    Croque monsieur
    JA S.

I think if you are purely getting bakery items such as pastries and bread - or any one of the beautiful desserts you can't go wrong - their batards are one of my personal faves. I ate in for the first time for breakfast and had the croque monsieur (full disclosure: I am a slight croque monsieur snob) but was a little disappointed. Béchamel sauce was on the bland side and while there had been some spread inside the bread (croissant loaf I believe - also didn't love that choice) there was no actual cheese inside, only ham. My dad had the salmon Monsieur and his was actually delicious and it was like eating a completely different Béchamel. Will return as the staff are friendly and efficient and pastries are yummy.

Stopped by for lunch on my recent trip to Sarasota. I had the best chicken sandwich. It had sun dried tomatoes & amazing mayo. My boyfriend loves this location, and it is not a wonder. Definitely worth the trip.

Just today I got croissant with scrambled eggs to go, but it did not go further than their parking lot. With respect to all French bakeries around- this is the best! Crowded, but service is quick. Love their Amandine as well..

My first time here with my husband. The customer service was a pleasure from Maria. The food was wonderful. From the main dish to the dessert. We sat outside. We like the touch they added with the mini Eiffel Tower model. Nice touch to supplement the beautiful Florida weather outside. The only con of sitting outdoors is the uninvited greedy guests known as flies that relentlessly tried to plant their filthy legs on our food. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our visit. We learned the owners are from France. So if you're looking for true expertise in French cuisine, look no further.

Let's all meet up here... rendezvous!! Nice unique French pastry shop in large plaza. They had a decent sized lunch menu on top of the pasties & desserts. Staff is all French here. Little bossy when our large party entered as the host said we were in her way. Feel like we're actually in Europe. Then as some left to go else where she exclaimed "where are you going!" Lol. The gentleman taking order was extra polite. Got a couple pastries & the French hotdog (beef inside a puff pastry)! Delicate n fluffy!! The description said beef sausage, but it was definitely just a hotdog. Side of fresh fruit or salad included. The fruit medley was perfect. Apricot danish was crispy outside & gooey & sweet inside. All the pastries looked amazing.

Loved coming here but not sure if there's a new baker or what? Last few visits the chocolate croissant I order has been chewy and you're lucky if you get more than 2 bites chocolate. The hot coco is not French where it's that rich flavor thickness just plain ole milk and syrup Starbucks is better.

We were in Sarasota today looking at RV's, and we decided to stop for coffee and a light bite. So when we drove past a strip mall and Rendez-Vous bakery caught my eye! Of course I quickly looked it up on Yelp and it had almost 5 Stars. We got there about 40 minutes before they closed and their pastry and bread showcases were almost sold out! I ordered a smoked salmon and cream cheese 2 egg omelet that came with fresh fruit and a few pieces of French Bread. Dave ordered the Ham and Cheese Croque Sandwich, which was covered in delicious cheese and came with a side salad. I had a cup of delicious fresh brewed coffee and it was fresh and fragrant. There was a constant stream of customers coming in and taking home bakery items. So that tells you how popular this little place is! There is also outside seating. We love supporting our local community businesses!

The outdoor portion was recently remodeled and looks awesome! There is plenty of parking surrounding the restaurant and adjacent, as it is nestled into the front end of a shopping area. We had a most enjoyable meal and experience at Madfish Grill. Service and food quality were top notch, not to mention we had a specialty from New England you cannot find most places, fried clam strips. I am picky with fried food and do not get it often and the clam strips we dined on as an appetizer had a light batter and were a real treat. It was a Tuesday and we opted for something off their Taco Tuesday special menu--fresh-made chips and guacamole to start were excellent. I really enjoyed my bowl I got as a meal, the ingredients were fresh and the combination of flavors were on point. My dining partner ordered a fish sandwich that was generously portioned and made out of a fish you traditionally only find in New England. Our server, her name sadly escapes me, was really excellent and on top of our orders, refilling water and drinks, and our requests. She has been there for fifteen years she relayed to us when I asked, which is a testament to what type of place this is. If you're looking for solid seafood in a nice atmosphere check out Madfish Grill. They have lots of specials and features to check out that can give you new options for every visit. I will return for sure to try more of the menu!

We asked if the fried egg that comes with the dish was sunny-side up and were told no, it would be fully cooked and the kitchen would not accommodate a sunny-side-up egg. That seemed unusually inflexible, but we said fine and ordered it as is. When the food arrived, the chicken was clearly not blackened. It was pale, with virtually no visible seasoning. Our waiter actually tried to tell us that the blackening had "fallen off in the sauce." We've had blackened chicken many times, and this simply wasn't blackened. To make matters worse, the egg that was supposed to come with the dish was missing entirely. We asked for the manager, who looked at the chicken and agreed that the blackening had washed off agreed that it did not appear to be blackened. He took it back, and the kitchen eventually sent out properly blackened chicken. Fair enough. But then the manager returned and tried to insist that the kitchen said the original chicken had been blackened and the seasoning had somehow come off in the sauce, even though he had just agreed with us that there was no seasoning on it. I've order this exact dish before, this chicken was not blackened and it could not have been more obvious. We then asked about the missing egg. After another trip to the kitchen, the manager told us we weren't getting one because the kitchen had already scrambled it. We had never asked for a scrambled egg and the menu called for a fried egg, so that made no sense. Apparently, because they had already cooked the egg incorrectly, the kitchen refused to cook another one. I've never met a more weak manager, totally terrified of the kichen. At that point my husband had had enough and sent his meal back. What surprised us most was the manager's reaction. He didn't apologize, offer another dish, or ask if my husband wanted anything else. He simply said okay and walked away. A customer came in for dinner, ended up with no dinner at all, and the manager seemed completely unconcerned about it, and was happy to lose a customer rather than cook an egg. My tacos weren't much better. They arrived cold, and the pork was extremely dry. Thankfully I had ordered a side of guacamole, because otherwise the pork would have been almost impossible to eat. Even with that, I eventually gave up. Mistakes happen in restaurants, and we understand that. What made this experience so disappointing was the kitchen's complete inflexibility and the manager's unwillingness to resolve what should have been several very simple problems. Unfortunately, instead of enjoying dinner, one of us barely ate and the other ended up with no meal at all. Will they see us again? Highly unlikely.
