I went there for the first time today. There was a large group in front of me, but someone came up to me right away to make sure I was taken care of and let me know that a group had just come in and it would take a bit before I would be able to get registered. The gentleman was incredibly nice and made sure that I had everything I needed and explained everything to me about the process to rent a lane for the range. I had all my gear but it looks like you can rent everything here. The next staff member to help me get all set up on my lane was also super helpful and nice. I was honestly shocked at how helpful everyone was. Being female, it can be a bit intimidating walking into shops that are predominantly male, but everyone was respectful, kind, knowledgeable and gave me a ton of advice. On the sales side of things, as I was looking to purchase a firearm, also went incredibly smooth! All the staff members that helped me were great! I have nothing but good things to say about this place! I think 4 different guys from beginning to end all helped me and it was the best customer service experience I've ever came across. The guys made me feel comfortable I had such a fun time looking at all the different firearms they have for sale. A huge selection! Big shop, and great range! Prices are decent, they don't jack prices up. It's very reasonable, great quality options. All staff are very well educated! I highly recommend if you are in the Reno area to check this place out! Happy to have visited; I'm a relatively new NorCal USPSA shooter and just came to check out the shop (brainstorm for some AR9 or AR15 builds) and get more information on the local matches (RIPL, short for Reno Indoor Pistol League regularly holds matches here). I had my wife take a private lesson with Bill recently in order to learn the basics and start to get more comfortable around firearms. I stuck around to watch and learn as well and his instruction was very clear and thoughtful and put her at ease quickly. I had a one year membership which expired last year. I said my goodbyes at the range, letting them know I was moving out of stat and not coming back. The next month they charged my card for a one year membership. I called and they demanded papetwork to be signed in person to cancel my expired membership. Eventually, they refunded the $450 charge. They charged me $450 again last month - this place is a total scam. To the peeps at Reno Guns and Range -once is a mistake, twice is fraud. This is an excellent gun shop and range. The entire staff is very helpful and responsive. Over the last two weeks I had two sessions of instruction, one-on-one, with their training staff. I really appreciate the time that both Derek and Daniel spent with me. They are both excellent instructors and made me feel comfortable very quickly. Daniel Smith is amazing! I came in for the first time about 2 months ago for the Intro to Handgun class that was taught by him and he immediately made me feel comfortable and confident in myself. He was extremely knowledgeable and encouraging. I decided to come back for a private lesson with him where he made me feel confident once again and helped me with little tips and tricks to better my aim and comfortability around my gun. Today I took the CCW class, as I was getting ready to go in for the range portion of the class he saw me through the glass and told me "good luck" and that I've got it. After completing my range portion (and passing!! all thanks to him) he saw me again and was so excited for me! He is truly such a great guy and deserves all the kind words and good karma! I am so happy with Reno Guns. I was a member for a long time, and five years later I still love them. First and foremost I love that they treat me as an equal. There are two gun shops in Reno that talk down to me because I'm female, and I look kind of preppy if all of my tattoos are covered. In fact this weekend we went shopping for a new rifle for my 11 year old and it was crazy how different each store treated my son and I. This weekend we rented two lanes for shooting, rented two guns for testing before buying a smaller gun to replace my current carry gun, we also got targets and amo. Everyone at the rental counter was so friendly with me. They pulled it several guns for me to hold upon learning of my new Arthritis. Both men that helped me were very patient while I tried each one, and picked apart what didn't work. When we were done I went over to the sales side and struck up a conversation with someone who again treated me very nice, and talked to me for a long time. Today I went back in to purchase. The same guy was there and he made sure I realized what I asked for actually had a thumb safety & the one I tested didn't. He then had me try it out and make sure I liked it (I didn't), then found me the exact model I tested, without a thumb safety. The whole process was smooth and efficient. The gun I purchase was $10.00 more here than Sportsman (which I also love), but I know Reno Guns is local and I wanted to give them my business. At no point did I feel out of place or less equals. Their range is clean, and does not smell at all of lead. I feel comfortable & safe in there at all times. I've also never felt judged but the range masters on how I shoot. I was at this range yesterday. I went there to attend a CCW class (refresher) and man was this entire event very well worth it! The building/range/store: Just awesome! Very nice selection of items for sale and several employees were on site to assist. I didn't, however, go there to buy. I went there to train and re-certify, and the Instructor, Derick, was just really very well qualified to do that! If you need some range time, or if you need some time on your own (or a cool date site, I guess) this place is a definitely good place to do some "lead meditation." As a former Firearms Instructor (for 12 years) in the USAF and as a retired federal police officer responsible for firearms training, I really think this should be a "go to place" for firearms training. I went one weekend with family who always wanted to learn how to shoot. We had a great time there. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable. My husband must have talked their ear off with all his questions but they were polite and answered all his questions. On the range, there was always a safety officer who was there being vigilant and offered tips to my family on gun safety and handling the gun they had. They also offer a number of classes as well. My 4th visit to this range. I bought a couple items on my last visit which were the wrong type and unfortunately didn't check until I got all the way home in San Francisco. This was back a few months. Since I came back to visit my relatives. I thought why not give it a try to return for at least store credit without receipt.Worst they could say is no and it would have been totally understandable. To my surprise they said no problem and dug into their system to find the receipt and granted store credit which I used at their range. To the 3 guys that went out of their way, I thank you. Overall a great experience, they have a huge selection on rentals there. That's what I went there for. The pricing on the rentals were a little confusing & was surprised at my bill at the end but it was totally worth it, I had so much fun. First time I came in here with my fiancé they completely ignored her and were unwilling to help her or answer any of her questions at all. Gave the impression that because she was a woman they felt she didn't belong there. Vibe of this place gives me that of ex military looking down on anyone that graces their presence without having been in the military. However, I believe this could just be the employees lack of enthusiasm and pure unwillingness to be there and do their job. You finally get onto the range and you feel like you're being watched by your jailer. Dressed in a full getup that makes you feel like issues have been all too common here. You start shooting and suddenly feel like you need a bulletproof vest too. The RSO at the back of the range is on their phone completely ignoring what's going on around them. When they are paying attention it certainly isn't to safety. While I was there I watched the RSO watch several unsafe acts to include patrons flagging each other and even themselves with not a word said by the RSO. This place has zero concern for your safety and is an accident waiting to happen. I wish this was an isolated event but the safety concerns happened every time I came in. I took my brother here and I brought both my guns and amo to shoot with. The price was great for not having to rent a weapon or buy their amo. They have a waiver to fill out and if you have questions about anything, the staff is happy to explain it to you. Inside the range, the person who is there to monitor safety is great with helping you if something happens that you aren't sure about, or if you're having problems moving the target back further than it initially stopped. Personally he was able to help me when my gun jammed and I didn't have the finger strength to push the lever to releases it. It was practically still a brand new gun and had never done that before. My brother and I had a great time blowing off some steam and doing some target practice. We will definitely be back. read more

That's right, if you're not feeling the crowds you can rent this area, which has 4 lanes, just for you and your friends! We rented so many different guns and had a blast shooting them all. My favorite had to be the Full Auto 9mm Battle Born AR. It dumped fast, but felt pretty gentle overall. The "most interesting", but least practical, would have to be the 50 cal Desert a Eagle. One round and I had enough. I'm still trying to figure out what someone would use that gun for! I also had the chance to shoot two different 1911s, one normal and one suppressed. I've always loved these guns but never had the cojones to buy one. After tonight, I just might have to. .45 ACP just feels right and 1911's seem to fit like a glove! So on the way out I walked passed the retail cases and saw an enormous selection that I can't wait to return and explore. The range is state of the art and beautiful! It felt like being in a scene out of a cop drama. The targets are computerized and move out at various intervals with the push of a button. The windows and doors are bulletproof glass made to withstand several rounds of the highest caliber allowed on the range, and the walls and ceilings are made of AR 15 steel, which is incredibly bulletproof as well. These ranges are designed to mitigate sound and be extremely safe, and I felt as comfortable as I could have ever imagined here. Reno Guns and Range is an amazing facility that offers something for everyone, and I can't wait to go back and explore some more. The fact you can learn so much about firearms, firearms safety, firearm use, and have the ability to put the verbal training into practice in so many ways, all in one place with such friendly and knowledgable staff is remarkable, and has me wanting to start learning right now. I went twice to RGR in the space of 4 days. Each time, I drove back and forth from the CA side of Tahoe. To give you a clearer idea, it's 4 x 58 miles = 4 hours of driving. I didn't buy firearms (as a CA resident, it's illegal anyway), but spent about $250 in ammo and gun rentals in total. I'm a recently new gun owner, like millions of people in America because of the Covid-19 pandemic. So I'm not a pro, and I have shot about 300 rounds of 45 acp with my 1911 since I acquired it a month or so ago. 1) (Negative) None of the staff was wearing mask. This didn't stop me from staying there, twice, but imho, these guys should show the better example and wear them, and enforce the wearing of masks in the store, especially when the store is busy. Tip: during the week, it's not busy, but during the weekend I saw up to 50 people in there, and up to 15 crammed at the indoor range (lanes 1-10), mostly not wearing masks. 2) (Positive) The choice of firerarms and the quality of the range are undeniable. For someone visiting from CA especially, this place is like heaven, with many select-fire weapons one can choose from in many calibers (though personally, I couldn't care less for select-fire). 3) (Negative) Wanna try 44 mag or 308? You need to buy full boxes of them. This is a lame commercial policy. 4) (Negative) The sights of rifles need to be checked out. The range guys made me buy a full box of 308 to shoot a M1A Socom 16, but the sights were way off - this was confirmed by one of the range safety officers, after I asked. The AR-15 DD in 5.56 was better, but also off, which was less of a bummer because I only had to buy... a box of 20. 5) (Positive) The price of ammo is affordable. This might sounds as the opposite of what I said in 3), but I do appreciate that I'm being offered a good quality ammo for my 1911 for 30% less than what I'm offered by firearms stores in CA. 6) (Neg/Pos) Choice of firearms for sale is small, very small indeed. Now don't get me wrong, I know it's Covid times and manufacturers are unable to meet demand (and Colt is closed), but the stock in-store doesn't reflect what's offered online: for instance, there's only one model of S&W 357 mag revolved on offer at the moment, which is nonsense. 7) (Very Negative) The attitude, man, the attitude! a) Sales staff are cool, which is normal, because, you know, they're sales and they should be cool & good 100% of the time. b) Gents (no gals) at the range need to improve customer communication, and I'm being nice here in my choice of words. I get it they have to be vigilant at all times, so perhaps the 'boss' told them to appear not too friendly, which would make sense if true. But come on, you need to loosen up the attitude, especially with RETURNING customers: - I never shot a 308 before, so needed a bit of a pep talk, at least to understand the loading and safety for the rifle, especially as I heard the Socom 16 is unforgiving to the shoulder. I was a lot more comfortable with the AR-15 in 5.56, as I took some classes before, but needed some quick reminder. Was it too much to ask to get some clear and concise instruction without being down-talked here? I take safety very seriously, so this was disappointing they (he) didn't take my asking for explanation with a little more patience and granularity (more details). - After I had finished shooting (I shot 15 x 44 Mag, 20 x 5.56, 20 x 308 and 40 x 45acp), I went back to checkout and pay. I wanted to have a quick chat with the guy who served me, for, you know, build a 'friendly' customer relationship, in case I'd come back. And it went like this: 'the socom ripped my shoulder', dude answers 'that's 308, man', and I continue 'but I had a lot of fun shooting the 5.56. The 44 mag was pretty bad [note: I shot an old, 4 inches steel thing], I think I'll stick with 357 mag, and...' and the dude cuts me and says 'great, have a good day man'. That, wasn't courteous, to say it MILDLY. Perhaps the guy could've answered 'hey, you tried this model of a 44 mag, why don't you come back and try this or that?', but no, just a f-u very much. Sad, I had a lot of fun, but I'll probably not come back as a result of the bad customer service. Note: there was another range guy who was actually nicer. read more

I have shot at two other ranges in town and this has been my favorite. I really likes that they have safety staff there which is something that I didn't see at the other ranges. It just makes me feel a little better knowing someone is there watching because I know what I'm doing but I'm not always trustful that other people do. This is the Walmart of the Reno gun world. Yeah, they're big. They got a lot of cool stuff. But. Customer service does not exist. Communication is poor. To start, they checked in a rifle of mine with incorrect serial, and tried to send me off without correcting the paperwork. The gunsmith, Mike, argued I would have cycling issues when I stated I have the correct parts to adjust the gas system and refused to shorten a barrel. The manager, Jordan, no help. Go to Reno Gunsmithing for barrel chops. Go to Spearhead tactical for NFA engraving. This outfit is a joke unless you want to rent a machine gun for $50 per mag. read more

Nothing was too much trouble, the guy at the rental counter spent about 30 minutes with us explaining the pros and cons of each make and gave us some basic instruction. I came here on Christmas Eve for some good holiday shootin' because nothing says "Merry Christmas!" like the soothing sound of gunfire. The staff was friendly and helpful and quickly got us setup with our lane. The facilities are clean, modern, and easy to use. There are two shooting galleries with ~10 lanes each. Only one gallery was open when we were there. The target setup/retrieval system was digital with an iPad-like interface for control. I had a sweater on so I wasn't too cold, but it's a little chilly in there (if you're prone to being cold bring a comfortable sweater). I also had boots with a slight block heel--I recommend flats due to the shells being everywhere. It's easy to stumble on those little suckers. The safety officers were great. They were helpful, stepping in only when needed and keeping the shell accumulation down. We brought our gear so we didn't need to buy/rent anything but they have a lot of stuff so if you don't have it or forget to bring it--they've got your back! They don't let you shoot reloads so leave those at home. read more

Coming from the great commie state of California, we had to have some fun while in Reno. We found this place on yelp and had to give it a shot. Once we got there, staff was very helpful in getting us situated. Even though it was our first time there, the process was a breeze. We got ourselves 3 long guns and 3 hand guns and enough ammo to make a liberal cry. The M1A that was rented started having problems and the range master quickly resolved the issue. Nice facility and environment, helpful staff and a great time. What more can you ask for? read more

I was trying to find some places to unload some lead in Nevada. Being cheap, I wanted to find an outdoor location, but the 100F temperature and high fire danger suggested I look indoors. I decided to drop by due to some good reviews, and I have to say those reviews are well earned. It was my first time shooting in an indoor range, but the friendly staff made it a comfortable experience. After I got situated, I started target shooting with a Glock 17. That's when the range safety officer noticed that I had no idea what I was doing and thought "I want to help this guy". He gave me a few tips, and then tried to sell me on a training session. At first I thought, "Well this is how they make their money I guess," but it wasn't that expensive so I bit the bullet. It was money well spent. After an hour of instruction, I was a much better shot than I was before. He covered everything from grip to stance and reloading. After I was done, I took a picture of a target I shot and sent it to my friend who I go shooting with. He replied by asking if I used a rifle. I'd definitely recommend stopping here if you're ever by Reno. read more

Staff was super helpful. Shot 9mm, 45, 2 different 556s (semi and fully), suppressed 308 and a 7.62 full auto. Lanes were clean and well maintained and the rotated the range to keep them alert. Friendly, made food suggestions and had great systems and followed them in terms of safety protocols. Enjoyable experience for husband and son, they caught great videos and photos and will be sharing the experience for years to come. Would definitely visit again when in Reno or Tahoe. read more

My wife rented a S&W m&p 2.0 and I used my Kimber 45acp. It was a wonderful experience.
