I'm not sure how this is the first time I've ever been to this park. It's gorgeous and massive!!! There's several different frields for various sports, a skate park and a dog park and some open fields to lounge in. I really loved my time with friends here. We also checked out the dog part and it was huge too. There's sooooo much space for dogs to run. My dog ran his lil heart out and had a blast. There seemed to be plenty of parking too, but we came at a non busy time so I wonder how it looks on a busy weekend. I loved my time here!! read more

A nice, easy trail filled with scenic bridges, rivers, trees, trails and wildlife. The trail is so green, and lush, and has ample parking. It's good for families, pets and solo hikers, and connects to the actual park. read more

Great time at the park and an amazing skate session. Highly recommend this spot for intermediate skaters. It's a perfect all-day hangout with beach volleyball, hiking trails, and disc golf. Everything is free. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Another weekend, hike at Renaissance Park in Charlotte. The trails were not marked well it was very muddy and very slippery but by the same token, it was very enjoyable several different surfaces to walk on many little bridges across. read more

This large park is closest to my home and is underneath the final approach to CLT's runway 36R. So you might see me and you'll definitely see planes overhead. The park includes a separate golf course and a separate tennus center. There are also two softball fields (not available for practice), nine sand volleyball courts and a series of bike trails. This highlight of the park is an 18 hole championship disc golf course. Lots of parking and a few spots in the shade. A couple of picnic tables are scattered about and that was where I sat today with my takeout lunch to enjoy some "al fresco dining" before continuing on my errands and exploration. i'm just grumpy because there's nowhere to relax here. i get suckered into coming here every other month because it's close and pretty. but then I remember that... frisbee golf takes over every open area - so don't get too comfy on the grass or on a bench, you'll be asked to move and/or get hit in the head with a disc. the large area, to the left when you enter, could be a decent place to chill except its filled with dog brownies and there are no trees so its direct, flaming sun. overall, its such a great area -- so green! but it's really only meant for people who are engaged in an activity, namely frisbee golf and skateboarding. if you're not doing one of those things, it's best you stay in your parked car and look out the window. read more

This park is near wear I work so I thought it be a perfect place to unwind after a less than stellar day at work. I enjoy the outdoors and have been taking advantage of the parks in my area. Upon arrival, I noticed ample parking, a ton of tennis courts (13 to be exact), and even several beach volleyball nets. Something else caught my eye. It was a sign that warned of break-ins and not to leave valuables in your vehicle. Not unusual for a park. However, while reading this sign, I noticed a police vehicle exit the park. Prior to leaving we saw the same police vehicle circle once more. This left me with the impression break-ins are a common appearance here. We headed to the restrooms and information kisok. Discovered that they have disc golf and biking trails too! Retrieved a map of the trails and headed to the softball field trail. As we searched and searched for the entrance, we did not find a softball field so we tried the tennis court trail. Did not find the entrance to that either. We ventured through part of the disc playing area thinking it would lead to a trail entrance. FRUSTRATED at this point and walking nearly a mile not finding a trail head was ridiculous. Turning the map round and round trying to get our bearings, we FINALLY discovered a trail through the brush. So we weaved through and hopped on the Trailblazer Trek (?), which is a bike trail. At this point, I thought "who cares" and we continued. We emerged from a 2.5 mile hike to what appeared to be the other side of the park. And, Eureka! we found the softball field, even better, the map now made sense. Based on our Map My Walk app we were not sure how to get back to our vehicle so we decided to walk along Tyvola and re-entered the park using the vehicle entrance. I have never had a hiking experience quite like this. And I have had my fair share of hiking in Hawaii (to include Kalaupapa), Texas, and Charlotte. So, a hike that was intended to provide stress relief turned into a very irritating and discombobulating experience. On the plus side, we got 3.5 miles of exercise and discovered they have tennis and beach volleyball courts, if that's your thing. Good Luck in finding your way! read more

Fantastic trail running. The running trails have one ~4 mile loop and another ~6 mile loop. Lots of up-and-down hills (which makes it a good spot for mountain biking as well). I stumbled across a few disc golf courses while I was there and they seemed pretty well set up (me + frisbee = no.). Safe, clean and a decent amount of parking. Softball/baseball fields and tennis courts are offset on opposite sides of the park. This is totally my new running spot to frequent. read more

Large and we'll maintained park with various things to do. They have tennis courts, baseball, disc frisbee area and running trails. I came from out of town looking for the running trails. This park can be a bit confusing. There are two entrances, I went through the first one and saw the tennis courts. I walked around but could not find any information on the trails or where they began. Walked along the trees but saw no trail head. Drove to the other entrance, which is where the baseball fields are, finally I saw an entrance for one but I wasn't sure if it was just for mountain biking. I loved the trail, great shade, challenging hills (especially coming from FL where there is no elevation!) and far out enough you didn't feel like you were in a city. What I did not like was there was no map of the trail or anything that told you the distance of the trail. When you are not familiar with the area, not knowing where you are going is a bit nerve-wracking! As I was heading out I saw another entrance that I think connects the two sections of the park. Again no map to tell you where you will end up. Both trails begin across from the baseball fields. read more

I found out about this park from Run for Your Life and have been pretty stoked on it since a friend and I went the other day for a run. This is the first place I've found where I can run and barely hear traffic and not have to worry about getting hit by a car. It's nice to focus on just the run and some roots. So, big ups to the Mtn. biker's that put together these trails. Besides great trails for runners and biker's. It has Tennis courts, Beach Volleyball. Disc Golf(?), and Baseball fields. I can imagine in the winter plenty of sledding to be had too! If you like getting away and getting into some woods without the drive. Then this is your place. read more

While i've really only explored half of what this park has to offer, i'm a fan. There are like 10 sand volleyball courts and it's the site of the volleyball leagues through Sportslink. There are also a number of tennis courts, a solid disc golf course (probably too challenging for a beginner), and some soccer fields. Of course they could use more sand and better nets blocking the ball from going into the woods, but overall, it's a good number of courts and fun competition. read more

My three-year-old daughter and myself love this place!! We go at least three times a week, I really enjoy that there are always a lot of kids there because my baby doesn't meet many friends but she's met a couple at your Park and that's a blessing for us! The only problem that I have with the park is that every time we go, something is broken like slides and the rock climbing thing that you have to climb up on for the big slide, seeing as how that can be very dangerous I'm hoping that you guys will take a look at it and fix what needs to be fixed for the safety of the kids. Renaissance Park has expanded and offers something for everyone. From mountain biking and trail running to baseball diamonds, sand volley ball courts, tennis courts and much more. Clean facilities, disc golf and well trekked through trails. I recommend taking the second entrance into the park (skip the "tennis court" entrance) and parking in the older section of the park [Random note: they also have recycling facilities here]. The trails all interlace and it's a great spot if you're looking for some shady, beginner-medium level trails. You'll find various signs pointing towards different trails once you're on the routes, they're not very defined, but since they're packed together, you won't easily get lost, just keep running and eventually you'll find a way out. I'd say the trails from parking lot to parking lot could easily get your three miles and more if you re-run sections. If you have trouble finding the entrance to the trails, they're located past the volleyball courts towards the front of the park on the right hand side OR if you're in the second lot you'll find two trails located on either side of the parking lot. read more

Decent MB trails. A good workout if you are in the city and don't have time to go far out to some of the other trails. They have two main loops each about 3 miles with a short track option. I like to do the tennis court loop first since it is more up hill and finish with the easier softball loop. If I need a little extra I circle back through the short track and bust that out. Not incredibly technical but enough to get you going. These trails are shared with walker and runners so be on the lookout for them. A couple of places are hard to determine which way to go (not always marked) but do it a couple of times and you figure it out. read more
