I wasn't sure what I was walking into, when I entered Renys. Mom and I were looking for something to do between our stops and Renys was there, so we popped in. They had a great selection of shoes and a decent variety of men's and ladies clothes. Unfortunately, the men's and the ladies were lacking a variety of sizes throughout their lines. Their clothing prices seemed a bit high to me. The shoes were decently priced, if they had your size. There were a lot of miscellaneous home, office and holiday items, but I didn't find anything worth purchasing. They had a decent snack/food area, but the pricing was no deal and the things could be found in any grocery store. The store was a good place to waste time, not sure if it would be a destination that I would need to return to. read more

Decent variety store selling seasonal items year round. It's neat and organized and just about all their merchandise is offered at fair prices. If you're vacationing in the area and you forgot to pack something, there is a good chance this store may offer something you need........plus a little more. I can't take a trip to my parents' house in Kennebunk w/o hitting Reny's. I've been shopping at Reny's since the late '90s when at the time I lived in Rockland, ME. You can find their stores all over Maine. They have everything...clothing, hardware, cookware, small appliances, specialty foods, art supplies, games, sheets, bath towels, camping gear...you name it, they likely have it. I love going the day after Christmas for steals on Christmas wrapping paper, cards, boxes, food tins, etc. The people who work there are really friendly. The store is laid out nicely and organized. Reny's tends to be a hit or miss for me. This is more of a chain geared toward tourists rather than locals. If you are looking for some Maine souvenirs, this is your place to visit. They have everything you could think of from clothing, to trinkets, to food items that are Maine themed. They do carry some large named brands which I quite like, such as Carhartt. In addition to the brand names, they also carry a lot of items that you would call "junk store" products. Think items that are carried at Marden's, Ocean State Job Lot, Big Lots, Dollar General, Dollar Tree etc. Some items are a bit over priced, while others are a steal. I love this damn store! It's like a Big Lots or Ocean State Job Lot from Western Mass. where I'm from. Reny's is much nicer, and sells better quality items though. Huge clothing section, including great prices on Carharrtt clothes. Everything from Kitchen, bath, toys, food, outdoor, garden, seasonal, camping, sports, etc. The only store like it in the area. Definitely a great place to get all of the beach supplies we forgot to pack at an afternoon price.

Anything you could ever possibly want for way less than you'd expect to pay for it. My mother and I went to every other store in Wells searching for a large picture frame, and finally found it at Renny's for about 1/4 of the price we were expecting. On top of picture frames, they have sporting goods, bed linens, towels, clothing, inflatable pool/beach toys, canned goods and everything in between. Let's just say that it was a miracle I got my mother out of there without her purchasing more than the picture frame. Great place for random items for cheap. read more

I will never forget Reny's - not only were they kind enough to give me my first summer job where everyone was lovely and patient, they let me pop the balloons on the last day I was there, and gave me an adorable Elvis pez dispenser set that I had been eyeing all summer. This is the Wells location of this famed Maine department store. The selection here is okay. I have yet to explore many of the Reny's stores, so my experience is limited. Reny's seems to be good for random items that you are willing to take seconds or discontinued versions of. I'm not sure you can really come here with a list per se. You just kind of come here and see what strikes your fancy in some category of item you're looking for. Reny's also seems to be very good for particular "Maine" lifestyle items...i.e. things to help you deal with the elements/cold. Slightly lower prices on things like rubber boots, fleece jackets and winter hats. Pros: Low prices, variety of items (clothes to candy bars), winter clothes, convenient location right off Route 1 and next to a Hannaford (you can get other shopping done!) Cons: Some of the goods are seconds or may be weird sizes/colors. read more

A maine adventure. It gets very busy in the summer and they close early. They have great deals on random things with tons of clothing, some from great brands. They have toys and nonperishable foods as wells as everything else you can think of... beach items, camping goods, toiletries, linens, and everything else. Don't judge a book by its cover--I thought this was a sporting goods store, but it has so much more than that! Great bathing suit prices. Excellent selection of toys & games including eco-friendly options. My only criticism is the large number of toy guns & knives--some of them look pretty scary. Reny's is Maine's discount and closeout store. They sell a little bit of everything, all at decent prices. They also have a lot of Columbia, woolrich and Carhatt clothing. When in Maine I love to stop in and poke around and usually walk out with some good deals. If you are a bargain shopper, it's worth a stop. read more
