I enjoyed their public skate with my husband. It was his first time to skate, but staff were so kind, and they helped him over and over. We should go again when we have a chance!

Got to finally check out a Reno Ice Raiders game, the last one of last year against the Vegas team. We were so excited to see options for hockey games locally. $30 tickets plus fees for an 8 pm Friday night game. Didn't know what to expect so I asked other hockey fan friends. They recommended getting to the ice center an hour to find parking. We did and the lot was already packed so we parked further down on the side of the road across of the apartments. When we went to wait in line, we found a snaking line along the side of the building. After waiting in line for a few minutes, other fans told us that it was for the season pass holders. There was a second line parallel to that, along the parking lot that ticket holders waited in. It was kind of confusing and overheard others saying the same. It would have been super frustrating if we had waited in the wrong line til they let attendees in to find out that. Wish the line procedures were more clear. Once we got in (there were no bag checks or clear bag restrictions) we went to the small concession stand. They had snacks already prepared like bags of popcorn and hot cocoa ready to pass out. It made things much smoother to get through. There were no specific seats, just first come first serve bleacher seating. But all of the seats had nice views of the ice. It was a great game, getting to see many of the 9 goals from our section. Looking forward to seeing another game!

I finally went to my first Ice Raiders hockey game at the Reno I e Arena. They were playing FDNY, so it was a great first experience. The venue is small, so it sells out quickly. On the plus side, they are all amazing seats close to the action! I loved the energy and hype of the game. They auctioned off some FDNY practice jerseys commemorating the fire fighters lost on September 11; I was fortunate enough to get one. I will be back for more hockey!

My family and I tried Reno ice for the first time today. We looked up the times for their public skate times online. They suggest to come 15 mins earlier and they meant it bc it was really busy when we arrived, there was already a good size line to pay and collect your skates. Having said that the staff was awesome! The line moved quickly and they were super friendly and welcoming. An hour is plenty of time for beginners! Your legs will get tired from trying to keep yourself upright. It was a lot of fun! I did see that they offer little blue box carts free of charge to anyone that wanted one. For little kids and really anyone that may need a little bit of assistance. It did get a little difficult dodging and weaving the traffic but it's all in the fun of it. I have a lot more respect for hockey players and figure skaters after today! It is certainly not easy but my family and I had a blast and will certainly be back;)

Wonderful place to watch people Ice skate. They have sled hockey as well. Kevin ,you are an amazing person. What an outstanding facility in Southwest Reno for the community. A place where people can enjoy winter sports indoors. Thanks for building a wonderful place of fun. The Reno Ice sponsors Sled Hockey Team. The staff are friendly, professional and outstanding. Come watch Reno Ice Sled Hockey team. We are proud to be sponsored by Reno Ice, High Fives Foundation and City of Reno Adaptive Sports program. Thank you, Reno Ice for excellent facilities.

Best sports community in Reno. My daughter said she wanted to do hockey 5 years ago and since then the community at Reno Ice has wrapped their arms around her and taken her in. Reno Ice has been a blessing for my daughter.

Just a straight up good time! From the staff to the facility and all the little touches, we feel so grateful to have this spot in our community! I'm definitely an ice skating amateur, so I'm not sure how other indoor rinks operate. But for Reno Ice, they post the schedule online so you can find the right time to go. We went for the open Public Skate on a Sunday afternoon. Based on other reviews, I was expecting it to be totally packed, but it was fine! We had no issues checking in and getting skates, and the actual rink is huge so it never got over crowded. The ice is kept pristine. Open skate is only an hour long, which definitely goes by quick, but it's because they need to zamboni it that frequently. I appreciate that because by the end of the hour, the ice was just starting to get a little sketchy. Anyway, I love that they dim the lights during skating time. It's a fun experience with the music and everything. The staff is always nearby to help if needed. The facility and restrooms are kept super clean, and the equipment still seems new and well-kept. Overall, having no other indoor skating rink to compare it to, we absolutely loved this place. We can't wait to come back again and again for a fun afternoon family outing!

Finally got a chance to visit this place. I excitedly watched you build this huge place. Quality/Quantity - Non-profit, affordable ice skating for the public. Check out their website for more info. Atmosphere - Open year round, 7 days a week; see Yelp or website for specific hours. NHL size rink, working on building a second one. Small concession stand and hockey store. Plenty of parking. Service - Many programs - Youth and adult hockey, figure skating programs, public skating, private lessons for figure skating and hockey, school field trips, homeschool skating programs, birthday parties, sled hockey, Reno Hockey Academy, etc. Price - Very affordable, see picture of schedule and prices. $10 per person, $4 skate rentals. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since January of 2021.

We enjoy our time at Reno Ice. The kids love getting on the ice for hockey and skating.

What can I say, it's an ice rink so spectator seating is bound to be cold! You can spend the money to turn the overhead heaters on or just snuggle up to your blanket and enjoy the show. Concession stand is open sometimes, but unfortunately not all evenings. This would be my only complaint, concession hours. When open, you can grab a quick bite to eat it even a cocktail, but that's just when they are open. Still fun to watch that favorite guy of mine play men's league!!

If you're aware of the new youth ice hockey and figure skating programs here at Reno Ice then you'll know that Northern Nevada needed a hockey rink and ice hockey team a long time ago. We attended our first Reno Ice Raiders games and it was an absolute blast!! If you've never attended a hockey game then you're in for a rough treat. It's exciting, fast pace, and a great live spectator sport. The Reno Ice Raiders game have been in such high demand that tickets have sold out within 15mins for every game. Now that's community support! Here's some tips on going to a game: Take a jacket cuz the arena gets chilly, get there early because seating is first come first serve, take some cash for the 50/50 raffle, and bring energy to support our home team.

I'm absolutely loving this new community resource and clearly so is everyone else! I took my kiddo twice to the open skate times and he is hooked on this activity and I'm so happy about it! After leaving he'd ask to go back for an entire week, so I finally got him signed up for learn to skate classes and I'm excited to see him develop his skills and independence. Open skate sessions are somewhat limited but you can find them on the schedule if you look closely. Cost is about $14/session with skate rental, so it's not cheap but also not bad either for two hours of fun. Classes aren't just for kiddos either. They have learn to skate for adults, hockey clubs and lessons and a lot more! Four stars is because their website and info is absolutely awful. I couldn't figure out how the classes work or how to sign up on the site and it took a whole week to figure it out with the help of their staff that oversees it all.

The Reno Ice Community Ice Arena has become my family's second home. Several years ago we decided to let our oldest try hockey, and we've been there several days a week since. From exceptional ice skating lessons that introduce new skaters to the ice and gradually build up crucial skills, the amazing hockey and figure skating programs that range all ages, the Ice Raider games, and of course free skate, there is something for all levels and age. The coaches and managers of the facility are always responsive and helpful, and the programs are reasonably priced, along with scholarships for financial assistance and regular gear swaps to keep equipment costs down. I appreciate that I don't have to pay entry fees to watch my kids games, and the snack bar doesn't hurt either. We appreciate the sense of community and focus on positive sportsmanship that are a priority. Thank you Reno Ice! #thankfulThursday

These thoughtful touches create a festive, memorable atmosphere that the whole family loved. The only downside was that the ice wasn't resurfaced during our visit, which left the surface quite choppy and made skating a bit more challenging. Despite that, it didn't detract too much from the fun, and we're already looking forward to returning with the kids soon. Highly recommend for a delightful winter outing!

I love this little free rink! I've been coming here for several years now and enjoy the outdoor…read moreskating in the heart of the Northstar village. There are, however, a few downsides: - Parking can be crazy and $$ if it's high ski season (though today I got very lucky and snagged a free spot up close since there's very little snow on the mountains) - The rink is not well maintained. The Zamboni comes out so rarely that in all of my years visiting, I've only seen it ONCE. That makes for a choppy, slushy mess of a rink and explains why this place clears out pretty quickly sometimes. Not fun. - There are a LOT of first-time skaters here from tots to adults. (The bigger they are, the harder they fall!) This is not your typical New England hockey rink or even your Midwest mall rink. No amenities exist like the assisted skate thing that kids hold onto while they learn to skate (there would be no room for that anyhow; see next bullet). Expect to get plowed into once or twice. - The rink is REALLY small. Your feet will hurt from making tight turns and avoiding flying ninja turtles (see previous bullet). They don't prescribe a direction to skate, but everyone generally skates counter-clockwise. - There's rarely, if ever, anyone official on the ice. Don't expect to have anyone monitoring skaters or providing first-aid assistance. Welcome to the wild west! The best part is that it's free to skate (skate rentals are extra) and the surrounding area is full of comfy seats near fire pits and overhead heaters. Sometimes there's a live band, which makes for an even better skating experience (otherwise there's not really any music, so I'd advise packing your iPod). You can also enjoy the smells of the surrounding restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries as you weave around scared adults or conga-line dancing teens. And once you've had your fill of dodging bad skaters all afternoon, just mosey on up to one of the many bars in the village and relax with a beer!
