A friend had a booth here this year so I made the trek from OC to check it out and I am so glad I did. Despite the cold and impromptu rain, haha, it was such a beautiful fair with such incredible and talented creators! I am not usually a fan of big fairs and crowds so I actually really appreciated the smaller scale level of this event and how cozy it felt. Not overwhelming but perfect enough to be able to explore the wide range of amazing vendors at least 2-3 times. I absolutely recommend it and if I wasn't so far, I'd go back for day two!

It gets pretty crowded. Whenever I want to look and shop for unique gifts, I've come to the Renegade Craft Fair. Having it at this lovely park is the best idea. Due to the pandemic, this has been the first time in a long while. The last time I was here, the ground below me was all dirt. The theme today was mainly hand crafted, highly priced, delicate gold jewelry. But there were vendors selling other items, such as succulents, clothes, paintings, candles, embroidered animal jewelry, and crocheted items. Because it's at the park, it's perfect for the entire family, including pets. Someone came with their pet pig on a leash. The park has its own parking lot, along with plenty of street parking.

Remember how tragic it felt when you were in preschool and/or kindergarten and during one of your art sessions, a fellow student stole your crayon? Suddenly it was the end of the world merely at the lack of that blue crayon. Tears welled up in your eyes and to this day you hate that crayon-stealer. That is quite accurately how I felt about this year's Renegade Craft Fair. I am an avid DIY and Etsy supporter and in fact, make and sell my own crafts (plus, give them as gifts, obviously). One can imagine my excitement last year when I learned that the Renegade Craft Fair was coming to LA. Well, you don't have to imagine because from my review, you can see that I was bombarded (happily) with creative and unique homemade goods( which of course was 90% cupcakes and owls); while spending two hours in the sun with hipsters. Aside from ideas on how to expand my own goods, I also went home with a free photobooth photo and a photo with the Renegade Craft Fair owl mascot. What happened this year? My crayon was stolen and instead of the overwhelming craft heaven, I was disappointed with an immensely scaled down version of the craft fair I know and love. Not only did the vendors feature far-less creative goods than last year, but their customer service skills were about as dull as a broken crayon sharpener. Most of the vendors would just sit and text on their phones without ever looking up or saying hello even if you were the only browsing customer, some would only say hi if you would initiate it with no more conversation, and some just weren't even at their booths. I could have easily stolen their merchandise. These are DIY sellers and should consider themselves unestablished boutiques. They need a business class, pronto! Another Renegade bummer? The number of participation craft-booths were cut down by more than half although I did make an "apple cozy" (I know, I agree it is weird) and turned it into a candle cozy when I got home. There was NO photobooth (supposedly will be one on day 2) and NO owl cutout and when the organizers were asked about this, they got defensive and told me that it is difficult to travel with. Sadly, not much stood out. At least, not much in the positive realm. Reverted back to my kindergarten self, I wish Renegade would give me my crayon back.

I love the idea of a renegade craft fair with indie artists, designers, and artisans! The space this year was was big, although it made the amount of vendors look smaller. There was plenty of free parking on the streets and on the dirt, although the later you came, the further you walked. I actually was expecting more vendors, but that's not to say that there weren't already a lot. The crafts ranged from things like handmade dolls or journals and notebooks to printed tees and handcrafted jewelry. Prices ranged too, so there was a little bit of something in everyone's budget. Some of the things were so adorable and makes me want to bring out the artsy fartsy side in me! Other things were interesting, but not so much my taste. I still appreciate talent and creativity though! There were food trucks parked on the side and huge lines as that was basically the only real food option. The trucks weren't selling drinks as there was a beverages tent just for that. Plenty of benches to sit at, and they set out tents for shade (which was very much needed as it was HOT last weekend). I was a little bummed that I didn't see any DIY tents, but it's not too big of a deal. However, there was an up and working photobooth. The Renegade Craft Fair is a unique AND free weekend event in LA (unless something catches your eye) that is worth checking out if you have time!

I was so jazzed I got to finally visit this fair. The Renegade Craft Fair happens twice a year here in LA, summer and winter. Parking: FREE!! Awesooome...the con with this was that the lot was SO bumpy-lumpy. I literally drove 5 miles an hour in and out of it. I didn't want to do any damage to my car or kick up dust to those walking to their cars. In the future, I will park on Alameda (adjacent to the park) and just run across the street. Entrance: difficult to spot, you had to guess where it was or watch people. I suggest in the future putting up a banner or some tell tale sign saying "ENTER HERE" but it wasn't a big deal. OH, and it's also FREE!!!!! Bathrooms: Well, it WAS at a park, there were porta-potty's galore. I'm not a fan of them so I held it in. Crowd/Atmosphere: COOL looking people, obviously marching to the beat of their own drummer. Loved it. Some may and will call it "hipster" that's fine, I'd say that as well. I really wanted to approach so many girls and ask them "Where did you get that?? LOVE IT!" I have to agree with Sunny D. , couldn't the booths have been spaced out a little more?? I kept gawking at the booths and bumping into people, and I was getting bumped into constantly with nary an "excuse me...sorry...". Food: I spotted about 5 food trucks but didn't approach any since we had just eaten : / Next time I"ll be sure to hit them up. Looked like a great variety of them. There were plenty of tables to eat at , and some people walked away from the event and sat on a grassy knoll for lunch. Vendors: AAAAAAAAAAH Etsy lovers paradise! Do you like Etsy? Do you know of Etsy? If you have no clue what I"m referring to, check out etsy.com . You're welcome. (note: not every vendor is an etsy seller. I just made the Etsy reference because the items vendors sell at RCF are similar to what you'd find on Etsy.) It was a little surreal to see etsy sellers that I follow or buy from here at the Renegade Craft Fair. I felt like I was seeing a celebrity. There were so many booths to explore! While my friend and I did feel like we were seeing the same things repeatedly, there was a bit of variety. There are so many cool, hip, awesome handmade items! If you're thinking "Handmade...ew" no, no, no. Think: I've seen this in my dreams or in a cool boutique on Melrose. Yup. Prices: Ouch : / Sorry Renegade...this is where there is a con. I'm conflicted because, how can one put a price on a quality, handmade item? Obviously thought out and made with love and care? You can't, right? But this is LA...where some will sell their soul to get a Michael Kors bag just to pair it with a cheap pair of Forever 21 shorts and top...alas, I digress. Yeah, a lot of stuff was pricey. I didn't go to shop, honestly. Not this time. I went to check out this sweet fair and see if my expectations were met (and they were!!) I collected all the cards of stores I want to shop from. I left with two of the coolest t-shirts ever and a want for more goodies. I will be saving my pesos in my Ren-Fair Jar till December. PROS: -free parking -free entrance -every vendor takes credit/debit cards! Square was a big part of this event. -friendly vendors -lots of super cool items -food trucks -porta potty's -ATM machine on sight -DJ CONS: (not truly a con list, just...hmm they could improve) -wood chip floor is NOT good for sandals or lace Toms!! Wear closed shoes!! -parking lot is full of dust and can wreck your car. Drive slowly. -pricey. Come prepared. -booth aisles TOO close together. Can I have some elbow room?? Overall, very content with my first Renegade Craft Fair experience! I'll be back in December :D

This is my second year attending this event and I am now a fan of this event. It felt a lot smaller this year and I am wondering if it is because was more spread out and there were the same amount of people or if less people came out this weekend. I would think it was because though the temperature didn't go above 80 degrees, it felt pretty hot because of the lack of breeze. Ok but I digress. The Renegade Craft Fair focuses on Indie designer and artisans. The businesses range from affordable to boutique prices but for the most part, the vendors try to give a weekend deal compared to their prices at stores and online. More ATMs were available. Most vendors accept credit cards. Ample parking whether on the dirt lot or in surrounding streets. Food carts as well as food trucks were on deck. (Although I must say, that the lines were ridiculous. But what can I say? It's not something you can control too much. It's popular and people are hungry.) Diverse with people of all walks of life so there is something for everybody- from cultural art collectors to print collectors, foodies to baby clothes, pets to ceramic. This free event is definitely worth checking out year after year.

I enjoy craft fairs ... ever since I was a little girl, I was always crocheting or knitting hats for my barbie dolls or cross-stitching up a storm. I love handmade goods and I appreciate all the love that goes into that product! The great thing about the Renegade Craft Fair is the variety it offers. It's seriously a crafters wonder! The energy and ambiance that everyone gives off is very warm and inviting. Vendors are friendly and so damn creative. There are rows and rows of vendors to look through. From artwork to upcycle products to DIY kits! It's so much fun! Free to park (or take the metro, not free). Free to enjoy. Feeling like you'd like help support local? No worries, shop your little heart out and support all the local vendors. Feeling hungry? No worries, there are plenty of food trucks parked nearby to fill your tummy. Feeling a little parched? No worries, there's a bar available with beer, wine and cocktails. Feeling self absorbed? No worries, there's a free photo booth for you to take all the pictures of yourself you'd like. I bought lots of goodies and felt very inspired to make more goodies. Will definitely be returning again!

Yay! This actually was my first time to Renegade... being a crafter, I've been to tons of other craft shows but this was my first time at this particular one. I was expecting it to be a little larger than it was... mostly because there was definitely the space for it. This place is in the heart of DTLA... just steps from Chinatown and really down the street from the Metro. It was in a well-manicured and updated outdoor Los Angeles Historic Park. To start with: There were about 5 food trucks: * India Jones Chow Truck - basically Indian food... I had a piece of garlic naan that was very tasty. * The Greasy Weiner - hot dogs that I didn't get a chance to try * The Green Truck - Yum! Review to come soon! All organic fare! * Brasil Kiss - they make a mean Latino Latte. * a gelato truck whose name escapes me - they had really interesting flavors but was a really cold day and was sadly too cold to check out. Then there were lots of vendors... and they were all very interesting. It was basically a hodgepodge of tons of etsy sellers and lots of them were very interesting. There were lots of goodies but these were some of my favorites: * Loved the reclaimed wood cutting boards. Lovely. A bit expensive though but very unique and interesting. * Lots of Tea! LOVED the tea from T-We! From a small place in SF which makes their own blends. Bought several boxes and I loved that you were able to sample some of the teas... was definitely nice on such a blustery day as well. *Objects with Purpose! Loved their candles! They were amazing! They smelled so good... and I love that you can use them as a solid fragrance. I had to buy their Dahlia scent - which is Rose and Lychee. Yum! Delicious! *The gourmet Mushmellies (or as most people know them... Marshmallows!) by Plush Puffs. Delicious. They gave out samples and they were definitely the best marshmallows I've ever had. Of course, I had to pick up an appropriate box to put under nin tree! Shhh! * So sad that SQIRL was out of their Strawberry Rose Geranium jam. I've been wanting to try it so badly. Their other jams were good as well... but just weren't exactly what I was looking for. Their little cafe comes highly recommended so one day I will definitely have to go and check it out. * Some of the art is really amazing. I love the retro posters they have at some of the places but I just don't have the place to put them. :( I especially loved this one illustration of Virginia Woolf with the quote: "One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well." How True! * Bath Stuff from Bunny Butt... everything was so fragrant and so lovely scented! And their butters were so creamy! Yum! All in all, there was a good amount of variety and I was able to pick up some trinkets as well as feel all inspired and catch up with some good friends! :)
