This place is seriously amazing! I went in looking for a singing bowl for meditation. I have never used a singing bowl myself and had very little knowledge, and both Ramesha & Huma were so kind and great at informing me on how to pick the right one for me. I read about this place in Yoga Chicago and in my hunt for a meditation cushion, I landed at Reshams. The woman in the shop greeted me and made herself available for any questions without being pushy. She allowed me to browse through the racks of beautiful clothing and scarfs at my own pace. I fell absolutely in love with the unique tables that were for sale--lots of sweet smelling incense, Tibetan singing bowls, beautiful pillows and bangles. I wish I had more time to browse today but I had to leave before committing to any one cushion--amazing selection and incredibly welcoming owner. Support this place! read more

Great service, reasonable prices, and a nice selection. I had been looking for a Tibetan singing bowl for my fiance and gave Resham's a call based on other reviews I read here. So glad I did -- I spoke with a woman who assured me they had several different types in stock at different price points, and she was kind enough to put a particularly interesting one on hold for me until I could drive up that evening. As soon as I got there, they knew exactly who I was and were happy to walk me through all the different bowls available; the woman I had spoken with earlier even demoed each one for me, and taught me how to make them sing. I bookmarked Reshams five months ago. I love to shop on Devon but sometimes buses and money are hard to come by. I don't remember how I found out about the store but I knew instantly it would be the place I would return to over and over. Finally I needed a present for a friend by the end of the week. No excuses. My girlfriend offered to drive and we love the nice couple and their wonderful business. I wanted a wind chime but I knew if they didn't have the one I wanted there would be something else just a neat. They only had about three or four wind chimes but I bought something similar. My girlfriend bought a bedspread with the Goddess Sarawati on it. We picked up a few other beautiful things. At the time it occurred to me that I wanted my home to smell like incense but I don't use candles or smoke. I asked the gentleman for an incense product that doesn't need those things. Voila! It's called Song of India Temple Incense. You don't have to burn it and the fragrance is delightful. It's so strong that my hands smelled like it from holding the box while we shopped! As I said I am going back to Reshams. There are bedspreads, clothing, decorations, and incense that I look forward to buying. The store is like a glimpse of heaven to me. read more

Step into Resham's and you won't know where to look first. They store is pretty small so the walls are piled high with beautiful, colorful fabrics. I went in to get some floor cushions and the owner was very nice and helpful. I found what I was looking for but stayed longer just to browse and stare at all the patterns and designs. I can't say enough positive things about Reshams. I am attending an Indian wedding and while I'm all set for the reception and ceremony, I was feeling at a loss as to what to wear for the Mehndi night. The owner walked me through my different options, had me try a few outfits, and was very low pressure. When we are on Devon, and either looking for table coverings, clothing, or jewelry, we usually come here first. Reason? The proprietors are the nicest people on Devon. They give straight prices, they bend over backwards to find good stock, or the right color. They have American service values, something sorely lacking in most of the Gujarati dukaandars of Devon. They also give good advice about where to find items that they themselves do not carry. I give them only 4 stars because unfortunately their stock is sometimes limited, but we seldom leave without finding something we were looking for. read more

I have been looking for a cotton bedspread (like a printed sheet) for a long time - I had purchased one years ago at a street fest and it's showing its age. Strangely, I have had a hard time finding one that I really liked, so I turned to Yelp to help me pick out a shop that might sell them among the many boutiques on Devon. The other reviews are spot on. I walked in and was warmly greeted by two people who I'm guessing were the owners. They both helped me find the right tapestry and answered the questions I had about their products. I spoke with the wife of the couple a little bit about their other products and I know I'll be back when I have some more time to browse (today was a rushed visit, unfortunately.) Much like Meredith below, I was looking for a cotton bedspread--preferably block print. I went to Devon and wandered around and no one had them. Then I checked Yelp--read the reviews of Reshams and went back the next day and sought them out. I was not disappointed! The owners were friendly and helpful without being overbearing, and the wares were beautiful and fairly priced. Plus, it was fixed price--no haggling! They had exactly what I had been looking for--and a lot of different , lovely prints for the bedspreads. Just recently visited this store for the first time with a client of mine and the experience was fantastic! The owners were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They are also very sweet and have great stories to tell. The selection of pillows and wall hangings had intricate detailing, an array of amazing colors, and were eclectic. It was a sad day the Peacock closed in Evanston. The carefully chosen collection of Indian clothing, jewelry and decorations warmed the heart. I'm so glad that a friend told me about Reshams. Every square inch is rich with tribal art, clothing, jewelry, home decor. Everything handmade, a lot of it especially for the delightful husband and wife owners. Understand this about me: American-born Indian woman who rarely attends Indian functions. When I do, what to wear is always a problem. I don't buy saris because I rarely have occasion to use them. When the rare occasion comes, I don't have a sari so I end up wearing a dress and feeling awkward. Understand this about me: buying saris an emotionally fraught experience for me. I don't find Devon Ave to be user-friendly. Salespeople I've encountered are generally focused on selling first, and listening to my needs and wants last. Several years ago I wandered into Resham's, and found a haven. Resham combines the aesthetic of nearby stores with the skill and customer service of a high-end boutique. The owner helped me find a sari, and arranged for a blouse and petticoat to be tailored. I decided to get the sari pre-stiched, and the owner explained what considerations I should take into account when deciding on a neckline and hem length. Someone who wears saris all the time would know this stuff, but I was SO grateful to be given such thoughtful pointers. I felt like she was more interested in me finding something I LOVE, rather than selling me something. And I did find a sari within my budget that I am excited to wear. I have asked the wonderful couple who run the store to please never retire. Or if they eventually retire, to sell the store to someone who shares their belief in quality, value, and customer service. There are fancier stores. There are cheaper stores. But there is only one Resham's. Resham's is the only store for me on Devon. read more

I was with my husband roaming Devon for a shop that would have great textiles (pillows, bedding, wallhangings,etc.) and we stumbled upon Reshams. I felt like I had walked into textile heaven. My husband knew I was going to take a while when he saw my face which was like that of a little girl in a doll shop. I recognized the shop owners from the Channel 5 ads posted on the CTA Train. I remember thinking, I have to check out that place and now without planning it, there I was. This is now one of my favorite places that I will have to come to again and again. I stumbled on this place because of the beautiful clothing display in the window as my husband and I were walking pass. The owners are honest and won't try to get you to buy something that is not worth the quality or price. No pressure here! It is a wonderful experience walking through the shop. The sights of everything from the clothing to the home furnishing are absolutely beautiful. The shop keepers are very helpful and knowledgeable. I love going there. You can browse or buy. Whatever you choose you will be delighted. I have had clothes tailored to fit me personally and have bought many home furnishing which I get many many complements when people come to our home.
