I would strongly discourage using this company. The customer service is horrendous. After a year of using them, we have had enough. We moved into our hour July 2017. Initially, they told us it would take a while to have the previous owner's accounts disconnected from ours. Months later I was still receiving their bills. After calling multiple times, they finally agreed to do something about it. Unbeknownst to me, they removed ME from the account instead of the previous owner. After calling many more times and finally reaching someone who could help, they told me we owed $141 and our bill is 5 days past due. They never sent a bill and I couldn't access my account due to their error, yet they wouldn't give me an extension on our bill. I've since canceled our services and am going elsewhere. Steer clear of this company. UPDATE: After having my service "cancelled" I received a call that my account was 30 days past due, 11 days after my "bill" was due. I then had to spend another 30 minutes of my time on the phone with this company trying to get someone to help me correct this. Every single person I have spoken to points the blame at everyone else, and yet, the customer still suffers due to their incompetence. Just cancelled after 10 years of being a customer. The company is a fraud. Please do NOT use this service! The rate has been going up without any notice. I was charged $112 just to close the account that included a late fee for the 3 pro-rated month that were added after I called to cancel. Spent an hour on the phone with the billing that could not explained why I am being charged $342.14 even thought the service has been cancelled and a late fee is being added. The same bill also showed that both contained have already been recovered. read more

I recently learned that Republic Services was charging us 3 times as much as competitors in our area ($250/quarter). When I called to discuss it, I was told my cost could be reduced to $80/qtr. When I asked why I had been charged the excessive amount for so long, I was told that "sometimes the automated system increases prices over time, but I'm not sure why" by the person I was speaking with. read more

Recycling pick up missed 3 out if the last 4 weeks. Multiple calls and "online customer service" either promise " maybe tomorrow" or go unanswered. Prices are higher than others and customer service is not included. read more

This has got to be the most crooked business I have ever done business with. They don't tell you when you sign up that there is an added "Fuel / Environmental Recovery" fee added to your bill each quarter. And it increases each quarter with no rhyme or reason to the amount. Neighbors that use the same service may pay less or more than you do. The last bill had my added fee at $35 while the guy 8 houses down from me had to pay almost $60. Then when you discontinue the service, they charge you $36 each to pick up their totes, plus a "Fuel / Environmental Recovery Fee" for the gas to send a pickup truck to get the totes...which you aren't allowed to drop off yourself at their location. It cost me $110 to discontinue my service!!!! RUN away from this company. Their rates are 3 times higher than anyone else in town and are the most dishonest company you have ever done business with. read more

Everything you see in the other reviews are exactly the case here, hidden fee increases, missed pick ups, and trying to hit you with everything they can when you quit. Despite talking with consumer service several time they wouldn't refund the gas and environmental fees (my new place doesnt change those) for the 3 months of service I didnt use, charged 37 to retrieve a recycling can I never asked for and they only brought because their people kept missing my house. We had Republic Services here in Champaign, IL for several years before recently canceling with them due to price increases (50% over 2 years) and inconsistent service. We have received a bill for $105 for their picking up the garbage tote. We believe this to be unreasonable. read more

Reliable service. The cost keeps bumping up little by little. I recently requested a replacement for a recycle container of mine (not one they issued because I never got one) they broke. The came and took away my large 90 gallon tote and replaced it with a much smaller one but no recycle container. read more

We use these guys for our roll off dumpsters for our business and for our office as well. They are really competitive in price and have good customer service. The only issue we have had was ordering the dumpsters for a certain date and them not showing up until a day or two later. They always give a hefty discount though if they make any mistakes. read more

My recycling container was not emptied on Wed, our regular day. I called and was told a truck malfunctioned and the pick up would be Thurs or Fri. No pick up on Fri so I called again and was told it would be picked up by 7. Guess what? It's Saturday and the container is still full. I finally brought it back up because it got dumped twice. Of course no one is available because of the holiday. Guess what else again. I am switching to Illini. read more

I moved to a new house in Devon PA and signed up with Republic for trash pick up. First they billed me more that double the amount and thankfully I checked the bill! They gave me a credit, right away, but they can't seem to get our trash pick up right!! they changed the pick up day on December 1st and have not gotten it right- EVER!! I have to call each week to tell them they missed our recycles or both trash and recycles. I know they are cheaper than the 'other guys' out there, but they are a horrible! I cannot believe that they are still in business. read more

They have been steadily raising their prices without improving service at all. I finally called to cancel service and spoke to a pleasant employee who was very helpful. He calculated what I owed, gave me my final pick up date and the date I could expect my bins to be removed. Imagine my surprise when the next month I not only received a bill, but was charged late fees! I immediately called to dispute these charges - not only am I not getting any service, but I don't even have any of their property, so what exactly am I being charged for? I spent half an hour on hold before I finally gave in to the option of "saving my place in line and getting a call back." I'm still waiting for that return call. I think they count on the fact that people are busy and have jobs so can't call to complain about their terrible business practices. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! read more

Inconsistent, and over priced, and yes their price keeps going up. They missed picking up my container several times in the past 2 months. The most recent issue was missing my trash two weeks in a row. That's with me calling them every day. No one answers the phone locally, they answer from out of the state. Honestly save yourself so much hassle by finding other services. read more

The trash is always picked up efficiently and promptly. However, the lack of more stars is because of the recycling service. It used to be reliable but last several weeks they don't come and when you call they say they will come tomorrow, well it is now tomorrow at almost 6pm and they still haven't come. This seems to be a pattern lately, maybe employees quit but it would be nice to be told the truth. read more

They increased charge every year and the charge became 2 or 3 times higher than market value. When I called to cancel, they charged $36 for container removal. I felt angry because of the these unexpected charges! Glad to get rid of their service! read more

Stopped service in June. I get charged $95 for bin removal ($33 per can plus environmental, admistrative, fuel cost, etc charges). Ouch. Now I am being served another bill for $55 for removal of yet another bin. It was already paid for on my last bill. I'm not sure what bin they could be referring to because I only had 2. I got onto my account and made sure my payment information was removed or they were going to automatically withdraw from my account. Waiting to hear back, but I'm definitely reporting to the Better Business Bureau if I do not get this charge removed. They have had nearly 989 disputes in the last year alone listed on the BBB site. Republic put out a nice flyer for residential garbage service @ $17.00. They never came close...and close would have worked. My bills we're bizarre at best with 3 or more "fees" on them which skyrocketed the cost almost $40 per month. When I called to complain the lady was astonished that I was not apprised of all the fees. I won't deal with dishonest people...and we are all tired of the FEE racket. Give me a price and stick to it for at least a year and try to earn a customers business. Silliest business model I have ever seen.....BEWARE!! read more
