We checked in at the front entrance and took the slow-moving elevator up to the rooftop. It wasn't a huge deal, but definitely something that stood out. When we got to the top, we were asked to fill out a waiver on our phones--super quick and easy, but honestly something that could've been done earlier when buying tickets online. Parking in the area was $20 at a lot across the street. Not terrible for a Friday night in LA, but still worth mentioning. Your ticket includes skate rental and one drink, so we grabbed a Paloma (the other option was not available) which hit the spot. Unfortunately, the skating surface was a bit of a letdown--treaded hard plastic mats that didn't offer a smooth ride. It took a lot of effort to move and wasn't beginner-friendly. Plus there was a tricky spot that tripped up more than a few skaters. The biggest surprise was the low energy overall--music was pretty quiet, and the vibe felt more relaxed than festive. We expected more of a party atmosphere for a Friday night rooftop in the heart of LA. It was still fun to do something different and hang out with our group, but unless they upgrade the floor or amp up the energy, it's probably a one-and-done for us. An Art Walk in Los Angeles should be expected to be a scene where culture and artful expression…read moreknows no boundaries and embraces established techniques, modern absurdity and the limitless quanity of weird in the globe to produce what moves emotion or in other words to produce art. And my recent trip to the Downtown LA Art Walk was exactly that a collection of techniques, practices, talents, mediums, and modes of communication that came together and landed to create an amorphous experience that was shaped, like clay, to create visual and sensory craftwork. There were different galleries offering different works. I will begin this review by naming some of my favorite. There was this gallery showing photography that was enhanced, played, or showcased light and that is where I found the dinosaurs of Cabezon come to life by the angles of a camera. I clipped the picture of the drawing (art inception) and it shows a long neck dinosaur that I want to call a jirrafasuaraus but I know that is wrong, walking toward a twilight colored horizon-- where the low of the sky was orange, layered above by a lemon-yellow strip of sky, then followed a soften almost transparent orange, with the rest of the sky being a early evening blue. I could not tell that the picture was fake. I do not want to say that I thought that Jurrasic Park was real, but, the picture did make me feel that the dessert has seen dinosaurs walking toward lovely sunsets. Another favorite was a negative of a picture of what looked like a swan floating in water that was completely black, like a swan swimming on black construction paper. But the only visible parts of the swan was is feathered body, its long neck, and regal tail. I could not see its eyes, I could not see its beak, I could not see its crest up high. The swan was averting the lens of the camera and yet the beauty of the swan was evident because its pure white ruffles were silent against a black backdrop. I could continue naming the pieces I like and why, but then the artwalk would becoming an art viewing. So I will conclude that I also saw a woman wearing a ruffled vest that dragged to the floor. It was inconvenient and kind of bulky, and maybe drag dirt along the train, but this was also art. I point that out because the show attracted people with style, and style on a body, is art, as everyone knows. There was also an apartment building that opens its doors. It offered a fondue fountain, chocolate, pool table, blackjack, and a giant arcade machine where one could play spade invader or pac-man. So the engagement level of Art Walk expanded to art one could make on the spot. And if you wonder how one makes art at a pool table--- then I suggest seeing a video of a player using a stick to make a ball jump to avoid one ball and hit the other. The movement is a type of ballet jump (a piroutte) that is prompted by a stick propulsion. If that is not artistic expression, then, a person living in a glass box suspended in air above the ground isn't either. As I walked the streets of LA, I also saw a truck that had four spotlights. I have always seen events that are signaled out by spotlights but now I know that these spotlights are ambulatory, and kind of, yes, art in their own way. They rose lights to the buildings side and to the night sky. The movement was a type of dance light, and I defy anyone to prove me wrong because at its core, art can never be truly define by words because, on its own, its a visual language.

Then a few laps in a bright colored supercar may be therapy you need! I purchased a Groupon for the final cost of $50, good for the Supercar Autocross Challenge. The cost for this is listed as "starting at $249" on their website. Going the Groupon route I was able to cut the price in half off the $99 that was advertised on Groupon through a promotional discount, Groupon Bucks promotion, and finally Ebates/Rakuten cash back. Pro tip: always use Rakuten for cashback whenever buying a Groupon! LTF staff was helpful and friendly throughout the entire process of setting up the reservation to the time of when I actually got behind the wheel. There were 3 tracks and 4 cars available that sunny Saturday in November at the Santa Anita Racetrack parking lot. The cars offered were a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, Coupe, and Aventador, and a Chevy Corvette. All also had automatic transmissions. Each of the cars were designated only for one of the 3 tracks. This is one of the drawbacks - if you prefer a particular car, you have to go with the track that car is assigned to, and vice versa. Each of the tracks differ slightly in the length of their straightaways and tightness of turns, while overall length is more or less the same. I took the Gallardo Coupe around for 6 quick laps (a staff member sits next to you in the passenger seat) after one warm-up slower lap needed to get familiar with the course. This was some of the most fun I've had since I first got my driver's license! The aural and visual presence of these cars cannot be denied. There was an option to purchase more laps and also to upgrade to a "better" car for extra cost at the session. In this case the upgrade would have been from the Gallardo to the Aventador. All of the cars make for a perfect photo op, just as long as you don't take interior pictures. Their interiors showed obvious signs of wear and tear over many driving sessions. Make sure to bring some water, wear comfortable shoes and clothes, and to drive it like you stole it! That's what the staff would want anyway. Trust me! I asked one of them and he said none of the driving he's witnessed as a passenger has remotely even made him nervous or scared.

The more I look into it, the more convinced that I was able to afford the tickets! I found $90 on Groupon where one can drive six laps in an autocross challenge for 6 laps in a Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911 Turbo, or FerrariF430. I bought my tickets for me and my dad 2 months prior and I was able to get an appointment for 30 mins at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia. Upon we arrived at the Park, they have a small tent outside with approximately 7 or 8 employees and driving instructors. On the day, we arrived at the Santa Anita Park about 45 mins earlier. Once we signed in, we were offered 4 different cars: a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo, a red Ferrari FF, a blue Ferrari F430, and a black Audi R8. Out of the 4 cars, we were told that only the R8 and the 430 was included in the voucher and if we wanted to drive the Gallardo or the FF then we would have to add an upgrade fee of $25. My dad decided to drive the R8 and I decided to go with the 430. They also told us that they can record you driving the car for $25 each person. (They put your driving recording on a USB drive and give it to you) My dad and I agreed and they said 2 people they will charge $40. We agreed on the deal. We wait was short for our rides and we were able to take pictures with all 4 cars if you wish. I took advantage of it and was able to get some pretty decent pictures. The workers there were also nice enough to take pictures for me and the cars at various angles. Now here's the tricky part. one of the workers approached me and ask me if I wanted to drive the FF instead. I declined to say that I would like to save money and drive the F430, which is still an amazing car. Now, one of the workers along with the instructor told me that as long as I give my instructor some tips then I can drive the FF. I agreed and hopped in the car for 6 laps. Once I returned to the tent, I was very satfised. However, when I asked them if I could get the USB recording. They then told me that they don't have a camera in the FF. That was the time when I felt like I was not told the entire things. Since I paid $20 for the video and it was $25 to upgrade. They basically use the video money that I paid as an upgrade fee. I was not too happy about that. Since we are on the negatives of LTF, I would also like to say LTF is not as responsible as I would like. I called the number found on their website and yelp multiple time the day before my appointment day to ask questions. EVERY single time I called, I went straight to voice mail. It was so frustrating!! The voicemail said that one of the representatives will return the call within 24 hours but I never got a callback. I understand that LTF adventure is not a huge corporation and they have limited employees. However, they need to step up with their customer service! I was a victim of an event scammer. Therefore, I get extremely cautious when a company has limited ways to contact them. There were no email reminder or such as well. To summarize, I had a positive experience with LTF overall. Mainly was due to their price. They were able to let me drive my dream car with a price that a college student can afford. The negative about LTF is their lack of customer experience on the phone. I did not talk about the driving experince becusae it was amazing and no commented needed. Whichever car you end up choosing, I am sure you will enogh your time with the exoitc car of your choice. Lots of kids painting and a mural for everyone to be a part of. The staff did a great job managing the event given there was just one person running the show with a lot of interest. We stopped by to check out the mural and I've painted at the studio before. It's a really lovely place and I was excited to see such a good showing. There's so much creativity in Santa Monica and Ally is doing a great job fostering the nest generation of it!

I really loved everyone in the class, and the studio was great and let us use the studio outside of class as well. I met a ton of the members during the weekends and everyone was chill and laid back, and soooo talented! Lots of great dogs in this studio as well. I have given away a lot of my pieces as gifts (I made 16 pieces in my 6 weeks!) and everyone has loved them. It's a great heartfelt gift for anyone. I would have continued with the classes but I missed out on the next level classes, and then I moved jobs so I wasn't working in downtown as much. But I would 100% recommend this studio to anyone interested in clay pottery!
