It's funny seeing the negative reviews on here. Once again, I am in an alternative simulation as I had a wonderful experience using this company. Lack of communications, billed for things without approval, overcharging, encouraging sub-contractors to up their bids, damaged personal belongings, CEO signed agreement the afterwards told me that he was taking time off to do a surgery, nobody was in charge. When he showed up on site, he was jacked up on pain meds and he's driving a car on his own to a job site???? When his son showed up he has no clue what to do and promised the world and failed. If you have a loved one that dies in the house and it needs to be sold, maybe they would be a good customer, but for us living, go somewhere else. A friend recommended that I consider Renovation Realty to help me prepare my 35 year old house for sale this year. I met with Griffin and Zora in early autumn and they made a compelling case that every $1.00 I invested in home renovation would pay $1.50 in added value. My review is coming from the other side of using Renovation Realty. I bought a house that was listed by Renovation Realty. They put $200,000 worth of renovations into this house. It has beautiful bathrooms, a modern kitchen, new flooring, new carpets, new paint, the whole shebang. They do a really nice job of their renovations and it is the reason we bought this house. It looks so good! The reason I am writing this review is because of the follow-up work that they have done for us. Renovation Realty has a 1-year warranty on workmanship. Their renovations are great but when a house is being renovated as quickly as possible to sell, some things get missed along the way. This is where I was really impressed. There was an outdoor light fixture that wasn't connected to the switch. I called Renovation Realty and was put in direct contact with Griffin who is the owner and oversees construction. He had an electrician out the next day to connect the light. I mentioned that a couple of the bedroom doors were scraping on the new carpet that was installed. Griffin had someone come over a couple of days later to shave down the doors. One of the shower doors needed to be adjusted because the glass was making noise when opening and shutting it. Griffin had someone come out the next day to adjust it. I have never dealt with a company or contractor who has been so responsive and actually follows through. Just to be clear, they will only come and fix things that they have worked on. They do not charge for these fixes. Do not hesitate to buy a house from Renovation Realty. We recently bought a house that Renovation Realty worked on prior to the property being listed. They basically renovated the entire interior of the home. Overall, they did a decent job, but there are a number of minor things that we would've had them fix had we been the ones who originally hired them to do the work. These include things like: - Misaligned cabinetry, handles and drawers - Split cabinetry due to screws - Chipped cabinetry - Misaligned countertop backsplash - not fixing things that are not to code like the staircase railing not being kid-safe - Poor caulking job - Warped closet doors which are supposedly new - Documented work didn't match what was done. For example, they said they installed two dual-flush toilets but there was only one. I get how their main draw is probably the all inclusive service of renovating and selling the home all in one go which is a lot easier than hiring specialized contractors. However, it seems like there's a bit of a sacrifice on quality when you go this more efficient route. Normally, we would've pushed back on all of these fixes, but in this crazy housing market, we didn't want to take the chance of annoying the seller since these are generally very minor things. read more

In early 2023 we hired renovation realty to renovate my mother-in-law's house in San Carlos San Diego. The house was roughly 70 years old and was in need of significant upgrades and a full remodel. Prior to hiring renovation realty we met with them and reviewed a very nicely organized three-ring binder with all the details of what they would do how they would do it to improve the value of the house and to increase our net payout. The presentation was very professional and there were extensive details on the whole process. Once we agreed to hire them, they provided a very detailed statement of work and had a construction crew at the home site within 2 weeks. Renovation realty stated that because of the extensive nature of the remodel it would take 60 days to complete. There was not a single part of the house that was untouched except the walls. And after 60 days they did finish on time which astounded us. Throughout the renovation process we had full support from Keith Christian the CEO and his son Griffin. We were assigned a project manager, Rick Comrie, fully understands customer service and kept the project on track. Once the house was ready for showing a seamlessly hired a professional photographer crew to get great pictures of the house including drone shots. They also, without a hiccup, had the house staged. We then started working with the renovation realty realtor, Zora Urieff, steady hand, guidance, marketing of the house pay dividends in a full price sale within 10 days. If all this wasn't enough they then switched a transaction coordinator into the picture, Alicia Braun, who coordinated our journey through escrow. Renovation realty is a rip off! They are known to scam Home Owners by offering renovation services that they mark up a high percent of the Renovation and then if they don't sell your home you still have to pay 2.5% commission. Buyer beware do not utilize their services. They make promises that they will market your home to potential buyers but that is not their goal, the goal is to get you to renovate your home for a high percent. Recently bought a home in San Diego county that Renovation Realty had worked on. They did a cosmetic upgrade to the kitchen of a 40-odd year home and perhaps a little other work around the house. The appliances they used, although cosmetically ok, are either old or defective. Style is not great but not terrible. Material seems second-hand and is substandard craftsmanship. What really irks me though is that they didn't address even minor things throughout the house to bring it up to code. There are big safety and efficiency issues. It just doesn't make sense to me that a renovation company wouldn't be able to cost-effectively deal with these issues. Any work they did seems like the cheapest cosmetic stuff they could change to have the home show better. They did not pull permits for any work that they did. The home we purchased is old but has good bones. We overpaid with a very generous offer. Renovation Reality left debris, didn't maintain the yard or pool, so now we're moving into a very expensive home that has an algae-filled pool and an overgrown lawn. The seller agent was difficult to work with and had left dirty dishes in the house after we were in escrow. In my opinion, renovation realty is an unprofessional business and I'd hope that if you're a prospective seller that you'd find a different business to work with. This is you're home and you should take pride in it. Renovation Realty does not share this value. read more

Having successfully invested in Real Estate for 30 years, I realized my very large massive ocean view home in Point Loma was likely valued at the top of the market. Update after 18 months owning the home: I had to get an electrician out 3 times in the past year to fix inoperable electrical outlets and light fixtures. Each time, the electrician commented that he was surprised anyone would renovate the house without upgrading the electrical. As noted earlier, the electrical work was not to code. The ceiling fan in the bedroom shorted out and left a burn mark on the ceiling (see photo). And the kitchen was completely remodeled with new cabinets, but they were apparently "ready to assemble" and every single drawer assembled WITHOUT GLUE OR STAPLES! Over the past year, the kitchen cabinet drawers started coming apart and this is how we discovered that the cabinets were slapped together with the minimum effort, no glue, no staples, bare minimum required to get the drawers to slide in the tracks. I have lived in the home for 5 years, and it has become obvious that they are low budget, max profit flippers. My granite countertops were never sealed, and now have a major crack in them. My shower pan was not seated correctly and now pops as you move around in it. The grout in my shower cracked. The Renovation Realty rep told me the tub in my other bathroom was new, nope. Just painted. Now I am just coming into a new nightmare, the pool the was "replastered" is breaking down and is going to cost me several thousand to actually fix. If you buy through them, make sure your home inspector know to look close, and make them fix everything. Or find another home..... We used Renovation Realty to help us salvage and sell our family home, which had been rented by tenants who abused the property. During our initial meeting, which included the project presentation, Keith Christian (general manager) and Griffin Christian (director of construction) explained to us that after walking though the property, they would be able to renovate and list our home in a month's time. They presented us with a 3-ring binder with everything pertinent to the renovations and selling of our beloved home including estimated costs based on what they saw, comps of the neighborhood, and color photos to show what changes they were going to make to the house from previous jobs so we could get a visual understanding. Griffin walked us though a detailed PowerPoint of the property and showed us all the things that were to be addressed. After that meeting we decided to have them renovate our home. We were very happy that they had a clear plan, a specific timeline and already had a construction team ready to start. We had a lot of questions that Keith and Griffin patiently answered. Thankfully for our situation there was nothing that required pulling a permit. As an additional variable, CoVid had hit but we were only at the "no shaking hands" phase. We discussed the potential of worst-case scenario during our meeting. Griffin explained that he was already aware of supply chain delays hitting the construction industry but assured us that his crew, who lived near our home coincidently, would still be able to stay on his projected timeline. Any supplies they would need were either already in their possession or were locally accessible. There was no way to know how our state would fare in the proceeding weeks but Keith and Griffin were already prepared and the completion of our home was on time. Incredible foresight on their part and surely a sign of seasoned professionals prepared for worst-case scenarios. Unbeknownst to Renovation Realty and compounded by the increasing dangers and restrictions of CoVid, our family suffered a great loss. One of the pillars of our family passed due to a swift and aggressive cancer. We were shell-shocked at the loss. Thankfully, because Renovation Realty was so thorough with their project projections, they didn't need us to do anything while they worked. They had planned for everything. If something popped us during construction, for example we had a roof leak that appeared during construction only because of an unusually rainy week. This business is a joke I called them for an evaluation they took my number and never got back to me so called them again and spoke to them again and the did exactly the same thing and never got back with me about my home . I am just letting people know this ... they sure know how to fake advertising their business but they are not good with running their business and I am amazed how they stay in business probably steal people money who knows... read more

Our realtor, Zora Urieff, was very professional and helpful in not only selling our existing home but in finding our new home. She was available at all hours and able to answer all of our questions. She had a very pleasant personality and was liked by all of the members of my family. I would definitely recommend her for anyone looking to buy or sell their home. I just bought into a condo that was renovated by this company and they did a half-way job renovating. There is a marble overhang from the counter that is sloping and about to fall off the wall. The kitchen sink hoses for faucets were reversed so I have to turn the lever to the right to get hot water and to the left to get cold. When it should be the opposite. They left chips in the bathroom sink and the tub that they did a paint overspray rather than cleaning or replacing the tub. Carpet tacks are sticking out the carpet when entering the bedrooms. In some places of walls, you can tell they only did one coat of paint because the original color can still be seen through the white paint. No wonder they had me sign a waiver half way through the escrow process. If you find that a place you're buying into has been renovated by this company, back out of the offer. This place has become a money pit so far. read more

BUYERS BEWARE! We purchased a home from Renovation Realty in March of 2016. It was sold as a 3/2 with the second bathroom being added by Renovation Realty. A couple of months ago we were in the middle of a refinance and found out that they never followed through on the permitting of the bathroom, now making our home (legally) a 3/1. We had to back out of our refi because the value of the home is almost $50k less without that permitted second bathroom. When we found out about the issue I immidiatley called RR. I left a message twice for someone to call me. After 2 weeks of nobody calling me back, I left a third message and finally received a call back. I spoke with Ed and he assured me that this was their mistake, and explained that the project manager on for my house didn't fix what the city inspector noticed on the final walkthrough, and the permit had expired. He told me they were going to correct everything and that I would be " taken care of" They came out with an inspector that walked them through everything he had told them to fix prior to them selling us the home. A week later a crew of 4 came into the house to fix/repair what the city inspector required them to do. After they were done they left behind pieces of wire and parts in my babies room, they drilled into the walls and left the debris for us to clean up. Needless to say I wasn't impressed. I was promised that they would come back the next week with the inspector to try and finalize the bathroom. It's been over two weeks and I haven't heard from anyone! I have emailed Keith twice with no response back. The last email I received from him was him asking what I was seeking for compensation. I told him all I wanted was what was fair, and that I would rather not take this to court. I even offered to have them do the work around the house that we were going to use the money for, which now seems idiotic given their work standards. We are out the difference a 3/1 versus a 3/2, as well as the difference of the interest rate that has now gone up. I was promised by both Ed and Keith that this was going to be taken care of but we have now had to hire a lawyer to force them to do what is right. I am just thankful we found this out a year later instead of years down the road when were trying to sell this house. I would not trust this company and would think twice before you purchase a home from them. read more
