    Roller rink/ice rink in winter
    Gina M.

Great spot! Not very crowded, free skating if you have your own skates, cheap skate rental, shaded spots to sit, fire pits you can use to warm up or make s'mores, great music and sound system...including live music, full bar for parents who don't want to fall down and break their legs, very pretty setting, lots of options for eating. Thumbs up! Side note: they need to work on their website: thumbs DOWN!

Skates rental are 12 bucks for the day. Super cheap!!! The rink is small and pretty much after an hour here, you'll be tired. There are chairs around the rink for you to rest at. Each side has 2 fireplaces to keep you warm. There's also a bar outside. This is a great place to hang out and do an activity if you don't want to snowboard or ski in tahoe. Great live music!

Great, fun little skating rink in the middle of the Northstar village. It was not too busy the day we were here.

So much fun! Loved the fires around and the musics played. Good times. Wish I could go back and do it all over again.

Too crowded and bad conditions. The ice is really rough. We quit after 15 minutes. It's really not worth it.

Seating near the rink is hard to come-by, however, as people are camped out next to the fire and next to the heat lamps.

Well worth the visit even if you don't ski…read more $50.00 for ski lifts/Gondola trip up mountains to visit. A little bit more if you're skiing. Several slopes still open but none is novice. End of season and not enough snow anymore. Fantastic staff here. Their guidance on what to observe where and when to show how warm and friendly they all have been really makes this day complete. The 1960's Olympics museum is a must. I had no idea this was here and it's been not only a fun history lesson but neat to be so close to the elements, buildings, photos, stories and land where the first western USA Olympics took place. What a great experience. Gondola patrons lovely. Lift just to left of the slopes much busier and end of day skiers can be a bit nasty. Over all good experience anyway. $0.00 to park and right next to the Olympic village. You're just steps away from the lifts.

We went for the night tubing, and it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip. The atmosphere alone is worth it--everything is lit up, the snow sparkles under the lights, and there's this perfect mix of excitement and cozy winter vibes. The tubing itself was so much fun--fast, smooth runs and well-organized, so you spend more time enjoying it and less time waiting. What really surprised me, though, was how dreamy the whole village felt. The shops were charming and beautifully set up, almost like walking through a winter postcard. It's the kind of place where you just want to wander, take your time, and soak it all in. And I have to mention the ramen--because wow. After being out in the cold, a hot bowl of ramen was exactly what we needed, and it did not disappoint. Rich, flavorful, and super comforting. It honestly elevated the whole experience. Between the fun activities, the cozy and aesthetic shopping area, and the great food, this place is such a vibe. Perfect for families, date nights, or just anyone wanting a memorable Tahoe experience. I'll definitely be coming back!

The desk employee went from bleacher to bleacher yelling who has an animal here. I stood up and said I do and it's an emotional support animal and I have my papers with me. Not only was the deck clerk very hostile and loud she knew nothing about California emotional support animal laws for the state. It was a very embarrassing situation. We have only been to this rink twice around the same time each year. The snack bar was close the vending machine was empty and there was nothing for anyone to eat or drink during a free public skate. Will not return ..

The SLT Ice Arena is a great place to skate!…read more Our family stopped in for an open skate session and we were warmly greeted right away. The nice lady working got us set up with rental skates for myself and my youngest, who needed the smallest possible skate they make! For kids, its the same admission price whether they need rental skates or not. Under 3 is free. For myself it was $20 but if you have your own skates it would be $16. While they were a bit late in having the ice ready on time, once the Zamboni finished up, the rink was open to the public. It was slow at first and then got pretty busy. They also ended up blocking off one corner of the rink for what looked like a kids hockey lesson. It felt a bit crowded after that. Overall, the ice was good, the prices are fair, and this rink has the longest public skate sessions (about 3 hours!) of the two main ice arenas in the area. My kids and I enjoyed skating here and we will certainly return.

I had a great experience snowshoeing at the Northstar Cross Country Center!…read more I purchased a pass for $71 (steep, but cheaper than skiing so whatever!) and road the gondola up to the center. It was easy to get there from the village and there is clear signage directing guests to the center. Plus, the gondola is scenic and fun! The staff were super friendly and helpful. They reviewed the trail map with me and gave me route recommendations based on the trail conditions following a week of heavy snow. The center is equipped with hot water and clean restrooms. I especially appreciated the Caboose Warming Hut along my route - it was such a treat enjoying a warm beverage in a snowy meadow as I took a break from snowshoeing. There were plenty of scenic trails to explore and I enjoyed the views of the lake about 3.5 miles from the center. I brought my own snowshoes and trekking poles, but they have rental gear if needed. This was a fun way to spend the day while my friends went skiing. Definitely beats waiting in the village. ;)

I have held a season pass to Northstar Ski Resort for six consecutive years; however, an experience…read moreat the resort left me feeling utterly frustrated. The conditions here seem to deteriorate with each passing year. First, the resort's mobile app is extremely unreliable. The app often indicates that certain trails have just been groomed by snowcats, yet when I actually go to ski them, I discover that several runs clearly haven't seen a groomer in days. This dissemination of false information is not only misleading but also jeopardizes skier safety and severely detracts from the overall guest experience. Furthermore, last month, the Comstock lift experienced frequent operational failures, attributable to staff handling, which clearly demonstrates an urgent need for professional staff training. Second, the management here appears to be extremely lax. During the early morning hours a time when operational efficiency should be at its absolute peak, staff members were observed sitting around chatting in plain sight, completely neglecting their duties. This lackadaisical attitude projects an image of extreme unprofessionalism to the public. Worse still, a male employee working at the ski lifts displayed a rude and highly aggressive attitude. This abysmal level of customer service is absolutely unacceptable, particularly at a ski resort that is supposed to prioritize the "guest experience" above all else. In summary, this was a deeply disappointing experience. Management must take full responsibility for the current situation and immediately implement measures to effectively enhance staff training and supervision. I hope the next ski season brings with it a completely renewed experience.

This location is about 20 minutes away from downtown Truckee and 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe. There is a separate members entrance away from the main hotel. Upon arrival we met our valet Daniel. He took our bags and met us up at our room. Marcella provided excellent customer service upon check in and was very helpful, welcoming and informative. There are three choices for members to select- two bedrooms, three bedrooms and four bedrooms which all include a kitchen with Viking appliances (Fridge, Dishwasher, Microwave), a dining room, living room, washer and dryer, and each bedroom has their own desk area and master suite bath room with heated floors. Each of the bathrooms are stocked with Bvlgari soaps and shampoos. They also have a gym with state of the art equipment, bottled water in the fridge and headphones. If you are booked for spa appointments do note that the club residences are quite a hike and on the opposite end of the property in relation to the spa which is located in the hotel. If you have allergies (like I do) feel free to request a feather free room. The housekeeping staff was amazing- attentive without being intrusive. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this Ritz Carlton Destination Property. There are two types of memberships for the Ritz Carlton properties: 1. Portfolio Membership 2. Home Club Membership Out of the two the Portfolio Membership provides greater travel ability to enjoy the different properties. The Home Club Membership is a good option for those who have a favorite place that they like to vacation to yearly. The beds didn't have a down alternative which made sleeping uncomfortable but I was assured they would be ordering a down alternative for those with down feather allergies. What would have made this a five star experience would have been the lack of rudeness my husband and I experienced from Nancy in the concierge office. This Ritz Carlton Destination Club is perfect for those who love to ski and be outdoors. This property is almost two years old and is just lovely.
