We cannot say enough good things about Megan and the impact she's had on our dog, Padfoot. He's a coonhound--so if you know, you know: hyper, stubborn, and extremely vocal. When we first came to Megan, we were overwhelmed and frustrated. Padfoot pulled like a freight train on the leash and barked at absolutely everything. Walks were chaos, and quiet moments in the house were few and far between. Megan worked wonders with him. She gave us practical tools and taught us how to better understand and communicate with Padfoot. She never promised an overnight miracle (because that's not how dogs--or people--work), but what she did promise was that if we did the work, we'd see results. And she was absolutely right. Thanks to her guidance, Padfoot's leash manners have drastically improved, and we've seen a huge reduction in his barking. On top of that, he's boarded with Megan, and when he came home, he was the best behaved he's ever been. Calm, happy, focused--like he'd just come back from a doggy bootcamp/spa hybrid. One of the things we love most about Megan is how deeply she cares. She genuinely loves dogs and loves helping people build better relationships with their pets. It's obvious in the way she interacts with them, how patient and encouraging she is, and how invested she is in each dog's progress. She celebrates your wins with you, no matter how small, and makes you feel like you're not alone in the process. Now, I've seen some reviews on here claiming Megan doesn't know what she's doing. That's honestly nonsense. If someone expects their dog to magically behave without doing any of the follow-up work Megan recommends, then of course they won't see lasting results. It's not about outsourcing your dog's behavior--it's about learning to be a consistent, supportive leader for your pup, and Megan gives you the tools to do just that. Padfoot loves her, we love her, and we'd recommend her to anyone who wants to build a better relationship with their dog. I am currently trusting Megan with the care of my dog while I've been hospitalized and recovering from surgery. It's been over a month now! She is clearly someone who loves and understands dogs and has their best interests at heart. Robbie is very happy with her. I'm very suspicious of the negative reviews that can be posted about Megan. They make absolutely no sense. I suspect bullying or attempts at character assassination. I would suggest disregarding them. read more

UNQUALIFIED "trainer" !!!! Her Google blocks negative reviews I put mine there too. Rescue Dogs Training, Megan, She is a con woman!. I wish I had seen these reviews before I agreed to her. New-to-me dog from a close friend. I paid for boarding training for two weeks but she chose to keep her for 3 1/2 weeks total. She got my dog straight from her previous home where she did have some obedience training and knew basic commands. I paid for boarding train because she is wild in the house, car and destructive at times. In the time Megan had her she kept asking for more money to keep her even longer. I didn't agree because the videos (I had to asked for) didn't show much improvement if any and I wasn't getting encouraging reports from her. As I expected, my dog came home in the same exact state or worse than when she left in. Not only is she still wild in the house and car and destructive still, NOW she doesn't respond to her ***own name*** or basic commands anymore (how the hell did that happen?) and she picked up barking from Megan's house. She NEVER barked! Not even when neighbor dogs were in the backyard going crazy with their barking. I truly believe she is unqualified and does not spend adequate time training nor does she socialize the dogs (others in her home or yours) appropriately. She claimed that my dog is perfect on leash which is a lie, she is the same as when she left. When I interviewed her we agreed to the training and process that would be used. When asking for update, after a few days of silence, Megan tells you to "relax and trust the process" and says "I'm busy, you aren't my only client". She then refers me to talk to her boyfriend for updates. Megan repeatedly told me my dog is super smart and can learn anything while at the same time for three weeks basically tell me that things aren't getting better. So which is it? When you get your dog home and you express concerns, Megan will blame you, your energy and give bad advice to keeping your dog in her crate for THREE days. WTF?!?! So she gets no more routine, consistency or exercise for three days?! Wrong! I have had many dogs and even have broken bad habits with rescues I've gotten, my energy is fine. No is in board training with a reputable and capable person who in 24 hours has made tremendous progress. Absolutely not worth the small fortune you pay!!!! DO NOT DO IT!!! After reading the most recent review, I have to say--it sounds like a dog owner who's upset because they don't know how to properly care for their own dog after leaving them with Megan. I've used Megan's services MANY times and have never had an experience like that. IF YOU WANT AN EXPERIENCED TRAINER, Megan is the BEST in the valley! My dogs have come a long way. After just a few sessions and a few nights with Megan, they now love their crate and respond to all my commands. Megan is amazing! With in five minutes we saw a huge turn around with our rescues. I would be surprised at any negative reviews with her. She is quick, knowledgeable, and truly puts her heart and her all in to it-and truly believes in what she is doing to save dogs and their humans! I don't want to badmouth another company, but they quoted us $3000.00 to complete training for both dogs and it just seemed like a scam. Completely negative experience which discouraged us. I'm so happy we found her. She also boards dogs, and we will be doing that with her as well when needed. I've worked with Megan for three sessions so far, and both my 4 year old rescue dog and I have already learned so much. From day one, Megan helped me start establishing myself as a confident, consistent leader, and I saw a difference in my dog right away. Unprofessional, disinterested, poor communicator. Megan and I did not communicate well. Communication failure usually takes two and i acknowledge that i have my part in it, but i found her unresponsive and dismissive of my concerns, repeatedly telling me to relax and repeating that weekly sessions are needed when i questioned the timing of my dogs' (there are 2 rescues that i am fostering) progress. (I definitely was anxious about the situation because i questioned whether i was teaching the dogs correctly.) I didn't realize how much i found Megan's services lacking until i started with a certified dog trainer who spent nearly 2 hours to thoroughly assess the dogs, laid out goals and a training plan with me before beginning session 1 of actual training (instead of Megan's approach of launching in with a slip lead after 10 minutes of evaluating the dogs on the first visit), explains everything as training proceeds, provides summary notes of every session and multiple publications from professional training sources, is available every day--multiple times a day if necessary if i have questions, is client-focused--the client being the dog and the dog's person, and with whom i signed a contract. The most simple example of Megan's unprofessional behavior is on Sept 2 2024 i paid her $90 for 3 leashes (which i could have gotten on Amazon for half that, but i didn't). When i told her i would not be continuing with her, i asked for a refund on the leashes and she told me she would drop them off. It took at least 5 text exchanges and 2+ weeks to get 2 of the 3 leashes. On Sept 26 i still am waiting for the third $30 leash after 2 more texts, one with copies of my receipts and no response from her. Don't waste your time and money, create aggravation for yourself, and if reviews of others on Yelp are true regarding lost and injured dogs (I am only referencing what i have read on Yelp; you decide for yourself if they are valid and concerning) put your animals in danger hiring this person. Her fees are lower than other trainers in the area, but don't be fooled, the value for your money is lacking. I should have asked many more questions and looked up more reviews other than the 100% excellent reviews on her website. I was looking for help with my two foster dogs as soon as possible so that they will be as ready as possible for adoption and i should not have rushed. Interview and work with a professional certified trainer--and sign a contract to protect everyone, especially your animals. read more

Megan is extremely knowledgeable & patient.. In just a 90 min session I learned so much about my dog's bad behavior & where it was coming from. She gave me easy, tangible solutions on how to work with my dog & ease her anxiety & how to enforce good habits.. In less than 24 hours I'm already noticing a huge difference since Megan came to my home. My dog has been calmer, no barking & is responding well to basic commands.. I'm so extremely grateful & feel hopeful that it won't be long til I can take her anywhere without stress or leave her without her freaking out. I highly recommend Megan!! If I could give a -5 I certainly would. We sent our dog to Megan Perkins for training & boarding. He was dog reactive- not dog aggressive but rather reactive. Megan allowed an aggressive dog in the same area as my dog. My dog was attacked & critically injured. He spent 4 days at the vet. Megan told me 3 different stories as to what happened, but I was able to track down the other dogs owner. Megan was suppose to keep their aggressive dog separate from all other dogs. Megan refused to take any responsibility for her carelessness that almost cost my dog his life. She has yet to call me to see if my dog even survive. Last week she lost a dog she was boarding- the dog is still lost 6 days later. If you love your dog DO NOT put him/her in Megans care. read more

After reading about Megan on Nextdoor, we set an appointment with training our two dogs. She was awesome. She gave so much relevant information and handled both of our dogs with ease. We couldn't have been happier with her help and we were amazed with how she dealt with our rescue dog that hasn't been socialized. Amazing! Highest recommendation. She also has doggie day care and boarding. She is a behavioral training expert for rescue dogs in particular. Megan was far superior to my expectations. Megan has been working with our adopted dog, who is a lovely, gentle boy, but scares other people and dogs when on walks as he is reactive and a big barker. Megan has met with us only twice, and Meeko is already so much calmer on walks. It feels like a miracle. This morning, for the first time, someone approached and asked to meet him.
