Large garbage left a 2x4 with nails in it, in the street behind my car. I couldn't see it while in the car, and backed over it popping my tire. I called Republic. The operator was very polite and sent a man to my house to collect more information and take pictures. I filed a claim, but was DENIED, because the truck driver said he didn't remember leaving a piece of wood on my street! I don't care if the driver remembers it or not, it still happened!!!!!!!!! I have been with Republic for 22 years. I have never had a problem. Yesterday I noticed my bill increased by $16.33. I called and was informed I am not linger getting the discount rate. For some reason it was deleted. I have discounts on all my utilities since my income is below average. They are saying my Smud discount is no longer in effect. This is not true I am looking at my latest bill and it shows the care discount. So because of their mistake I have to go through all this BS to have my bill go back to normal with my discount. This is one of the most unethical companies I've had to deal with. We have repeatedly been told a local rep will contact us . We have repeatedly left voicemails that we would like to cancel service for more than 4-5 months at this point and still have not been able to do so. I can't understand how they don't have a class action law suit Upon further investigation, we discovered some troubling facts that I wish to share: Communication Issues: Despite various forms of communication to cancel the service, Republic Services only logged one communication from approximately a month ago, which is unacceptable given our previous attempts. We discovered an email sent on May 15th, three months ago, requesting to cancel the service, which went unanswered nor were we informed at the time in any way that we were under contract. One-Sided Contract: We were appalled to find that we had signed a three-year contract shortly after purchasing the property. The contract appears overwhelmingly one-sided and was signed by us hastily under the pressure of retaining the bins on site. Lengthy Contract Terms: Republic Services locks customers into 36-month contracts, requiring a 60-day advance notice to cancel, a certified termination letter, a return receipt and confirmation the certified letter was received by Republic Services. In our contract failure to comply results in automatic renewal for an additional 12 months. The termination process is unnecessarily complex and burdensome for customers. Rate Adjustments: The contract permits Republic Services to increase rates at any time to offset their costs, putting customers at a significant disadvantage. This provision is highly unethical and raises questions about fair business practices. Overcharging and Documentation: We were charged for an alleged 1.5 extra yards based on an image of an overfilled 2-yard bin, which we find dubious and concerning considering the image they sent us as documentation. Exorbitant Billing: Our current bill has reached a staggering $465 for one month of service, which is unjustifiable given the services provided. Given the severity of these concerns, I am open to providing further details via email to anyone interested. Additionally, I would like to explore the possibility of a class-action suit to address these issues collectively. I've been a customer of Republic Services in Rancho Cordova for several years now and the service quality has really gone downhill. The garbage truck drivers are extremely reckless, speeding through the neighborhood, blowing through stop signs, and driving in a very unsafe manner. When they pick up the cans, they are often careless and end up spilling trash and debris all over the street. It's a mess that I then have to clean up. The drivers don't seem to care at all about the impact of their actions. To make matters worse, the cost of service has skyrocketed. I have the smallest size cans and am now paying over $59 every two months. This is an exorbitant price for the poor level of service I'm receiving. Unfortunately, Republic Services has a monopoly on providing trash pickup in Rancho Cordova since they signed an exclusive 10-year contract with the city in 2014 to provide these services. The contract was recently extended for another 5 years in 2024. Switching to a different company in theory would be nice but it's not an option in our locale. According to the contract, if Republic Services fails to comply with the terms, it automatically renews for an additional 12 months. The termination process is unnecessarily complicated, making it very difficult for the city to switch providers even if they wanted to. Many other customers have had similarly poor experiences with Republic Services. On Reddit, one user said "Republic Services is literal garbage" and complained about frequent missed pickups, poor customer service, and price gouging. Another user shared "I can't stand republic. They bought my local company. Missed pickups at least once a month. I'd call and get some call center in maybe WV and they'd tell me they would put in a ticket and have someone by in 5-6 days." I'm very disappointed in Republic Services and would not recommend them to anyone in the Rancho Cordova area. It's time for them to improve their driver training, implement better quality control, and provide more reasonable pricing to customers. For over 7 years since I've lived in Rancho Cordova, Republic did a great job of picking up my leaves that I piled at the curb. However, they appear to have changed their leaf pickup policy to require that leaves be bagged, for no practical reason. This doubles the work I have to do and makes the pickup service nearly pointless for me, this year. Now I have a pile of leaves in the street that I can't get rid of, and they're soaking wet from the storm, so I can't bag them easily. Their customer service members were not helpful and repeatedly interrupted me on the phone when I tried to explain the problem and find a solution to this. I'm not happy that I have no choice in waste services, but at least I can look forward to Atlas taking this service contract next year. read more

Today I get an email from the collections department demanding a final payment. I'm enrolled in paperless billing and never received a bill. I also set up autopay when I started the service so I wouldn't have to worry about missing a payment. There isn't an issue with my card. Other services that I have an autopay didn't have an issue posting a charge. I searched my inbox and the only email I have from Republic is from their collections department. The collections department didn't seem to have an issue contacting me so why were they unable to send me my bill? Unacceptable. read more

Missed pickups every week for 12 years (we have multipole locations) No credits for missing, drivers driving right by and not picking up. The list goes on and on. We used this service for over 15 years. When we needed to cancel they basically ignored our request. When we asked to talk to the "account manager" on a Monday morning at 7 am right when they opened to correct the billing they conveniently have not called us back within 48 hours. It's now late Thursday afternoon and still no phone call or correction for their billing mistake. We have called multiple times and they just shove you off to the non existent "account manager". This company is charging me for services I am not receiving When we first moved in to our new house, the house came with 4 cans. I wanted to get rid or exchange some of these cans, so we would have 3 (1 each) of a select size. After weeks of fighting with them over the phone, we eventually ended up with 6 cans, which is comically incompetent. Finally, we get that resolved, I move on, no further service needed -- but an annoying 2 month ordeal. Flash forward 2 years, we come to one month ago. I wanted to exchange my trash can to a larger size, as our household needs have increased. Should be a very simple thing to do. I'm told to put out my can for the following pickup, they will pick it up, and then drop off the larger can. They fail to do this very simple task. I call them, try to get it resolved. We end up re-doing the same thing, and again they do not do this very simple task. So, I call them again. This time, the person on the phone is rude before I'm even able to begin explaining what I need. I tell him that I'm concerned that I will be charged for the larger can that I requested weeks ago even though I haven't received a can. He even says he will give me a $10 credit for the hassle. Now, I get my bill. I am being charged $20 extra for the larger can size, which I never even received and still haven't received. Also, on my calendar, it shows that I am no longer scheduled for any trash pick ups any more, only yard and recycling. Is there even one single competent employee at this business? I have phone repair business I barely use trash in my shop but I like to have trash can Justin case I chose every two weeks minimum which cost me $83 I was happy after few month the charge amount keep changing , they charge me $171 , $288 I called and they can't do anything about it they keep saying manager give you call which is never ever happened , now they charge organic recycle which is my business doesn't have any type food and they blame on city .after being call and talk to two person on phone still they can answer my question why am I charge extra in my contract bill was $80 not $180 ,even with waiver of city!!! so, who is respond to that. if I stop and not paying, they screw my credit, I have contract until next year that be ridiculous, and I can't even cancel it. this is really harmful we can do anything about. read more

We have been customers of Republic for years but enough is enough! Multiple missed pickups at many of our locations. One driver just drives by so their GPS puts them in the location, but they don't actually stop and do the job. We have pickup three times a week and one is often missed. Another time my cart was broken and upon next service day they came by with a brand new cart and took old broken cart away. I've used "bulky" service day at my house and EVERYTHING was removed from curbside!! I've used the "Free" dump service @ Elder Creek Transfer station and had no issues whatsoever. I was downgrading my service from 2 trash cans to 1. The day that they were supposed to pick up the second can, they didn't show up. So I rescheduled for the following week...and they didn't show up again. I called and told them my HOA would start charging for the can to be out at the street and that I would pass on the bill to them. They came out that day and picked up the can. Then, today, on my normal trash day, they took my remaining can! Now I have none. I called them and they "just can't understand" what happened. The earliest they can deliver a new can is in a week. The service is horrible, I've asked numerous time to bring larger containers, knowing it costs more per month. It has been almost 3 months and no larger container has been brought, today my current size container plus my only recycles container was picked up, but no replacement. I called it right away, tried to speak to a supervisor, but no one is available of course. Ever since my town has switched to Republic Services I have had a horrible time with my pickups. My recycles and yard waste are almost skipped every week. When I call to setup a missed pickup, they sometimes come out for those. Talking to their customer service they accuse me of not having my cans out and want me to pay extra for pickups. I never had this problem when the town used the last company. I even tried leaving my cans out all week and they still say they are not there. Do not use this company! They will try and charge you extra for them to do pickups they didn't do the first time and blame you for why they are not coming out for pickups. **Update** Still after 9 months I can't get my garbage picked up reliably. I was ripped of by this company for overcharged on miss pick ups. They are little cheaper but at after overcharged they will cost lot more at the end. I had three stores business with them, called there supervisor for 2 months, no response related billing issues and service issues and once I emailed them to pick up there garbage bins they started to respond and started bullying to charge me for service they didn't provide and it's been 4 weeks they haven't picked up there dumpster bins so they can charge me. This year is to the point where customer service doesn't return my calls and customer service reps literally hang up on me when I call to tell them they have missed a pickup. When I'm able to talk to someone to get answers on an accurate pickup date, they avoid the question. I've also asked to talk to my account manager so I can cancel my account and still get no call back even though it's been weeks. There's some internal stuff going on, and it's reflected with the customer service team. 10/10 Would NOT recommend, specially for businesses! Ps. 4/2/2020: Very disappointed with Republic Services. I called 2 weeks ago to have some bulky stuff removed - broken treadmill, 2 shower doors and one worn out painting with frame. They told me to put out the bulky stuff on the 2nd, in which I did. I come home and it's still out there. I called Republic Services and the lady didn't even have me scheduled for April 2nd and they stopped picking up bulky stuff because of the coronavirus. This is unacceptable service, you don't tell a customer that you will have something picked up on a certain day and then not do it. Now I have to move all the junk back into my garage. Republic has missed picking up the recycle and the garbage dumpsters for 4 wks now. Their excuse is no drivers available. I've lived here since 2015 and this is the 1st time (September & October 2021) that the garbage dumpsters have not been routinely picked up on a weekly basis. I'm living in an HOA community that includes garbage service fees as part of our monthly dues but the Board's hands are tied. When they start the first service in my Sacramento area about last 7 years they have sell representative to deal with us low prices but a couple years later they raised the price more and more with low quality of service. Brace yourselves, this is a long one...previous tenant had services set up for the property for disposal of manure (and other trash) as they were operating a horse boarding facility. When my husband and I moved here we had the services transferred to myself since we have a horse and some other animals and the waste is too much for regular trash service. Bi-weekly pickup for about $95.00 a month, great! Then the STUPID California law change and now we have two additional bins on the property for organic waste and recycle. When I received the email notifying of the change in law it specified for customers receiving weekly pickup, since we are on a bi-weekly schedule I assumed we would not be required to have the bins. But, here they are. When my bill jumped to over $260.00 for the additional bins, we called customer service about a month ago to figure out what we need to do. We were told, "Oh! You don't need those bins! We'll pick those up as soon as possible and credit your account back." Awesome! Here we are a month later and now my bill is over $900.00. So we call customer service again, same thing. We'll pick them up tomorrow and credit your account! And were told that the $900.00 must be some kind of error because she saw the bill as only $260.00. This is when I remembered I still had the emails from the rep that set up the service for me so I thought I'd email him too to look into the issue for reassurance. Instead I was informed we have to have the bins and the customer service reps were wrong. He also included in the email a vague "breakdown" of the bill. 260 ish for last month, 600 something for this month. I am beyond angry at the fact we sat around while a bill accumulated to such an ASTOUNDING amount waiting for an issue to be resolved that never would due to poor customer care. Had we known about this ahead of time we would have cancelled the service a month ago. $90 a month and suddenly over $600?! How in the hell does that even happen!!!!!
