Heated bleachers for $5 sound great. Sadly, my daughter only got about 20 minutes of skating, so I admired them from afar while questioning my life choices. "Community skate rink" appears to mean you already know how the website works and what to do when you arrive. For everyone else, the site lacks info, the mobile schedule is a joke, and there are zero check-in instructions. We arrived early for the 4-5pm public skate and spent half of it in line for skate rentals. Multiple staff, one register, glacial pace. Same line for walk-ups and online reservations, making planning ahead feel symbolic. They take your shoes, the skate hour ends at 5:00pm on the dot, and we left at 4:55 to avoid yet another slow line just to get them back. If you like skating, waiting, and mild confusion, this might be your place. read more

I've been taking my son here for skating lessons for about 6 months now. After lessons and some public skate time, I feel I can fairly leave a review. First of all, the ice is great here and it's a great place to skate. If you aren't wanting to go to South Lake Tahoe, this is really your only other option. They hold many events here including the amateur hockey team games and the UNR team games, so the rink is well kept. The lessons have been decent quality. Most instructors are young ladies, likely high school students, but they do a good enough job for my 4 year old. You get a fair price for a few months of lessons and you get some free public skate passes included. This is a great perk if you can make their public skate work in your schedule. Most of the times are during the workday and school day, there are not many weekend sessions available. (See photo of January 2026 calendar). Not ideal for a working family. My biggest issue with Reno Ice and the reason for four stars is that the communication is not good. They rarely answer the phone when you call, and if they do, it's likely the employee won't know the answer to your questions. The skate lessons are very challenging and confusing to sign up for and no one is really able to help you or explain it to you. Most front desk attendants are young and they aren't able to help you much if it's outside the realm of handing you rental skates and checking you in. Additionally, we showed up for lessons one night and the rink was completely shut down due to a refrigerant leak. While I realize this is a major emergency, a quick email to families enrolled in lessons would have been great and saved us a drive from Carson City. Don't get me wrong, this is a great place to skate, but there is certainly room for improvement in some areas of running a business. Got to finally check out a Reno Ice Raiders game, the last one of last year against the Vegas team. We were so excited to see options for hockey games locally. $30 tickets plus fees for an 8 pm Friday night game. Didn't know what to expect so I asked other hockey fan friends. They recommended getting to the ice center an hour to find parking. We did and the lot was already packed so we parked further down on the side of the road across of the apartments. When we went to wait in line, we found a snaking line along the side of the building. After waiting in line for a few minutes, other fans told us that it was for the season pass holders. There was a second line parallel to that, along the parking lot that ticket holders waited in. It was kind of confusing and overheard others saying the same. It would have been super frustrating if we had waited in the wrong line til they let attendees in to find out that. Wish the line procedures were more clear. Once we got in (there were no bag checks or clear bag restrictions) we went to the small concession stand. They had snacks already prepared like bags of popcorn and hot cocoa ready to pass out. It made things much smoother to get through. There were no specific seats, just first come first serve bleacher seating. But all of the seats had nice views of the ice. It was a great game, getting to see many of the 9 goals from our section. Looking forward to seeing another game! read more

We had so much fun during their open skate! Good music, great ice, and the crowd the day we had the perfect energy! There were a couple of things that felt like setbacks, open skate was only an hour, and between the amount of time we waited to pay/get skates, it definitely cut off at least 15 min. I also feel like we needed at least 30 min longer, just about the time you get the hang you have to leave. And then we also paid for a skate assist, and unfortunately people took them without paying, so we had to wait until the tracked down someone without a wrist band, maybe that area would be best to be monitored! But overall, a fun visit and we'll probably check it out again! read more

I'm such a fan of Reno Ice. They have truly brought this community together. I'm blown away how packed this place is every time I go there. They have something for everyone in the family, even if you just want to sit and watch. It's great knowing that all of my friends with kids, have kids enrolled in either Hockey, figure skating, skating clinics, handicapped skating. This place has it all. They need to expand, and not in a bad way, in an amazing way! Every hockey game is sold out, and there is generally only standing room by the time I get there, and this is not a complaint at all. I finally went to my first Ice Raiders hockey game at the Reno I e Arena. They were playing FDNY, so it was a great first experience. The venue is small, so it sells out quickly. On the plus side, they are all amazing seats close to the action! I loved the energy and hype of the game. They auctioned off some FDNY practice jerseys commemorating the fire fighters lost on September 11; I was fortunate enough to get one. I will be back for more hockey! read more

My family and I tried Reno ice for the first time today. We looked up the times for their public skate times online. They suggest to come 15 mins earlier and they meant it bc it was really busy when we arrived, there was already a good size line to pay and collect your skates. Having said that the staff was awesome! The line moved quickly and they were super friendly and welcoming. An hour is plenty of time for beginners! Your legs will get tired from trying to keep yourself upright. It was a lot of fun! I did see that they offer little blue box carts free of charge to anyone that wanted one. For little kids and really anyone that may need a little bit of assistance. It did get a little difficult dodging and weaving the traffic but it's all in the fun of it. I have a lot more respect for hockey players and figure skaters after today! It is certainly not easy but my family and I had a blast and will certainly be back;) read more

Just a straight up good time! From the staff to the facility and all the little touches, we feel so grateful to have this spot in our community! I'm definitely an ice skating amateur, so I'm not sure how other indoor rinks operate. But for Reno Ice, they post the schedule online so you can find the right time to go. We went for the open Public Skate on a Sunday afternoon. Based on other reviews, I was expecting it to be totally packed, but it was fine! We had no issues checking in and getting skates, and the actual rink is huge so it never got over crowded. The ice is kept pristine. Open skate is only an hour long, which definitely goes by quick, but it's because they need to zamboni it that frequently. I appreciate that because by the end of the hour, the ice was just starting to get a little sketchy. Anyway, I love that they dim the lights during skating time. It's a fun experience with the music and everything. The staff is always nearby to help if needed. The facility and restrooms are kept super clean, and the equipment still seems new and well-kept. Overall, having no other indoor skating rink to compare it to, we absolutely loved this place. We can't wait to come back again and again for a fun afternoon family outing! read more

What can I say, it's an ice rink so spectator seating is bound to be cold! You can spend the money to turn the overhead heaters on or just snuggle up to your blanket and enjoy the show. Concession stand is open sometimes, but unfortunately not all evenings. This would be my only complaint, concession hours. I am absolutely obsessed with this place! When it first opened, I wanted to go ice skating but didn't get around to it for way too long. Then, my husband wanted to learn how to play ice hockey, so he signed up for the "ice breakers" fall clinic. Well, out of the gate he was terrible because he's never played ice hockey before. Thus, we have started doing public skate every weekend. About 6 months have passed since the first season. My husband is now enrolled in the two spring ice breaker things (class & league). We still sign up for public skate on either Friday or Saturday nights for $10/pp. They also do skate sharpening quick and for cheap. Best customer service I've ever experienced! My two little ones were having a full melt down during their first ice skating experience at Reno Ice and the manager came over and talked to them, got one of them new skates, and then took the oldest one skating so I could help the younger one. I'm absolutely loving this new community resource and clearly so is everyone else! I took my kiddo twice to the open skate times and he is hooked on this activity and I'm so happy about it! After leaving he'd ask to go back for an entire week, so I finally got him signed up for learn to skate classes and I'm excited to see him develop his skills and independence. Open skate sessions are somewhat limited but you can find them on the schedule if you look closely. Cost is about $14/session with skate rental, so it's not cheap but also not bad either for two hours of fun. Classes aren't just for kiddos either. They have learn to skate for adults, hockey clubs and lessons and a lot more! Four stars is because their website and info is absolutely awful. I couldn't figure out how the classes work or how to sign up on the site and it took a whole week to figure it out with the help of their staff that oversees it all. read more

From exceptional ice skating lessons that introduce new skaters to the ice and gradually build up crucial skills, the amazing hockey and figure skating programs that range all ages, the Ice Raider games, and of course free skate, there is something for all levels and age. The coaches and managers of the facility are always responsive and helpful, and the programs are reasonably priced, along with scholarships for financial assistance and regular gear swaps to keep equipment costs down. I appreciate that I don't have to pay entry fees to watch my kids games, and the snack bar doesn't hurt either. Our HOA reserved the rink for a private community event and it was so much fun! It was a nice, clean facility with ice skating trainer aids for all who needed them (young and old). The ice skates we rented were easy to adjust and fit true to size. There were bleachers for non-skaters to view the festivities and the music was on point! Great selection of songs to keep you pumped up and moving. The rink was a decent temperature - not freezing and not warm. Also, this indoor arena was such a nice change from the outdoor man-made rinks at GSR and the Aces ballpark prior. Imagine this... a real rink open year round with nice, smooth, even ice. Winning! We dressed in layers and ended up taking off our coats/jackets within the first 20 minutes. We definitely recommend Reno Ice and we will be back! We just wish it was more centrally located as it was over a 30 minute drive from Spanish Springs. read more

Took a walk around the "block" and had to check out this place. I see lines of people waiting to get in everyday. Came in during 'figure skating" time and it was so beautiful watching people glide around the rink, twirling and jumping. The rink had some music on. I could watch these people all day. Hot tip for boomers like me in fear that they could break something while skating... There is an aid for people like me who have not been ice skating in decades. It looks like a walker and may be kind of awkward, but hey, if it keeps me vertical, I'm all in! I love my little South Reno neighborhood. Great place for families with children! Never been here to skate as I can barely walk in a straight line without fumbling over carpets and rocks haha but I have been to many hockey games here! Bathrooms are usually clean and taken cared of, Pro shop was well stocked and the snack bar is on point! Prices are right and the vending machine never works haha. Seating is bleacher style with some standing room on the home side of the ice. Scored a free puck when we went to our last game. Love this rink--come to watch friends play regularly. The only problem is the concession stand is NEVER open. Currently here on a Saturday for a hockey tournament and it didn't open until 12:30. The people working there weren't even sure it was going to open at all cause they just make up their own hours instead of following posted hours. There are lots of kids, parents...Concession stands at hockey rinks or sports events should be open by first practice or game. Several people were talking about it. Tons of lost revenue and parents who plan to get their kids snacks. You guys gotta do better!!! read more

I skated there 3 times a week or so back in March and part of April 2021. The ice is amazing, but the management is awful. I felt frustrated when I felt like a "Skate Monitor" wasn't doing his job. I confronted the kid, he had a power trip about it and had me kicked off the ice for that session. The next week, Reno Ice's GM decided I should be banned/suspended from the rink for up to 1 year. Going to this ice rink on a regular basis is way more expensive than a gym membership. I feel like they are charging a high premium for being the only ice rink around without having to drive an extra hour or so to get to somewhere like Lake Tahoe. The teenage kids who are paid to "Monitor" the safety on the ice don't really care about keeping people safe. I'd give this place a higher rating if it weren't for the piss poor management. The skates needed sharpened. The skates I got this time I went here were not sharp at all, I went to trade it out and it was better, but one still needed sharpened. They are currently having construction, so it is a little crowded in the hallway, but I like the artwork they have inside the lobby area. These also added a live camera, but to be honest I think Reno Ice should get rid of it. It is blurry and hard to see what's going on, and you have a window where you can see it with your eyes right next to the camera. read more
