We recently had an accident requiring us to rent a car quickly and I chose this company because of proximity to where we'd been towed. The representative we initially spoke with was extremely sympathetic and helpful, a bright light in an otherwise bad day. They gave me a good price and were happy to renegotiate it when it became clear we'd need the vehicle much longer than initially thought. All in all a great experience. Had been using this service for 17 years, ever since I moved out of state and visited once or twice a year. Bad experience with the owner this time around. Rental agents have always been friendly with great customer service. Owner just the opposite. Made a snap decision to charge for metal in the tire when their dashboard indicator which advised them that the tire pressure is low is not user friendly and I did not see any indication on the dashboard. I was interested in renting a car every month for 2 weeks per month to use to travel for work around the state and nearby areas. I said I would guarantee them the repeat business if they could offer me a good price for a full size car. Got the price, told me what car would be available for me when I went in, all was looking good. The day I arrive, the car I was told would be there for me is not available and instead I would have to take the Jeep Renegade they had on the lot, the only vehicle available - not what I was looking for but at this point I had literally no option. I was told I could exchange it if I chose to do so. So I paid for the 2 week rental including a $350 hold on my credit card. Within a few days, I called to switch the car and was run through the ringer with questions and "uh's and ums" by Sam. I spoke to Adriana a few days later, who is one of the managers, and she ensured me that I would be taken care of and that I would have a VW Jetta and a RAV4 available to choose from when I came in to exchange cars. The morning of the exchange, I received a call saying "the Jetta is all ready for you". When I asked about the RAV4, another lady "Rose" had gotten on the phone who told me she'd have to charge me more for the RAV4 (but not less for the Jetta). I reiterated the agreement that we entered in to for a full-size car and she responded with "ya know, I try to give people a good deal and it turns around and bites me in the ass". Mind you, there was nothing but pleasant responses from me - just confusion and attempts to understand the situation. I explained that I wasn't mad at all, but simply cannot drive the Renegade for long periods due to the issues I deal with (spinal surgery in 2020, neck issues, etc. The Jeep was extremely uncomfortable, but that's a different review). Long story short, my wife used the rental car I paid all this money for while I took my personal car on the road to make sales calls. Spend the extra money elsewhere and get what you pay for along with quality customer service. read more

They give u garbage cars, I reserved a compact car which was supposed to be a 2014 kia but they gave me a garbage 2008 chev ! They didn't accept my insurance either and had to pay 13 dollars extra each day. The car was awful but I had no other option, I took it for one day then I went to enterprise and get a Rio 2014 for a better price. Will not go to them never in my life. read more

We were in a car accident on a Saturday evening. (Note: this is a terrible time if you then need to rent a car!) The next morning we called Rent a Wreck after seeing what the other companies were going to charge for a week of rental. Literally highway robbery! Ten minutes after placing the call we had secured a nice car at a great price. The staff was friendly and helpful and got us out and on our way quickly. If I ever need to rent in this area again, I will call them. You are not going to get high end brand new cars here, but you shouldn't have expected it based on the name. Not so pleasant experience. Put in a request for a cargo van rental for the Morristown location last week. Dover location called and said I shoud come to them. Got my van Tuesday morning, it smelt strange - aired it out, no luck. Rental office was responsive, swapped the van out for me. My loss - time. Wed night, started getting calls from the office, to get the van in by 8am on Thursday - due in time was 9:41AM. I said, I will try, but cannot promise. It is thursday morning, and I just got another call - somebody tried to convince me (1) that they thought it was an overnight rental only - how is that possible, the contract says due in 8/22 9:41AM? (2) to returning it in at 8am. I said I would try, but I lost a couple of hours on Tuesday because of the smelly van, and still have some chores left to do - I got attitude from the person on the phone! Next time, I will pay the extra money and deal with the better "poor quality service" from u-haul! read more

I've rented a mini van from this rent-a-wreck location twice now, and both times had no issues with the reservation or customer service. Everyone I spoke to on the phone and worked with in person was courteous and helpful, and the pre-check of the car was thorough. The minivan we rented was an older Honda, don't expect a brand new car like at the major car rental companies. But the car was clean and ran well both times. The hours are more flexible than Enterprise and we definitely saved some money! read more

Nice people to do business with. Very helpful lady on the phone gave me suggestions for where, what, and how to rent to maximize value. Needed to move a queen-size bed and a custom-built desk. Was recommended into a cargo van which easily swallowed the queen bed (with angled mattress and box spring) and desk with plenty of space left over. Was suggested into a slightly higher rental rate with maximum free mileage per day. Used every one of the free miles. Van was clean and thoroughly inspected for minor dents prior to my renting. Pick-up and drop-off were fast and friendly. What more could you want? read more

Trish and the crew in Dover always take good care of me even though I moved from closeby to their location to Madison. As my rental needs are almost strictly on the weekends, I have rented about 10 times from them for business needs. They are prompt with check-in, always smiling, prices are competitive and their hours (a popular branch down the street from me is not open sundays - i don't need to keep a car/van for an extra day because they cater more to a insurance claim/repair client!) are great. Rented a sedan. Beware of the gas gage when renting! make sure the employee and yourself are in agreement. I was hit with a surcharge (only found out when my credit card bill arrived) because they thought more gas was in the car when I left. read more
