Guy was a very attentive and enthusiastic PT that helped get me back on track after a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum. He did a detailed intake when we started to assess where I was in recovery and what exercises to start with. He always explained in detail how each exercise was beneficial and what muscle areas and type of exercise it was addressing (I.e. mobility, strength). He was also open to ideas I suggested for additional exercises and even ended up adding a few based on my ideas. He sent me updated exercise programs every week highlighting any changes to the routine as well as links to tutorial videos demonstrating the exercises. He remarked how quickly I made progress through the exercises at first but didn't hesitate to hold me accountable when certain areas fell behind (I.e. range of motion) and suggested doing additional repetitions in the lagging area to help get me back on track. I kept him up to date on updates I received from my doctor via post op appointments, and while my doctor erred on the side of caution when discussing my long term functionality with my injured shoulder, Guy was more optimistic that I could regain my pre-injury form as long as I worked consistently at it. Additionally, Guy was very easy to talk to and we'd go on tangents talking about bike riding, hiking, our childhoods, etc while he was helping loosen up my arm in the beginning of our sessions. I think that definitely made me feel more at ease with navigating my recovery, and we were able to wrap up our sessions in just six months. Guy made sure to send me off with a home program that I could build off of and also offered to answer any lingering questions I might have with a quick email. As for the practice itself, Renew Physical Therapy was one of the only practices that accepted my insurance and also made scheduling/rescheduling/cancelling appointments quite easy. Whenever there was no availability their waitlist system was straightforward to use (although cancellation appointments did fill up fast). I've been to Renew for years now - they've put me back together for an Ironman, addressed some asymmetries for another, and I just finished a Strength for Runners class there - extremely beneficial! I cannot say enough good things about Renew Physical Therapy! I had been trying to self diagnose and self treat lingering running issues (Achilles tendinitis and calf strain) for almost a year, to no avail. I worked with Dr. Nicole who is not only an expert PT but also an avid runner, and she helped me realize that the key to my recovery was not more foam rolling and stretching, but runner-specific strength training progressions. Nicole is the GOAT. After the SF Marathon, my IT band was messed up - went through a whole cycle of PT elsewhere and still couldn't run properly. Any runner knows how painful it is not to be able to run, both physically and mentally. Came to Renew under Nicole's care, and she got me back to running at a respectable weekly mileage. Came in for lower body tightness, sciatica, and foot pain. I write this review because Renew has been instrumental in helping me to achieve the goal of motion after having both knees replaced on the same day surgery. I came to them two weeks after the surgery for consultation with Dr. Linsey. After the consultation, I had sessions with either Dr. Linsey or with Grace twice a week for about three months. They were always able to give me the right exercises to ease the pain or stiffness that was part of the recovery process because they always listened when I was telling them what the pain issue was. It's now almost four months since I had my bilateral knee replacement surgery, and as of today, I have gained my full range of motion; and full leg extension. After an accident where I was hit by a car door biking, I worked with Linsey for 12 sessions to help diagnose the pain I was having , and come up with a plan of attack for gaining strength in those areas and rebuilding the areas that were injured. Linsey provides great care when you are getting worked out on the table, as well as excellent instruction when doing exercises. She helped identify many things that have helped me recover from this injury. I cannot recommend Renew PT highly enough! The office staff was very responsive to my questions via text, which made making appointments efficient. A couple of old running injuries remained painful and prevented me from training fully for my first marathon in SF. Nicole immediately gave me an evaluation and PT exercises to increase mobility and strength in my ankles and knees to alleviate the pain. I was also able to get a gait analysis to identify and be able to treat running imbalances that likely started from the injuries. Cannot recommend Renew enough! Absolutely loved working with the PTs here. I initially came for an issue with shin splints that weren't getting better and on a separate occasion for arch pain. Dr. Nicole and Dr. Alexa worked with me to identify the root cause of my pain and strengthen my muscles to ensure that the issues wouldn't occur again, and I finished PT feeling much stronger. Both of them were incredibly patient and worked with me to ensure that I could still reach my running goals while not overdoing it. Dr. Mark has been instrumental in my recovery and has truly changed the course of my physical and mental wellbeing for the better. Previous to coming to Dr. Mark, I been in various forms of physical therapy for over 10 years across six different practitioners in multiple cities with inconclusive answers and results. I felt trapped in my own body given seemingly invisible and undiagnosable limitations that foundationally inhibited my quality of life; even walking would cause me pain, and I had very narrow outlets for exercise. Dr. Mark possesses a rare combination of both aptitude and the determination to see thorny challenges through to the other side. This is incredibly difficult to find. I was a tough client, both because of my challenges and my expectations, which were shaped by previous unsuccessful experiences. Dr. Mark's optimism and focus were important buoys for me. He is also a continued learner; he is always referencing recent studies he's read or workshops he's attended and incorporating that into our sessions. Dr. Mark never hesitated to lean into a problem nor did he give up or "phone it in." I'm now five months in, and I've seen notable, measurable improvements in my ability to walk, run, lift, and understand my body. I hadn't run in over 10 years and didn't even consider it to be an option that was on the table; and I'm now experimenting with short distances. In one session he made significant progress on a shoulder issue I had battled almost daily for *years* and had just chocked up as unresolvable chronic pain. Most of all, the daily anxiety I carried of being trapped with these challenges has reduced and my perceived locus of control over my body has increased. Renew Physical Therapy in San Francisco was wonderful! I came in with a torn rotator cuff tendon, and after a full evaluation by Dr. Guy Delia, a treatment regimen was determined. Subsequent visits, which included exercises, massage, and stretching of certain muscles (as well as at-home exercises), helped a lot. I'm now able to do arm movements that I previously couldn't do before I started physical therapy with Dr. Delia, and I'm now able to lift weights again. I highly recommend Renew Physical Therapy! In December, I injured my hip while running long distance and was desperate to get back to my weekly routine. Having never seen a physical therapist, I reached out to a number of PTs in San Francisco, and Renew staff responded immediately to my inquiry; front office assistants - including Sophia, Nadia, and Janvi - were always responsive, resourceful, and super helpful in pairing me with a PT. I worked with Dr. Guy over the course of 7 weekly sessions, during which time we worked on a number of workouts in sessions. As each week progressed, he helped me slowly ease back into my regular running routine. I have an active life, I like hiking and doing different type of workouts (I love swimming, I swam for 12 years as a kid). Sadly, I am not the same as before and with work, bad postures and habits have been creating injuries in my body, which have caused pain and made me stop performing certain exercises of movements. I had an pain in my right hip, it bothered me doing squats, seating, walking, etc. Renew was recommended by some of my coworkers and I decided to start doing physical therapy in order to lower my pain and be able to keep doing what I love. Everyone on the team are excellent professionals ! Nicole was incredible ! She is an expert and we setup goals, narrow doing the causes and how to get better. She explained me clearly how to do the different exercises, we checked the correct postures, etc. Now I am able to do long hikes, squats, deadlifts and different types of exercises. read more

After working with Brooke S.for a couple weeks On my hip flexor issue, she apparently diagnosed what the real problem was and by incorporating a roadkill stretch into my stretches, I have seen dramatic improvement in my flexibility and gait. It's the first time that I've ever been able to jog short distances since I pulled a hamstring over two years ago. I've seen Drs, PAs and a Chiropractor none of whom could solve the conundrum of why I wasn't able to jog. Onewheel accident led to a torn MCL and dislocated patella back in August 2020. When I started walking again I would get constant knee pain after just ~30 ft. This ended the day after my first visit with Dr. Sabes. I was a patient for 3 months and throughout the weeks Dr. Sabes would modify my clinic and at home workouts pushing me as needed to improve and get back to normal. Currently on week 6 of 6 of the running program I received and continue to improve and am almost back to normal. The staff is very friendly and Lizzie is extremely helpful coordinating and adjusting visits due to work conflicts as needed. Only regret I have is not seeing Dr. Sabes sooner. read more

I've been seeing Brooke for 6 months now, ever since an old injury flared up and left me barely able to walk. Brooke has been nothing but wonderful and I would highly recommend her for anyone seeking a physical therapist. She has been very responsive to my changing issues and has worked with my chiropractor and trainer to make sure my exercises in all three were complementary. She's also very personable, knowledgeable, and goes above and beyond for her patients. If something isn't working, she always knows the next steps to help locate what is causing the issue. After tearing my ACL in September 2019, I did both pre-surgery and post-op therapy with Renew Physical Therapy. It was challenging once the pandemic hit but I was able to do TeleHealth meetings with Nicole which were effective. After the office reopened, I went for in person sessions with Nicole who understood my level of activity and goals and was able to keep my therapy challenging and manageable. I left therapy feeling strong and ready to get back to my normal activities. Later in 2020, I was struggling with back pain and Nicole also helped me figure out the underlying issue and how to fix and prevent it going forward. She took the time to teach me about the different muscles and ligaments involved and really focused on getting my form correct to prevent future injuries. My back pain is gone and I've been able to manage and use what I learned at therapy to prevent going forward. I worked with both Viki (student at the time) and Mark at Renew and they were both incredible. I've done PT for a knee injury at 4-5 different places through the years and this one was the best I've ever been to. The receptionists are really helpful and patient, and the PTs are skilled and thorough. Mark makes videos for all of the exercises that need to be done so you have proper form at home and he and Viki would always go the extra mile to investigate my concerns.
