After years and years of searching for a legitimate service dog trainer, we ended up in wonderful hands and and I am so thrilled with the training and support that I have received. Academy of Canine Excellence received the Best Dog Trainer in the City 2024 for a reason. I have had one service dog trained with them and now he is getting older and closer to retiring so we are now working with my 1-year-old pup and he's doing amazing with the help of these trainers.I would never go anywhere else for any training that involves dogs! They are very willing to work with scheduling and payments that make it a lot easier for many people to get the help that is desperately needed. I have also boarded my other dogs with them and have never had any worries about how they are treated or cared for.

Asked if she'd put down some mats and was refused. Please be very careful.

Jon (the owner and dog trainer) is FANTASTIC!…read more My husband and I adopted an adult, 4 1/2 year old rescue/stray named Bolt in January 2021. He's a whopping 8lb. and a Chihuahua/poodle/Yorkie terrier/Maltese mix aka a mutt! He had no training at all. He was definitely a mess. Anyways, we desperately needed some dog training, and I searched all over Albuquerque. Jon was the only person I could find that offered a free consult. I really didn't want to pay to meet a trainer. What if it didn't work out? However, He came to our house for the consult, and Bolt LOVES him. Jon does 3-4 private lessons (sit, place, walking on a leash) and then "promotes" them to dog group class. He's really patient, loves to talk about dogs, and helps to trouble shoot weird dog behaviors. We have been in group class for about a month to 6 weeks. Bolt went from being scared of poop bags and not knowing his own name to being able to sit, place, come when called, and is working on down, off, leave it, and leash walking. Group classes are great, everyone is very supportive and friendly, plus Bolt gets to work on tuning out distractions, as they are held at local parks. Overall, I have been SO happy with Jon and Swagger Dog Training. He's amazing and the service he provides is top notch. If you need a dog trainer, PICK JON.

After she was done I picked her up and was presented my bill for her service. I was suprized at the amount I was being charged. It was twice as much as I thought it was supposed to be and got upset about it. The cashier got snippy with me and told me that this was the amount that I had agreed to and instead of showing me the mistake I made when I made my choice online, she got a little rude with me and called her store manager over. I was very embarrassed, there were other customers in line by then. Turns out it was my fault, I did make the mistake, but they didn't help me to understand what I did wrong online and how not to do that again in the future. Very poor customer service. On top of that, I paid for my dog to receive a plus toy, a bandana and a coupon book, NONE of which I received. Makes me wonder what else was left out. I tried to leave this review on their website but couldn't find anywhere to do that Im one very upset customer !

TL;DR: I would not trust Camp Bow Wow with the safety of my pets…read more My parents boarded their two small dogs at Camp Bow Wow for the very first time while we attended a family event out of state. When we picked them up that evening, one dog had a large, pus-filled wound on her face that staff described only as "a scratch." Although none of us are veterinarians, it was obvious the wound was more serious than that. The next morning, our family veterinarian confirmed it was a puncture wound that had become infected, drained the pus, and explained that it would have required stitches had it been treated sooner. Instead, the dog was prescribed a week of antibiotics. Two weeks later, the wound is healing but still not fully resolved. We contacted Camp Bow Wow to find out what had happened because no one had informed us of any incident before pickup. After investigating, management told us our dog had been injured as collateral damage during a scuffle between another dog and her companion a couple of hours before checkout. They also claimed they had called my parents to discuss the incident. That is not what happened. The only voicemail my parents received stated that both dogs were doing well and asked them to call about exit baths. They returned the call on the way from the airport, reached voicemail, and received no further attempts to contact them. When we asked why veterinary care wasn't sought--or, at a minimum, why my parents weren't notified so they could decide whether their dog should be seen--we were told the injury "did not appear to be severe enough for medical attention" and had only "occurred a couple of hours prior to checkout." This explanation was difficult to reconcile with our veterinarian's findings that the wound was already infected and that too much time had passed for stitches, despite the vet examining her less than 24 hours after the incident allegedly occurred. When we raised these concerns, management stood by their account and stated that pet owners are responsible for any veterinary expenses resulting from their dog's stay. When I asked the facility manager, Sally, about their policy for notifying owners when a dog is injured, specifically by another dog, I never received a clear answer--only a repetition of their version of events. As someone who owns my own two dogs and frequently uses boarding facilities, I understand that kennel staff are not veterinarians. I don't expect them to diagnose injuries. I do expect them to promptly notify pet owners whenever an animal is injured and allow the owner--not the kennel--to decide whether veterinary care is warranted. I also expect honesty and transparency as to when and how an incident occurred, which I do not believe we received in this instance. In my opinion, Camp Bow Wow failed to meet that basic standard of care. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend boarding your pets there.

These people KNOW DOGS and can help with difficult cases. Their main focus for the obedience training is safety first, and always. Trish and the gang always do an outstanding job training, and making sure you understand the process. They totally understand dogs and I would say they are Albuquerque's Dog Whisperers. The methods are tried and true and I have seen totally outstanding results from them time and again. The reason for obedience is to teach the owner how to work with the dog and together the owner and dog can learn to have a happy and safe life together. Trish and her ladies will have you and your dog well on their way to a long, happy life. The snake training for life is a superb idea and I will always go back for more. :) VERY HAPPY CAMPER. For those that gave a review citing 'fear and intimidation' system was used, did you go to the same place I did? I can hardly believe that. You need to learn to be fully integrated with your dog, which at some point will include discipline, not to be confused with fear and intimidation. For those that coddle their dogs, that method will hardly do the trick for ensuring a safe and happy life together. This is a very good training place, bar non, BEST IN THE CITY. That's a fact, Jack! :D
