I didn't have to do a hair and makeup trial with her either. All I did was explain the look I had in mind. I even brought a pic to show what I wanted done. Thankfully, she was able to replicate not only the exact look, but she blended the foundation and makeup shades to evenly match my skin tone! She not only has a stellar personality but she's also very efficient in getting you out the door looking great; all the while making it look effortless. He had been hiding his hair underneath a Mets hat. I encouraged this until he saw a stylist. Just kidding, sort of. Originally I wanted him to go to a salon in Boystown, but his hair (and my patience) couldn't wait. We went to Celebrity Salon in hopes of scoring a walk-in appointment. Unfortunately they were booked solid for the entire day, but the owner, Danielle, managed to pencil Curtis in for late in the evening. There was a slight wait when we returned. With all the various reading material and comfortable, yet swanky chairs we didn't mind it. The salon and its decor is so uniquely rock 'n' roll, so there's much to look at. Moe, Curtis's stylist, called him up for a quick consultation and shampoo. Moe is quick, friendly, and very skilled. My jaw dropped when she showed me the final results. The cut was so modern, sexy, yet effortless! For $25, it was the best hair cut he's had since Salon Blu in DC. I couldn't stop giggling at my husband during our short walk home. Men tend to have three options for getting hair cuts. One is the classic neighborhood barber shop. Friendly, talkative, manly and just fine if all you need is a quick trim or a fresh buzz. The second alternative is SuperCuts or a similar place. Cheap, corporate, and often inconsistent. The third is a high end salon. Most men would opt out of paying $40+ for a hair cut. With the economy these days, it wouldn't be very practical to get an expensive hair cut every two to three weeks, even if it does come with a complimentary scalp massage and product to keep your hair looking fabulous. There's a reason why Celebrity Salon has a large male clientele, these girls know how to cut and style any man's hair with the quality of a high end salon, but the friendly feel of the neighborhood barber shop. So please, say no to SuperCuts. Whether or not you're a stingy Northwestern student or established fashionista, call and book an appointment at Celebrity Salon. Mind you, it will be difficult to resist headbanging to "Ballroom Blitz" and other rock favorites playing overhead!
