bottles of coke, but no bottle opener. We tried to open it ourselves on the side of the counter, and the glass broke, so just a bit frustrating. I called and they brought one right up, though, so lesson learned. (I just wish they'd been a bit kinder or even given an apology for the oversight as opposed to acting like we're asking for something extreme.) Overall, I'd recommend staying for sure. read more

Very easy to get to this hotel in Terminal 4. Check in was easy- they even upgraded my room to 2 twin beds since I was traveling with a friend. The room was small, but clean. The bedding was a duvet cover that I hope is laundered after each visit! The bathroom was very clean and I liked the walk in shower. The hotel provided complimentary bottle water. I arrived very late so I wasn't able to go to the main dining room which closes at 9:30 pm. The bar was pleasant, but I wouldn't recommend ordering the cheese platter since the cheeses IMO were not very tasty. I had to go to Terminal 2 for my flight to LAX, and the quickest way is the Tube. Just follow the signs to the train, and don't forget to tap your card when entering the tube or you will get charged about for the ride. read more

Never seen such rotten rooms! The first view inside the entry hall was nice; modern architecture and lots of things to do. The hotel offers a large pool + exhaustive gym. The small pub is as well not bad... What was really downgrading my rating is the old room; so many broken stuff: temperature selector for shower broken, toilet flush not working, toilet seat cover broken, and and and.... On top of that you will be charged 15£ for parking. In case all front side car boxes are full, you will have festival feeling and can park your car in the mud behind the hotel. I attempted to check into the Crown Plaza but the manager refused me service because I didn't look like I had money. He kicked me out of the hotel. My phone was dead so I was not able to get an Uber. I sat outside for about 2 hours until an Uber driver showed up. His ride cancelled so I asked him if he could bring me to any hotel. The manager told him not to help me because I had no money. Luckily the Uber driver ignored him & helped me. I had only been in England 1 day. I was a tourist from New York City. I tried contacting the company to file a complaint. I was ignored. As a black business woman, I wasn't expecting this kind of treatment in Europe. Apparently it is commonplace. Very sad this had to happen. Europeans always swear Americans are racist & that would never happen in their country. Simply ignoring me proves they see no value in having me as a customer. read more

More of the same here with the airport hotels. A little worn around the edges and showing its age, but a serviceable hotel for guests in town on business. The big upside is that the internet is free and there is late check-out if you are a member of their Priority Club. This hotel is also close enough to Heathrow to catch a local bus to the tube station for free which is convenient. The gym is dated and small but there is a decent amount of equipment, just don't hold your breath for treadmills with TVs on them. Also, there is a small pool which you can make use of. Check in was quick and very smooth and the hotel had 3 different options in case you didnt want to venture out. Our room was spacious and the bed was pretty comfortable. So sad, and so typical that a once excellent hotel has just lost it's shine. The place stinks of mildew from top to bottom. The lock on my door was bust and the remains left on the desk in my room. Safe broken. Air conditioning broken in July when it was 80 degrees outside. Carpet moldy outside my room. The staff are very friendly. This has always been our hotel of choice for the airport, but I think it's over between us, Crown Plaza. You need to comb your hair, tuck your shirt in, roll on some deodorant, and sort yourself out! read more

I have stayed at this hotel many times while traveling on business and usually for a week at a time, so this isn't based on a single night or stay. The bottom line is that if I had a choice, I'd stay at another hotel. The rooms are consistently dirty and the customer service is consistently poor. I just checked in today. Let me share with you my experience: I arrived at 7 pm. My room, which had been reserved for at least 3 months, was not ready. At 7 pm? By the way, there were others checking in at the same time experiencing the same thing. I get two free drinks at the bar for my trouble. Nobody assists with my luggage and there is no bellman in sight. After standing there waiting too long for somebody to assist me with my luggage so I can go to the bar to wait for my room to be ready, I ask to have my luggage locked in a storage room. I go to the bar and sit at a table in direct view of the bartender and in plain view of the waitress. After waiting too long for service, I order the two drinks. It turns out that they are for house wine, beer, or a soft drink only...so I order two beers. The bartender gets one of the two wrong. I go to my room. It's been cleaned but not very well at all. There is some substance smeared on the desk and there is a piece of garbage on the floor in the bathroom. I order room service. The food was delivered in a reasonable time and it was good but part of the order was wrong. There are no wash cloths in the room. I order one from housekeeping along with a few hangers (there were only two in the closet) and an extension cord because there are no power outlets near the nightstand. When the guy brings the hangers and extension cord, he doesn't have the wash cloth. When asked, he replies: "tomorrow." All in all, it's not what I expect elsewhere but it is typical of my experiences here. read more

Spent a night at the beginning and the end of a tour week trip to England here. Convenient to get to using the shuttle bus from the airport, and clean hotel. Air conditioning works in some rooms and not in others and staff readily admitted they have issues and book into not a/c rooms often. Staff at the front desk never seemed able to handle what was going on, but grateful for the manager to get up and out into the hotel when needed. Time to add another star because I've discovered how to make the most of the location when you don't have a car. Plus, as a Priority Club member, I now have access to their lounge, which isn't too shabby. When it comes to food, this hotel is still lacking in many ways. If you arrive late at night, the pub in the lobby closes fairly early (11p?), and the kitchen closes at 11p. You can go to the bar and order drinks, but you cannot pay by cash. You must charge them to your room. Room service is crazy expensive, so your best bet is to call and order a pizza. There are a handful of places that will deliver to the hotel, but beware: no one will deliver after 1am. To venture out (if you don't have a car): If you go out the back of the hotel and toward the Hotel Novotel, you will come across a road way. Turn right and walk towards a bus stop (be sure you are on the left side of the road). You'll take bus 222 to Uxbridge. There are plenty of stops along the route that have some cute looking pubs and restaurants, but at the very end of the bus route, there are two malls. The one we went to was The Chimes. To return back to the hotel from Uxbridge, take bus 222 towards Hounslow Station. The stop for the hotel is Cherry Lane Schools. Good luck and get out! read more

I've spent almost two months of my life in this hotel over the years. It's a perfectly serviceable hotel, with the following traits: If you're staying here, chances are you are going to Stockley Park. If so, on the plus side there is a free shuttle! On the minus side, it can get full, so it may not be reliable enough if you have early meetings. On the neutral side, you can also walk to stockley park, which is about a mile away, if you can predict the English weather. They've got a serviceable french restaurant and another traditional restaurant which also serves the English breakfast buffet. The buffet is the traditional British fare (softer scrambled eggs, cumberland sausages, mushrooms, tomato halves, omelette bar, smoked salmon, etc). They used to have Yakult but have switched to a more Western yogurt drink. Boo! The buffet, if not included in your room, is VERY pricey. Expense with care. There is also a bar/lounge area and a more traditional pub for enjoying football matches. The closer proximity to Stockley Park means this hotel is a bit further from Heathrow, so you don't have walking options to the restaurants surrounding Heathrow. You can take the Hotel Hoppa (4 quid last I checked) or figure out the free shuttles around Heathrow, for airport transportation. Taxis are also an option. read more

The Crown Plaza by LHR Airport is nice place to stay. The full size gym was nice and the front desk service was excellent. The lounge in the lobby provides a nice venue to hangout and meet people before catching a flight the next morning. It's easy access to any hotel by the LHR airport as the National Express Hotel Hoppa has many busses every 20 to 30 minutes from each terminal to each local hotel for 8 pounds round trip. Overall the hotel rooms provided a nice atmosphere to relax and get some work done. read more

Crown plaza in the US is usually upscale, not so much at this one. Pros: as IHG members, got an upgrade to 4th floor w, free club lounge and complimentary WiFi. -Room is well thought out, lots of electrical outlets including USB ports, European outlet, US outlet and even one in closet next to mirror for hair dryer. -Eriki Indian restaurant was very good meal and very clean. (That's not to say that the people changing baby's nappy in dining room wasn't quite unsavory!) Cons: Mattress so firm our backs and hips ache. -Shower knob was broken and maintenance came w part knowing full well the problem (don't know why housekeeping doesn't report issues so guests don't have to). -Front entrance, first impression had littered entryway. -Watched at least 8 servers at bfast buffet take away plates from tables, not a single one with cleaner and a cloth, we were seated by hostess at dirty table. Not eating in there again. -Still waiting for maintenance to figure why tv remote crashed. There's a Holiday Inn on Sipson Rd, very near here that we're thinking of switching to for the next 3 nights of our stay. read more

THE GOOD: THE ROOMS are absolutely beautiful with an extremely comfortable bed, nearby sitting area with table as well as a desk and chair. Honor bar fridge. In-room coffee and tea, and whisper-quiet central air/heating. The bathroom is quite lovely with beautifully appointed tile, luxurious towels, and quality shampoo and body wash. The removable massaging shower head is set especially high which makes for a more pleasant experience for taller guests. Automatically provided are some needed amenities such as hair dryer and not so commonly needed amenities like a trouser press are included. There is a flat screen TV with a good selection of programming. I cannot think of anything lacking in the room whatsoever. Really top notch. THE STAFF are the best I have ever encountered. Any question I had, they were able to answer. Any concerns we had were responded to with amazing professionalism and courtesy. EVERYONE we encountered was phenomenal but two are worth mentioning by name. First is Shaan, who checked us in. When she learned we were here for a special occasion, she arranged to have wine and chocolate sent to our room. Second is Matt, who is a manager of guest services. Matt really understands what it means to provide customer service and he truly seems to make it his mission to ensure all of his guests are taken care of. He is friendly, responsive, and he took great care of us. THE RESTAURANT called Orwell's is stunning. The service is top notch. The bone-in rib-eye-to-share was tender, juicy, and too big for us to finish. The sautéed mushrooms were seasoned perfectly. The chunky chips (think steak fries) were cripsy on the outside and fluffy on the in. And the strawberry cheesecake was so good we could have eaten five more. It was the best cheesecake we have ever eaten. THE CHALLENGES: THE WIFI INTERNET service is, at least currently, nothing special to write home about. In fact, if you're sending an email, it might take a bit of time for it to arrive using the hotel's existing WiFi service so perhaps sending a card via the postal service would be faster... OK perhaps I am exaggerating a bit here. The good news is that the Internet service is free as long as you are an IHG member. So, be sure to enroll in IHG before you arrive to save time. As an IHG you can upgrade your WiFi service for about $4 per day which you definitely should do if you plan on using Skype, FaceTime or Netflix. Matt, the guest services manager took pity on us and provided us with a few vouchers for the higher speed internet, but he also expressed his hope to provide this level service to everyone soon. THE SHUTTLE service (this is completely out of the control of the Crowne Plaza) is a terrible joke. An ordinance was passed that requires all airport area hotels use a third-party service for shuttle service. This service costs between 4 and 5 pounds per person each way. If you are flying in to Terminal 4, this shuttle (which runs every 30 minutes takes 30 minutes to deliver you to the Crowne Plaza (it stops at additional terminals and hotels, even if you are the only one aboard). My recommendation is that you take a taxi, which should be only about $13 pounds for your entire group. SUMMARY: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel. The few idiosyncrasies we encountered were hardly worth mentioning. The good DRAMATICALLY outweighed the bad. We would be honored to stay here again next time we visit London. read more

The coffee downstairs was fantastic. The rooms were quite and allowed me to get some sleep. The hotel is close to the airport to save time without having to be up hours in advance. This hotel is located some ways from Heathrow, and outside the free bus zone (but accessible on the Hoppa Bus route for £4.50). I actually just took the regular bus for £2, and the stop was about a 250m walk away. The rooms were small (as expected for this US-based traveler), but nicely appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, since the hotel building was set back from the road way, it was nice and quiet. I got this through Priceline, and while the hotel itself was nice the location left much to be desired, as there was nothing useful nearby. I wouldn't mind getting it again through bidding, but I don't think I would choose this hotel for myself. read more

As members of the IHG club and having stayed as a ' break away' before we have come back to this hotel. The more canny of spenders will know, that being a member of the IHG gives you very keen prices - we are currently gold elite, and a club room for two adults cost us just under £90.00, this gives us a very comfortable room access to the gym, pool etc - which are all very good. Free breakfast worth £14.00 each and access to the club lounge which has free drinks and nibbles. This is a relaxing bolt hole for parents to escape and allows us to relax and recharge. Crowne Plaza London Heathrow Hotel is an ideal base to explore Central London, Legoland Windsor, Ascot Racecourse, Wembley and Twickenham. This is a lovely hotel which boasts very clean, immaculate rooms. Most of the bedrooms have 2 double beds in each room and the choice is yours which one to sleep in. I find the Crowne Plaza very homely and the dining menu for the rooms is lovely if you want to rest after a busy day. There is a small bar area which is usually packed by 7pm but the atmosphere is very nice and intimate and the drinks are all served in lovely glasses and you feel like you are in a good quality wine bar. I would recommend this hotel as a very good 3/4 star. The food/breakfast is fantastic with plenty of choice for help yourself or a full cooked menu. This hotel makes for a very enjoyable stay. It really is only 5 mins drive from Heathrow airport and there is a shuttle bus running back and forth which costs around £2 each way. I would certainly book this hotel if I wanted to start my holiday in comfort prior to my flight from Heathrow. read more

There are a few different options for food in the hotel- a cafeteria situation, a pub and room service of course. I would stay here again on a layover but not for more than a night or two! read more

After spending two weeks in Europe, my family and I had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in London. I want to start off with the positives first as they are very short and limited. 1) The initial impression of the hotel is nice as the lobby is tasteful and updated. 2) You have access to the pool and hot tubs, which the kids enjoyed. 3) Edgar at Guest Services was very helpful in helping plus out of a bind. Now where to start on the bad! 1) The rooms are very outdated and smell very musty and like smoke (even though the rooms are "non-smoking"). 2) The beds are like laying on plywood with a little bit of padding on top. 3) The pillows are lumpy, hard and very uncomfortable. My 9 year old, who often sleeps on the floor with no pillow, complained how lumpy and uncomfortable the pillows were. He ended up sleeping on his plane pillow. 4) The air conditioning doesn't work AT ALL. I asked Guest Services to look at it and they said they would send someone to look at it - that person never came. There is no circulation in the rooms whatsoever. 5) I asked them to bring a portable fan, which they delivered, but which tried to explode upon startup from wobbling and bouncing around the table. 6) Loud base music playing all night, which Guest Services did nothing about. 7) The food (at least pub food) was the worst I experienced in my two weeks in Europe...and I accidentally ordered (in Sweden) a seafood salad wrap that had mashed potatoes and a hot dog down the middle. Needless to say, we did not enjoy our stay and would never stay here again. read more

I was flying out of Heathrow on an early flight, so I booked a room with the Crowne Plaza for the night before because it was close to the airport and prices were good. The check-in process was painless and the staff was helpful and kind. The lobby was clean and modern. The rooms are 1/2 smoking and 1/2 non-smoking. My room thankfully didn't smell like cigarettes, but other people in my party weren't so lucky. There is complementary WIFI in the lobby as well as the rooms, with options to upgrade. Beds were soft and comfortable. Clean bathroom with clear instructions on how to use the showers. I appreciated the electric kettle in my room for tea, and the mini-fridge. There is a bar and 2 restaurants within the actual hotel. The bar is open 24x7 (great I guess if you're jetlagged) as well as a built in Starbucks. I ate at the bar both for lunch and the night before I left and had a proper pour of Stella as well as a traditional english slab of food - pork pie, scotch egg, etc. It was all very delicious and the beer helped ease my nerves. My lunch meal of the vegetarian club sandwich was also spot on. My only comment is that the wait staff is hit or miss. Our lunch server was foreign and there was some mild miscommunication, where our dinner server was on-point! We did eat breakfast in one of the other restaurants and the buffet is excellent. A proper English breakfast is offered, as well as food to order on the menu. Fabulous food! Finally - there is a small store within the hotel for last minute amenities! There is easy access to cabs and the Hotel Hoppa to and from the airport. I had a great visit and it was a great hotel. I highly recommend it for short stays near the hotel. It's a bit far from any shopping, but about an hour trip (with busses and underground) into Central London (Piccadilly). read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The manager Achraf Khoukih is beyond rude. My credit card was authorized THREE times instead of one. I only stayed here from a layover to go to Windsor Castle. My plans were completely ruined because I spent over 3-4 hours at the front desk trying to get them to acknowledge that my card was charged. Even though I called my bank and my bank told them that it was authorized three times, they refused to fix it. Then Mr Khoukih started yelling at me because he was getting frustrated and said that he felt like I was saying that he was a thief. Really? It's my money that is gone. Then he walked away from me with an attitude. BEWARE! Do not give them more than one credit card and do not need customer service. Also they took my money for breakfast when I checked in. The manager told me that breakfast was over at 11 am. When I came down at 10:30 am the host told me that breakfast was over at 10 am. Now I am starving and out of money. Very busy location lots of changes and renovations. Staff; checkin was pleasant the lobby is always busy but staff stays professional. At first glance you think your in the middle of nowhere but a short walk off property and your eating with and like a local. On grounds there is a new Indian restaurant with a great staff looking to please your taste buds. There is a pub, get all your rugby and football fills oh and a pint or two. The pool area is all new and well kept. Gym is small and needs updating but useful. The rooms and facility are kept very clean that's awesome considering just how busy the hotel is, great staff. There is a dinning room and cocktail lounge for quiet sitting and dinning. I would give it another star for a better gym and outdoor curve appeal. read more

The room was beautiful, modern and clean. The bathroom did have the strong odor of cleaning fluid, very unpleasant. Someone in another review mentioned the smell of mold and/or ozone in the hallway. I noticed the same, but it wasn't overwhelming. My MAJOR COMPLAINT was that I called for a wake up call on my first night and they didn't call in the a.m. making me late to meet my colleagues and unable to properly prepare for the day. The next night the same thing happened but luckily I had one of my colleagues call and wake me. It was very unprofessional and they didn't seem to take it as seriously as I did. I was very surprised at this last of professionalism. To add insult to injury guest services was very slow in answering the phone, no word of a lie I let it ring 20 times before someone answered. The restaurants are hotel quality. By that I mean that will fill you stomach but there's so much around that it isn't worth staying in. The WIFI is free and falls into the old adage you get what you pay for. All in all the location is great but the lack of service is concerning. Bring your own alarm as there isn't a clock in the room to set and the staff evidently doesn't appreciate the need for people to get up on time. read more

Wonderful hotel to stay near Heathrow. One of the few hotels near Heathrow with rooms which are big. The staff at the front desk is friendly. Well connected to Heathrow - you have the Hoppa Bus every 20 mins. Tried the Eriki Indian Restaurant inside. Wonderful food - but has some funny security check before they let you dine inside. We had a bad experience with a waitress there - she litterally pulled our plates when we were dining there. Overall a great hotel to stay in, friendly staff and the good food in Eriki. read more

After travelling over Europe, it was nice to have a full-size room. We had two double beds and got breakfast with our package. We stayed three nights. The beds were very comfortable, and we slept well each night. The bathroom s large enough and includes a tub. Hot water was sufficient and the pressure was good. The room was clean. It included a desk, with chair; two other chairs and one foot stool. Tv is a good size. Comes with fridge for keeping food and drink - small but handy for staying multiple nights. Room comes with a safe included. I was surprised by the size. I was able t keep my camera inside with laptop, lenses and a few other things. The hotel offers a pool with steam room, sauna, two small pools, a wading pool for toddlers and a good size pool. The weight room is also a good size. There is also a nice equipped children play room. There is a bus shut service to and from Heathrow. I recommend this. We used the taxi service - very good, professional and helpful. However, these guys often wait several hours to pick up someone and a short ride to the hotel only nets them 25 pounds. The bus is 5 pounds per adult. We also needed a taxi, the hotel took care of this for us. The breakfast was a full breakfast: crumbled eggs, fried eggs, ham bacon, blood pudding, potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, cereals, fruit, porridge, breads, yogurt, and so on. Its very busy so there is a lot of turnover and everything is fresh. Wifi is free and allowed us to connect three devices. After that, must pay. The bandwidth is only about .5 to 1MB, but sufficient for browsing, not for video. Staff were excellent and helpful. read more

The police are constantly talking to the management about increased security but as yet (July 2011) there does not appear to be a decline. The latest statistics show an increase in the area of theft from vehicle has risen by over 300% and I'm not talking about 1 or 2 cars either we are talking double figures. WORST customer service I have ever experienced in any of my travels anywhere in the world. We stayed at this hotel for a grand total of six hours, to sleep before an early flight. Upon returning home we looked at our credit card bill and found they had charged us hundreds of pounds' worth of breakfasts, dinners, bar drinks etc that we obviously didn't have time to consume. Our card had either been defrauded or someone charged all that stuff to the wrong tab. But the staff members AND the hotel manager AND IHG, the parent company, ALL insisted we must be mistaken and we must have forgotten that we purchased all those items. Deplorable and frankly, very scary customer service as they are clearly trying to take advantage of their clients. In the end I had to rely on VISA to sort out the matter as Crowne Plaza absolutely refused to help. Beware -- there are tons of other airport hotels and I would be very cautious about entrusting this one with my credit card. read more
