I have been seeing Katie on a regular basis recently as I cope with pain and inflammation resulting from a somewhat overzealous year of triathlon training. She is the perfect mix of absolute professionalism combined with a friendly, warm demeanor that puts one completely at ease in her care. After every session with Katie, I feel a significant relief in pain and discomfort related to muscle tightness that has irritated my sciatic nerve. She is obviously knowledgeable about conditions that typically effect cyclists and runners. Katie listens thoughtfully to my reports from my PT and my doctor and seeks my feedback during sessions to make them as therapeutic as possible. I have found that pain related to the hip/piriformis/psoas is impossible to address with one modality of treatment. It really takes the input and direction of a PT, doctor and a body worker to address the underlying causes of pain and to alleviate as much discomfort as possible during the recovery process. Massage/body work has not only helped me with pain but has increased my own body awareness so that I am able to stretch and roll the right areas at the right time when I'm on my own. This condition, while frustrating and discouraging (especially at the beginning of training season!) has taught me the crucial importance of this kind of body awareness and self care when one chooses to pursue endurance sports. When I recover from this injury I will most assuredly make regular body work a part of my training plan. If you are an athlete who is pushing your limits, I enthusiastically recommend that you make Katie part of your "support team"! read more
