I purchased a Groupon for this place and it was a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately,…read moreGroupon is hit or miss but this experience was very unpleasant. It was a Groupon for haircut, deep conditioning, and single process color. The hairstylist (Michelle) suggested I should only do the roots so I did. She wasn't very personable to begin with but her work matched her energy. When she was dying my hair she was staining my hairline which I know many hairstylists "clean up" after but she was just blobbing it on all sloppy and I could see the dye staining my hairline and ears. When she rinsed off my hair she wet my entire shirt on the back (see photo). Even after I was done and she "cleaned up" my hairline I have black hair dye all over my hairline and ears. Safe to say I will not be returning here, ever. To make matters worse, Groupon was paid in full and she charged me an extra $25 for idk what bs but I didn't care at that point. I'm never going back! What a rip off!

Don't we come to higher service places like this to be cut by professionals and not be practice dummies for people still figuring it out? This place needs to vet their new hires. Bianca cut me once and I loved it, that's why I went back. Adriana is the one who fixed me, and I appreciate that, but holy hell. I grew my hair out for over three months just to have most of it shaved off over the course of almost two hours in an attempt to remedy the choppy fade and inconsistent weight throughout the hair that's left.

Claudia is my stylist, got her by random once and never left. Not only is she smart and talented but she is super considerate of what I want and doesn't mind extra instructions or questions. I have curly hair, don't know anything about hair, so I'm always trying to explain things and she knows exactly what I want. She is super cool. I will always come back to Lion's Mane if she is there! Honestly, everyone there has always been great and given me a good haircut. The service is 10/10 and just a good vibe overall. Last time I was there it was packed so make sure to secure a reservation online. You the best, Claudia!

We cannot get a call or text back to schedule an appointment. The voicemail encourages a text which we did over a week ago. Thinking she's busy, we called two days ago leaving a voicemail. Still nothing. Courtesy goes a long way, even a call to say you're not accepting new clients would be respected. No call. No return text (as requested by your voicemail) is rude and unprofessional. All the master certificates in the world could never suffice a little common courtesy.

Years ago I was diagnosed with Sjorgren's disease which unfortunately has caused me fatigue, dry…read moreeyes, dry hair and arthritis. Over the years I noticed hair breakage that was dry/brittle and experienced massive hair loss. Saddened by my hair loss, with a friend's recommendation I decided to take my hair short so that I wouldn't focus as much on the breakage. As the years passed I moved around and went from great stylist, to running out of salons to Salad Bowl hair cuts. I managed to keep it laid in Korea and then arrived in the dry, sticky 102 degree Texas weather. I tried my best to keep it short and bounced around looking for a stylist who knew how to cut, style and fade. My boss recommended J'Jirehs, an upscale salon that was owned by Michelle, a Women of God. Walking into the Salon I heard gospel songs on Sirius that reminded me of my childhood days in the salon with my Mom as well as got me ready and pumped for Church on Sunday. Unlike many salons I had been serviced in, I experienced no raunchy gossip, no out of control children running around but that of a relaxed atmosphere. The salon was conveniently located off of Interstate 35 near my home as well as within 15 mins of Fort Sam. Seated in plush chairs in her African inspired waiting room, I felt at home and knew by the short-haired ladies waiting for service that I was in the right place. Michelle greeted me with a warm smile and I settled in next to the other patrons and enjoyed some gospel music. Unlike many salons, J'Jirehs allows appointments to be booked online which displays her available appointments. All prices are posted and Michelle gladly accepts cash, checks and credit card (very convenient). Her hair was flawless so I knew that my hair would be as well. I know that some people have bad hair days but when you walk into a salon and the stylist's hair is never done... Run!!! I've been a client of Michelle's since February 2015 and am happy to know that I'm retiring in San Antonio. Gone are the days of Salad Bowl Hair Cuts and Hello to the days of Beauty and Glamour. I've had many stylist over the years ( some good ... Some Bad) but am BLESSED to know that I can still look like a Diva in San Antonio. A HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO D NYce CUTz!…read more Ladies, this one is for you--but gentlemen, you can definitely take note too! Coming from the D.C./Baltimore area, I have short hair, and I know how hard it can be to find someone who can really give you the cut you're looking for. I'm still fairly new to San Antonio, and I'm not going to lie--it has been a challenge finding someone who can do my hair the way I like it. So, I took a chance and Googled African American barbershops in the area and came across D-NYce Cutz. It was about 30-some minutes from my home, but I said, "Let me give them a try." I called the shop, and D, the owner, answered. I explained exactly what I was looking for and asked if she had someone in the shop who could work with my short hair. She recommended Susan and told me to give her a call and explain what I wanted. I did just that and made an appointment for the next morning at 11:00. Let me tell you--SUSAN DID NOT DISAPPOINT! She did an excellent job, and I am VERY pleased with my cut! She listened to what I wanted, and I walked out of there one very satisfied customer. I will absolutely be going back! One thing I do want to mention: when I Googled the shop, an old address came up, which threw me off a little. However, the phone number was correct. I called Susan, and she gave me the correct address, so if you're using Google and see an older address, just call them--you'll get the right location. So, a special SHOUT-OUT to D, the owner, and Susan, the barber who cut my hair! I am officially a VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER, and yes, ladies... I WILL BE BACK!
