So I would've given this business a 5 star rating based on my experience with. Mike Washburn. However after dealing with James Felder today I had to take away one star. I walked in and asked "is Mike here today"? He responded "he is here today...just not right now". He had a smug attitude and at first I just thought he just wasn't good at being funny. Then when I took him out to show him what I needed and an issue I was having, he said I was doing something wrong. Again maybe I was but his smug attitude showed through again. After waiting 1 1/2 hours for an install of my toolbox that I was told would take 20 to 30 minutes I approached James and asked if everything was going okay with the install. The reason I asked is because the first tool box ordered didn't fit. He again had an attitude when telling me they were working on it. When told him that I only asked because of how long it was taking his reply was simply "ok" and he walked off to help someone else. Not a "I'm sorry" or we are doing this or that, just a dismissive "ok". If you can only treat your customers good and not all customers of your business then James should find another job. On the bright side, Mike is great, their products are great and their prices are great. Just make sure to ask for Mike when you go see them. If I had to deal with James anytime I came in I would choose another business. Update: I watched him deal with an elderly lady (after 2 hours...still there). He was dismissive to her as well. She became frustrated with how he was treating her as well. You could tell it in her voice. He may be a great installer but he really has no business in customer service. I am an executive in a retail company for 20 years now and if I saw any of my employees treat people this was I would make a change. read more

He gave me all the time I needed to look around, explained the pros and cons of each display (they had a bunch to look at!), and helped me make the decision that was right for my needs. Took a couple of days for my order to come in and during that time I researched the cover I had decided on and found that Renegade's price was extremely competitive. Competent, Honest, and Reasonably Priced Jim and Mike from Renegade Truck Accessories did a great job installing a lift kit, new upper control arms, lower ball joints, and new tires on my 2002 4Runner. Given the truck was 16 yrs old, I know it wasn't the easiest truck to modify. Parts didn't come apart easily, some of the front suspension parts were rusted together given the original owner spent some time up north. This was not an easy job, but Jim quoted me a fair price, took the job on, and returned my truck with all modifications complete after a few days. I was extremely pleased at the quality of the work, and Jim and Mike's willingness to stand behind the work. Renegade put AMP PowerSteps on my Ram Rebel. The process was great from start to finish. The installation process of the steps is involved enough that I decided to have them installed. I called around town and found that all the shops charge pretty much the same. You pay more than buying online but it's worth it to have a local company sell and support you. I emailed a few places to make sure the steps fit the Rebel and also to get quotes. Jim at Rebel was the only one to answer all my questions in one reply - fit, price, install, total with tax. I called on Tuesday and the steps were in by Thursday. Jim said I'd need to leave the truck for the day. I scheduled on a Monday, dropped it at noon and it was done by 4. The steps look great. This is my first truck and I have other things I'm thinking of adding. Renegade will be first on my list when I decided what I want. read more

I called Renegade at 5pm on Thursday with a small emergency - my van was supposed to go on a road trip the next morning, and my trailer hitch ball was too big and wouldn't come off. Another auto place had already tried for two days to remove it, unsuccessfully (rusted too tight). Mike at Renegade told me to bring it in at 9am the next morning, and assured me their tools would be bigger and beefier, and he felt pretty sure they could get it off. Next morning, it took about 20 minutes, but they finally banged hard enough to get it off, just in time to go pick up our passengers and head out! Then, as I was rushing out the door, they discovered I needed a light hookup adaptor that I'd need to go somewhere else to buy - and to save me time, Jim actually sold me the one right off his own truck. Every time I drive there are heads turning to take a look at my car. Jim and Mike are extremely pleasant to do business with and I almost want to get a new vehicle just so they can trick it out. Jim and Mike were very business-like when I decided to have them install an Undercover on my Toyota Tacoma recently. They ordered the product and called me to schedule a day and time to install. I gave them a day and time as to when I could be there (I live in Georgetown) for the install. They had the work done in the 30 minute time frame for the install. They were helpful in telling me how the cover worked and how it can be removed if needed. I am very pleased with their work and at a reasonable cost for the product plus a small amount for installation. Another competitor, who gave me an estimate for the same product wanted $300 more for shipping plus $100 for installation. Boy am I happy I came here to Renegade for my business. I found this place as I was on my way to another truck place just up the road from them, on the other side of the highway. After being COMPLETELY put off by the radio station/talk show the other place had on (VERY bigoted talk show was on the overhead discussing how ridiculous minorities and "the gays" are, wishing they'd all just go away) I decided that I was going to spend my $$ elsewhere. I remember seeing Renegade's sign from 183 and went to them. Best. Decision. Ever! Jim and his staff are incredible! I felt right at home, was treated respectfully but also in a "familial" way in that I felt like I was talking to a long time friend about my truck. Jim helped me select nerf bars for my new Colorado and didn't try to sell me the most expensive but sold me what would look best on my truck. I also walked in today just to see if I could get on their schedule to have the hood shield I had previously purchased put on and they just took my keys and did it right then and there. AWESOME! Aside from great customer service their prices are unbeatable! Not just for the parts/accessories but their labor is SUPER affordable too. The cost of nerf bars and installation from the Dealership was almost $800. Renegade was just over $220 for the same bars the dealership offered WITH installation! I will use them again...and again...and again and HIGHLY recommend them! read more

The people at Renegade are unable make accurate time estimates for work to be done. We had a gooseneck hitch put in our truck and the installation time was more than 50% over the original estimate. No one called to say there would be a delay and when asked if there had been a problem, the response was "No, we just got distracted by other things". When it was finally ready, the younger owner was argumentative about the time and did not apologize for the delay. The older owner finally did apologize but only after they were defensive and argumentative. The work itself was fine, but installing a gooseneck hitch is not difficult and could be done at many locations in Austin. Customer service and communication is important. We will not go back. read more

DO NOT HAVE WORK DONE HERE! I spent the better part of 3 separate days, wasting time at this incompetent business, attempting to have simple "Airlifts" added to the rear of my van, after having been promised over the phone that "We do this all the time. In fact, we do this most for your exact model." 1) Arrive for installation - takes 4 hours. Worker (Mike) tells me he's finished, and has me pay and leave. While driving home, the system continually comes on (compressor), trying to maintain air pressure. Never stops coming on, every 10 minutes, even when THE CAR IS TURNED OFF! Called the Airlift the company the next day, and was told the installer should have NEVER hardwired to the battery, especially since the whole system was leaking, as this would "burn up the compressor, and run your battery down. Call Renegade to come back for repairs, and little "secrets" start to be revealed by phone. They KNEW that had installed it incorrectly to my battery and chose not to tell me, and they KNEW it was leaking when they let me leave after paying. IN OTHER WORDS, THEY COULD HAVE CARED LESS IF MY BATTERY FAILED (and all of this after they knew that I was immediately departing for a trip to Big Bend, which would have totally left me stranded). I reschedule to spend another day at Renegade. 2) Upon returning, car went back in for corrections to incorrect wiring and leak detection/repair. Mike jerry-rigs the system to my ACC instead of the battery by using fuses that would burn out for the air compressor 1st, instead of frying my ACC console. Left me less than confident about their abilities/knowledge. Mike claims to have repaired the electrical and to have found/fixed the leaks. Gives me the keys, and says goodbye. Not trusting the work for which I had already paid over $800 for, I sat in the car with it running to see if the compressor would come on again, indicating a leak was still there. OF COURSE IT WAS STILL LEAKING. Another 2 hours, a fully wasted day, and another attempt to reschedule yet another visit to Renegade, this time to fix a "Faulty manufacturers valve". 3) A week later, my 3rd trip is set. I arrive to have the "Faulty manufacturers valve" replaced, after pulling teeth to get an appointment. These guys don't follow-up phone calls, don't attempt to expedite the correction of their mistakes, and have zero respect for your time. The valve is replaced, and guess what? THE SYSTEM STILL LEAKS! I told them to remove everything and refund my money. They did, but didn't even have the courtesy to offer a comp for parts or accessories, even after I spent 3 DAYS at their shop, attempting to have them install a simple airlift system. To make matters worse, nobody at this business accepts ownership or responsibility for anything that occurs, even though as I've indicated above, the manufacturer flat out told me it was installed incorrectly by Renegade. Jim, Mike's boss, acted as if it was no responsibility of his, and that the manufacturer was to blame. There's definitely a very poor customer service attitude their. This guy should not be interacting with the customers. They essentially "borrowed" my $800 for a month, with no results. Anyway, Big Bend trip canceled, 3 days of vacation wasted, 84 miles of gas burned, and I still have no airlifts on my vehicle. I will NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE. Why isn't there a way to give zero stars?? read more

Wanted to get a tow hitch installed onto wife's 2006 Kia Sorento. We watched a YouTube video on the installation, which was pretty simple, but being that we do not have the tools or a lift, we called around for pricing. We got quotes of well over $300 and my wife even got hung up on when she called the Kia dealership to ask about pricing and why do they charge so much. Anyways, stumbled upon this hole in the wall by mistake. Wife called and spoke to Jim. He provided the cheapest quote over the phone and just asked us to come by and make a deposit. A day later, we took a short drive over to Renegade to make that deposit. We met Jim ( one of the most down to earth , friendly people we have ever met (and honest!!!). Well, we made the deposit, and tentatively made an appointment for the coming Saturday, barring the parts coming in. ( this was on a Saturday ) Come Tuesday, the wife gets a call that all parts came in, so we are set. Come Saturday, we come in during our appointment time and his team got to work. We were out of within maybe 45 minutes. Freakin awesome job they did. Wife and I are very satisfied. Highly recommend this place read more
