He was highly recommended to me by my acupuncturist who has seen him several times for therapies to heal long standing back and neck injuries. Dr. Wardell has an extremely impressive and well rounded background and education which enables him to understand underlying issues and causes in a way that most doctors do not. I have recommended him to so many people who have chronic illnesses and pain/injuries who are unable to get relief by traditional methods (cortisone injections, PT, surgery). Not only does he have a deep understanding of any medical issues I've asked him about, his approach is always focused on getting to the true cause and healing them vs a band-aid approach used by so many doctors. His treatments / approach are all quite reasonably priced and has helped people avoid major surgeries that would be much more costly and not actually fixing the underlying problem or condition. I feel that Dr. Wardwell has a strong sense of integrity and ethics and treats his patients with genuine respect, never pushing profit over the best interest is his patients. I have been trying to recover from a severe case of Bells Palsy 7 years ago which I was told by some of the top doctors in the field that I would never be able to heal from it, and the only options were Botox and invasive surgery in my face. I'm so thankful that I have found PRP (plasma rich protein injections, same used in "vampire facials") therapy with Dr. Wardwell which has already healed and improved my symptoms in 3-4 months post PRP therapy. My other doctor who has been treating me, who is the head of plastic surgery at Stanford, was amazed as the most recent progress and never heard of PRP being used to to treat Bells Palsy, which is quite sad. I'm getting the word out. If you are looking for a doctor who will truly get to the bottom of your condition and treat you with the utmost care and respect, I highly recommend Dr. Wardwell. Randy on his team is also very welcoming and accommodating whenever possible. Do not hesitate to schedule a consult if you're thinking about it! You won't regret it.

They've helped me address long-standing issues on my right side -- especially my foot, but also my hip and shoulder. The pain is gone, and I'm back to playing tennis two to three times a week with only limited discomfort after really tough workouts. We're still working on building even more strength and mobility, but the difference already feels huge. They diagnosed the issue quickly and built a program focused on strength, mobility, and flexibility. The exercises take time but are absolutely worth it -- I've developed control and awareness of muscles (and even my toes!) like I haven't had in years. The whole team has been great -- not just with the exercise guidance, but also with the behind-the-scenes details that make scheduling and continuing treatment easy and stress-free. I never could have done this on my own with internet research. Highly recommend!

The space itself is always clean, not too big or too small, and all the equipment is really well maintained, regularly sanitized for every client. The office does get busy, so my very first appointment took a little time to schedule, but after that, everything's been smooth and regular. Overall, a friendly, professional team that makes the whole process of healing to be pleasant, manageable and enjoyable. Highly recommend!

My main symptom is pain with sitting, and with an out of state conference coming up we were motivated to get me well. After only 2 months with Dr. Wu and doing the prescribed home exercises, I was able to take a cross country flight (with one layover) pain free. I had essentially no pain at the conference, and only had pain on the 5 hour direct flight home. This was far better than I had expected. I got too confident after this, and played competitive basketball for a few hours and messed everything up again. I could hardly walk or sit for more than a few minutes the rest of the week. At my next appointment Dr. Wu adjusted me and I felt 50% better instantly and was able to facilitate a 2 hour meeting at work the next day. Today, the pain is still here but we are definitely making progress. The relief gives me hope and the hope gives me motivation. Needless to say, I'm thankful to have found Dr. Wu and Icon Chiropractic.

His staff is not the friendliest, but it's just how some Chinese people act. Don't take it personally. They're just trying to get their job done. You don't know how demanding their job is and they're working with old people all day long. It can be frustrating. Some things to be mindful of: - He takes appointments in the morning. You can also come in any day between 1-5, no appointments required, first come first served. You DON'T want to come right at 1 though, because the older folks (who don't have anything to do), start waiting around 12, so you'll be like #30 in line. A good time to go is around 230. - Parking ... sucks. It's chinatown. The closest parking lot is on Washington Square. It's 2 blocks away, uphill.

Not always the type of characters you want to spend much time with. I met Dr. Cohen about 7-8 years ago from a referral because I didn't want the traditional 'crack' treatment; and he was one of the few in the area that offered other treatments such as the Activator, Graston, etc.. Dr. Cohen is an extremely down to earth person that I immediately felt comfortable with. He doesn't do a cookie cutter treatment plan, he listens, he understands, asks the right questions, then after explaining to me what he thinks is happening to me, will start the adjustments with techniques I'm comfortable with. At this point, he has full reign, I trust him with whatever technique he thinks is best. Once he solves the issue (and often times more!) that brought me to him, I may not see him for another couple years. Recently, I experienced severe tendonitis for 6+ months, no help from Kaiser...I then caught one of Proactive's newsletters and Dr. Cohen talked about a new device he was recently working with at The Olympic Training Center. It' called Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT). I hadn't seen Dr. Cohen in couple years so I reached out to him and explained my tendonitis situation. I started the treatments and I immediately felt the change the next day. Things went up and down for several weeks, but it was clear that change was happening. After a couple months of treatments, I'm feeling fantastic! Being in my mid 40's and not able to pickup an empty glass or plate was devastating to me. Dr. Cohen has been instrumental in increasing my quality of life over the years and especially with the recent Shockwave Therapy - life changing. Book an appointment.

What first caught my attention was the information available on the website and how they claimed to "not be another" physical therapy office. As any intrigued customer would, I called and was greeted by a very friendly, competent, and helpful administrator, Toya. Toya provided a lot of great insight about the company and even called my insurance provider (Blue Cross Blue Shield) to ensure that my insurance would be accepted before scheduling my initial visit. Toya really is awesome and is one of the reasons that I chose Therapydia. Upon arrival to the Embarcadero Center, where the office is located, parking is available in the underground structure and Therapydia validates parking. Instead of paying $18, I only paid $4. The actual office is upstairs between a hair studio and other business. The office was very clean, inviting, and provided enough privacy that other patrons wouldn't know what's happening. I was originally scheduled to meet with Allison, but, I worked with Marcus instead. Marcus was friendly and knowledgeable. I'm looking forward to rehabilitating my shoulder at Therapydia and recommend them for any physical therapy needs.

That in itself wasn't the problem; it's what happened after. I wrote him a (very nice) letter explaining why I didn't feel he had paid enough attention to certain things (an MRI of my spine, for example), but I never heard a word from him. (Though he he did call me after this review was posted...two months later.) Also, it felt like it was pulling teeth to get the office to refer me to a spine doctor. It was like I was just cut loose. So...I'd say the treatment might have been appropriate, but the follow-up was sorely lacking.
